After saying goodbye to her bobblehead twin, Raven sighed. So much had happened so quickly, the day was still a blur in her mind. She turned to look back at the Tower and almost didn't notice the miniature boy wonder standing in front of her. She had not had any personal interaction with Robin's diminutive twin. She looked down at him. He sweat dropped and smiled nervously. She frowned back at him.
"What?" She asked in a curt tone.
"I ... I want to ask for some advice."
She rolled her eyes before replying. "About Starfire?"
He dug the ball of his foot into the ground and folded his arms behind his back.
"Uh … yeah."
Raven looked at him. While he bore a striking resemblance to the Robin she knew and loved like a brother, she felt a combination of pity and revulsion for the masked midget.
"Are you sure you want to hear what I have to say?"
Robin looked up at the statuesque Azarathian. She seemed a lot more level headed and diplomatic than his Raven, but he knew appearances could be deceiving.
"Sure … go ahead … I can take it."
She sighed again.
"Well … maybe you should talk with Robin about this. I don't know anything about dating."
"I already did. All he did was say that I'm short, weird and not a good fighter."
"Well, he did kick your butt in the arena."
"It wasn't a fair fight!" He snapped at her.
She suddenly looked cross and she narrowed her eyes. "OK then, you want my opinion? You got it … first of all, you're whiny. That's a huge turn off."
He raised his hand to object, but dropped it while remaining silent.
"Fair enough," He replied. "Tell me, what was the first thing you noticed about your Robin?"
Her frown began to fade. Maybe there was hope for the bobblehead after all.
"There were a few things, actually. For starters, he wasn't bossy. When Starfire fell from the sky and was belligerent, he was willing to face her alone, yet he didn't try to hurt her, That really stood out to me, it was very mature and brave of him. But there's more. He made me feel welcome. He always has, even when he found out who I really am. When that happened I expected to be thrown out of the Tower, but he was there for me."
"I've always welcomed Raven."
"Because you're afraid of her. Not because you respect her."
"OK … maybe."
"Listen, if you want to win Starfire over, you will need to be selfless and self confident. Trying to be the center of attention won't work. That said, I think it's too late for you to win her back. You know what they say about first impressions."
He became crestfallen. "I see, you also think I'm a loser."
"I never said that. You were very brave today when fighting Hexagon, you reminded me of my Robin."
"I did?"
She closed her eyes and nodded.
"So what do I have to do?"
"Just don't try so hard. If it isn't meant to be, then it isn't … that said ..." she paused, then continued in a whisper. "... you could try to make her jealous."
"Jealous? How am I supposed to do that?"
Again, she rolled her eyes. "Surely, some girl has shown interest in you."
"Now that you mention it, Blackfire kind of likes me."
"Don't even joke about that. Is there anyone else?" She snapped at him.
"Well, Batgirl has, or should I say, will."
Raven recalled the Barbara Gordon from her universe. She was well stacked, a very attractive woman.
"Will? Are you talking about time travel?"
He nodded. "Actually, we get married in the future, after I become Nightwing."
Raven stroked her chin. "I know this isn't what you want to hear, but maybe that's who you should focus on."
"But I want Starfire!"
"We don't always get what we want, and you could do a lot worse than Batgirl. Look, when a woman wants you, it makes you more desirable to other women."
Robin snapped his fingers. "Of course! When Beast Boy was dating Terra, you got jealous too."
Her nostrils flared. "What did you say?"
"Sorry, I was talking about my Raven. So … you and Beast Boy aren't a couple in this universe?"
"Most certainly not!" She said in a very offended tone, before calming herself. "So, did Garfield really date Terra?"
"Well, supposedly, though I don't really know how far they got as a couple. But our Raven, between you and me, she was really jealous and was happy when they broke up."
He looked over his shoulder, then turned back to Raven.
"Looks like it's time to go home."
She picked him up from under his arms and hugged him.
"Good luck, little brother."
"Thanks, big sister." He replied, before disappearing into the whirlagog created portal with his team.
The local changeling approached her. "So, you and little Robin had a chat, huh?"
"He was asking for dating advice."
"You mean for Starfire?" He chuckled. "What did you tell him?"
"Not much, I have zero experience dating."
"Yeah, me too."
"I thought you dated Terra." She asked very innocently, glancing at him through the corners of her eyes without turning her head.
"That doesn't count. She was just using me." He replied in a dejected tone.
"I see … Gar … I was wondering … would you like to go on a date with me?"
HE did a double take.
"Really? A date? You aren't yanking my chain are you?"
"I'm serious."
He blinked a few times before answering.
"Sure … so what would you like to do?"
"No video arcades, comic book stores or movies about zombies." She quickly replied.
"How about we go to the zoo, then we grab some dinner afterwards?"
She nodded her assent. "How about we get something to eat at the Sartre Cafe?"
"That's the place you go to listen to dark poetry, right? Sounds good to me. They do have vegetarian food, right?"
She nodded. "It's a date ... and Gar ..."
"Yeah?"
"Don't ruin it."
