Chapter 1 The Death of Oliver Queen

"I knew I chose well with you, boy." Ra's al Ghul painfully said as he handed Oliver the ring. The man glanced one last time at Oliver before he fell forward dying from the sword wound.

When Ra's al Ghul had finally collapsed to the ground on top of the Starling City Dam Oliver could finally breathe a sigh of relief for the first time. Oliver had finally stopped him. He felt freedom that he hadn't felt for months. No more League, and no more Ra's. Before he could enjoy the feeling of freedom he was struck twice hard in the chest. From the great force of the bullets Oliver was flung over the side of the dam. Oliver was falling for a few seconds before he quickly regained his composure and quickly put the ring Ra's had given him in his pocket before he shifted into a diver's position as he headed closer to water. When he impacted with it he was easily able to slip into the water before he began swimming away with the current.

When he resurfaced Oliver gasped for air and felt a pain through his chest where the sniper had shot him. He had seen the police at the dam and knew that getting shot and dying was a possibility. Oliver had welcomed it since it meant he would not have to worry about what he was going to say to his team and his loved one. But Oliver knew the sensation that he felt was not the sensation of dying. He knew that he was not feeling any corresponding pains in his back which meant the League armor must have held up. Unfortunately.

After the current had petered off he grunted lowly from the pain and began swimming to the shore. Oliver pulled himself up as he made it to shore before he slowly fell back onto the mud.

"This is the first time in eight years that I have been able to admire the night sky."

Oliver thought to himself as he starred up into the night sky for a few moments. While he laid there Oliver train of thought continued. Eight years. That was how long he had been in this life. What had this life brought him? Pain, loss, suffering, and most importantly so much death. What had he gotten for trying to save his city by being the Arrow and the Hood? Ridicule and admiration from the citizens of Starling depending on the public opinion of him. The city time and time again threatened from common criminals, organized crime, or the new term that Barry seems to be coining them as, 'super-villains' like Merlyn, Slade, and Ra's? Two of which he brought to this city because he merely survived and existed.

"What's the point?" Oliver mumbled still staring into the night sky. As if he was asking someone. With his question not answered Oliver's anger began to rise.

"What's the damn point of all this misery and death?" Oliver yelled at the sky. When there was no reply Oliver was not at all surprised, not like he was expecting one. While Oliver had come to terms that the world was a lot bigger and that demons and angels existed after his encounter with Constantine on the island. And even bigger with metahumans now. Oliver did not believe that whatever higher power exited would answer him. He also didn't believe that the higher power was good, fair, or kind. The past eight years of his life had proved that to Oliver.

After a few more minutes of merely staring at the stars, he felt the pain again. He slowly sat up and finally examined his chest before pulling the bullets out. He looked at them for a second before throwing them to the side and standing back up. Oliver winced from the pain that launched through his chest which unfortunately would remain for a few days. They would most likely bruise. Once again he had survived even if he had not wanted to survive. He and Ra's were supposed to have died on the plane when it crashed. Oliver knew that his next conversation could have been avoided if only Ra's had not escaped in the first place. He now had to deal with the backlash of his decision to work with Malcolm and his plan to infiltrate the League.

Palmer Technologies

Oliver was not surprised that when he entered the top level of Palmer Tech that there was tension that could be seen and easily be cut with a knife. Merlyn and Nyssa were standing as far from each other and openly glaring at one another. The vigilantes were all sending them a wary eye watching their every move. Though everyone's attention changed and followed him as he entered through the doors.

"You killed my father." Nyssa stated breaking the silence as she greeted him while walking toward him.

"I had to." Oliver answered only to receive a glare from Nyssa.

"I wanted to be the one." She replied and stared at him for a moment longer before walking back to her spot with her eyes not leaving Malcolm's form. Oliver sent both Malcolm and Nyssa a look before he stopped near the center of the group of people who had become the protectors of this city tonight and he looked over them all for a second.

"When I started my mission, I wanted to go it alone. But the truth is that we won tonight because I was not alone. I always believed that my crusade would end with my death. But even if I had died the mission would live on, this city isn't lacking heroes." Oliver said but took a second before continuing, "Which is why I no longer need to be one." The whole group found expressions of shock. Thea face expressed the most shock from the news.

