"Alright when the new Isle Kids come we should be able to enroll them into Remedial Goodness for first period. How are the arrangements coming for their dorms?"Ben asked Evie
"Well Lumiere is working on trying to get the Twins a bunk bed in their dowm and Dizzy and Celia will be staying with me in my Castle."Evie says Ben frowns and shakes his head.
"I don't think she should be staying with you for the school year my Dear, they should experience Boarding school in all it's glory. They need to be open to expericing all that Auradon IS."Ben says
"Yeah but I haven't seen Dizzy in 3 years and she's practically my sister plus there's more than enough room for them at my castle."Evie explains
"Which I understand, but You should be moving in here with me Evie..I mean you are my Lady...My parents think it's time for us to start thinking about OUR Future together."Ben smiles at her
"Ben we talked about this..I've worked so hard to start Evie 4 hearts and this castle allows me and my friends to really have a home together. I've never really had that growing up and now that I can do that on my own and for my friends.. I don't want to just give that up.."Evie says
"You have a home here too..look I know you want to be with your VK friends but we should think about our future..I'm King Evie...and I want you to Be My 's been the plan."Ben says Evie looks at him uneasy when the doors open.
"Alright let's get this meeting on the road I have things to do."Mal says taking her seat beside Evie.
Jane Lonnie and Fairy Godmother take their seats. When King Adam and Belle walk into the board room King Adam removes his glasses as Belle holds his hand
'You're Highness is there a problem?"Fairy GodMother asked
"We just received terrible news.."Queen Belle says
"What is it mother?"Ben asked
"One of our Greatest Allies has passed."King Adam asked
"Who was it?"Mal asked King Adam and Looks at Ben and places his hand on his son's shoulder.
"Dopey Miner...We lost Dopey Son..We got word from Doc this morning."King Adam says
"Where's Doug? Is he alright?"Evie asked Ben turns his head to look at his girlfriend " Doug was the first to find out , He's Driving to the Dwarf Woodlands now..."Belle says Evie bites her bottom lip feeling very uneasy about Doug being alone.
"Poor Doug.."Jane says FairyGod Mother Holds her daughter's hand
"Let us take a moment and remember a true Hero. To A unique man...Dopey Miner."King Adam say Fairy GodMother waves her wand and the flags on the castle disappear.
"All will know that Auradon is mourning."Fairy GodMother says.
After the Meeting Ben Evie Jane Mal Jay Lonnie Chad and Carlos are in the garden.
"Has anyone spoken to Doug yet?"Carlos asked
"I talked to him this morning at least I tried to I was walking toward practice and he was running towards his car he didn't even have a suitcase or anything just took his keys and sped off."Jay says
"He won't answer my text messages...What are we going to do guys should we go there?"Jane sadly asked
"No..I know Doug he probably just needs space, he's a tough kid he'll be able to get passed this."Ben says Mal scoffs and crosses her arms, Ben looks at Mal confused.
"Ben he lost his father.."Mal reminds him
"Yes Mal I'm aware...I was very close with Doug and Dopey we grew up together.."Ben says
"Then you shouldn't brush this off this isn't something that can be fixed in a matter of days, or even forgotten. We have to accept that Doug may not be the same after this."Mal says
"I understand his pain Mal!"Ben growls at her
"Really have you ever lost anyone? Before you speak oh Wise King to Be make sure your words don't come off as arrogant."Mal says as her eyes glow green. Evie stands between her boyfriend and Best friend
"Mal Ben That's Enough!,This isn't about us this is about Mourning Dopey..and finding a way to be there for Doug.."Evie reminds them. she sighs and runs her fingers through her hair "Let's just call it a day a lot has happened we just all need space and to cool off. "Evie says
"Evie is right let's all just take today and just remind ourselves what's important in life."Carlos says Everyone nods Ben holds out his hand for Evie to take. Evie shakes her head.
