Chapter 4 – Week One
(Ariadnae POV)
Monday
Red and I finished our breakfasts soon after receiving our timetables and we were soon ready for classes. My sister was excited for Care of Magical Creatures, her favourite subject, whereas I was most looking forward to Potions. Redina loved being outside, amongst the trees and animals, and whilst I loved hunting for rare and new potions ingredients, I loved brewing more, especially inventing new potions or improving substandard ones.
Red and I rose as one, Blaise and Theo rising to join us as we left the Great Hall and walked back down the corridors to the dungeons. The Potions classroom was dark, lit by candles and there were six workstations set up, three on each side. Red and I took the back seats on the left, with Theo and Blaise taking the workstation in front of us, and Draco and Pansy taking the front seats. On the other side of the room sat the Gryffindors. A bushy haired girl and a ginger sat at the front, a messy haired boy that I knew to be Harry Potter sat in the middle, with another boy, this one had brown hair, and I could see him worriedly wringing his hands in his lap. At the back sat another girl, with a bright pink bow in her curly hair, and a young boy with short black hair and mocha skin.
Suddenly, the door slammed shut and Professor Snape swept through the classroom, coming to stand by the desk at the front.
"Welcome to your first O.W.L lesson. As always, I shall accept nothing less than excellency, and there will be no foolish wand-waving accepted in this classroom." The Professor paused to glare at the Gryffindor half of the room, and I could see Draco smirk. "This year will be the hardest yet, preparing you for your exams, and some of you for N.E.W.T level. Today you will be brewing the Draught of Peace. The instructions are on the board and the ingredients in the cupboard. You have two hours." With a flick of his wand the recipe for the Draught of Peace was seen on the board and I confidently went to retrieve the ingredients needed from the cupboard. Having made this myself before, I felt confident in my abilities to do so again.
Our Potions lesson passed quickly, with Red and I earning 50 points for Slytherin for our perfect Draught of Peace, whereas the Gryffindor side of the room lost many points. The front pair, a Weasley and a girl called Granger managed to lose their house 60 points, 30 for the Weasley's incompetence and 30 for the girl being an 'insufferable know-it-all' as the Professor called her. Behind them Potter and the boy next to him, Longbottom, lost 40 points for screwing up their Potion. The green smoke had been a bit of a concern, it didn't take long for it to explode. I learned the back row held a Miss Brown and a Mr Thomas, whom managed to gain 10 points back for their House by creating a passable potion.
Herbology and Transfiguration passed without much of interest happening, except Red and I gaining more house points in both classes. At lunch we sat with Theodore and Blaise across the table from us, with Malfoy and Parkinson sitting further up the table bitching with each other.
As lunch came to an end, Red and I prepared for Politics with Professor Malfoy; it seemed everyone was curious about the new class being introduced.
The four of us rose and spent the walk to the fourth-floor classroom with Theodore and Blaise theorising on Professor Malfoy's abilities as a Professor; apparently they have known him since they were small, with their parents being friends with him and his wife, the Lady Narcissa Malfoy.
We walked into the classroom, sitting once again at the back, with Theodore and Blaise next to us, and the other Slytherin's in front of us. On the other side of the room sat the Ravenclaw's.
'Well at least there shouldn't be any idiotic rivalry in this classroom. Not only does Lord Malfoy not seem the sort to allow it, but the Slytherin's seem to have less issues with the Raven's.' Red thought to me and I nodded back at her.
'True, sister. Can you imagine having this class with the Gryffindor's? You saw what they were like with Professor Snape. I can only imagine what they're going to be like with Professor Malfoy.' I rolled my eyes at the thought The Gryffindor's had been beyond childish in Potions, or at least Weasley, Granger, Thomas and Brown had been. Weasley kept insulting Slytherin's and mumbling under his breath about the Professor. Granger kept speaking out of turn, and then acted like a child when reprimanded for it, seeming to believe that just because she could read a book meant she was entitled to answer over anyone else. Thomas and Brown had messed about the whole lesson, I was surprised when they didn't completely ruin their potion.
