Cupid's Arrow:
Chapter 4:
Angelica's Apartment
"Get your shoes on."
The young boy sat on the couch, setting his toy dinosaurs aside for a moment or two. "Why, Mama? Isn't Aunt Peggy coming over?" The five-year-old asked as he tilted his head to the side as he watched his mother get ready for work.
Angelica let out a small sigh before she gave him a small smile. "Aunt Peggy has a class today and Mama needs to go to work to meet with a few people for a little while. You can bring your dinosaurs if you'd like."
"But what about Aunt Eliza?"
"Aunt Eliza is going to pick you up there once she's off work, but I need you to get your shoes on now."
"I don't wanna! It's no fun there!"
"Philip! Put your shoes on! We're running late as it is!"
The five-year-old huffed as he slid off his couch, putting his shoes on his feet before picking up his dinosaurs once again. "I'm ready, Mama."
"Thank you, now let's go."
Colonial Studios
John let out a low whistle as he glanced around the studio they were in before he glanced over at Alexander. "I don't know, if you're having second thoughts about this I'll take your place on the show."
"John, you're gay."
John only grinned as he nudged him. "Hey, it'll make a headline when we finally split up."
Before Alexander could respond he looked up and saw Angelica making her way over to them with a small boy in tow. "Mr. Hamilton," she nodded at Alexander before she looked over at John. "Mr. Hamilton's friend."
John stuck his hand out to her for her to shake. "Hi, I'm John Laurens. A friend of Alexander's, nice to meet you."
Angelica nodded and took it. "Nice to meet you too."
Angelica felt a tugging on her shirt, glancing down to see her son standing there looking up at her, a frown on her lips as she looked at the boy. "What is it, Philip?"
"Mama, I'm bored. Can we play?"
John smiled a moment later before he bent down in front of the boy. "Hey, why don't the two of us go play? How does that sound? I think your Mama has some work to get done with my friend, but you have some cool dinosaurs."
Philip paused a moment before he glanced up at his mother. "Mama?"
Angelica looked over at John and gave him a small smile before looking down at Philip and nodded. "Go ahead and thank you."
John nodded as he lead the boy away from the two of them before she turned back to Alexander. "Sorry about that, my sister is going to come and get him as soon as she can."
Alexander nodded giving her a small smile. "It's alright. No worries, really."
Angelica nodded her head down the hall. "Why don't you follow me? You still haven't met our executive producer, Thomas Jefferson, I don't think?"
Alexander shook his head as he followed her down the hall. "I think at our lunch meeting you said he as busy."
Angelica nodded as she stopped outside of Thomas' office and knocked once on the door before hearing a 'come in'. Without another word, she reached out and opened the door, coming inside with Alexander in tow behind her. "Thomas, I want you to meet the face of this new season of out show." She held out her hand, gesturing to Alexander.
Thomas stood up from behind his desk and made his way over to Alexander. "It's nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you too, sir."
Thomas gestured to chairs behind him, motioning for Alexander to sit. "Have a seat and I'll give you a little run down of how it's going to work out." There was a pause before he began once again. "Would you like anything before we get started? Coffee or water?"
Alexander shook his head as Angelica lowered herself in the seat next to his, taking out a laptop that she had in her bag, ready to take some notes on the meeting. "I'm fine, just ready to begin."
"Of course," Thomas repeated as he reached into his pocket and took out a pair of reading glasses. "So, every week you'll go on a date with a woman that we hand picked for the show. These women have been vetted and carefully looked at. They're all fine young woman if I do say so myself. Angelica does a great job with the process."
Angelica looked up from her computer, giving a small nod.
"We do asked to refrain from getting physical in any way with the women that you date on the show."
Alexander rose an eyebrow. "You mean having sex, right?"
Thomas cleared his throat, nodding his head. "Yes, that is what I mean."
"Right, I'll make a note of that."
"To insure that you're only seeing the women on the show, we do have a place for you to stay. You can't go out and get anything or even talk to friends. It could be drastic and have severe implications and consequences because how are we going to sell the show if you found love outside of it, yeah?"
"What if I need something?"
"You'll have direct contact with either Angelica or myself, if you need anything at all."
Alexander nodded. "Right."
"Any other questions?"
"When do we start?"
"Monday morning we'll move you into where we want you staying for the show. Until then I suppose you best tell your friends and family that you'll talk to them once you finish filming the show."
"One more question?"
Thomas blinked. "What is it?"
"What if, at the end, I'm not interested in any of the choices?"
Thomas frowned as he looked down at his notes before he glanced over at Alexander. "I suppose, we'll cross that bridge if we get there, Mr. Hamilton."