"You go ahead Hon. I'm going to just go back to my castle with the others"Evie says
"Evie...I really think we should be together today My parents are going to want to discuss how to address the people with us."Ben says
"Yes I know but I have business to attend to it's important to me. I'll catch up with you later."Evie says Ben nods and kisses her cheek and walks back into the Main castle.
Evie walks into her home and taps her chin she places things in a basket and packs a small suitcase with her clothes. She also back in new shirts and pants in the suitcase.
"Where do you plan on going E?"Mal asked leaning against her door frame.
"I need you to cover for me."Evie says to her best friend
"Why...Evie what are you planning?"Mal asked
"I don't like knowing Doug is alone especially now he needs a friend.."Evie says
"And that friend is going to be you? Evie we can send Jay and Carlos to check on him."Mal says
"No I really think I should be the one to go..Please Mal I know you dont understand but I have to be there for Doug..."Evie says Mal sees the look in Evie's eyes and already knows the truth.
"Alright I'll cover for you but you're not driving there..I know a spell that can get you to the Dwarf Cottage"Mal says Evie smiles
"Thank you Mal..."Evie says picking up her suitcases.
"Okay Take a deep breath, here is my friend standing tall and proud,all the noise is much too loud, must ignore all this roughage take her to the Dwarfs Wooden Cottage.."Mal says Evie takes a deep breath and she disappears.
~Deep in the wooden forest there is a lovely cottage~ Doug was sitting by the fire his head hanging low and glasses in his hand. Doc Dwarf rolled down his sleeves and kneels in front of Doug.
"They are taking the body to the mortuary. I have contacted the rest of the family everyone will be here in the next few days."Doc says Doug runs his hands through his hair.
"Son you haven't said anything since you arrived...you don't have to stay here you know. You can stay with my family tonight."Doc says
"Uhm..No I'll be fine here. I haven't been home in a while anyway."Doug says
"Let me know if you need anything."Doc pats Doug on the back. Doug locks the door and looks around the house he takes a deep breath he walks up the stairs. Doug walks into his father's room and tears already fall down his cheek Doug looks at the portrait of his father and Him above the bed. Doug takes it down and sees a hole in the wall inside the wall is a led box. Doug sits on the bed taking the led box in his hand and opens it up.
In the Box He saw A Granite Gem, For his father's birthday. Emerald gem representing his birthday...Doug sees an envelope and he opens it up.
"My Dearest Son, I hope this letter reaches you in good spirits. I want you to know how proud I am of you. Your intelligence and your kind heart is assurance that I have done well as a father. Being a Hero is easy...being a GOOD Father is the challenge. And I hope I have been a good father to you Son. Your mother and I did not work out and I always regret never giving you the Family you deserved. One Day when you find love I hope it will last forever and Maybe you will ask her to marry her using this special ring. I love you Son never forget you are not just a son of a hero You. Are Doug Miner..and you are capable of so much." Love Dad Doug picked up a Sapphire gem engagement ring.
Doug chuckled and shakes his head "Who am I going to give this to Dad?"Doug says to himself as he puts the ring in his pocket he hears a thump come from downstairs. Doug brings the lead box with him and walks down the stairs he sees the door is locked he picks up the fire pick and walks towards the kitchen where he hears noise.
Doug takes a deep breath and raises the pick. He turns and sees Evie standing there with suitcases.
"Evie?"Doug says confused Evie turns around and smiles at Doug.
"Hi.."She whispers She gives him a confused looking at the "weapon" in Doug's hand
"Sorry..uhm I thought you were a bear or something.."Doug says setting down the fire pick.