"What are you saying?" Thea asked. Oliver attention narrowed toward Thea.

"Ra's took the Arrow identity from me. I could not be that person even if I wanted to be. Which I do not want to anymore. I am leaving." Oliver responded. This elicited surprise from the group. None of them believing what they were hearing.

"Why? Where?" Thea quickly asked. Oliver saw the confused and hurt expression that had formed on her face from the declaration. He knew that this would hurt her, but he needed to get away so that he would not hurt her even more. He had wanted to sacrifice his life for the city and Thea instead of the alternative, this conversation, and the outcome. Oliver had thought about the current path he was on and knew it was for the best.

"I am leaving because this world is changing, Thea. A world that has grown beyond my original crusade of fighting corruption and criminals and I am not the man to take up that fight anymore. You, John, Ray, and Felicity are better equipped for this fight. You are more like Barry than I am. This world needs heroes like that not vigilantes like me. And to where? Someplace far away from here." Oliver answered Thea before turning his back on the stunned group and walking away but not before he gave one last statement. "My path is a lonely one from here on out, and I understood that moment I failed the plane crash to kill Ra's and the moment I survived the sniper shots that followed killing Ra's. Goodbye."

Oliver left leaving the stunned group before they could respond as he made his way out.

"This is better," Oliver thought "It is better for them. To sever all the bonds then allow them to be repaired. Especially with what is to come."

Starling General Hospital

Oliver had been here too many times over the last year. Visiting his doctor who had been trying to help him over the last year. As he entered through her door he came to her going over a file before she looked up and gave him an inquisitive glance.

"Mr. Queen? What are you doing here late at night? Especially in... normal attire." She asked slightly confused.

"Dr. Schwartz. I wanted to thank you for all you have tried to do in curing my disease. But I am leaving Starling and am not planning on coming back." Oliver answered and he watched her eyes go wide.

"Oliver, there are still some professionals that I haven't reached out to. There is still a chance…" The doctor said quickly but she never got to finish as she was cut off.

"No. I am done. I don't want to try and fight it anymore." Oliver stated firmly and he walked toward her and extended his hand toward her. "Thank you for trying but I just don't care to try and fight it anymore. Also thank you for keeping my secrets about this and my...old nighttime activities." She looked at him sadly and she took his hand and shook it. He then reached into his pocket and took out three flash drives and handed them to her. She took them from Oliver but was confused what they were as she looked to Oliver for an answer.

"The two red flash drives, they hold messages for a friend of mine in Central City and my sister. That will explain what has happened to me and my final words to them. The last is for Susan Williams, Channel 52 reporter, it contains a confession so a friend of mine does not pay the rest of his life for my deeds. As a last request could you have these delivered to them. The two red ones to my sister first and then Susan Williams a day or so after?" Oliver answered her unasked question. She looked glanced at what she was being entrusted with. The Will of Oliver Queen.

"I can do that for you, Oliver." She quietly answered. Oliver nodded before turning around and began leaving.

"Where will you go?" She quickly asked before he was out the door.

"Somewhere far away." Oliver answered not turning around as he continued walking out leaving the doctor to watch one of her few failed patients leave to his death.

Starling City Cemetery

While Oliver was waiting for the person he had called to show up he was standing in front of the headstone of the person that was once his whole world. The woman was the most important person to him in the whole world. Dinah Laurel Lance.

He sadly stared at her headstone and didn't flinch or acknowledge the woman he had called when he felt her walking up to him. Nor did he when she stood next to him and stare longingly at the headstone next to Laurel's. Sara Lance. When Oliver finally turned he saw the sadness radiating from Nyssa as she looked at her 'beloved's' grave.

"Nyssa, thank you for meeting me here." Oliver said breaking the silence. She regained her composure quickly and her longingness and sadness that was radiating off her evaporating as she turned to him.

