I've been binge watching Descendants and of course I notice the lack of Evie and Doug Content Thank Goodness for Fanfiction! :) Hope you are all staying safe! This is an AU story :) I love thinking of alternate universes for this couple. In this story because of their bad family history Doug and Evie are brought up to hate each other.
Evie was in her seat sketching out her latest design waiting for Professor Sebastian to begin the required Music Theory class. Why she needed music theory when she was trying to learn to be a fashion designer was beyond her. Evie starts shading in the dress when she looks across the room her friends Mal and Jay walking inside.
"Ready for another boring class."Jay smiles handing Evie a latte. Evie smiles in gratitude. "I heard The Professor was going to be assigning us partners for a project."Mal says
"Why do these professors always assign group projects. We never ever get paired together."Evie rolls her eyes
"I feel like it's punishment. They actually want us to learn and try. Yuck."Jay shivers Mal and Evie laugh.
Lonnie Chad and Doug walks inside the classroom and take their seats Chad smirks and bumps into Evie who spills her drink on her sketch book
"Damn it Chad."Evie squeals.
"WHOOPS! Clumsy me."Chad says sarcastically.
"Chad get out of here you're such a pain."Mal says helping Evie clean up
"I don't know why you bother coming to classes you guys are doing what you're meant to...You're the best custodial staff Ive ever seen."Chad says
"Why you little."Jay charges towards him
"Jay you can't."Evie stops him
"Yeah Jay you cant hit me You'll be sent back to The Isle."Chad Smirks suddenly Chad is pushed to sit down in the seat behind him.
"Get a move on Chad, Class is going to start."Doug says clearly irritated at the prince's antics, Evie looks up at Doug who makes his way around Chad and sits behind Evie in his assigned seat. Doug takes out his notebook and sees Evie's notebook is completely drenched in coffee he reaches into his bookbag and takes out a clean spiral notebook and black pen.
Evie wipes the remaining coffee off of her desk. She turns her head and sees a notebook and pen being handed her her. Mal turns her head and nudges Jay. Evie looks up at Doug and he politely offers her the supplies.
"Thank you."She says Doug nods at her once Professor Sebastian comes in and taps his baton on the music stand
"What was that about?"Jay asked
"Beats me."Mal shrugs as they pay attention to the Professor Sebastian.
"Quiet Class Quiet! Now! Before Summer Begins You have all been anticipating my end of the year assignment worth...70% of your final grade...You will be in pairs to create your own interpretation of music.. it must be heart felt raw...inspiring. It must make us feel something. It can be through Dance, Singing, Poetry. Whatever form of expression. Now the pairs will be...Mal and Chad"
"Oh Come on."Mal says holding her head "I'm going to be suspended if work with Chad. I'll turn him into a pair of gym socks before the end of this class."Mal says
"Mal...70% of your Final Grade."The Professor reminds him Mal closes her eyes
"Jay you are with Lonnie."He says
"Oh uhm...Okay."Jay says winking at Lonnie who rolls her eyes as she write in her notebook.
"Evie you are with Douglas."He says Evie closes her eyes and Doug clears his throat.
"Alright you have your pairs, you will present in the Auditorium on Friday! NOW Onto! Music Theory!" Professor Sebastian says
As Class Ends Evie waits until everyone is out of the classroom she sits back and Watched Doug talk with Professor Sebastian as she watches Professor Sebastian give him a fancy letter Doug shakes his hand in gratitude. Sebastian leaves the classroom as Doug places the letter into his binder.
"What is that a love letter?"Evie smirks Doug turns around and looks at Evie confused as to why she's still in the classroom.
"Wow you're interested in something other than your reflection."Doug says zipping up his backpack.
"Look I don't want to work with you either but neither one of us will pass this class and unless we work together. SO Like it or not we're stuck together."Evie says
"Let's meet in the auditorium after school."Evie says Doug nods "I'll be there."Doug says
"OH Hey...Thanks for the notebook."Evie says and watches as Doug leaves the classroom.
