Miranda Lawson was a woman who had a reputation of getting the job done. No matter the cost. She was the Illusive Man's top lieutenant, a fact that she took a lot of pride in. Though she would never show it, it made her feel giddy inside when she got the hardest assignments from the Illusive Man himself.

As for what other people thought about her, some would say she's a professional who has no time for dilly dallying. More often than not, most people just called her a bitch. A fact that she recognized, but usually paid no mind to. Opinions of other didn't matter to her, only the mission did.

The Illusive Man gave her possibly the toughest job any sapient being has ever been given.

Bring the dead back to life.

Wars have been fought over immortality, many expeditions to uncharted parts of the world have been stated in search of the "Elixir of Youth/Life/Immortality". In the ancient times, Emperors and Kings have hired the brightest minds in science in order to find a way to cure death itself.

None of them have succeeded. Miranda Lawson has been given a mission to do the impossible.

Her assignment was simple: Bring Commander Shepard back to life, the exact same way that he was. Miranda... originally had concerns about that.

"Sir, Commander Shepard is a veteran of Akuze, how are we supposed to make him trust us?" asked Miranda.

Taking a puff of his cigarette "Shepard's a soldier and a highly intelligent man, Ms. Lawson. He will put his personal feelings aside for the greater good."

Unsatisfied with the answer, Miranda kept pressing "The Alliance has always considered Shepard a Renegade. How do we know that we will be able to control him? I still suggest we put a control chip into him."

Pausing for a minute to blow smoke out of his mouth. "Once again, controlling Shepard is not our priority. Humanity needs a leader, and Shepard is the best we have. You said it yourself, he's a Renegade. Attempting to control him, in addition to the events on Akuze will either leave him to be downright hostile to us, or will drive him to suicide. No chip, he gets brought exactly as he was. That's an order." he said with plenty of steel behind his voice.

Disappointed with her superior's judgement, she chose to not press the issue any longer.

"Understood sir."

"I know you'll get the job done Miranda, you always do."

The resources that would be required to bring Commander Shepard back to life would be staggering. Yet the Illusive Man never wavered, if Miranda needed more funding, she got it.

The technologies that would be required to bring back the Commander were revolutionary. Biosynthetic Fusion, sped up cellular regeneration, extensive cybernetics. These were top-of-the line technologies that Tech Corporations would shell out trillions of credits for. Yet here they were created by Cerberus, all in order to bring one man back.

While the tech that needed to be created to bring Shepard back was created. Miranda still didn't know much about Commander Shepard outside of what was known publicly.

Over the next two years, she tasked herself with finding out everything there is to know about the Spectre.

The Illusive Man forwarded her files about Shepard's childhood, his criminal record, his Alliance record, training as a Soldier, how he earned the title of being the deadliest Soldier in the Alliance. Being able to handle any weapon in the Galaxy with elite precision.

She found out about his service record and the missions he was sent on, as an N7 operative and a Spectre. If there was any piece of information available about Shepard, Miranda Lawson most likely knew about it.

Her goal was clear: bring back the Commander exactly the way he was. The same personality, same morals, same skills, and most importantly: same potential.

The budget of the Lazarus Project was gargantuan, but every time she had concerns about funding, her superior always told her that she will have whatever resources she needs. The fact that Cerberus has put so much into this project drove Miranda even harder. Spending billions of credits and two years on this assignment, and failing? That was not something Miranda was going to do.

What was happening right now is nothing short of remarkable. Commander Shepard is waking up, and showing full signs of neurological activity.

But the sheer amount of pain that Shepard was feeling dulled his senses. He could hear muffled voices, and what his poorly working eyes could make out was that he was in some kind of lab.

The pain though, the sensations in his body felt like he was getting ripped apart by a thresher maw. Forcing his eyes to stay open, he heard a muffled feminine voice.

"There. On the monitor. Something's wrong."

What the hell? Where the hell am I?!

Another voice, this time masculine, replied to the feminine one. "He's reacting to outside stimuli. Showing an awareness of his surroundings."

Fighting the pain, Shepard tried to force himself to move, to wake up and find out what the hell was going on. But his body did not react to his commands.

He heard the male voice speak again. "Oh my God, Miranda, I think he's waking up!"

Shepard, looking to his left saw a black-haired woman in what looked to be a white catsuit. On his right, he saw an older looking man with a beard.

In a forceful tone, he heard the woman give an order to the man. "Damn it Wilson, he's not ready yet! Give him the sedative!"