'Definitely. I was surprised to see Longbottom and Potter not joining in with the childish behaviour.' That was true, other than screwing up their brewing, the pair had been relatively quiet.
'Someone needs to teach them how to brew properly though.' I saw Red laugh as I replied before we turned our attention back to the current class as Professor Malfoy stepped into the room.
(Redina POV)
Lord Malfoy drew the attention of the class effortlessly as he came out of what I could only assume is his office. His cane tapped on the stone floor, and I couldn't help but admire the silver snake head, my own hand wrapping around the dragon head of my own cane. Few people appreciated a good cane.
We waited as the Professor walked over to the desk, he stood in front of it with his cane in front of him, both hands resting on it as he observed us for a moment.
"Good morning class. Today we will begin with the basics of the Wizengamot." The Professor began to pace along the front of the classroom as he began his lecture. "The Wizengamot is the high court of law and parliament in Britain, dating back to the days of the medieval Wizards Council, before the days of the Ministry of Magic. The Wizengamot has been active since at least 1544 and was incorporated into the Department of Magical Law Enforcement when the Ministry was established in 1707.
"The Wizengamot is headed by the Chief Warlock, currently Headmaster Dumbledore, whom presides over fifty members, including an Interrogator, a Court Scribe, a Special Advisor and a British Youth Representative.
"The members are made up of the Lords or Ladies of the Sacred Twenty-Eight families, plus the Lords or Ladies of the other Houses, and citizen's whom have received an Order of Merlin: First Class in the last twenty-five years. Other members include a representative of Muggle-borns, the High Court and the Low Court and the Head of the Board of Governors for Hogwarts."
As Professor Malfoy lectured, the students dutifully took notes, listening intently to the information being provided.
'Why are all of these people writing so intently? Have they never bothered to learn about their Government?' Ari shook her head confused as she spoke through our link.
'Dumbledore has made this school into a laughing stock. I can't believe that Politics is only now being taught here.' We looked at each other, pausing in our own languid note-taking.
"Draco am I boring you?" Professor Malfoy paused in his lecture, raising an eyebrow at his son.
"No father." Malfoy answered snobbily.
"That is Professor Malfoy. And if I am not boring you perhaps you can tell me why you have not taken a single note?" Malfoy's face blanched as he realised his father was not impressed.
"I-" He stuttered over his reply and I couldn't help the smirk that crossed my face.
"Fifty points from Slytherin and detention tonight with Filch. Perhaps next time you will behave appropriately in my classroom." Draco gaped at his father, the shock clear on his face.
"But…Father!" The idiot started to protest, only for Professor Malfoy to interrupt him.
"One more word and I double it." The man's eyebrow raised at him again, challengingly, and Draco's face flushed in embarrassment, though he didn't say any more. "That is all for today class. For your homework assignment I want at least two and a half feet on the other Courts of the Wizarding World for next week. Dismissed"
Ari and I packed up before leaving the classroom with Blaise and Theodore, waiting until we were outside before we all started laughing.
"That was hilarious!" Blaise wiped the tears of amusement from the corners of his eyes, the whole thing made even more hilarious my Malfoy storming out in a huff, Pansy chasing after him like a little lost puppy.
As we walked outside to go to Care of Magical Creatures, we managed to calm ourselves down. Theodore and Blaise led us to a clearing just inside the Forbidden Forest and I closed my eyes, taking in a deep breath of the fresh air.
As more people gathered around us, I watched their interactions closely. Potter was stood off to one side, his friends talking at him, the girl appeared to be lecturing him. I edged closer to listen.
'Red? Everything ok?' My sister questioned my movement, and I nodded back minutely.
'Yes. Something is up with Potter and the two idiots.' She laughed silently in reply and watched as well.
'Ha. Is that chit trying to lecture Potter for losing points when she herself lost more?' I laughed at Ari's comment.