"Why call me Oliver? From your little speech, you sounded like you didn't want anything to do with anyone anymore?" Nyssa coolly asked. Oliver turned his attention back to look at Laurel's grave for a few moments until shifting his gaze to Nyssa.

"I wanted to tell you of the deal that I had previously made with Merlyn. If he helped me infiltrate the league then I would give him this." Oliver said as he pulled out Ra's al Ghul's ring as her eyes widened momentarily before they hardened into a murderous glare that she sent him. "So that he could become the next Ra's al Ghul." She growled and was about to yell at him before she was cut off. "But I am not going to." Her anger evaporated instantly and turned into confusion as he turned fully to her.

"I want to give it to you. You are the only person that I can trust with this power. The one who has trained for it her entire life. If you desire it." Oliver stated. She was caught by surprise before a small smile graced her face as she went to grab it only for Oliver to pull it back. "On one condition, you can't kill or order Malcolm Merlyn's death." Anger instantly presented itself once again.

"Why? That monster deserves death. He killed Sara. How could you not want this, of all people? Do you not want him dead?" She yelled in anger. Though she was caught by surprise by the anger that graced Oliver.

"You don't think I want him dead? He took everything away from me. He sabotaged the Queen's Gambit and sentenced me to 5 years of hell. He pushed my father to kill himself, to sacrifice himself so I could live. And because of the island, Slade Wilson came to this city and killed my mother. Merlyn killed Tommy, his own son, my best friend and your beloved Sarah, and the love of my life, Laurel. He used my sister's life so that I would help him with your father. So, never." His voice rose to a yell. "NEVER question that I don't want him killed. Because I would like nothing more for that man to be 6 feet under." Oliver angrily answered. Nyssa couldn't understand why he wouldn't want her to kill him.

"Then why?" Nyssa angrily asked the question that she had. Nyssa watched Oliver's anger temper and completely evaporate before he looked back at the headstone.

"Because I need him to look after Thea after I am gone. Because he will be the last of her family in about 5 months." Oliver solemnly answered. Her expressed shifted from anger to confusion.

"What?" She asked.

"I am dying, Nyssa. I have 5 months, 6 months at best." Oliver answered.

"How did it happen?" Nyssa asked shocked by the news.

"It is internal. On some of the last days that I was on the island. I was injected with a serum developed by the KGB called the Red Death. It forces the subject to relive painful experiences and memories through touch. It causes hallucinations that are there to drive the subject insane. It is supposed to cause psychological damage. No one aside from myself has been injected and not killed themselves. There has been no record of long term side effects since no one has survived longer than 24 hours after injection. I found out it had affected me over the first two years, but I had barely noticed. It has become worse over the last year since Slade killed my mother. It was then that I started to notice the effects. Hallucinations began happening and they have become more frequent and worse. I have also been having random pains throughout my body that have taken its toll. I seemed to get slower and pained more. I visited a doctor to see if there was a cure. Unfortunately, there is none. So, I need Malcolm to live so that he can protect Thea. We both hate him, but I need him. It pains me to say it. So, I ask, can you not have Malcolm killed as a last request of a dead man walking?" He replied. She stared at him for a minute and Oliver could not read her unchanged expression.

"I can accommodate your last request, husband. Merlyn will live. And as my first act, I plan on annulling our marriage." Nyssa coolly responded. Oliver nodded after receiving confirmation and handed over the ring to Nyssa and he watched her stare at it for a second before slipping it on. Oliver gave a small bow to her.

"Goodbye, Ra's al Ghul." Oliver said which got Nyssa to send him a smirk from the name

"Goodbye, Oliver Queen. I hope you find peace in death." Nyssa said before she looked at Sarah's headstone for a moment and put her hand on it before walking away leaving Oliver alone once again at Laurel's headstone. He stood there for a minute just staring before he placed his hand on her headstone

"I am truly sorry Laurel. I failed you, this city, my family, your family, and myself. I hope I can see you again when this life finally catches up with me. But I won't hold my breath. You and I wouldn't be placed in this same place in death. So, this could be the last time I can talk to you. Goodbye Dinah Laurel Lance, the prettiest girl in the world. I will forever miss you." Oliver said. Oliver kept his hand on the headstone for a few moment before removing it as he left and made his way back to his car.