Utilizing his training to resist interrogations, and with an added bonus of sheer force of will, Shepard resisted the sedatives.

Get me the fuck OUT of here! He tried to scream, but words would not come out of his mouth.

The woman (Miranda) grabbed his arm, and gently pulled it to the side. "Shepard- don't try to move."

Shut up!

Still resisting the sedatives that these people tried to give him. Shepard refused to go back down.

Wilson, desperately trying to somehow get Shepard to go back to sleep started panicking. "Heart rate climbing, his brain activity is off the charts. Stats pushing into red zone, it's not working!"

Making her way to the console, Miranda pushing Wilson out of the way "Another dose, now!"

The sedatives, finally overwhelming Shepard, he felt himself going off to sleep.

Damn it! NO! He thought to himself, but eventually the dose proved to be too much even for him. Everything slowly going to black.

Checking Shepard's stats, "Heart rate falling, stats going back to normal. That was too close, we almost lost him."

Turning to Wilson. "I told you the estimates were off, run the numbers again!"

Though she would never tell anyone, Miranda admittedly felt giddy. The Lazarus Project was nearly over, in a few months, she would have pulled off what every sapient being would dream of pulling off. Bringing a dead person back to life.

She was impressed by just how much the Commander was able to resist the sedatives, even in such a weakened state.

Walking down the hall towards her office, she noticed Jacob.

"Heard Shepard woke up. He okay?"

Wondering how he found out about that, she chose to grant him an answer. "He's fine."

"So does that mean this whole thing will be over soon?"

"Sure."

Knowing that she didn't talk much when focused on the job, he kept talking.

"Hallelujah. Maybe we'll finally get off this damn station."

"What, guarding scientists isn't fun for you Jacob?" Miranda answers sarcastically.

"Oh sure, most fun job of my life. Just miss real action, that's all."

"You and Shepard will probably have something in common then."

Chuckling at her statement, Jacob asked. "I need to know this one thing."

Surprised by the question, Miranda paused her walk. "What is it?"

"Did you keep Shepard's hair dyed?"

Surprisingly, she gave the faintest of smiles at that question. But granted him an answer. "Illusive Man told me to bring him back the exact same way. Even with all the... eccentrics."

"Can't wait to meet him." said Jacob.

Few Weeks Later

Commander Shepard has officially "woken up". He is showing signs of full neurological activity. Brain waves indicating that he isdreaming.

Location: Unknown Cerberus Facility

Miranda was going over her files on the Lazarus Project, making sure everything was up to date, preparing her reports to send to the Illusive Man.

Needless to say, all of that was interrupted by the alarm blaring. A station wide alert!

Darting to the security cameras panel, she began to look around for what seemed to cause the alarm. Then noticing that the mechs on the station are taking out the workers.

Damn it! Someone hacked the mechs.

Tapping into the camera inside the room where Shepard was sleeping. She was relieved by the fact that Shepard remained unharmed. She began to remotely disable the systems that kept the sedatives inside of his system. Trying to wake him up.

Damn it, I hope he's ready.

Ughhh shit

Shepard was slowly regaining consciousness, his head felt like it was about to cause a nuclear explosion. The sensation on his face could be described as needles stabbing his face over and over again. Feeling numerous cuts on his face, they felt like someone took the sharpest knife and slowly and deliberately cut up his face.

Hearing gunfire, his instincts instantly kicked in. He heard a familiar voice over the intercom.

"Shepard do you hear me? Get out of that bed now this facility is under attack."

Who the hell are you? Thought Shepard.

The same voice spoke to him again. "Shepard your scars aren't healed, but I need youto get moving. This facility is under attack!"

Forcing himself to get out of the bed that he was lying in, Shepard began to look around his surroundings to try and figure out what he was dealing with.

#1 rule for staying alive, always know your surroundings.

"There is a pistol on the other side of the room. Hurry!"

Seeing the locker across the room, he attempted to run towards it, his legs giving out on him.

Great, I got noodle legs. Thought Shepard.

Utilizing his Soldier training, Shepard used Adrenaline Rush. The chemical instantly flooded his veins, and his entire view of things became much clearer. He forced himself to get up, and ran towards the locker. Finding red N7 armor and a pistol that he did not recognize.

How the hell did they know that I prefer red? And what the fuck is this pistol?

Attempting to figure out what situation did he find himself in, Shepard called out to the intercom. "What the hell is all this? And what is this damn pistol?"