'It appears so sister. Shall I ask if he wants to work with us?' I asked, tilting my head in question. Ari simply nodded.
"Hey Granger. That's rich considering you lost ten more points than he did." I spoke out loud, tilting my eyebrow at her as she spluttered in indignation. "Nice to meet you Potter. Would you like to work with my sister and I?"
He took a quick glance at his friends, annoyance clear in his eyes, before he nodded, grabbed his bag and walked over to us, the idiots gaping and spluttering behind him. "Thanks. It's nice to meet you too. I'm sorry but I'm not sure which of you is which?"
Ari laughed beside me. "That's ok. I am Ariadnae and my sister is Redina. You may call us Ari and Red, cousin."
"Cousin? What are you talking about?" Harry looked at Ari confused, and she smiled kindly.
"We'll talk about it later. Class is about to start." We all turned to face the half-giant as he stepped into the clearing, a big dog by his side.
"Mornin' class. I decided to star' this year a bi' differen'. We're goin' t' talk abou' the creatures that make our fores' their 'ome." He spoke loudly, the Gryffindor's listened intently whilst the majority of the Slytherin's ignored him, I was ashamed to see. "T' star' off with I'd like ye t' work in groups of five t' come up with a lis' of creatures ye believe live in t' fores'."
Our group turned to one another and we pulled out a piece of parchment. Blaise and Theodore seem disgruntled at the addition of Potter in our group but a quick glare from my sister and I, and they held their tongues.
"This seems right up your alley Potter. From what I hear, you like to wander the forest at night." Theodore spoke first, and I was relieved to see Potter just laughed at his comment, rather than getting offended.
"That's true. I have a fondness for the outdoors and often take walks through the forest. As such, I have met many of the creatures which inhabit it." He took a breath in thought, before he carried on. "So, there are the tribe of Centaurs, led by Bane. I have met a few of the tribe and am proud to say I would even call a few my friends."
"That is very impressive. Centaurs have an inherent distrust of humans in general. But from what I can tell the British Centaurs are even more wary because of the societal prejudice within Magical Britain." Potter ducked his head at my compliment, as Ari wrote 'Centaurs' on our list.
"That is true. I have had many discussions with Bane and other centaurs regarding Wizarding Politics and societal beliefs about Centaurs." I smiled, Potter's Black intelligence was showing. "I've also had the displeasure of meeting the nest of Acromantula."
"Acromantula are fascinating creatures. Terrifying but fascinating." Blaise spoke excitedly, well as excitedly as a Slytherin does.
"Plus, their parts, when ethically sourced, are excellent for various potions." Ari added, and I chuckled at her.
"Only you sister." She shrugged at me, adding 'Acromantulas' to the list.
The rest of the lesson passed in much the same way before the Professor spoke up. "Well class, tha' is all for t'day. Fo' 'omework I'd like ye t' choose one o' the creatures ye've come up with and study them more, in the same groups as now. If ye can, go an' mee' 'em. In two weeks, ye'll presen' to the res' o' the class. Dismissed."
"Shall we meet during tomorrow's study break to plan the assignment?" Ari suggested, to which we all agreed to meet in the library.
With the decision made, we walked back to the castle, talking quietly, before Harry split from us to go to the Gryffindor common room, whilst we walked to the Slytherin common room.
The rest of the evening passed quietly, before we all went to bed, Ari and I thinking about our first day at Hogwarts.
Tuesday
The next day passed quietly for the most part. Our first two lessons were Charms and Muggle Studies which were uneventful, being with the Hufflepuffs rather than the Gryffindors. Charms was interesting though Ari and I were already familiar with the colour-changing charm we were learning. Muggle Studies on the other hand, was completely useless, as Professor Burbage knows nothing about muggles.
Our next lesson was a Flying Lesson, which we both enjoyed as we love the freedom of being in the air. Having the class with Gryffindor was interesting too, it was easy to see that Potter felt the same way that we did.
Finally, after lunch we had a two-hour session of Defence Against the Dark Arts.