Evie is out in the garden finishing up homework as she waits for Mal Jay and Carlos
"Working with Chad on this project is going to bring out the worst version of me."Mal says slamming her books on the table Evie laughs
"What have you guys decided to do?"Evie asked
"He wants to sing about himself! He says the pressures of being the only Charming Heir is so difficult and heavy on his shoulders."Mal says as her eyes turn green Evie laughs as she shakes her head.
"I feel sorry for you though...Doug Hates you."Mal says Evie rolls her eyes and shrugs
"What did I expect I mean my mother did try to kill his father and his uncles over 20 years ago."Evie says
"Come on, Doug Miner is harmless plus He's a Straight A student he's gonna put away his pride and hatred for Evie before he gets a failing grade."Carlos says
"Speaking of I have to meet him."Evie says packing up her bag.
"IF you need us just let us know."Jay says
"I Can handle myself. See you guys at dinner."Evie says as she walks into the auditorium
As Evie makes her way to the auditorium she hears the piano playing from the Auditorium she quietly makes her way inside she stops when she sees Doug skillfully playing on the piano she set her bag down and smiled as she watches Doug glide his fingers around the white and black eyes the melody of the song beautifully ringing throughout the auditorium. Evie turns her head and sees the peace and calm state that Doug is in as he plays she takes out of cellphone and takes a photo she bites her bottom lip and smiles at her phone then puts her phone back into her purse. Doug finishes the song and takes a deep breath
"AHEM!" Doug hears, He turns his head and immediately blushes
"Have you been standing there long?"Doug asked
"Long enough to realize you're a freaking musical genius."Evie says
"Well I am a genius over all so"Doug shrugs as he stands up and shoves his hands in his pocket
"Must be nice to have it easy."Evie says Doug adjusts his glasses
"Not as easy as you think."Doug says
"Right because Living in Auradon your entire life and having things spoon fed to you isn't the life people dream of."Evie rolls her eyes
"Wow.."Doug says as he nods and looks at the floor
"What?"Evie asked
"You really are incredibly shallow and misguided...Not Everyone in Auradon is swimming in their indoor heated pools in their castles. Some people actually have to work really hard."Doug says
"OH please your family owns a diamond mine I find it hard to believe you're not wealthy and getting everything you want."Evie says
"Not everyone cares about Money...and the only thing you know about my family is that Your mother tired to kill everyone in it."Doug says Evie gasps and clenches her fist
"Can we just do this stupid assignment please. I dont want to fail this course and I know you want an A for your prized perfect grade point average. Let's just get this over with and we never have to see each other again after we get out diplomas."Evie says
"Okay...So what did you want to do?"Doug asked Evie looks at him and opens her mouth to say something but no ideas come to mind.
"Lets brainstorm maybe we can come up with something."Doug says Evie agrees as she sites down taking out the notebook Doug gave to her and is writing down ideas.
Evie taps her pencil on the notebook trying to come up with idea and Doug suddenly taps his feet to the beat of her pencil then it hits Evie.
"Dancing.."Evie says Doug raises his eyebrow and looks at her.
"I've seen you dance during Family day and your moves don't suck so why don't we choreograph a dance?"Evie asked Doug nods
"That's not a terrible idea at all but...I've never seen you dance."Doug says Evie scoffs and takes out her cellphone pulling up a playlist and Doug crosses his arms and watches as Evie is dancing along to (I'm gonna love you)
Doug is taken by surprise at how graceful Evie is with each step he can't help but smile as he watches her dance to the beat. Doug realizes that he' hasn't taken his eyes off her Evie's face as she was dancing he feels his heart beating faster for some odd reason. Doug quickly pauses the song and Evie looks up at him hardly out of breath.
Doug nods "Looks like we're going to be dancing then."
"I get to pick the music."Evie says placing her hands on her hips. Doug takes a deep breath knowing he's probably not going to convince the blue haired beauty of any of his suggestions. Wait did he just think Evie was Beautiful...
"Yeah uhm sure..Whatever you want."Doug says Evie is surprised at his lack of disapproval.
"What no disagreement? I could pick a song you hate."Evie smirks Doug chuckles and shakes his head
"I don't doubt that you will but if this is partnership is going to work then ONE Of us should be the bigger person and allow some compromise without creating a big fuss.."Doug says
"And what makes you think I can't be a bigger person?"Evie asked Doug is confused at her reaction.
