Chapter 3

A Plan

"I… I'm sorry? I don't think I heard that right… Eggman has her?!" Miles said in disbelief.

"Yeah… by the time we got there, she was already gone, and there were signs that a big fight broke out… and then a little later, we found Skye here." Sonic explained.

"He said that she distracted the robots so that he could get away." Tails explained.

"Great… so Skye is safe, but my wife was captured by the most dangerous man on the planet… which, if what Sally said is true, he is probably more dangerous here than in my timeline…" Miles said depressingly.

"Uh… maybe we should be using her name? I don't think she would like us not calling her by name…" Tails said.

"Yeeeeaaaaah… about that…" Silver said as he began filling the two in on what they were talking about before they had arrived.

"So my hunch was right…" Tails said, still a bit upset he won't find out the answer to the one question that had been nagging at his mind since this whole thing began.

"Back to the issue at hand, do you know where Eggman's base is?" Miles asked.

"Yeah… Why?" Sally asked.

"Give me the info, and I will be going to get my wife." Miles stated.

"Wait, BY YOURSELF?!" Sally asked.

"Yup, I can handle it, don't worry." Miles said.

"Listen, I get that you're worried, but just charging in is not a good idea." Sally said. "You have no idea what Eggman is capable of in this world, and he will be expecting all of us probably. So going in alone would be crazy!"

"So, what? Sit around here and try and come up with a plan while my wife is imprisoned by a madman?!" Miles asked, starting to raise his voice.

"Charging in and getting killed would not save her, and you know it!" Sally responded, getting louder as well.

"Uh… Daddy?" Skye said quietly.

Miles just looked down to his son, having realized that he had completely forgotten about Skye's presence. He was shocked to see that Skye looked scared.

"… Sorry Skye, I'm just worried about your mom is all." Miles said as he pat his son's head.

Sally then stepped forward. "Listen, I know that you're worried. We all are. But all I am suggesting is you spend the night, and let us come up with a plan and gather some forces to go in for a rescue mission."

"… Alright." Miles relented. "But I honestly don't think we need to come up with that much of a plan."

"Really? And why's that?" Sally asked.

"Simple, my wife is smart, and strong. If we just provide some kind of distraction, she will be able to bust herself out, easy." Miles explained. "Especially since the Eggman in this world has no idea what she is capable of. He probably didn't restrain her tail because of that."

"Her tail?" Bunnie asked.

Both the Tails' and Sonic all looked to Skye so he could demonstrate, and he did… by accidentally nailing Antoine in the face.

"… Oh." Sally said.

"Yeah. There is one thing we need to figure out though…" Miles said.

"And that is?" Sonic asked.

"What to do with Skye." Miles said. "Cause I don't know about you guys, but I am not really willing to take my four year old son into what is about to be a war zone."

"Yeah, I can understand that." Sonic said. "How about we just leave him with the Prowers? I am sure they would love to have him."

"We can't… my mom has a board meeting, and my dad has meeting with King Elias afterwards." Tails explained.

"My brother? What for?" Sally asked, earning Miles' attention.

"Don't know, though I think it might just be something casual." Tails explained.

"Ok then… So who's left that can watch over the kid?" Sonic asked.

"Well… how about you Tails?" Miles asked the younger Tails.

"Wait… why me?!" Tails asked.

"Simple, this may be a different timeline, but you ARE still just a younger me, so Skye would probably be the most comfortable with you rather than some stranger." Miles explained. "Also, we can't have you bumping into my wife during the rescue mission, so it would be for the best if you stayed back anyways."

"Right… I guess that makes sense." Tails said.

"Right, so Tails will stay behind, while we all go and rescue Miles' wife. First thing tomorrow morning." Sally said.

"Agreed." Miles said.

"Everyone, get some rest for the rest of the day, I am going to make some calls and see who we can get to come and help us tomorrow." Sally said.

"Ok, see you tomorrow Sal." Sonic said as he began to lead the three foxes out of the room.

"So… where are we going exactly?" Miles asked.

"To get some lunch, duh!" Sonic said. "You two like chili dogs, right?"

"… Are you really asking me that?" Miles asked.

"… Ok, yeah, dumb question." Sonic said with a laugh. "Well, I happen to know that the best chili dog place on the planet is right around here."