(Third POV)
The two Professors waited as the students settled into their seats, the Gryffindor's on one side, and Slytherin's on the other.
"Good-morning class. As many of you will remember I am Professor Lupin. This is Professor Black. Together we will be teaching you Defence Against the Dark Arts." Many of the students looked at Professor Black warily, though they knew that his name had been cleared, it was still hard to let go of previous beliefs.
"I understand your wariness, but I assure you that I am completely innocent of the crimes I was charged with and you have nothing to fear from me." Professor Black's easy smile reassured the students and the Professors swiftly moved on.
"Why do we have two teachers? Can't do the job on your own?" The Malfoy boy sniggered, his friends joining in, and the Gryffindor's glared at them.
"Careful Mr Malfoy, I understand you've already been given one detention this week. Do you really want to add another to that?" Professor Lupin rose an eyebrow at the boy. "But to answer your question, there are certain topics which we each excel in and we will be able to cover more."
"Now to start with, we know the instruction in the class has been very varied over the years. For this first lesson we are going to go over all of the spells you should have been taught in the last four years to see what level you are all at." Professor Black started. "Please all stand and move your bags to the side of the classroom." As the students stood, the tables were banished and they all moved their bags, ready to start the class.
"Wands out, and pair up." The students all paired up as Professor Lupin instructed, "to start with I'd like each of you to practice the Disarming Charm. For those of you who can't remember the incantation is 'expelliarmus' and the wand movement is a quick and simple flick. I shall demonstrate."
The Professor turned to his partner and demonstrated "Expelliarmus." Professor Black's wand flew from his grip and into the other man's outstretched hand. "Now you try."
The pairs of students moved apart, lining up on each side of the room and began. Most of the students were able to disarm their partner, with some needing to try two or three times. A couple struggled but the Professor's were quick to help and they moved onto the Full Body-Bind Curse.
The class passed in this fashion, until the Professors called an end to the session, after nearly two hours.
"Ok that is enough for today. Great job everyone, have done very well. For this week's homework, we want two feet on the theory behind hex-deflection, due next Tuesday." The students groaned at the assignment before leaving the classroom.
(Ariadnae POV)
Wednesday
Wednesday morning saw us preparing for our hand-to-hand combat lessons with father. Red and I were up early and heading down to breakfast wearing workout leggings, vest tops and trainers, with our wands holstered to our thighs. The other students stared at us, the Slytherin's in disgust at our attire. We had warned Theodore and Blaise to be in workout gear, and despite being sceptical, they were wearing tracksuit bottoms, t-shirts and trainers as well, with their wands holstered to their forearms.
We all ate a protein-filled breakfast and had plenty of water before we left early. We all walked to the quidditch pitch and dumped our bags by the bleachers before Red and I started stretching.
"What are you two doing?" Blaise questioned us confused.
"We're stretching, and I suggest you both do the same." Red replied. They just started at us blankly and we sighed in unison.
"Merlin, have you never done any physical activity? You need to warm up your muscles. Trust me you're going to want to." I rolled my eyes. "Fine just copy us."
We led them through some stretches and were just finishing up when the rest of the class arrived.
Malfoy stared at us, clearly disgusted, but decided against commenting as our father walked out onto the pitch. Upon seeing his attire, black workout leggings, a vest and dragonhide trainers, wand holstered to his thigh, the rest of the class realised their mistake in wearing school robes.
"Well I see only four of you decided to turn up to my class in the proper attire." He spoke, his brow furrowed at the rest of the class.
"You never told us that we needed other clothes." Malfoy interrupted, like the idiot he is.
"And what were you expecting in a hand-to-hand combat lesson Mr Malfoy?" We smothered our amusement as Malfoy's face tightened in anger.
"My father will hear about this!" He spat out, like a child throwing tantrum, and father was unimpressed.