"Shepard, my name is Miranda Lawson, I'm trying to help you. Tech changed while you were out, we now go by thermal clips instead of the heat sinks. It was designed to stop weapons overheat and Geth Sabotage. They are limited capacity, much like old pistol clips back in the 21st Century."

I thought tech was supposed to move forward as time went on.

Over the next 45 or so minutes, Shepard was on complete autopilot. Listening to his mysterious benefactor for directions and on where to. Utilizing his battle hardened instincts to clear entire rooms of Mechs, showing exactly why he was considered the most dangerous man in the Alliance, and possibly, the Galaxy.

As he was clearing out the mechs in front of him, Shepard saw a dark skinned male behind cover shooting at the mechs in front of him.

Running up to the cover, both men easily dispatched the four mechs. As Shepard was firing, he heard the man say "Shepard... what the hell?" Noticing the N7 emblem on his chest, the man asked "What the hell are you doing here? I thought you were still a work in progress?"

Irritated at the question, Shepard yelled out. "Look pal, I don't know where I am, or how I got here. Plus my head feels like an overripe melon, how bout you fill me in a little?"

Taken back by Shepard's tone, "Damn. Sorry, I forgot that this is all new to you. I'm Jacob Taylor". as a thermal clip nearly hit him in the head. Jacob yelled out "DAMN!". Both men stood up and dispatched the firing mechs.

Ducking back behind cover, he continued "Things must be worse than I thought if Miranda's got you running around. I'll fill you in, but we better get you to a shuttle first."

Definitely not

"Ever since I woke up someone has been telling me what to do, I'm not leaving until I get some damn answers!"

Damn, people mentioned he was a hardass.

"Fair enough. I'll give you the quick version. You and your ship were attacked and destroyed. You were killed. Dead as dead can be when they brought you here. Our scientists spent the last two years putting you back together. You've been comatose or worse that whole time."

Noticing his surroundings, Shepard looked around.

Definitely not an Alliance facility.

"This isn't an Alliance facility".

Confirming his suspicious, "It isn't. I can't say much more than that, but the Alliance declared you KIA. The whole Galaxy thinks you're dead."

Dead?

Trying to hide the concern in his voice, Shepard asked "Did the crew make it off the Normandy"?

"Tell you what, we make it off of here and I'll play 20 questions with you."

Understanding what he meant, Shepard began to focus on the mechs ahead of him. 5 in total.

Way too easy. Thought Shepard as he smirked under his helmet.

As Jacob flared up his biotic power, he used "Pull" and the LOKI Mechs went up helplessly in the air, all being dispatched easily by Shepard and Jacob.

Holstering his pistol, Jacob turned to Shepard. "Okay, I promised that I would answer your questions. What do you wanna know?"

Shepard carefully concealed his pistol with his arm, to make sure that Jacob doesn't see it.

"You mentioned that they spent two years rebuilding me, how bad was I?"

"I'm no doctor, but it was bad. When I first saw you, you were nothing but meat and tubes. Anywhere else they would've put you in a coffin," Jacob answered.

Meat and tubes? Thought Shepard.

Jacob continued, "But Project Lazarus was different. Cutting edge technology."

He won't be making a PhD Thesis anytime soon.

"What can you tell me about the project? Were there other subjects?"

"Project Lazarus was created to only bring back You. There were no other tests subjects. Two years, best scientists and technology that money can buy."

"How much credits did it cost to bring me back?"

"Somewhere around four billion."

And I thought Conrad Verner was obsessed.

Shepard was well aware of the Council's and the Alliance's distrust of him. It definitely wasn't them who spent that much money to bring him back.

"What did they do to me? Am I a clone? Did they install cybernetics?"

"I don't know the details; you'd have to ask the scientist. But I'm pretty sure you're not a clone. They wanted to bring you back exactly as you were. You're still you; you just might have a few extra bits and pieces now.

"Extra bits" you say?

With noticeable concern in his voice. "The last thing I remember is the Normandy being blown to hell. Did the crew get out alive?"

"Just about everyone survived. A few servicemen from the lower decks didn't get out, Navigator Pressly was killed by an explosion, but everyone else, including the non-Alliance crew... the asari Liara, the quarian, they all made it out alive."

Thank God. They probably think that I'm dead, did they have a funeral?

Shepard, pulling out his pistol from behind his back and beginning to reload it.

"Alright, enough questions. What do you know about this attack?"

Shrugging. Jacob answered. "Damned if I know. I was getting for some shut-eye then... BAM! Bunch of explosions. Next thing I know, every damn mech in the place starts shooting. At us. I'm guessing it had to be an inside job. You'd need top security access to hack all the mechs."

