The Ultimate Detective and The Ultimate Hope Gaiden: Kiki's New Sibling!

"Alright, Kiki, we're here!" Makoto called as the car rolled to a stop.

He then got out and walked around to the passenger door, opening it before he unbuckled Kiki and lifted her out of her booster seat.

Once she was on the ground with her backpack in tow, Kiki gave her Father a hug before telling him "Have a great day at school, Daddy! You too Mommy!", glancing at Kyoko through the car window.

Kyoko waved back at her daughter, smiling as Makoto returned "You too, Kiki. You know the drill by now. We'll see you when you get home, pumpkin!"

Kiki nodded "Uh-huh! I'll see you later, Daddy! Bye, Mommy!"

"Bye Kiki!" Makoto called back, watching her run off to her two friends before walking back around and getting back in the car.

He then turned the key back in the ignition and drove off, glancing at his pregnant wife with a worried frown before asking "Ano…are you sure you didn't want to start your maternity leave, honey? I'm sure we could get Mom or Dad or even Maki and Kaito to…"

Kyoko sighed, appreciative of her husband's concern, but still frustrated with being treated like porcelain as she rested her hands on her belly and assured him "Makoto, I'm fine. I can still do my job, and I promise to stay in my office in case anything happens, alright?"

Makoto sighed, caving "Alright, honey, just let me know if something happens, okay?" Seeing Kyoko nod, Makoto focused his attention on the road, grip on the steering wheel tightening as he thought Why do I have a bad feeling about today…?

"Hey, Kiki!" Tsumugi called out, making Kiki smile as she waved back to her best friend.

"Tsumugi!" Kiki called back as she walked over to the aspiring cosplayer. "How are you today?"

Tsumugi nodded "I'm good. Thanks for the Halloween candy again. You giving me some of your share really helped to boost my motivation and helped me to come up with some new cosplay sketches!"

"I'm happy to hear that, Tsumugi!" Kiki giggled, beaming in joy as she took off her backpack and sat at her desk.

"So how has your family been doing. You mentioned that you were expecting a younger sibling soon. Did your Mom have the baby yet?"

Kiki shook her head "Uh-uh, not yet. Though her belly's been getting really big, and she and Daddy say that they'll come really soon. They don't know exactly when, but it should be any day now."

"Ah, okay. Do you know if it's a boy or a girl yet?"

Kiki shook her head and denied "Mommy and Daddy say that they want to be surprised, so they haven't checked whether it's a boy or girl."

Tsumugi nodded "Ah, okay. And how do you feel about becoming a big sister, Kiki?"

Kiki bit her lip and admitted quietly "…I'm still a little nervous as to how things will change. Mommy and Daddy have always made time for me, and I'm still not ecstatic about sharing them. But…I think…having a baby brother or a baby sister…will be exciting too…"

Tsumugi nodded "I understand that…well, hopefully once they're born, they'll grow on you."

Kiki smiled and replied "Thanks, Tsumugi. That really…"

"Alright, kids, settle down. Time to take attendance."

As Mr. Yoshida began to take attendance, Kiki focused her attention on her homeroom teacher, waiting patiently for her name to be called.

They'll grow on me…I hope we can get along…like Daddy and Auntie Komaru do…

Kyoko let out a heavy sigh, staring the self-proclaimed Supreme Leader in the eyes and asked "Kokichi…when are you going to grow up?"

Kokichi Oma, surrounded by his D.I.C.E. companions, merely grinned and giggled "Nee hee hee…Aww, but I'm still a kid. Society says we're not adults until we're twenty, and I've gotta have fun while I'm still a kid."

Kyoko glared, standing up straight as she warned "Oma…keep in mind that it's not wise to tick off a pregnant woman, especially not one who's in charge of disciplining you. You're in your final year at Hope's Peak Academy, and yet you've continued to earn yourself regular trips to my office, the result of your various pranks."

Kyoko sighed and sat back down, exhausted from Kokichi's antics.

"Don't you realize that after this year, you'll be going into the workforce? If you continue to indulge in these pranks after you graduate, there's a real possibility your antics could one day land you in legal trouble. You don't like the dressing downs you get from me? Jail is much worse, and I don't want to hear about one of my students landing in prison, delinquent or no."