"You are right. I will personally be telling him you failed to turn up to my class in the proper attire and then proceeded to act like a five-year-old who's lost their favourite teddy. And for your behaviour you can also drop and give me twenty." Fathers face was blank as he crossed his arm across his chest, waiting for Malfoy to do his push-ups.
Malfoy looked around confused, and Red and I again had to smother our laughter.
"Twenty what?" He finally asked.
"Push-ups." Father replied.
"What is Merlin's name is a push-up?" Malfoy still looked clueless and this time we couldn't hold in our amusement. We laughed quietly, trying to hide it behind our hands, and quickly coughed to stop ourselves at a sharp look from our father.
Father sighed at his lack of knowledge before demonstrating, dropping to the floor and quickly repping out ten push-ups. He stood and Malfoy continued to gape at him incredulously.
"You expect me to do that?!" He spluttered.
"Yes and for everyone who speaks out of turn in this class, know that I won't be giving out detentions. For every infraction you will do push-ups or another exercise." His gaze swept across the class before landing back on Malfoy. "Now Mr. Malfoy."
We watched as Malfoy slowly got to his knees, and we again had to smother our laughter, this time at his attempt at a push-up. He sloppily managed seven, before his arms gave out and he fell to the floor.
Father sighed again, "you may finish at the end of the session Mr. Malfoy. But you will finish them today. As for the rest of you that are not prepared for my class, you will complete today in your robes. Perhaps that will remind you all to come to the next class with the proper clothing on. Now I want you all to do five laps of the quidditch pitch."
Red and I took off at a brisk jog, Theodore and Blaise just behind us, not quite as brisk, whilst the other students were much slower behind us all.
The two of us finished our five laps quickly, and then wait by our father for the others to finish. After another four minutes the rest of the class joined us, breathing heavily and already sweating profusely.
"Certainly room for improvement for most of you, but overall not as terrible as it could have been. Next, squats; you will all be two minutes of squats."
It didn't take long for people to start moaning about the squats and the same can be said for the rest of the class. After squatting we moved on to lunges, push-ups, sit-ups and many other exercises designed to start building the classes fitness levels.
The two-hour class finished with another five laps of the pitch, which took noticeably longer for the rest of the class. Malfoy then had to complete his twenty push-ups, which he wasn't impressed with after doing the rest of the class.
We all then showered before having our morning break. After which we went to Charms and then Politics, the latter of which it was able to see that Professor Malfoy was unimpressed with his son's behaviour in the morning class.
After lunch we had a double session of Astronomy with the Centaur Firenze, then dinner and bed.
Thursday
Our first lesson on Thursday was Healing with mother, which we shared with Hufflepuff. As we waited outside of the classroom Red and I observed the Hufflepuffs. We had had a few classes with them so far this week but had yet to really interact with them. Hopefully we would have a chance to do so soon.
"Please come in." Mother spoke from the doorway to the classroom as she ushered us all into the class. "Everyone take a seat, and please mix it up. I want to see both houses together, two of each house to a row."
Red and I moved to the front of the class, claiming two seats in the front row, Red on the end and me to her right, two empty chairs next to me. They were quickly filled by two Hufflepuff girls who glanced at us nervously. I smile reassuringly at them and they smiled back a little nervously as they settled into their seats.
"Hello everyone and welcome to your first Healing lesson. I am Healer Xanthia Black. I have been a practicing Medi-Witch for twenty-years now, specialising in midwifery. I will be assisting Madame Pomfrey in the Healing Ward as well as teaching you the complexities of Healing. I hope that you will all enjoy learning the skill, and I'd like you to know that my door is always open to offer assistance to any student."
"Now for your first lesson, we will begin by discussing a simple diagnostic spell." Mother began after we had all found seats. "The incantation for the Diagnosis Spell is egritudo. And the wand movement is as such," Mother demonstrated the wand movement; a simple clockwise (from the casters perspective) oval movement, as if encasing the patient.
"You have half an hour to practice on the dummies in front of you. I will be going around and assisting any who need it."
Red and I performed the spell a number of times, but having been taught many healing spells by our mother in the past, didn't need much practice, and so turned to our textbooks instead.
