That evening at Rose's mum's flat they'd just finished dinner and are sitting in the living room. The Doctor and Rose are sitting next to each other on the couch and Jackie is sitting in the chair nearby. Jackie is telling them about the latest gossip on the estate. The Doctor is pretending to be interested. Jackie says, "Everyone knows that Larry is sleeping around on her too but she won't believe it. Well she's not going to have a choice now that Larry's got his latest slag knocked up. I'll just never understand why a woman will go off with some man and get herself pregnant."

Rose looks at the Doctor. He doesn't look at her. She desperately changes the subject, "Oh mum, did I tell you about the planet the Doctor took me to last week? The sky was purple during the day and the air smelled like strawberries." As soon as she said the word strawberries her face went pale and she ran for the loo and vomited as soon as she got in there.

Jackie got up and called after her, "Rose are you ok?" The Doctor put his head in his hands and remained seated. "Rose?"

Rose says, "M fine, mum."

Jackie says, "Are you sure because you were fine until you said strawberries?" Rose gets slightly pale again. "And himself in there is being strangely quiet.

Rose says, "Yeah, I'm fine."

Jackie said, "I don't know Rose. That Doctor being silent is suspicious on its own, but you vomiting at the mention of a word. Either he's hypnotized you into thinking strawberries are bad," Rose gets pale again, "or you're pregnant in which case you better not be taking my alien grandchild off for months and months at a time without visiting."

Rose tries to avoid looking at her mum. The Doctor stands up and tries to make it to the door with every intention of running. Rose says, "Don't you dare Doctor." She looks back at her mum. "Yeah, I am."

Jackie's eyes widen, "But how could this have happened?"

The Doctor, "Well Jackie, Time Lords can do it the same way as humans."

Jackie turns and looks furiously at the Doctor, "That's not what I meant and I will get to you in a mo!" She turns back to Rose, "Has this been going on the entire time you've been travellin' with him?"

Rose says, "No, not the whole time. You remember when we came back with Capt. Jack and told you about going to 1941? Around then."

Jackie says, "But he was still wearing leather then." She looks back and the doctor, "Is this what you had in mind when you convinced her into that box of yours? To shag her through time and space?"

The Doctor looks annoyed at first then serious, "Jackie, it's not like that, never my intention. When I asked Rose to come with me all I wanted was a companion. She saved my life that night and she could think on her feet, I knew she'd be brilliant. Then over time the impossible happened, I fell for her. I'm not exactly sure when it happened but I knew it locked in that room at Downing Street. I tried to ignore it but then in 1941 we danced and I looked into her eyes, I knew I couldn't avoid it."

Jackie says, "How do I know you're not just going to leave her here now?"

The Doctor says, "Damn it, Jackie. Don't you see? I love her more than any human words can express." Jackie and Rose both look shocked.

Rose says, "What?"

The Doctor looks at Rose and smiles, "I love you, my Rose."

Rose smiles, "I love you too, my Doctor." Rose walks past her mother and over to the Doctor. He kisses her gently on the lips then pulls her into a hug.

Jackie says, "I think you're mad, the pair of you. Guess you're perfect for each other."

Jackie talked them into staying a while longer and watching a movie with her. Rose fell asleep during the movie. She's stretched out on the couch, her head in the Doctor's lap. The Doctor is gently running his hand through her hair while still watching the movie. The credits start and Jackie turns off the television. She looks at the couple on her couch. "Doctor is it safe for her to carry the child. With you being an alien and all?"

The Doctor says, "Honestly Jackie I'm not sure. For the moment everything is going as it should. She's healthy and the baby's healthy, his heartbeats are strong."

Jackie says, "He? Isn't it too soon to tell?"

The Doctor says, "It's still a little early yeah but call it a feeling."

Jackie says, "Well of course, all men want to have a boy. Pete did too you know, but the day Rose was born you couldn't find a happier man in that hospital. He told everyone in the ward who would listen about her.