Oliver had one last stop that he needed to make before he could drive off and find a quiet place in the wilderness to live out the little time he had before he finally died. He needed to visit Barry in Central City and check on how things were with Thawne and to say goodbye as well. He looked at his watch and saw it was already 3 am and would take 8 hours to get there. Entering his car Oliver started it up before he began driving to Central City.

Central City

Jitters

It had taken him a long time to get into the city. The traffic was crap and he needed to get a coffee. Oliver had realized that he had not slept for over 24 hours and needed a little boost and remembered this place from when he visited with Barry. Getting his coffee, he began walking toward the door when a little girl that looked to be around the age of 9 bumped into him and dropped her toy. Oliver picked up the toy and handed it to her.

"Watch yourself, sweetie." Oliver softly said as he examined the small girl. She had brown eyes and blond hair that looked up at him with such innocence.

"Thanks, Mister." She said before frantically looking around the coffee shop. Oliver had to guess that she was looking for her parents seeing how she was by herself.

"Are you looking for your parents?" Oliver asked and received surprise from the little girl before she nodded her head.

"Yes, my mommy." She answered. Before Oliver could ask what her mother looked like he heard a familiar voice coming through the crowded shop.

"Mia what did I tell you about running off while I am throwing away tr…" The women began stating only for the words to die on her tongue as she looked from her daughter to Oliver in what he could easily recognize as fear. Oliver took a second to recognize the woman. Samantha Clayton. One of the many affairs he had when he was a 'rich little bastard' as many had described him. The little girl in front of him though turned around seemingly recognizing the voice as well.

"Mommy, I was trying to find you and this nice man was going to help me." The little girl happily said. Samantha turned her gaze from Oliver to her daughter before it settled on her daughter as she lightly smiled.

"That's a great sweetie. We should be going." Samantha said before she grabbed Mia's hand and walk toward the exit. Mia though stopped and turned back to Oliver and waved

"Thanks, Mister." Mia said to Oliver which caused Samantha to begin walking faster out of the shop with the now named Mia.

Oliver could only stare in horror and confusion at what he just saw. The little girl, if he had to guess, was around the age that his child would be if his and Samantha's child was born and not miscarried. He was confused. Why had she lied about the child? He knew he was a bastard, but he was planning on taking responsibility at the time. Regaining his composure fast he made his way out of the shop and saw the two round the corner at the end of the building and was about to go after them when he heard a sudden boom. He glanced into the sky he saw something rise into the sky.

What was that? A wormhole? A portal? What the hell happens in this city? As he was staring people began running in fear of it. Regaining his composure, he looked to the corner that Samantha and Mia rounded and started sprinting toward there to make sure they were okay. As he rounded it he saw the hordes of people running. Continuing running he found Samantha in fear yelling and looking around before she spots him where she ran to him in tears.

"Oliver I need your help. My daughter. She was with me for a second. Then she was not, I... I…" She tried to say but she couldn't finish her sentence. Putting a hand on her shoulder he tried to calm her down quickly.

"I'll help you, Samantha. I promise I will find her." Oliver said and saw her begin to calm down slowly.

"Samantha, Mia is around the age of the child that you miscarried." Oliver stated and saw guilt cross her face which confirmed it. "Mia is our child isn't she." Getting no response, he sighed. "After this, we need to talk ok?" After a second of no response she nodded. Oliver looked around for a second before he pointed to the building to their right

"Go hide in there I will go find Mia." Oliver said quickly and a second after she ran toward the building. Oliver watched as she made her way to the building before sprinting to try and find some higher ground to look for the girl while screaming her name. Finding a car to stand on he began looking for her through the crowd.

He looked quickly for a half a minute of before he saw a blonde speck in the corner of his right eye. He turned and saw Mia crouched in the corner by an alley crying. Jumping off the car he was on he made his way toward the girl. As he approached Oliver heard her crying and whimpering for her mother. When Oliver reached her he crouched down to her and lightly tapped her shoulder which got a jump from her as she looked at him in fear for a second before recognizing him. She then whipped her tears with her hand.