"Sounds great." Miles said.

"But first…" Sonic said as he began to stretch. "I think you know what's about to happen."

"… You want to race me there, don't you…" Miles asked.

"YUP!" Sonic said as he began to jump in place.

"Come on Skye, I'll fly you up above where they're going, so we can watch." Tails said as he began to lift Skye up into the air.

"Good luck daddy!" Skye said as they flew off.

Eventually, the two stopped above what Miles assumed was the finish line.

"So, think you can win?" Sonic asked.

"Not really… unless you are just a bit slower than the Sonic in my timeline." Miles said.

"Oh really now?" Sonic asked. "Well, guess we are about to find out, huh?"

"Yeah, probably."

"Anyways… ready?" Sonic said.

"…Set..." Miles continued.

"GO!" They both shouted as they took off.

Sonic at first was going to take it a bit easy on his friend, but then he saw that Miles was actually pulling ahead by a good bit when he did that, so he quickly got into gear and began to catch up. He was barely able to take the lead before the two reached their destination.

"Ok, WOW!" Sonic said once the two stopped. "You really did get faster! I actually had to push myself towards the end there!"

"Well, if you weren't showboating at the beginning, you would of had an easier time…" Miles said, slightly out of breath. 'He was holding back that entire time...'

"True… so… Am I faster than your Sonic?" Sonic asked.

"Hmmm… I say you are about the same to be honest, at least, for your age." Miles said.

"Ok, good. At least I am consistently cool!" Sonic said.

Soon after, the two younger foxes landed, and the four went into the restaurant.

"Uncle Chuck's huh?" Miles asked.

"Just you wait, you're gonna love this place." Sonic said as he opened the door. "Yo Unc! You will not believe what happened today!"

As they walked in, Miles got a good look at the owner of the place.

He didn't really expect what he saw.

Another blue hedgehog, that looked a lot like an older Sonic.

"Miles, meet my Uncle Chuck! Uncle Chuck, meet a future Tails and his son Skye!" Sonic said.

The two adults just stared at each other, before reacting in the only way they thought possible.

"… Huh?"

Eggman's base

When Tangle opened her eyes, she immediately felt the cold floor. Remembering what had happened, she quickly shot up.

"Oh, well, it looks like you're awake." Said a familiar voice.

Tangle turned to the source of the voice.

"Oh, hey Eggman." Tangle said casually.

"I see you already know who I am!" Eggman said with a laugh. "Good, that makes this so much easier."

"What do you want from me?" Tangle asked.

"Well, a name first would be nice." Eggman said.

"Wait… don't you know that already?" Tangle asked.

"Nope, can't say I do." Eggman said.

"Ok… my name's Tangle." Tangle said.

'Ok… so one of two things went wrong. One, we went to the wrong time, and this is before Sonic and the others met me… or, we went to the wrong timeline.' Tangle thought.

"Ok, Tangle. I just want to know, there were a total of three energy signatures that my scanners picked up when you appeared. One was you, another was very close to you, and the third was quite a ways away." Eggman explained. "Tell me, who, or what else are those two other energy signatures?"

"Just my family, that's all." Tangle explained as vaguely as possible.

"Ok then, names please?" Eggman asked.

"Sorry, not telling you that. Though I am willing to bet you will find out one of those names soon enough." Tangle said.

"Oh? And why's that? Don't tell me you think one of them is going to rescue you!" Eggman laughed out.

"Oh yeah, he is definitely coming for me." Tangle said.

"Well then, I guess I should get ready to welcome them to my humble abode… and get a second cage ready." Eggman said.

"You shouldn't bother." Tangle said.

"Oh? And why's that?" Eggman asked.

"Simple, where I come from, my husband is the worlds greatest hero, a symbol to all of those who need someone to look up to and admire, and for a good reason." Tangle said with a very serious tone. "It doesn't matter how big of an army you prepare. If he is coming, and I know he will be…

You don't stand a chance."

Eggman didn't appear bothered by this, but he was. He simply walked away, and pulled out a communicator.

"Gather as many of our forces as you can."

Tangle is a badass, isn't she?

Also yeah, I know that this IS Archie Sonic and Archie Sonic is a lot faster and more powerful than game Sonic, that is why I included that thought from Tails about Sonic holding back in their race.