"Why is everything a fight with you? I'm letting you do what you want."Doug shakes his head
"Because you don't think I can work well with you. I don't need your pity Miner."Evie says crossing her arms
"Oh My Fairies I didn't say that at all. And What Pity I'm actually agreeing with you that you can pick the music."Doug says rubbing his eyes
"Oh My Fairies what are you 10?"Evie laughs Doug glares at her and takes off his glasses and puts them into his shirt this wasn't getting them anywhere and he knew this wouldn't be easy especially if he had to work with Evie of all people. Doug just quiets down and moves to sit down on the floor by the wall. Evie watches him as Doug sits on the floor closes his eyes and softly whispers something to himself.
"What are you doing? Are you having a stroke? Do I need to call someone?"Evie freaks out she steps in front of Doug and gets close to his face She looks at him and Doug isn't responding he's just breathing with his eyes closed
"Doug!...DOUG!"Evie says thinking of the only way to get him to snap out of it is to smack him. Evie takes a deep breath and raises her hand to aim at his left cheek before her hand can connect Doug quickly catches her palm and looks into her eyes and he smiles softly at her. Evie is taken by surprises and she stares into Doug's green eyes.
Doug looks at Evie's hand in his and he feels the pace of his heartbeat going faster again.
"Okay what the hell was that about?You Like zoned out for 5 minutes."Evie asked
"Do you not know what meditation is?"Doug asked Evie gives him a blank look
"Meditation is basically calming yourself for a few minutes to regain your composure so one doesn't get overwhelmed."Doug says
"Never heard of it. We don't ever do much meditating on The Isle it's all pretty much getting yelled at and rebelling against the Villain Parents."Evie says she realizes Doug is still holding her hand.
"Close your eyes."Doug whispers
"Why what are you going to do to me?"Evie asked getting defensive
"Can you just stop talking for once and just listen for like 5 seconds. Close your eyes."Doug says again Evie sighs rolls her eyes dramatically before closing her eyes
"Nothing is happening."She says
"Stop talking."Doug shakes his head as he chuckles Evie quiets down.
"Don't think. Just listen to my voice"Doug whispers "This isn't The Isle, you don't have to constantly look over your shoulder...You don't have to fight for food or shelter...or a blanket..You're Safe here..You're safe in Auradon."Doug Whispers Evie allows his words to sink into her brain Doug can see the tension leave Evie's shoulders. Doug takes a minute to appreciate Evie's beauty her blue eyeshadow, her rosy cheeks and full red lips.
"Open you eyes."Doug whispers Evie slowly opens her eyes and Looks at Doug amazed at what just happened. Doug's breath is taken away as he looks into Evie's beautiful brown eyes.
"How did you do that?"Evie asked
"What'd I do?"Doug asked right back
"Make me feel at...peace...for just a moment.."Evie says
"Something I picked up from my father."Doug says Evie looks at their hands. Then she remembers who Doug's Father is...And Who Her Mother is...Evie quickly pull away from Doug and stands up
"Well my dress got dirty thanks to your little meditation Lesson."Evie says trying to be annoyed. Doug gets up and puts his glasses back on.
"I'll go through some music today and find us a song to put a dance to. Same time tomorrow."Evie says grabbing her stuff and walking out of the auditorium. Doug watches her leave and begins cleaning up the auditorium he grabs his bookbag then sees Evie's Blue Iphone was left on the desk he takes it in his hand and decides to bring it back to her.
Back in Evie and Mal's dorm Evie is blasting music but can't seem to get a feel for any of the song choices.