"Well, since you said you're not a scientist. What the hell do you do here anyway?" asked Shepard.

"Depends on who you ask. Technically, I'm Miranda's top lieutenant, but I'm just a soldier. I served five years in the Alliance before this. Now I'm in charge of this station's security. Usually a lot more dull than this. Normally, I don't fire my gun unless it's target practice."

He knows Miranda?

"I remember a Miranda yelling at me over the intercom and telling me what to do and where to to go. We lost contact before I saw you."

"Miranda Lawson is this station's ranking officer. It was her job to bring you back. No matter the cost. You said you lost contact?" asked Jacob. With clear concern in his voice.

They're a couple? Thought Shepard.

"Yeah. All I heard was gunfire and explosions before I lost Her."

"Miranda can take care of herself, still, I hope she's alright."

"Like I said. Enough questions, what's the quickest way to the shuttles?"

"Depends on where the mechs are thickest, it's probably best if we-"

"CHECK! CHECK!Is anyone still on this frequency? Is anyone alive out there? Hello?"

Jacob heard the voice on his radio, connecting his omnitool to his ear implant. Standard procedure for most Alliance soldiers.

"Wilson? This is Jacob! I'm here with Commander Shepard. We just took out a wave of Mechs over in the D-Wing."

"Shepard's alive? How the hell?... Never mind! We need to get him out of there! Get to the service tunnels and head to the network control room!"

Nodding. Jacob looked at Shepard and "Roger that Wilson. Stay on this frequency!"

While putting his N7 helmet back on. "I remember a Wilson checking on me when I woke up."

Answering. "That's him. He's the chief medical tech. Answers directly to Miranda. Come on, service tunnels are this way."

The next sequence of events had Jacob and Shepard be on high alert. Both soldiers kept their pistols close to them, and efficiently executing any mechs that they came across.

Jacob heard stories about Commander Shepard's combat ability. He always thought that the stories of Shepard being considered the deadliest soldier in the Alliance were exaggerations. But seeing the man in action, he began to wonder if those stories were anything but exaggerations.

He noted the extreme patience that Shepard displayed. Staying behind cover for minutes at a time, waiting for the right opening, the right moment to brutally execute his attacks. Whether it be hitting bullseyes on the Mechs's heads, or catching the Mechs by surprise and using his newly enhanced cybernetic strength to simply "knock them out."

Quickly destroying the incoming waves of Mechs. Jacob radio'd to Wilson.

"Damn it Wilson! This room is crawling with mechs."

"This whole station is crawling with mechs! I'm doing the best I can!"

Shepard & Jacob quickly took care of yet another wave of Mechs.

And I thought the Rachni were annoying

"Wilson? Find us another route! Preferably the one that doesn't lead into an enemy squad!"

"Just keep moving toward the control room. Don't get pinned down. I'll see what I can do."

Walking up the stairs. Jacob and Shepard walked toward the room that said "Server Room B".

"You open the door, I'll watch your back." Said Shepard to Jacob.

As Jacob opened the door, Shepard quickly caught up, and started observing the room for any present signs of danger.

"Shepard! Down here!" screamed out Wilson.

"Bastards shot me in the leg!"

"Wait... you were first there when I first regained consciousness!"

Grunting in pain, heavy breaths. "Yeah... that was me."

"How about we talk about this after we fix my leg?"

This doesn't feel right... Thought Shepard. Seeing that the man is in no shape to walk. Much less fight. "He's a liability. Leave him here Taylor."

"What the hell? Liability? I just helped save your ass!" yelled out Wilson.

"Irrelevant. We have no way to treat your injuries, and you can't fight. You're the definition of a liability. I would think a scientist would be more understanding of logic." said Shepard.

What an asshole... Thought Jacob. But he immediately retorted with. "There should be some medi-gel in the first-aid station on the wall. Hopefully there's enough to get him up and moving again."

Shepard walked up to the station and saw two medi-gel packs. He grabbed both of them and tossed one to Jacob.

Wasting no time. Jacob immediately started applying medi-gel to Wilson's injured leg.

"No longer a liability am I?" grunted out Wilson.

"Never thought you would save my life, guess that makes us even now."

"I thought maybe I could shut down the security mechs. But whoever did this fried the whole system. Completely irreversible."

You just happenedto be here while everything was going down?

Jacob, still looking Wilson over. "We didn't ask what you were doing. Why do you even have security mech clearance? You were in the Bio Wing."