"Aww…I had no idea you cared so much about me, nee hee hee…"

Kyoko grit her teeth at how laid back he was and exclaimed "This isn't a game, Oma. Why do you do this? Everyone lands in my office once or twice during their time here, but they always end up straightened out in the end…except for you. Why do you insist on these repeat visits? Do you enjoy torturing me?"

Kokichi let fake crocodile tears trickle down his cheeks as he sniffled "N…not at all Vice-Headmistress Naegi…in fact I…I respect you…I don't mean to get on your nerves…I'm just having some f…fun…"

Kyoko glared and Oma and told him "Kokichi, your crocodile tears won't convince me you're being truthful. In fact, I'm even more disheartened that you won't take this seriously. I'm trying to prepare you for the outside world, but if you won't take this seriously, I…"

Kyoko gasped, standing up shakily and laying one palm on top of her desk, holding the other one against her belly as she felt a surge of pain in her abdomen.

Oh no…here? Now?!

Kokichi's crocodile tears faded, cocking his head in confusion and frowning in worry as he asked "Ano…Vice-Headmistress Naegi…are you okay?"

Trying to bear the pain, Kyoko grunted "I'm fine…now, as I was saying…agh…"

Kokichi frowned, getting up and concluding "You need help, Mrs. Naegi." Turning to his two cohorts who were with him, he ordered with a serious expression "Konran, Haki! Help support the Vice-Headmistress until we get her to the Headmaster!"

Nodding, the two cohorts, scrambled over and wrapped an arm around her back, kicking the chair out as they helped her to stand.

"W…why?" I surprised, weakened Kyoko asked. "You're always pulling pranks, so why…"

Kokichi stared at her and answered "Because you need help. I may be a Supreme Leader, but I'm not heartless, and I never prank someone who's already down on their luck and needs help. And for the record, I DO respect you, Vice-Headmistress, I wasn't lying about that, so even though I'm a pain in your ass, and will continue to be when you're better…for today, I'm going to do what I can to help you."

Kyoko's eyes widened as she realized that for once, Kokichi was telling the truth, recalling That's right, he's not heartless like Junko was…and his pranks have never put anyone in real danger. Plus…I have gotten the occasional report of Kokichi doing a good deed once in a while…

*splash*

The soaking of Kyoko's panties was the final nail in the coffin that convinced Kyoko, causing her to weakly smile and nod "…Perhaps there's hope for you yet, Oma-kun. Okay, the Headmaster's Door is right over there…"

*whoosh*

"Hm? What is it, Kyou…KYOKO!" Makoto exclaimed, turning at the sound of his side door opening.

He attempting to greet his wife before his eyes widened in shock at the sight of a severely weakened Kyoko, her legs wobbling as she was supported by Kokichi's D.I.C.E. gang, their leader bringing up the rear before circling around to stand between the Headmaster and the Vice-Headmistress.

"Kokichi…what happened?" Makoto asked, frowning at an uncharacteristically serious Kokichi Oma, who was usually the textbook definition of a class clown, and a regular occupant of Kyoko's office.

"The Vice-Headmistress was in the middle of one of her lectures when she started grunting in pain and clutching her stomach. I figured you would know what to do, Headmaster."

Nodding, Makoto's panicked eyes turned serious, ordering "Go sit her in that chair and go back to class. We'll discuss your punishment later."

Kokichi nodded as his D.I.C.E. members walked Kyoko over to one of the spare chairs, setting her down in a sitting position. Once they were done, Kokichi bowed respectfully and he and his cohorts began to leave.

"Kokichi." Kokichi turned around to see Makoto smiling at him before finishing "Thanks. You're a good kid."

Kokichi blushed in embarrassment before he covered it up with his signature giggle and retorted "Nee hee hee. Careful, Headmaster; if anyone hears you, my reputation will go down the drain. Nee hee hee."

Before Makoto could reply, the three D.I.C.E. members fled the office, closing the door behind them. Makoto shook his head, an amused smile on his face before it turned back into a worried frown. Makoto walked over to his wife and kneeled, asking "Kyoko? Honey, what's wrong?"