"All this freaking music and I feel nothing why is so hard."Evie groans
"Maybe because we're from The Isle and we have no feelings."Mal jokes
"What are you and Chad doing for this assignment?"Evie asked
"He's going to shut up and quote unquote look pretty as I sing a song."Mal smiles
"That sounds like a D- to me. Seriously he needs to participate if he wants to graduate and you need to make him. We're so close to the finish line M and this stupid class performance is whats standing in the way."Evie says
"Why are you so riled up? Did the Dwarf manage to get a rise out of you today?"Mal asked
"Something like that...I just find it ironic that being the daughter of the Evil Queen I have to help a meaningless Dwarfs Son that my mother tried to Kill."Evie says
"I've seen a lot of the rivalries in this kingdom but your and Doug's has to be the most intense..The way he looks at you though..its interesting."Mal says
"What do you mean?"Evie asked
"Let's put it this way...the way Doug looks at you sometimes is how Ben looks at me...Or How Jay looks at a HoHo dessert or how Carlos looks at Dude."Mal smiles Evie looks at Mal confused
"WITH LOVE E Geeze I thought you were the smart one."Mal laughs
"Oh Please Doug does not love me...not possible."Evie says
"This is Auradon anything is possible."Mal says
"Our Families hate each other. His Family hates me. And trust me when I say My family hates him. I hate him. I have always been brought up to hate him."Evie says
They hear a knock on the door and Evie stands up to open the door.
"Feelings and people change E.. I mean we chose to be good."Mal says
Evie opens the door and sees Doug on the other side "Doug.."She says surprised Mal smiles and sits up watching their interaction
"You left your cellphone in the auditorium thought I'd bring it back."Doug says handing it to Evie. Evie takes it from him and their hands grace again.
"Hi Dougie."Mal waves Evie turns her head and Mal smirks at her.
"Hi Mal..."Doug nods politely. Mal and Doug saw each other alot since Mal started dating Ben. Doug was also polite and Mal always tried to have some sort of connection with Doug since he's Ben's bestfriend.
"You know Doug we haven't had dinner yet you should join us at the cafeteria."Mal says
"Uh...I uhm Don't know.."Doug says rubbing the back of his neck
"Come on we dont bite."Mal smiles putting on her jacket "You're coming with."She says dragging Doug along with her. Evie is confused at what just happened and she closes the dorm room and follows Mal.
In the Cafeteria Mal Ben Doug and Evie are all at the table as Ben is talking about the Freshmen class from the Isle having Bullying issues with kids from Auradon
"Some people will just never get along Ben."Mal says
"Not true..Evie and Doug are sitting together right here right now for dinner. And their families are mortal enemies."He smiles Doug looks down at his food and Evie looks at her freshly painted blue nails.
They hear a crash on the floor and see one of the new Isle kids on the floor covered with food on his shirt It was Squirmy Mal and Evie stand up as they Chad scoffing and wiping the food from his hands
"You made a mess on my designer shows you Isle Brat."Chad says
"Well ..Say SORRY!"Chad yells Squirmy doesnt say a word he just looks at Chad confused Doug watches intently then realizes something.
"Mal Evie Don't..You'll get in trouble if you intervene."Ben reminds them
"We can't just do nothing Chad is picking on a kid!"Mal says
"Time I teach you some manners Chump."Chad says opening up the milk carton and raises it to pour on Squirmy's head Doug gets up from the table.
Evie Ben and Mal watch with curiosity Doug roughly bumps into Chad causing him to spill the milk on his shirt Chad squeals and everyone ends up laughing at Chad
'Oh My gosh Chad I'm so sorry! I was walking and tripped, Oh no did I spill your milk on your shirt I'm so sorry Really I am...You should get that dry cleaned otherwise you'll smell like a dumpster."Doug says
"Oh No Audrey will never give me her number if I smell like dairy!..."Chad panics and runs out of the cafeteria sliding all over the place. Doug chuckles and kneels down to face Squirmy. Doug begins using Sign language."Are you hurt?" Doug Signs Squirmy smiles brightly and signs back at Doug. "No I'm fine the food here smells amazing though..My shirt is a little sticky."Squirmy signs.
Doug takes off his cardigan and hands it to Squirmy "Here take this"Doug signs Squirmy nods at him.
"Squirmy has never smiled that big before.."Mal says surprised Evie watches as Doug extends his hand out to Squirmy and he takes it Doug walks the child over to the table and pulls the seat out for Squirmy Doug places the big piece of chocolate cake in front of the child and signs "Go ahead dig in it, It's Chocolate!"Doug signs
"Thank You!"Squirmy signs back and digs into the cake. Doug smiles and Ben nods at his bestfriend proudly.