"Mister nice man?" She asked with a little whimper still in her voice. This elicited a small smile from Oliver.

"Hey, Mia. I am a friend of your mom's and I know where she is. Would you like me to bring you to her?" Oliver asked gently. The small girl's mood was like a light switch, from glum to instantly happy as she nodded her head rapidly with a bright smile.

Oliver picked up his daughter into his arms and began running back toward the building Samantha was in. As Oliver made his way toward the building he chanced a glance up toward the wormhole in the sky and saw it had rapidly grown and he began to wonder where the hell was Barry. Abruptly the hole in the sky began to feed and draw objects toward it with great force.

As Oliver was running he could feel the strain it was having on him and he began going faster toward the building and drew his daughter closer to him as he felt her slightly rise momentarily. When he drew closer to the building he heard a sound from above him and looked to see a chunk of a building falling toward him.

Running on pure instinct and knowing he could not make it he threw his daughter away from him as it fell on top of the lower half of his body. He grunted and yelled from the excruciating pain. While he was processing his pain, he barely saw his daughter in tears run toward him and start and try to push the debris from him with no success at all.

While Mia tried to move the debrief Oliver also began to try and push the debris with no success. With no success Oliver looked up again and saw that the wormhole was bigger, and he felt the strength of the wormhole was increasing. Frantically he looked around to see if anyone was running by. Thankfully, he saw a tall man running by.

"Hello! Please help!" Oliver yelled frantically. The man came to a stop, seemingly hearing the plea and looked at them for a second and then back to where he was running to. Oliver saw the man's shoulders fall as he turned and began to run toward them. Relief washed through Oliver's system when he saw the man coming to help and he turned his attention back to Mia.

"Sweetie, everything is going to be ok." Oliver said to Mia as the man ran toward him. She looked at him with tears in her eyes and nodded.

"Jesus Christ." The man silently mumbled when he arrived. Oliver turned his attention to the man taking in his appearance quickly. A tall man and if Oliver had to guest 6 foot 3 inches. Slightly chubby with short scruffy hair and brown eyes.

"I need your help." Oliver said after examining the man in a strained voice, nearly pleading.

"I don't think I can move that debris off of you." The man responded finally taking his eyes off the debris that covered Oliver. Oliver though shook his head.

"No, I need you to get this little girl to that building over there…" Oliver said and pointing to the building, "...her mother is there. Please can you do that?" The man looked to the little girl then the building and then back to Oliver. Oliver could see the man contemplating the question for a few moments before coming to a decision and nodding his head. As he went to pick up Mia, she tried to cling back onto Oliver only for Oliver to pry her from him quickly. The tall man that was now carrying Mia sent one last concerned glance to Oliver.

"Thank you." Oliver said before The man nodded and began running toward the building Oliver had pointed him to.

"Mister Nice Man." Mia yelled out repeatedly to Oliver. He heard it for a few seconds before it was drowned out by the sound of screams of other people and the sound from the wormhole. Taking a couple of moments to catch his breath Oliver began to try and push the debris off him again to achieve yet again nothing.

Oliver stopped his pushing momentarily when he felt something warm dripping down his side. It took him a second to realize that it was his blood dripping down his side, and he would have to guess it was a puncture that he had gotten from the debris. After a second of rest he continued to try and move the debris when he heard a voice come from his right.

"Geez kid, you're a mess." The deep voice said.

When Oliver heard the voice he quickly looked to his right only to pale when he saw who it was. The man darkly chuckled seemingly finding Oliver's expression of fear humorous.

"What's wrong kid, seeing another ghost?" The man asked in a sarcastic tone. Oliver could only stare in horror at Slade Wilson looking the same as the last saw him. Oliver's horror quickly changed becoming annoyance before he went back to what he was doing wanting to ignore the man.

"Leave me alone, you're not real. You're just another hallucination." Oliver bitterly responded. Oliver heard a laugh come from Slade as he walked toward Oliver and sat next to him as he continued to try and move the debris.