Summoning the strength to look up at her husband, Kyoko uttered "Ma…Makoto…my…my water broke. The…the baby's co…coming!"

Makoto's eyes widened in shock, freezing for just a moment before they narrowed in serious determination. Without another word, he then got back up on his own two feet and marched over to the desk, picking up the phone and dialing a series of numbers before holding it to his ear.

*Ring Ring*

"Hi, Mom? It's Makoto! Listen, I need a favor from you and Dad. I need you to stay with Kiki at my house tonight. Kyoko's about to go into labor and I need someone to stay with Kiki while I'm at the hospital with Kyoko. You will? Thanks, Mom! I'll call your cell when it's okay for Kiki to come to the hospital. Love you too, Mom. Bye!"

Makoto hung up before dialing another series of numbers, holding the landline to his ear as it rang.

*Ring Ring*

"Hi, Byakuya? It's Makoto. Listen, remember the plan for when Kyoko goes into labor? Well, it's time. I need to take Kyoko to the hospital, so I'll need you to be Temporary Headmaster while Kyoko has the baby. I'll take over once Kyoko is clear to come home with the baby, but until then I need you to cover for me. Great, thanks! Bye!"

Glancing over to his wife and breathing a sigh of relief once he saw that she had regained a little bit of strength. Frowning again after seeing her wince and groan in pain from the contractions, Makoto hurriedly dialed a final set of numbers as he continued to hold the phone to his ear.

*Ring Ring*

"Hi, Toko? It's Makoto. Look, I need you to send Komaru up to my office. Kyoko's about to go into labor and I need her to help me get her to the car and take her to the hospital. Yes, I know you're not used to teaching the students yourself, but Kyoko needs Komaru right now more than you do. Yes, I know Kawako's with you, but she's one. Surely she can sit on your desk while you teach, or Hiro can watch her while he holds rehearsals. Thanks, Toko! Bye!"

With his calls finished, Makoto rushed over back to his wife, kneeling as he laced his hands on her belly and rubbing it up and down to soothe the pain from her contractions.

"It's okay, Kyoko, don't worry. Once Komaru gets here, we'll help you to the car and we can go to the hospital so you can have the baby."

Kyoko nodded, groaning in pain as Makoto continued to massage his wife's belly, trying his best to dull her pain while they waited for Komaru to get there.

"Hm?" Kiki uttered after swallowed her bite of sandwich before looking out the window from her desk.

Tsumugi frowned, asking "Hey Kiki, what is it?"

"Oh…it's nothing, Tsumugi, I just saw that it was foggy outside was all." Tsumugi shrugged, then went back to her sandwich as Kiki looked down to her sandwich, frowning as she wondered Why do I get this feeling that this fog is gonna be more important than just making the day more dreary?

XXX

"Alright, Kyoko, into the front seat…" Komaru eased Kyoko into the car before she helped the groaning Mother to buckle her seatbelt.

Once she was all settled in, Komaru quickly shut the door before opening the passenger seat door and climbing inside. Makoto and Komaru quickly buckled their seatbelts before he turned the key in the ignition and drove off. As they began to drive down the road to the hospital, they soon found their urgent drive interrupted by the elements themselves.

"Of all the rotten luck!" Makoto cursed "Why does it have to fog NOW of all days?! I can barely see what's in front of me!"

As Makoto slowed down to a more leisurely pace, Kyoko groaned in pain, clutching her belly tighter as she begged "Faster, Makoto, faster! This baby's not going to wait forever!"

Makoto grimaced sympathetically as he tried to reason "I would honey, believe me, but it's so foggy, it's like driving through a forest! If I go any faster, I'm likely to get us crashed!"

Kyoko groaned "But…Makoto…it hurts…agh! I just had another contraction!"

I know, I know, honey…" Makoto glanced to Komaru and begged "Komaru, any chance you could lean forward and soothe Kyoko's belly until we get there? That should help until I can get us to the hospital."

Komaru saluted "Just leave it to me, Onii-chan!" She then leaned forward as far as she could before she started rubbing soothing circles into the sides of Kyoko's belly, soothing "It's okay, Onee-chan! It's okay! Just grin and bear it…Onii-chan's driving us to the hospital as fast as he can. Just take deep breaths and try to relax, okay?"