"Okay what the hell just happened?"Mal asked confused Doug looks at the Isle Beauties confused
"How did you know Squirmy was deaf?"Evie asked
"You guys didn't know that?"Doug asked Her and Mal
"We always thought Squirmy was just a boy who didn't speak.."Mal asked Doug smiled as he looked at Squirmy who's gobbling up the cake.
"My father is Deaf."Doug confirms
"Dopey is deaf?"Mal asked never realizing this.
Doug nods "My Uncles taught me sign language so i could communicate with my Dad at a young age, And When Squirmy looked confused at what Chad was saying I realized why its not that hes not listening...it's because he can't use Chad's form of communication."Doug says
"Great job..Man"Ben pats Doug on the back. Doug watches at Squirmy is happy eating the cake in front of them Squirmy looks up.
"This is delicious can I have more?" Squirmy signs Doug chuckles "Sure."
"He wants more cake."Doug chuckles
"Well then let' see if we can get him a whole Cake! Come on Mal."Ben smiles standing up Mal messes up Squirmy and Doug's hair and follows her boyfriend.
Squirmy turns his head and sees his Squeaky and Dizzy walking into the cafeteria
"There he his! Squirmy!"Dizzy smiles
"Are you okay We heard what happen with Chad"Dizzy signs
"I'm Great! Doug helped me and gave me cake!"Squirmy signs Dizzy smiles
"You know it's suppose to be a nice day out tomorrow, how about I take you kids to the Lake?"Doug asked
"YES! We can have a picnic!"Squeaky says Doug nods "Yeah I'll bring the food and blankets."
"Evie will you come too!?"Dizzy asked Evie looks over and Doug who shrugs.
"They'd be disappointed if you didn't join us."Doug softly smiles Evie nods
"Of course, I'll come with you guys."Evie smiles at Dizzy. Evie looks up and softly smiles at Doug
~The Next day At the Enchanted Lake~ Dizzy Squirmy and Squeaky are splashing each other in the water Doug sets the big picnic blanket on the platform as Evie sets down the picnic basket and sets the food down.
"Thank you.."Evie says Doug looks up at her and listens.
"Ever since the kids got here no one except me Mal Jay Carlos and Ben have really accepted them...they're really happy today..and that's because of you."Evie says
"They're kids...they should be given a chance to be happy...I mean it worked out for you 4."Doug says
"Yeah but we didn't have THAT many people in our favor before..I mean you still hate me."Evie says
"I don't...hate you...Evie."Doug quickly responds as he looks down at his hand.
"Really?"Evie asked
"I know how the story of our family goes, I shouldn't want anything to do with you and when you guys got here 3 years ago...I didn't want anything to do with you. I figured I'd help with the program and then move on..but everywhere I look everywhere I turn You are everywhere."Doug jokes
"I mean I have gorgeous blue hair I'm hard to miss."Evie smiles
"I admire your drive and your compassion...You have no reason to be kind to anyone here but instead you want to teach them...and have them wearing all the clothes you design apparently."Doug laughs
"I like how you don't think twice to help someone...no matter who it is...And I mean you've been helping The VK's alot lately..."Evie says
"Villain Kid..Auradon Kid...none of that matters. We're all the same.."Doug shrugs
"I guess that's why you're the smartest person in Auradon. No one else seems to think that way."Evie says as she reaches out and holds his hand. Doug looks down at their hands and chuckles.
"Any luck picking a song for our dance?"Doug asked
"I have it narrowed down to two"Evie says "I really think you'll like this songs I pick are ballads so I was thinking something slow and emotional."Evie says
"Yeah that sounds like a great idea...I'm sure whatever song it is we can choreograph something great."Doug nods
"Okay enough about the project let's have fun I mean do you remember the last time you just enjoyed the day look at how beautiful it is."Evie says looking around at the lake.
"Yeah really beautiful."Doug says as he tucks a piece of hair behind Evie's ear, Evie smiles widely and blushes not expecting that response.