Still heavy breathing. Wilson grunted out. "Weren't you listening?! I came here to try and fix this. Besides. I was shot! How do you explain that?"

Irritated at both of them. "I don't care who set up who - in case you haven't noticed. The mechs are shooting at all of us. We'll sort it out later." said Shepard.

Looking back to Shepard. "We need to find Miranda first. We can't just leave her behind."

"Forget about Miranda. She was over in D-Wing. The mechs were all over that sector. No way she survived."

"I agree. I'm sorry Taylor, but whoever this Miranda is, she's dead".

"A bunch of Mechs won't drop Miranda. She survived." said Jacob. With more anger in his voice.

"Then where is she? Why haven't we heard from her?" Wilson argued. "There are only two possible explanations. She's either dead or she's a traitor!"

Why is he so fixed on Miranda being dead?

"Haven't known her enough to trust her."

"This project was Miranda's baby. She'd never sabotage it." Argued Jacob.

"People can do crazy things Taylor."

"Not Miranda. She's far too logical to do something like this."

Finally, Wilson relented. "Okay, maybe's she's not a traitor, but that doesn't change the fact that we're here and she's not. We need to save ourselves."

"The shuttle bay is only a few-"

Turning around to face the corridor, suddenly the door opened and a bunch of Mechs came out out of it.

Shepard didn't hesitate to get back behind cover, looking around at his surroundings to try and find an advantage, he noticed that the barrels next to the mechs had a "Flammable" sign on them. He fired off two shots from his pistol before the barrels went up in flames, and took the mechs with them.

Shepard was ready to move on and walk towards his next destination, before Jacob's voice stopped him.

"Shepard. This is getting tense. If I tell you who we work for, will you trust me?"

Wilson scoffed and stopped in his tracks.

"This really isn't the time Jacob."

Jacob looked back at Wilson, "We won't make it if he's expecting a shot in the back."

What if I told you that I already am? Thought Shepard. Smirking under his N7 helmet, eyes looking at Wilson, but otherwise his expression betrayed nothing.

"If you wanna piss off the boss fine, but it's your ass."

Jacob, with a soft-ish tone in his voice. "The Lazarus Project, the program that rebuilt you... it's funded and controlled by Cerberus."

Cerberus

That name gave Shepard a flood of memories, of Akuze, of the people he saw die, of... Kira. Corporal Toombs, the Rachni experiments, Admiral Kahoku. He remembered how Toombs let him know that the people responsible for Akuze went by the name of "Cerberus."

Shepard raised his pistol at Jacob and Wilson.

"I almost wish you listened to your friend Taylor. You and your boss must be deluded to the highest degree if you think I will associate with Cerberus in any way."

"Seriously Jacob? Piss off the boss and Shepard. You're just full of great ideas." said Wilson, with his voice dripping with sarcasm.

"I have no patience for people who lie to me Taylor. I also have zero patience for idiots. Right now you fall into both categories. If it weren't for the fact that we need each other I would have gunned down you both." said Shepard. With clear rage in his eyes.

"Look-Shepard. I understand your suspicion, hell if I was in your position I'd have trouble not gunning me down myself. But things change. Cerberus brought you back for a reason."

"I don't give a damn about your reasons! Take me to the shuttle bay or this will get unpleasant." said Shepard.

"We have to work together Commander. I believed that you deserve to know the truth."

Shepard was filled with rage at this moment. Ready to go berserk on the two men in front of him. But the logical part of his brain knew that revenge wasn't worth it. That it's not what would bring him peace.

"I'm only working with you out of necessity. Don't expect me to put my ass on the line for you." said Shepard. With nothing but steel in his voice.

"I understand. Once we get off this station, we'll take you to the Illusive Man. He'll explain everything, I promise." said Jacob.

"Your Illusive Man can kiss my ass. Let's get the hell off this station."

Fighting through the next stages of Mechs was a complete breeze. Shepard also managed to hack a few crates and steal credits. Much to the dismay of Jacob & Wilson.

As Shepard was getting close to a door, staying behind Wilson, pistol ready in his hand in case the latter tried something.

Come on! Through here." Wilson started typing away at the console to unlock the doors. "We're almost at the-"

When the door opened, it revealed a woman standing in armor that was very similar to Jacob's. Except that it was white.

Wilson, clearly in shock, began to stumble backwards as the woman took a menacing step towards him.

"Miranda? But you were-"

"Dead?" said Miranda.

Exasperated, Jacob put his hands on his head "What the hell are you doing?"