"Excuse me?" I turned to the girl next to me as she interrupted me from my reading.
"Yes?" I smiled slightly to ease her nerves.
"I was wondering if you might be able to help me, I seem to be having some trouble." She gestured to her dummy sheepishly.
"Of course, my name is Ariadnae Black." I nodded to her.
"Susan Bones. It is lovely to meet you." She smiled, seemingly more at ease.
"Likewise. This is my sister, Redina." I gestured to Red by my side, who nodded to Susan.
"Hello." Susan spoke shyly to Red.
"Don't mind her, she just prefers animals." I laughed quietly. "Right, give the spell a go."
"Egritudo!" She spoke the spell quickly and performed the wand movement, but all that happened was the dummy swayed slightly.
"Ah I see what you're doing wrong. You need to enunciate the t more strongly." I started.
"Yes and speak slightly slower. You should speak the second half of the spell as your wand comes back up. Like this," Red demonstrated what she meant, saying the egri part of the spell on the downwards half of the oval, and the tudo as she moved her wand on the upwards glide. A white glowed travelled over dummy before disappearing.
"Oh!" Susan performed the spell again, copying Red's movements and this time the white glow appeared for her too. "Thank you!" She smiled happily as she performed the spell correctly and turned back to us.
"You're welcome." I smiled in return, as did Red.
"Oh this is my friend Hannah Abbott." She turned to the girl next to her.
"Pleasure to meet you. How are you getting on?" I gestured to her dummy.
"And you. I was struggling but I heard your notes to Susan and now I believe I've got it." She performed the spell herself and her dummy glowed as Susan's had.
"Perfect." I smiled at her. "So what do you girls like to do in your spare time?" I asked curiously as the rest of the class continued to practise.
"Well let's see, we both like going on morning runs, reading, and swimming. The lake is great for swimming, even in the colder months, we find it very refreshing." Susan started.
"Plus I love exploring the Forbidden Forest when I can and Susan likes playing Wizards chess. I never quite got the tactics of that." Hannah continued, laughing at the end.
"That's great. Would you mind company on those runs? We run in the mornings too, we keep quite a strict exercise regimen. We have to with a combat master as a father!" I asked.
"Sure! We tend to run around the lake. Meet you outside the main doors at 6am tomorrow?" Susan happily offered.
"Sounds good. We'll be there." Red gave a small smile back, before we were interrupted from our conversation by Mother.
"Ok class, that is enough for today. Excellent job all of you. Redina, Ariadnae 10 points each for helping your fellow students. And Susan and Hannah, 10 points for picking it up so well." Mother smiled at our group. "Now for your homework this week I'd like two foot on the uses of the Diagnostic Spell, the advantages, the fallbacks etcetera. Class dismissed."
With that we packed up our things and left the classroom, looking forward to our morning run tomorrow, with, hopefully, potential new friends.
Friday
Red and I started the last day of the week with a run with Susan and Hannah as promised and we soon found we had much in common. With the promise to work out together again the next morning, we had parted to shower before classes.
After our morning study break and Flying lesson, Red and I were making our way to Professor Malfoy's classroom, Theo and Blaise in tow, for our Wizarding Etiquette lesson.
'This should be a good class Sister. Professor Malfoy is a very good teacher.' I spoke to Ari through our connection.
'True.' She replied as we reached the classroom.
We walked into the classroom and took the same seats as we had in Politics. Sadly, this class was with Gryffindor, so there was likely to be some sort of drama.
"Good morning class, and welcome to your first Wizarding Etiquette lesson. We will begin with the basics. Introducing oneself." Professor Malfoy began the lesson, and I heard a scoff from the Gryffindor side of the room. "Yes Miss Granger? A problem?"
I could see the challenge in his eyes and I shook my head at her stupidity when she answered.
"Yes. Why do we need to learn this? We all know how to introduce ourselves." She questioned, with an air of superiority about her.