Kyoko took deep breaths, focusing on the soothing belly rub Komaru was giving her as she gave a pained smile and replied gratefully "Th…thanks, Komaru. I'll…I'll try not to be too unreasonable until we get there."

Makoto sighed in relief as he focused on the foggy road ahead of him, praying Please…let this fog lift soon! Kyoko needs to get to the hospital so she can give birth to our baby!

"Alright, let's go, Kiki." Maki told the young girl as she lifted her into her booster seat, buckling Kiki in before closing the door and circling around to the driver's side.

Once she had buckled herself in, she turned the key into the ignition and drove off, commenting "The fog looks pretty heavy…it might end up delaying our arrival back home."

Kiki nodded, commenting "I hope it's not too much of a problem for Mommy and Daddy…" not knowing just how much of a problem it had become for her parents.

XXX

"Alright, Kyoko, one foot in front of the other…easy now…easy now…" Makoto urged as he and Komaru supported Kyoko's weight, helping her to walk into the hospital lobby. Once they found a trio of chairs to sit in, Makoto asked as he eased his wife into a sitting position "Komaru, can you go to the receptionist and tell her Kyoko's in labor and needs to see Mikan Tsumiki?"

"You can count on me, Onii-chan!" Komaru saluted before jogging over to the receptionist, leaving Makoto to rub his wife's belly as she groaned in pain.

"Hey, hey, it's okay. We're here at the hospital, and Komaru's gonna get Mikan so she can help you give birth, okay? And Komaru and I will be there to help you every step of the way."

Kyoko nodded, groaning "Th…thank you, Ma…Makoto…"

Makoto smiled sympathetically, continuing to rub her belly until the *pat pat* of hurrying feet rang in their ears. They both looked up to see Komaru running back to them with Mikan in tow, the Nurse wheeling a wheelchair in front of them.

"Alright Mrs. Na…Naegi. Let's ease you in the cha…chair…" Once Makoto and Komaru had successfully lifted Kyoko from her sitting position into the wheelchair, Mikan took hold of the handlebars and urged the other two Naegis "Alright Makoto and Ko…Komaru, you to fo…follow me to the maternity wa…ward!"

Nodding with a mutual look of determination, Makoto and Komaru power walked through the halls behind Mikan, wheeling Kyoko as the expectant Mother clutched her belly and groaned in pain, feeling another contraction shoot through her body.

Please…let this be a quick birth!

"Alright, Kiki, we're home…" Maki announced as the car rolled to a stop, unbuckling herself and turning off the car before she opened the door and got out of it.

She then circled around and opened the passenger door before unbuckling Kiki from her booster seat. The young girl then grabbed her backpack and jumped out of the car, standing next to her babysitter.

"Alright, Kiki, let's go inside and wait for…"

"No way…Baa-ba?! Jii-ji?!" Kiki beamed before running over to her Grandparents, embracing Hana in a hug at the front step.

"It's so good to see you too, Kiki…" Hana giggled as she knelt to meet her Granddaughter, lifting her up in her arms before nodding "Hello, Maki."

"Hello Mrs. Naegi. Mr. Naegi." Maki bowed her head in greeting at her employers' parents.

Kiki then asked "What are you guys doing here? Mommy and Daddy didn't tell me you guys were coming!"

Shingi smiled and explained "Your Dad called us earlier in the day. He said that he had to take your Mother to the hospital so she could have the baby…"

Kiki gasped, interrupting "Really?! Mommy's having the baby?! Can we go see them?!"

Hana shook her head in amusement, telling her "Sorry, Kiki, but the baby hasn't been born yet. We won't be able to see them until at least tomorrow."

Kiki pouted, huffing "But I wanted to see them NOW!"

Shingi chuckled "I know it's exciting, Kiki, but trust me, you don't want to go see the birth…it's not fun…OW!"

Shingi nursed the back of his head, wisely keeping silent after his wife slapped it in response to his comment. Sighing, Hana smiled at her Granddaughter and set her down on her feet.