"Very Smooth. Miner."Evie smiles Doug smiles back at her and Evie shakes her gets an idea and turns her head and looks at the water. Suddenly she pushes Doug into the lake. Evie laughs Doug comes up from the water Dizzy Squirmy and Squeaky pile on him and begin splashing him everyone is laughing.
"EVIE GET IN THE WATER!"Dizzy yells!
"YEAH EVIE COME IN!"Squeaky giggles Evie smiles and ties her hair up takes off her heels then walks into the water Evie squeals
"Oh my gosh it's freezing."Evie yells Doug laughs, Dizzy Squirmy and Squeaky splash the older teenagers Evie and Doug laugh as they chase the kids. While the kids are eating the food Doug and Evie go to the top of the cliff.
"Wow this view is amazing."Evie says as Doug holds her hand.
"Ready to jump?"Doug smiles Evie looks at him confused
"Excuse me? I'm not jumping down there it's like 20 feet!"Evie says
"It's only 15 come on Wheres the Sense of adventure."Doug smiles innocently
"It's at the bottom of the cliff."Evie says Doug shakes his head and begins taking off his tank top Evie raises her eyebrow and watches Doug. Doug wasn't an overly muscular man but he was lean and he did have a toned stomach and nice arms from working at his family mines and constantly dancing.
"See you down there."Doug waves then jumps "HEIGH HO!" He yells
"Oh my God Doug!"Evie yells as she looks down the kids are shocked
"I give that a 10."Dizzy nods
"I say 9.5"Squeaky says
"I give it a solid 8"Squirmy signs Doug swims up and shakes his head "Get down here!"He yells
"I'm taking the stairs!"Evie says
"If you jump down here I'll let you dress me for the performance!"Doug yells Evie taps her chin
"NOT WORTH IT!"Evie yells! Doug gets an idea and then quickly dunks into the water Evie looks down and doesn't see him
"D-Doug? Where are you Doug?"Evie asked
"Where'd he go?"Dizzy asked
"Oh no..."Evie panics she takes a deep breath and dives into the water when she comes up for air she splashes around
"Doug!? Doug!"Evie says she turns her head and sees Doug slowly coming up and smiling at her
"Hi."He smiles Evie gasps and splashes him
"I thought you got pulled into the water or something you jerk! You scared me!"Evie says splashing him Doug laughs and grabs her arms pulling her close to him Evie still splashes him.
"It got you down here...but thanks for trying to save me...I guess you do care about me Huh Grimhilde?"Doug asked
"Yeah well if you got hurt I wouldn't be able to pass Music Theory."Evie lies Doug laughs
"Just admit you care about me."Doug jokes Evie looks at her "You're really surprising me thats all I know for now.."Evie says
"I hope that's good.."Doug says Evie wraps her arms around him and shakes her head
"Definitely never felt this way before...so I think it's good."Evie whispers Doug moves her wet blue hair out of her eyes and smiles at her.
"YOU GUYS THIS PIE IS AMAZING YOU HAVE TO TRY SOME!"Dizzy yells causing Evie and Doug to pull apart remembering they were at the lake with the kids.
"We're coming!"Evie says she pull Doug along with her and get out of the water Doug helps Evie out of the water and onto the platform he grabs a towel and wraps it around her shoulders Evie smiles at him. Doug sits down and smiles knowing that the Isle Kids are enjoying the day. As Dizzy is talking to Evie about what she has been sketching Doug notices Evie reach out and lace their fingers together Doug smiles as he looks at her.
"This is fun...it's like a great family day! You two are Mom and Dad."Squeaky says
"Let's get back into the water"Dizzy says the two boys nod and Evie blushes
"Tell me a secret. Something no one else knows."Evie says as she faces Doug. Doug nods.