"What are you doing here?"Doug asked Evie takes his hand and leads him to the fireplace
"Figured you needed a friend..and I didn't think you should have been alone while dealing with all of this."Evie says Doug rubs the back of his head
"You didn't have to come all this way...how did you even get here?"Doug asked
"Well my best friend does have a spell book...it comes in Handy when we need it to.."Evie smiles then holds Doug's hands
"How are you?"She asked
"Oh I'm fine...this place looks so much smaller than I remember.. Uncle Doc left about 10 minutes ago and everyone else will be arriving shortly once the funeral arrangements are completed..I'm just going through some of Dad's old things.."Doug says showing Evie the led box
"I'm amazed he still kept all of this."Doug chuckles softly "Do you want some tea...I can make us some dinner you must be hungry."Doug gets up Evie quickly grabs his hand Doug looks at their hands Evie stands up face Doug.
"You don't have to do that.."Evie whispers says
"Sure I do you're a guest."Doug says faking a smile
"You don't need to entertain me that's not why I'm...I'm here for you Doug..You don't have to pretend not with me."Evie says Doug looks at Evie and takes a deep breath and tears fall down his eyes, Doug Quickly pulls Evie into a hug as he weeps onto her shoulder. Evie strokes his hair and whispers calming words into his ear.
~At Evie's Castle~
"She went to see Doug..."Carlos says
"Wow.."Jay says
"I know I'm telling you guys she's in love with Doug."Evie says
"I know for a fact Doug loves Evie."Jay smirks as he eats his Steak Carlos throws an apple at Jay but Jay quickly catches it and stick his tongue at his best friend.
"What How do you know that?"Mal asked
"Doug was helping me with my spin techniques for the Tourney squad he was telling me which angle I should swing my body and one of the chicks from the Auradon College across the way spotted me and wanted to double date and I was going to say hell yes but Doug said no he said his heart was spoken for."Jay says
"That doesn't mean it' Evie."Carlos tries to give Jay a signal to shut up.
"It's totally Evie he gets those Heart shaped eyes everytime she walks by and if you've read his poetry its all about her."Jay chuckles Carlos rolls his eyes
"You can't say anything to Evie Mal...Doug doesn't want Evie to know."Carlos says
"Why not?, if there's a chance Evie loves him back shouldn't we tell her?"Mal asked
"Are you forgetting Ben and Evie are together? King Ben as in Doug's best friend since Diaper days. Doug doesn't ever want to ruin their friendship so he stays back and takes the heartache."Carlos says
"Thats terrible...I mean especially now that his father is gone...Doug needs to know he's loved.."Mal says
"Look we don't even know if Evie has those feelings for Doug...let's just stay out of it"Jay says Ben knocks on the door Mal turns her head and sees Ben
"Oh shoot it's King Dweeeb. What do we do he's probably here to see Evie.""Mal says
"Do What we do best...LIE!"Jay says quickly running to open the door.
"Ben my main kind whaddup!"Jay smiles
"I'm here to see Evie...she and I had a bit of a quarrel earlier and I wanted to make it up to her."Ben says holding a velvet long box.
"She's uhm...busy in the shower...plucking her eyebrows."Jay says
"I can wait."Ben smiles sitting down on the couch
"Have you heard from Doug?"Mal asked sitting across from him
"No he won't answer my phone calls or text messages...I thought about what you said. And You're right. I don't know what it means to lose someone...and I can't imagine what he's going through and it sucks because he's going through it alone..I just wish I could be there for him."Ben says
"Trust me Doug isn't alone."Jay says Mal elbows Jay in the stomach
"What?"Ben asked
"What he means is Doug is never really alone especially now his father's...SPIRIT will be with him."Mal quickly thinks
"Thats a great way of looking at it Mal."Ben smiles Mal nods
"How do we get him out of here?"Jay whispers
"I have no idea.."Mal says trying to think of a plan.
~Back at the cottage~ Doug and Evie are sitting in front of the fireplace and Doug is showing Evie his family photo albums
"Oh my gosh this chubby baby is you! Look you're holding a pick axe!"Evie gushes over the phone Doug groans in embarrassment.