"Your Father said he'll call us after the baby is born and let us know when we can take you to the hospital to meet the baby. In the meantime, we'll be taking care of you while your Dad is with your Mom at the hospital."

"…Okay…"

Hana smiled sympathetically, then turned to Maki and told her "I'm sure you have other things to get to Maki, so thank you for bringing Kiki home, and I hope you have a nice day."

Maki bowed respectfully, then turned around and walked back to her car, getting inside and driving off into the distance.

"Alright, kiddo, let's get inside so you can do your homework. Your Baa-chan will get dinner ready while I help you, okay?"

Kyoko, now changed into a standard hospital gown, laid on the bed, her hands gripping Makoto and Komaru's hands as she squeezed for dear life.

"Alright, Mrs. Na…Naegi…just take deep breaths, o…okay? You're fully di..dilated, so the baby should be coming soon. So just take a deep breath, then push, okay? Deep breath…push…deep breath…push…"

"Go on, Kyoko, you can do it!" Makoto encouraged as Kyoko squeezed his hand.

"Yeah, you did it once, you can do it again! We believe in you!" Komaru cheered, feeling Kyoko squeeze her hand.

Kyoko took a deep breath and focused on pushing with the muscles in her womb, crying out in pain as she tried to push the baby in her belly into the outside world.

"Agh…it hurts!"

XXX

"The End." Hana finished, closing the book as Kiki yawned in her nightgown, snuggled like a bug under the covers.

Shingi smiled and commented "Sounds like you're ready for bed, kiddo."

Kiki yawned again, nodding "Yeah…yeah…" as she wiggled under the under the blankets, nestling her head on the pillow. "Hey…Baa-ba?"

"Yes, Kiki?" Hana asked as she stroked her Granddaughter's hair, lulling the young girl into slumber.

Kiki yawned before drowsily asking "Ano…was Daddy excited too? I mean…when you were carrying Auntie Komaru in your belly?"

Hana smiled wistfully as she answered "Well, Kiki…your Daddy was still a baby himself, so he didn't really understand what was going on. All he knew was that Mommy's tummy was getting big, and one day a baby girl came home with Mommy and Daddy from the hospital."

"I…I see…" Kiki yawned again as she muttered "I hope…I can see…the baby tomorrow…with Mommy and Daddy…"

"Then go to sleep, sweetie." Hana giggled, taking turns with Shingi to kiss the tip of her nose. "Good night, Kiki. Sweet dreams."

"Good night, Baa-ba. Good night, Jii-ji…" Kiki yawned one last time before her eyes finally shut, the girl fading into slumber as her Grandparents smiled lovingly at their beloved Granddaughter.

With a nod, the two quietly tiptoed out of Kiki's room, Shingi closing the door behind him as they made their way to the guest room that Makoto had allowed them to stay in for the night.

*Yawn* "Ma…Makoto?"

Makoto smiled, standing outside of Kyoko's hospital room, answering "Hey, Mom. How are you and Dad handling Kiki?"

Hana looked to her snoozing husband on the bed and answered "We did okay. Your Father helped Kiki with her homework, and they're both now asleep. How did Kyoko do with the labor."

Makoto glanced into the hospital room, smiling at his now sleeping wife with their baby before he told her "Luckily, it was a fairly quick birth, but she and the baby are now sleeping. We did agree though that you can bring Kiki to visit in the morning in lieu of going to school, so you can let her sleep in. I'll call the Elementary School tomorrow morning and let them know so her absence will be excused."

"Okay, Makoto…" Hana smiled as she whispered "So…tell me about the baby. I promise I won't blab to Kiki or your Dad, but I want first dibs on knowing what my new Grandbaby looks like!"

Makoto gave an amused sigh before he admitted "Well…it's a boy this time. He has the same eye colors as Kiki, except in the opposite eyes. He also has a full head of purple hair and an ahoge, but it's brown instead of purple."

"Sounds like a cute baby boy, Makoto." Hana smiled as she imagined her new Grandson before she asked "Have you and Kyoko thought up any names?"

Makoto shook his head and denied "Sorry, Mom. Kyoko was too tired and needed to get some sleep after the labor. We decided we'd talk about names tomorrow morning before you brought Kiki over."