Without even looking at him. "My job. Wilson betrayed us all."

Keeping his gun leveled at her. Shepard said "I had a feeling he would stab me in the back."

"Good instincts. Some people are far too trusting to ever see that coming."

"What makes you think that I trust you?" said Shepard. Keeping his gun lowered, but still pointing at Miranda.

Instantly realizing the situation. Miranda began chastising Jacob. "Ah Jacob. I should have known your conscience would get the better of you. Well, since we're getting everything out in the open, is there anything else you want to know, Commander?"

"I find it extremely combinent that you show up right as we were leaving. Where were you during the attack?"

"Besides trying to save your life? Wilson sent an army of Mechs to take me out. I got here as soon as I could." said Miranda. "Probably too soon if you ask Wilson".

"What the hell does Cerberus want from me?" asked Shepard.

"Maybe you should ask the Illusive Man when you meet him. He poured virtually unlimited resources into you, obviously he has some kind of plan."

Unknown Leader with a Great Plan? Sounds like a cult to me.

"Where are you taking me?" pressed Shepard.

"Another Cerberus facility. The Illusive Man is waiting for you there."

"I don't trust you."

"This shuttle is the only way off this station. You wanna sit here and rot with the mechs? Be my guest."

Damn it...

Not breaking eye contact with Miranda. "Fine. I've had enough of this station to last a lifetime." said Shepard.

"Or two in your case. Come on"

The shuttle was continuing at FTL, Shepard had a moment to see his reflection in the window, noticing the red glowing scars on his face.

At least they match the armor color. Thought Shepard.

Shepard was very careful to discreetly keep his pistol on his hip, aiming it at Miranda and Jacob. Keeping his silence.

Miranda broke the silence. "Before you meet with the Illusive Man, we need to ask a series of questions to evaluate your condition."

Jacob looked at Miranda. "Come on Miranda? More tests? Shepard took those mechs down without any trouble. That has to be good enough."

"It's been two years since the attack. The Illusive Man needs to know that Shepard's personality and memories are intact. Ask the questions." ordered Miranda.

"I feel fine. You're wasting your time." said Shepard.

"The sooner we start, the sooner we can be done. Start with personal history."

"Okay, records show you grew up on Earth. Tough environment, no parents. You enlisted and survived a Thresher Maw attack that killed the rest of your team. You then managed to kill the Thresher Maw on foot. Do you remember that?"

"What's a Thresher Maw?" asked Shepard

"Wait... what?" asked Miranda. Careful not to give away the concern in her voice.

"Nah, sorry. Don't remember anything." said Shepard, with a smug look on his face. Voice dripping with sarcasm.

"Alright...'' said Jacob.

"Commander, for what it's worth. The cell that caused the deaths of your squad on Akuze was a rogue one, everyone at Cerberus was appalled at what they did." said Miranda.

"Don't piss in my ear and tell me it's raining." said Shepard. Remembering a saying that Wrex once said. "Rogue Cell, my ass." said Shepard. Putting airquotes around "rogue cell".

"Miranda, the Commander isn't going to trust us. These tests are useless." said Jacob.

"Ah, so maybe one of you actually does have people skills. Enough with the questions. Only person I'm speaking with is this... Illusive Man. He better have answers. Otherwise, don't bother wasting your time." said Shepard.

Miranda was getting increasingly irritated at Shepard, but relented. Her boss did order her to bring Shepard back exactly the way he was. No control chip, no spying hardware of any kind. He must have been able to foresee Shepard being completely uncooperative.

This mission was going to be... interesting to say the least.

Author's Notes: Hello everyone! Zillionaire here. I wanted to apologize to my readers first and foremost. It took me nearly a month to update this story. I'm a college student, so between school, bills, and other various responsibilities. This has been difficult for me. I will try my best to update every 1-2 weeks. I can't promise anything though.

This is technically a novelization. But I will add events/dialogue that isn't in the game. Such as Sole Survivor Shepard completely going along with Cerberus, and never mentioning Akuze. I think that's ridiculous.

I feel like it's fitting that I update this story on N7 Day. Lol. Happy N7 Day!

If you can take the time out of your day to review this story. Please do. Be as brutal as you like. I'm here to have fun writing, But I also wish to become a better writer. Thank you for your time, in case you do decided to leave a review.

PS: Did you guys hear about the Mass Effect Trilogy Remaster being announced? I'm ecstatic about it, the sneak peak models look gorgeous. I definitely cannot wait.