'Seriously? This girl is a muggleborn. And from what I've seen she has no idea how to conduct herself in the Wizarding World.' Red sounded very disbelieving as she spoke through our connection, and I could only nod in agreement as I watched the girl in disbelief.
"Really?" The Professor rose an eyebrow at her. "Well go on then. Up front Miss Granger, introduce yourself to me."
The idiotic girl got up from her seat and hurried to the front of the classroom. Turning to the Professor she stuck out her hand and spoke, "Hello Sir, I am Hermione. It is a pleasure to meet you."
The Professor looked at her hand in disgust. "You could not be more incorrect Miss Granger. In fact, that is very much an insult. Sit down and pay attention to my class. Do not presume to interrupt me again."
The Slytherin's snickered as she hurried back to her chair, head hung in shame.
"Now lets see if anyone else can do better. Miss Black, perhaps you would like to demonstrate to your fellow classmates the proper method of introducing oneself?" He looked in our direction.
'You go Ari.' I nodded discretely to Red as I got up elegantly from my seat and moved to the front of the class.
"Lord Malfoy, my name is Ariadnae Black. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance." I bent at the waist, bowing respectfully to the Professor.
He bowed in return and he replied "The pleasure is all mine Miss Black. Thank you. Please return to your seat."
He turned back to the class as I returned to my seat. "That is how one introduces oneself correctly. You do not offer your hand, that is how muggles introduce themselves. You acknowledge the name of the person you are speaking to, using their correct title, before telling them your own name and saying it a pleasure tome them or something similar. If you have a title, you use it. And bow at the end. The depth of bow shows the respect you hold for the other person, and their status. The lower the bow the higher their status and the more you respect them."
"That is some pureblood crap." The Weasley boy spoke and I couldn't help but sigh at his stupidity.
"No that is Wizarding Etiquette Mr Weasley, just because your bumbling fool of a father prefers the likes of Muggles, does not mean our own traditions should be forgotten. 20 points from Gryffindor for your interruption and language." I saw the Professors eye twitch as he spoke about the boy's father and I assumed there was a story there.
'There is a story there. We'll have to ask the boys about the Professor and the boy's father.' I said to Red.
'Definitely. What is wrong with these Gryffindors?' She asked me.
'I have no idea. Look at Harry.' We both turned discretely to look at Harry who seemed to be trying to move his chair away from the other two idiots, though was finding difficulty in that as he was sat between the two.
'We need to try and talk to him more. He doesn't seem too enchanted with his two supposedly best friends.' Red spoke to me.
I was surprised by her willingness to speak to him, she usually wasn't too quick to like someone, but I was pleased she wanted to befriend Harry, especially as he is our cousin.
'Agreed Sister.' I answered her before tuning back into the Professor.
"Now I would like you all to go around the classroom introducing yourselves to each other in the proper Wizarding manner." We all stood, and the Professor waved his wand, causing the desks to move to the sides of the room.
We spent the next forty minutes introducing ourselves to everyone in the class, before the Professor stopped us and we moved on to introducing other people. We spent the rest of the lesson doing that before we all went to lunch.
"Excuse me." Red and I were pulled from our conversation with the boys by a voice behind us. Turning in our seats we were greeted by a pretty blonde in a Ravenclaw uniform, and earrings which appeared to be made from radishes.
"Hello. May we help you?" I asked kindly, she seemed sweet.
"Hello. My name is Luna. Luna Lovegood." She smiled a bit dreamily and held out her hand.
"Lovegood you say? Is your father Xenophilius Lovegood?" Red asked her after we have both shaken her hand.
"Yes. Daddy is your mother's brother." She smiled at us as she pointed at our mother at the head table, where she sat eating lunch with our father.
"Well, cousin, it is nice to finally meet you." I stood and gave her a hug. "It will be nice to get to know you."
"That's nice. I would enjoy that too." She smiled back at me, before turning and skipping towards her House table.
I shook my head amused as I sat back down to finish my lunch.