"My family and I don't have the best relationship right now."Doug Reveals Evie is taken by surprise by that
"What How Come?"Evie asked
"I have 6 Uncles...within those 6 uncles...3 got married... and 2 have kids..Uncle Doc and his Daughter Daisy...Uncle Grumpy and His Son Gilbert..and then theres My father Dopey and Me...So All 7 dwarfs in charge of the biggest Diamond/Gem Mine empire and My Father and My Uncles want me to run the empire...Apparently my Cousin Daisy wants to become a Nun...which we all support ...Giving the family business to Gilbert...thats a disaster waiting to happen...So they all want me to run it because I'm Smart good with numbers know how to approach people..I'm a quick learner...but I Don't want to."Doug says
"What do you want to do?"Evie asked
"I want to be a Doctor..being around Fairy Godomother and all these people with magic, I just want to be able to prove I can make a difference without using a wand or a spell book..that I can change the world with these (Doug holds his hands) And this."Doug says pointing to his heart.
"You'd think your family would support you ...Being a Doctor is an amazing profession..."Evie says
"Yeah but when you have an empire of jewels and no one to run it they all get judgmental."Doug jokes
"You'd make an amazing Doctor.."Evie says
"You're an amazing fashion designer...you should think about expanding your business..."Doug says
"Yeah right...The people wear my designs at school only because they think the VK Style is cool."Evie says

"I have always wanted to be a fashion designer...maybe I can take it more seriously after Graduation."Evie smiles
"Have your parents ever talked to you about My Mom?"Evie nodded "Once...I saw a scar on my father's arm, I asked him about it once. And he told me He and my uncles were fighting to avenge Snow White from The Evil Queen. Apparently back then your Mother had used a spell to become an Elderly Witch and tried to crush them with a bolder...Im sure you know the rest."Doug says
"Yeah Lightening hit the cliff and my Mom fell into the water...Everyone thought she was dead but she was alive and swam to The Isle..it wasn't until Maleficent was caught when they put the barrier up. Those two were the first prisoners of the Isle."Evie says
"Tell what was it like growing up there."Doug asked
"It wasnt all bad.. I mean yeah my Mom was hard on me but she taught me a lot how to cook sew, apply makeup but she always made me feel like my looks only mattered. Not what I thought or how I felt if people thought I was beautiful than I was considered Worthy...there'd be night where my Mom would not feed to because she thought I wasn't thin enough I hated those night...Or she'd have Jafar and Gaston over and she'd have they look at me and she would take their opinions about my body any make up to heart.."Evie says recalling those memories and tears fall down her cheek.
Doug sits closer to her and cups her cheek. Evie closes her eyes and looks down.

Doug clears his throat "We should take the kids back to the dorms..."He says Evie looks up at him confused she was sure that Doug would kiss her..She definitely wants to kiss him.
"Yeah...uhm Hey Guys let's clean up and head back."Evie says.
Evie walks into her Room and closes the door leaning against it. Mal waves at her best friend
"What you didn't have Fun at the Lake?"Mal asked
"It was amazing the kids loved it they had a blast."Evie says walking into her closet and picking out clothes to change into
"Did you enjoy?"Mal asked Evie looks at Mal
"How did you know that you were falling for Ben?"Evie asked
"I didn't realize it until I saw him being taken away from me...but I think I always knew he made me feel at peace..He made me feel like I was more than my Mom's past. I fell in love with him when I realized he made me love myself more..Wait Why are you asking me about love who are you...oh my gosh are you falling for someone?"Mal asked Evie sighs and nods as she sits on her bed.
"I'm starting to see Doug in a completely new light and I like it."Evie smiles shyly
"WHAT! Wow that's amazing! And Epic! I mean think about it your family history is definitely crazy.. I can't imagine how his family would react to him dating the Evil Queens daughter and your Mom what would she say ."Mal says
"M please stop talking.."Evie says realizing her bestfriend was right what if she and Doug could never be together because of their families.

Evie finds herself wandering into the Auditorium she turns her music on and puts on her headphones and begins dancing.
Doug is sitting in the garden strumming his guitar Ben comes down and hands him a water bottle
"I heard the kids loved the Lake today great job."Ben smiles Doug nods as he continues strumming
"Wanna tell me whats going on?"Ben asked
"When you told Mal you wanted to be with her...how did that play out?"Doug asked
"I said how I felt...and if she felt the same then great..but I knew it would take time for her to open up. I told her to allow me to teach her what love could feel like and we've been strong ever since."Ben says Doug nods.