"I think I'm like 3 in that picture...and that was the first time my dad and uncles took me diamond mining.."Doug chuckles
"Did you find anything?"Evie asked
"Uhm yeah.."Doug says lifting up his right hand and showing Evie a 2 carat diamond with his family crest on it the ring band
"My turned my first diamond as part of my family ring..personally I would have preferred he turn it into a puppy.."Doug smiles Evie giggles he looks down and sees a picture of him as a 10 year old and a young lady with black hair Evie squints
"How come She looks familiar I've never seen her around here.?""Evie asked Doug chuckles
"That's your step Niece."Doug smiles
"This is Snow White's Daughter?"Evie asked
"Yeah This is Ivy. She's a year younger than us...she and i used to play together all the time. At one point my Father and Snow kept saying she and i would end up marrying one another."Doug recalls Evie raises her eyebrows feeling a pang of jealousy brew up.
"How come you and her didn't end up together?"Evie asked
"Ivy moved to Arendalle to learn along side Queen Ana..she and I write every so often...but I never saw her that way. I knew in my heart I could never fall in love with her."Doug says he looks down and sets the photo down. Evie turns her head
"What is it?"Evie asked
"Its funny I planned out a lot of my life and I never planned for something like this to happen..."Doug says Evie sees a wedding photo of Dopey and someone in a white lace wedding dress
"Doug is this your Mom..."Evie asked
"Yeah.. I know I don't talk about her much...but My Mom is Vidia she's obviously a fairy from Pixie Hollow...she and Dad Divorced when I was about 8 I hardly remember it at all really but she wanted to try and be the # 1 Fairy in Pixie Hollow and my Dad raised me along with my Uncles..."Doug says
"Does she know what happened with your dad?"Evie asked
"I'm sure she does but she and I hardly have a Mother Son relationship...there's just a lot of damage to repair..I'm only close with Uncle Doc the rest of the family we're not tight but we're civil so..I'm gonna be pretty alone once they all leave.."Doug says
"You're never alone I'm here with you. I'll always be here with you."Evie smiles and kisses his forehead Doug closes his eyes and sighs in contentment. Evie pulls away and then kisses Doug's cheeks. Doug slowly opens his eyes and Evie cups his face and gently kisses his lips. Doug quickly pulls away from the kiss looks into her eyes.
"I'm Sorry.."Evie whispers Doug cups Evie's cheek and shakes his head and pulls her back into a passionate kiss. Evie kisses his back as they fall back onto the floor
~Back at the castle~
"Does Evie Normally take this long to pluck her eyebrows?"Ben asked
"You see how perfect they are...of course it takes this long."Jay says as he changes the channel on the TV
"Maybe we should just have you write her a note...You know Evie she's all about skin routine before bed."Mal says Ben look outside
"It's 4:30 in the afternoon."Ben says
"Evie is a Grandma at heart she needs her beauty rest."Jay shrugs
"She's already beautiful I'm gonna go up."Ben says pointing up the stairs Jay and Mal look at one another Ben reaches Evie's master bedroom and makes his way to the Master Bathroom he tries to open the door but it's locked.
"Evie Honey it's Me, open up I wanna talk about earlier today."Ben says "Look I know i've been pressuring you about accepting the title as Queen and I'm sorry it's just Mom and Dad they're pressuring me to rule everything and they think it's time I bring my relationship into that as well. I just want you to know I do support your dreams as a fashion designer and but You are going to be Queen...that means you'll rule along side me as we take care of Auradon. I know that you've worked hard for this castle and I don't want to belittle that but this reality...We're going to step into our roles as King and Queen soon..Evie?...Come On Hon Open up..I brought you a gift."Ben says
"Go Away...Ben..Please."Evie's voice responds
"Evie come on...let's talk about this."Ben begs
"Not Now..I'm busy...Please let's deal with this...another time."Evie's voice responds Ben sighs and sets the velvet box on the bed
"Ill see you tomorrow."Ben says and walks downstairs
"She and I will talk tomorrow morning..she's locked up in the bathroom you should check on her."Ben says as he leaves Mal and Jay Quickly lock the door as they run up to Evie's room the bathroom door opens up and Carlos is on his laptop and taps onto his keyboard
"That Was So Close."In Evie's Voice Jay and Mal smile and high five Carlos.