"Well, you might want to have that conversation sooner rather than later, Makoto. Kiki was really excited to meet her little brother."

Makoto chuckled "I bet she was…alright, once we're both awake, we'll come up with a name for our son. In the meantime, I'm…a little tired too, so I'm gonna get some sleep in one of the chairs."

"Okay, dear. Good, night, Makoto. I love you."

"Love you too, Mom. Good night."

Makoto hung up and put his phone back in his pocket before walking back into Kyoko's hospital room, sitting down in the chair next to the conked out Komaru. Chuckling under his breath, he leaned his head against Komaru's, letting his eyes close as he fell into slumber.

See you tomorrow…my baby boy…

"Rise and shine, kiddo!" Shingi exclaimed as he threw the blanket off of Kiki's body, making the six-year-old groan.

Her eyes cracked open as she yawned, sitting up and rubbing one eye with her fist as she mumbled "O…Ohayo, Jii-ji, Baa-ba…What time is…" Kiki's eyes widened, the girl fully awake and panicking as she exclaimed "Oh no! I'm gonna be late for school! I gotta get dressed, pack up my homework…"

Hana grabbed her Granddaughter by the shoulders and soothed "It's okay, Kiki, relax, there's no school today. Your Father called the school and told them you wouldn't be in today."

Kiki cocked her head in confusion as she asked "But…why would he do that? I'm not sick or anything…am I?"

Hana shook her head and giggled "No, Kiki…you're not sick. Your Father called me last night and said your Mom had the baby last night. He also said that we could come and visit them in the hospital so you could meet them."

Kiki gasped, beaming in surprised excitement as she exclaimed "Really? When can we see them?"

Hana giggled "Easy, easy. There's no need to rush. Why don't you get dressed while I make breakfast for us. I'll even make chocolate chip pancakes to celebrate the occasion. Then I can help brush your hair and do your braid before we go to visit."

"YAY!" Kiki cheered before zipping to her closet and laying out her clothes for the day.

Shingi chuckled while Hana giggled, the two Grandparents leaving their Granddaughter's room to give her some privacy while they went to cook her favorite breakfast.

XXX

"You're gonna love your big sister. And she's gonna be so excited to meet you!" Makoto cooed as he held his son in his arms, the young Father sitting next to his still tired, but smiling wife.

Peace remained for only a minute before the baby started to cry, squirming weakly in Makoto's grasp.

"Aww, are you hungry, little guy? Here you go…" Makoto cooed as he handed their son off to Kyoko.

Kyoko then uncovered one of her breasts before easing him against it. The baby boy began to suckle on the teat, humming contentedly as he began to drink her milk. Makoto smiled lovingly at his wife and son before glancing at the entryway.

Kiki…I hope you get here soon…you'll just love your baby brother, I just know it!

XXX

"DADDY!" Kiki cheered as she ran over to her Father, Hana and Shingi smiling as Makoto kneeled down to hug his little girl.

"Hey, Kiki! I missed you!" Makoto greeted as he picked his daughter up, feeling her wrap her arms around his neck. "Did you have fun with Baa-chan and Jii-chan?"

Unwrapping her arms from his neck, Kiki nodded "Yeah! Jii-ji helped me with my homework and Baa-ba made us dinner! Then they read to me until I fell asleep, and they made me chocolate chip pancakes before we came here!"

Makoto chuckled "Is that so? Well, I'm glad you had a good time." Makoto looked to his parents and thanked them "Thanks for staying with her on such short notice."

Hana shook her head and told him "No need to thank us, dear. It's not every day that we get to celebrate the birth of another Grandbaby."

Her Grandmother's words setting her off, Kiki bounced excitedly in Makoto's arms as she asked "Can we see Mommy and the aby now? Can we? Can we? CAN WE?"

Makoto chuckled and set her down, nodding "Sure we can, Kiki. Just follow me."

"YAY!" Kiki cheered as she followed her Father inside Kyoko's hospital room, Hana and Shingi not far behind as they prepared themselves to meet the newest addition to the Naegi family.

XXX

"Hey Kiki!"