"No we don't have that family history...whats going on Doug?"Ben asked Doug sets his guitar down and shakes his head.

Doug walks into the auditorium and sees Evie stretching. "Ready to dance?"Evie smiles
"Shouldn't I listen to the song first?"Doug asked Evie rolls her eyes and presses play. Doug leans agains the wall and listens.

Doug takes off his jacket and holds out his hand Evie takes it and they begin stepping to the beat Doug twirls Evie who begins swaying and spinning kicking her legs tossing her head back Doug watches her and steps along side with her Doug takes her hand and spins her into his arms he lifts her up and she looks at him letting her hand cup his face as she twirls to the other side of the room. Evie holds out her hand and Doug pulls her into his embrace and dips her.
Evie looks up at Doug and runs her fingers through his hair. The song still playing through the room she smiles at him and Doug looks into her eyes.
"I Like the song choice you did a great job."Doug smiles politely as he stands them back up. Evie huffs in frustration she turns to pause the music she looks as Doug is sipping his water bottle.
"Okay not to be rude but Are we not on the same page here?"Evie asked "The Moment at the Lake ...The Moment just now Why are you NOT kissing me? OR am I reading this all wrong?"Evie asked
"Believe me I want to kiss you I do.''Doug says
"But? Is this because I'm a Villain Kid because I thought we were past that. IS this about our families feud what!?"Evie asked
"Evie It's not about that at all I don't care that your mother is the Evil Queen I don't care about our families old feud."Doug assures her
"THEN WHAT IS IT! WHY WONT YOU LET YOURSELF GET CLOSE TO ME!"Evie asked in frustration.
"I didn't plan on falling in love with you Evie...I didn't plan this at all okay. Getting close to you...feeling things for you.. all of this I didn't plan it."Doug says
"And that's bad because?"Evie asked
"I'm leaving after graduation Evie...I'm leaving Auradon."Doug Explains Evie looks at him confused
"I told you that my family and I aren't in the greatest of terms..they basically disowned me when I told them I don't want any part of the family business. Once we get our diplomas I'm going to Oxford In England.."Doug says Evie is speechless.
"I've probably waited my entire life to feel the way I feel with you and you're telling me that you're not even going to stay here?"Evie asked Doug looks at her and takes a deep breath.
"I don't want to start a relationship when I know I'm going to be leaving...because if we do this..and I leave you...I don't think I could do that to you..You deserve someone who is willing to stay here for you."Doug says
"You don't even want to take a chance on this? On Us? On me?"Evie asked Doug looks down and doesn't say anything Evie shakes her head and crosses her arms
"You know for someone who is the Son of a Hero kid. You're being a coward."Evie says walking past him
"Evie..."Doug calls after her and he sighs he sits down and looks at himself in the mirror
"Good job Doug. For a smart guy you sure are dumb."He says and lays down on the floor.
A few days past and Professor Sebastian and the Music Theory class are in the Auditorium as several students perform for their final grade
Lonnie and Jay did Poetry Jay played the bongos and Lonnie recited a poem Professor Sebastian gave them a B+
"Before we go on I just want you to know something.."Evie says backstage Doug turns to face her.

Mal and Chad are singing a duet then Chad ends up tripping on one of the cables and knocking his fake crown on his head Mal takes a deep breath to not turn Chad into a guinea pig.
"I'll give you two A C+ you still pass. Next up with have Doug and Evie."
The Music begins and Doug walks on stage stepping the the beat Evie dances on stage along side him.

As the class is dismissed Mal joins Evie in the Garden "Why are you sad you just got the highest grade for your guy's epic performance" Mal says
"I said something to Doug before the performance and I guess I thought it would change something...but I was wrong."Evie says before Mal can say anything Doug walks over to them holding an ice cream cone.
"I'm gonna go turn Chad into skunk."Mal says and leaves Doug chuckles

"She's really not he's gonna be a skunk so don't go to your dorm tonight."Evie laughs Doug holds out the ice cream for Evie which she accepts