"It's not going to work you know that. You can't get out. Just accept you're trapped, and you are going to die here kid." Slade said.

"It has to work." Oliver angrily replied. Slade looked at him funny like he had grown another head.

"Why kid? So, you can spend time with your new-found child? Do you really think you should meet her? That it will be good for her? So that she gets to finally meet her dear old dad so that he can be taken from her?" Slade asked. Oliver finally stopping what he was doing to argue with the hallucination of Slade.

"Yes every child should get to know their parents. Why shouldn't Mia get to know me before I'm gone?" Oliver angrily responded. Slade began to darkly laugh before looking straight into Oliver's eyes.

"You think…you really think that your daughter is better off knowing you. Knowing the man that you became. Just like I was…" Slade said before he seemed to change to the Slade with an arrow in his eye from the AMAZO, "...Yao Fei and Shado.'' Changed briefly again to both and took the appearance of how they looked when they died before going back to Slade as he continued. "Akio, Maseo, Taiana, Galina, Tommy, Moira, Robert, Sara, and Laurel." As Slade listed off the names his appearance would shift to the last time he saw them dead. From Taiana with her neck snapped. To his mother with the Slade's sword sticking out and his father with half of his head blown out from the gunshot. To Sara with arrows in her and finally Tommy and Laurel with poles through their stomachs. Oliver could only stay silent as the hallucination continued.

"You infect every life you touch. You say you came back from the island to save the people of Star City, but you can never save anyone. You told the people close to you that you came back to atone for your father's sins when your crusade was really to atone for your own. Your worst enemy in all those instances was yourself. You could have saved your mother, Tommy, and Laurel if you had told them the truth. Could have saved Sara if you had not taken her on the Queen's Gambit. Could have saved Taiana and Galina if you did not get them involved. Could have saved Takeo and Maseo if you were better at your job but you cannot. Guys like me, Malcolm Merlyn, Ra's al Ghul, Edward Feyers, Konstantin Kovar, Dr. Ivo, General Shrieve, Baron Reiter; when it comes to destroying you kid, we all come in second place. You are the one enemy you can never defeat, the one that infects and destroys everyone around you." Slade said.

Oliver tried to turn away from Slade only for him to be sitting on his other side. Oliver turned again this time to face the debris when he blinked for a second. He was feeling his consciousness starts to fade a second. He knew it was from the blood loss.

"You know what I say is true because I am as real as your conscience. I am in your head and know the truth. Those closest to you are fated to suffer. It is better for her if you just die here." Slade solemnly stated.

Oliver stayed silent. He couldn't argue the point and was listening for what came next, but nothing came. He glance to his left to see the hallucination was gone. Oliver stayed staring at his side for a moment before turning back to look at the wormhole in the air as it began sucking in more and more as he began to contemplate what the hallucination said.

Oliver knew what the hallucination had said was right. Oliver knew that he infected everyone that he met. Everyone that knew him suffered. Oliver felt his consciousness continue to leave him as he finally came to his decision. It was time for him to die. It was for the best.

When he came to his decision he felt the weight being lifted off him and he opened his eyes to see that it was being sucked toward the wormhole. Oliver continued to stare for a second before closing his eyes once again. From his blood loss and his loss of near consciousness he barely registered himself being lifted toward the wormhole. He didn't care though as he was losing consciousness fast as he was being brought toward it. The last thing he felt, and saw was a glimmer and flash of bright light before an explosion went off and everything around him went black.

Building

Samantha was extremely worried for her daughter as she paced back and forth glancing at the door every few seconds hoping to see Oliver running with her back into the building. Samantha decided that after this catastrophe she would allow Oliver to get to know their daughter. After 15 minutes she got even more worried and was about to run out of the building to go and help Oliver search, but she stopped as she watched a man run into the building in carrying her daughter. Samantha felt relief wash over her as she ran toward her daughter.