"Hi Auntie Komaru!" Kiki waved as she saw her Aunt tiredly rub one eye with her fist, the younger of the original Naegi siblings not fully awake yet. "Mommy!" Kiki exclaimed as she saw a slightly tired Kyoko sitting up and smiling at her.

"Kiki, it's so good to see you…" Kyoko greeted, smiling as her daughter approached her hospital bed. She looked up to her in-laws and greeted "Mom, Dad…thanks for coming."

Hana smiled and explained "Hey, we wouldn't miss seeing our second Grandbaby for the world!"

Shingi nodded in agreement while Kiki frowned and asked worriedly "Mommy…are you okay?"

Kyoko nodded wearily as she assured her "I'm fine, Kiki. Just a little tired from the birth is all…"

Kiki breathed a sigh of relief and accepted with a nod "Okay, Mommy…" She then turned her gaze to the bundle of joy wrapped in a white cloth resting on her Mother's bosom as she asked "Ano…is that…"

Kyoko beamed, nodding as she turned the baby around and confirmed "That's right…meet your little brother, Kiki."

The baby yawned, exposing his purple and green colored eyes, drawing Kiki's attention away from his purple hair and brown ahoge.

"Hey, his eyes are just like mine, but switched! Our hair colors are switched too. He's kind of like the opposite of me!"

Kyoko giggled "That's one way of looking at it, I suppose. Would you like to hold him, Kiki?"

Suddenly nervous, Kiki stammered "M…me? But, what if I dr…drop him?!"

Makoto smiled and assured her "Then we'll pick him back up and you'll have a better idea of how to hold him. Trust me Kiki, your Mom and I had the exact same fears when we were still learning how to hold you."

Hana nodded and encouraged "It's all part of adjusting to a new baby, sweetie. Don't be afraid, Kiki, you'll do fine."

"Yeah!" A more awake Komaru cheered, adding with a pout "Besides, if you don't hold him, I'll NEVER get to hold him! Your parents were adamant that you'd be the first one after them to hold the new baby."

"Well…okay…" Kiki reluctantly nodded, holding out her arms to accept her new brother.

Makoto gently took the baby from Kyoko's arms and eased him into Kiki's grasp, instructing "Make sure to keep one elbow under his bottom to support this weight. Keep your other hand against the back of his head. He's not strong enough yet to support it himself."

With some effort, Kiki managed to awkwardly hold her brother in her arms, trying to get used to the feeling of supporting someone else in her arms instead of being the one supported by someone else. As Kiki's nerves began to take root, her brother looked her in the eyes before leaning forward, resting his head on her shoulder and mumbling against her.

"Aww…" the others cooed, Makoto, Hana, Shingi, and Komaru taking out their smartphones and taking the opportunity to snap a few pictures.

Kiki blushed in embarrassment, but upon glancing at her baby brother in her arms, she smiled, feeling her nervousness ebb away as she thought He does look rather cute…and this is nice…having him lean against my shoulder… Once they were done taking photos, Kiki looked up at Kyoko and asked "So…what did you guys name him?"

Kyoko and Makoto smiled at each other before Makoto asked "Kiki, do you remember that huge fog that came the other day?" Seeing Kiki nod, Makoto continued "Well, since it was really foggy while we were driving to the hospital so your Mom could deliver the baby, we thought we should give him a name that has to do with fog or mist."

Kyoko took over, continuing "My last name before I married your father, Kirigiri, contains the Kanji for mist or fog, so we used that as a base. Your Father also remarked on the drive here that it was like driving through a forest, so we thought it might be good to have a name that also had to do with forests or trees. So we threw a couple of ideas around, and we settled on a name that means tree fog, or, Mokubo."

"Mokubo." Kiki repeated "Mokubo Naegi."

Shingi nodded in approval "A fine name indeed for a baby boy."

Hana beamed, nodding in approval along with Komaru while Kiki stroked her brother's hair, cooing "Mokubo…welcome into our family, Mokubo. You have the best Mom and Dad anyone can ask for…and I'll do my best to be a good sister to you. I promise, Mokubo…"

The other smiled at the scene between brother and sister, Mokubo cooing against Kiki's shoulder as she continued to hold him protectively in her arms, already being the sister she vowed to be…the loving sister that Mokubo deserved.