"Mia." Samantha yelled in happiness. Mia looked quickly when she heard her name and saw her mother. Tears began to form in Samantha's eyes as the man set her daughter down and the girl bolted right into Samantha's open arms. Mia herself was also crying as she clung to her mother wanting to never let go. Samantha looked to the man who brought in her daughter with a smile mouthing "Thank you" to him. He smiled back and nodded at her before walking away deeper into the building. Samantha turned her attention back to Mia, but reality hit her as she realized something.

"Mia, sweety where is Oliver?" Samantha asked concerned where he was. Her daughter looked at her for a second with confusion.

"You mean mister nice man?" Mia asked. Samantha nodded her head and saw Mia's face drop. Mia then looked at her mother with a sad expression on her face.

"He got trapped under something heavy and had the other man bring me here. He's hurt, mommy." Mia said with more tears forming in her eyes. Samantha's face dropped as well from hearing that. She never wanted Oliver to get hurt. He gave her the most precious gift in the world, Mia.

"It's ok Mia we will help him." Samantha said and received a nodded Mia. Mia then remembered something the man had said.

"The nice man said he was your friend's mom, who is he?" Mia voiced her question. Samantha was caught off guard a little worried about telling her, but Oliver had risked his life to save his daughter. So, Samantha decided that she would tell Mia but as she was about to answer Mia there was a loud explosion that came from outside. This caught everyone's attention as they looked out the windows into the sky to see what happened.

To Samantha's relief, the catastrophe that was in the sky seemed to have disappeared thankfully. As Mia also saw the target of everyone's panic being gone she began pulling her mother toward the door.

"Mom we need to go help your friend." Mia said desperately. Samantha regained her composure and began with no resistance going heading to where Oliver was. It took them a couple of minutes of running before Mia stopped and started looking around frantically.

"Mia is this where Oliver was around?" Samantha asked and Mia not stopping nodded to her mother. After receiving confirmation Samantha also began to look, calling out "Oliver" multiple times. She began to lose hope of finding something she as stepped into something that made a small splash and looked down and paled at what she saw. A small pool of blood.

"Mia get over here!" Samantha yelled and heard Mia running toward her.

"Mommy he should be here, where is he?" Mia asked when she arrived seemingly recognizing where they were. Samantha looked for a track of blood where Oliver could have gotten to but found nothing. It did not make any sense to her, with this much blood there should have been a track of where he went it is not like he could have just disappeared.

But that thought brought her to a complete stop before she looked in the sky where the hole that was sucking objects into it no more than five minutes ago once was. Samantha's eyes started to water after she realized where Oliver ended up. Mia was confused as she watching her mom start to tear up.

"Mommy are you okay?" Mia innocently asked. When Samantha heard her daughter speak she finally remembered Mia was standing next to her. Samantha instantly grabbed Mia into a hug. This only confused Mia even more but it also began to slightly scare her.

"Mommy you are scaring me." Mia whispered. Samantha unwrapped herself from Mia and wiped the tears from her eyes looking sadly at Mia.

"I am so sorry sweetie, but I don't think we will find Oliver. He is gone." Samantha sadly said.

"What do you mean gone? We can still find him right? I never got to thank him." Mia asked. Her mother's sadness deepened. She had never wanted Oliver to learn about Mia ever since Moira had tried to pay her to tell him she had a miscarriage and never wanted Mia to have anything to do with the Queens. But she also never had thought Oliver Queen the selfish bastard that she once knew him as would give his life for his daughter that he had only met for a few minutes.

"Honey, the hole in the sky took Oliver. I do not think we will see him again. I am so sorry." Samantha answered and saw that Mia seemed to take a second to process what she heard before tears started to form in her eyes. Samantha took her sleeve and wiped the tears from Mia's eyes before bringing her into another tight embrace.

"I am so sorry you never got to meet him properly, he would have loved you so much." Samantha whispered. Mia still in the embrace look up to her mother.

"Why would he have loved me?" Mia questioned quietly.

"He was your father." Samantha answered not looking down at her daughters face but felt the surprise from her body as Mia began to shake slightly before burying her head deeper into their embrace as she began sobbing loudly.

"I am so sorry Oliver but thank you. Thank you for saving our child." Samantha thought to herself as she looked up into the sky.