"Any word from Evie?"Carlos asked as he sets down his laptop
"No I'm sure she's comforting Doug but I don't know how long that will take...Ben said he's coming back tomorrow morning."Mal says
"She's probably just talking to Doug. Evie's always been a good listener."Jay says
~Back at the cottage~ Doug and Evie are kissing on the floor into front of the fire place. "Wait wait wait...Doug...We can't."Evie says pulling away As Doug begins kissing her neck. Doug stops and looks at her. Evie smiles at him and runs her fingers through his short hair.
"I don't want to take advantage of your grief..I know you're hurting...and I don't want to do THIS if it's only because you're grieving your father.."Evie says
"I've been in love with you for 5 years."Doug whispers Evie looks at him and slightly smiles Doug chuckles as he remembers the exact moment he fell in love with Evie.
"Sophomore year Mr. Delay's Chemistry class...he told you to find the Atomic weight of Silver...and You solved the problem right..and you told him to make sure to never underestimate a Villain Kid...Evie I've been in love with you the second you said AMU."Doug smiles Evie laughs and shakes her head.
"I cheated on that problem...I used my magic mirror to get the answer"Evie reveals Doug takes her hands and kisses the back of them
"The fact that you just said that makes me love you even more."Doug says Evie laughs and kisses his lips again.
"How come you never told me.."Evie whispers
"You had your dreams come true when Ben asked you out first...I was there when you first arrived with Mal Jay and Carlos the second you saw Ben it all made sense...you're a princess you belong with The Prince...you were happy and I didn't want to ruin that for you..so I let my feelings stay quiet...and Ben's my friend..oh god Ben is my friend and I just made out with his girlfriend "Doug says standing up rubbing his forehead and pacing.
"Doug...Calm down...I kissed you first.."Evie says following him into the bathroom Doug splashes water on his face he takes the towel and dries his face off.
"Doug...It's alright."Evie says wrapping her arms around his waist Doug looks in the mirror at their reflections and he sighs pulling her arms away from him Doug Faces her.
'You should head back home.."Doug whispers Evie gives him a confused look.
"Evie...Ben is probably waiting for you.."Doug reminds her
"You need me more than he does.."Evie says
"Ben is your boyfriend Evie...and He's my best friend...the kiss it was mistake. I made a mistake I shouldn't have kissed you...I wasn't thinking."Doug says taking his glasses and putting them back on and walks away into the living room Doug sits down on the couch and covers his face in shame. Evie watches him and she sits down in front of him taking his hands and brings them to her chest.
"Doug please look at me.."Evie whispers
"I can't..."Doug says
"Doug I'd be lying if I said I didn't have strong feelings for you too..."Evie says as she holds Doug's face to look at her. Doug looks at her broken and he shakes his head.
"Evie Please..Go..If I kiss you again I'm probably not going to be able to control myself and I can't do that to you...or to Ben...So Please just go..I've already lost enough today.."Doug says defeated. Evie looks at him and tears fall down her face.
"Doug I love you.."Evie whispers Doug closes his eyes and shakes his head. "I'll respect your wishes. I'll take care of Ben and I'm going to tell him I don't love him the way I used to anymore...and when you're ready I'll be ready too."Evie and kisses his forehead.
Doug looks at Evie "Thank you for being here with today.."Doug says Evie nods and walks out the door. Doug places his head on the door frame, as he locks it. Evie takes a deep breath and texts Mal "Spell me back home"~E With second Evie is teleported back into her castle.
Evie coughs as she lands on her feet. "Took you long enough"Mal says
"Yeah Ben left about 2 hours ago we were sure we were caught dead."Jay says
"How's Doug doing?"Carlos asked Evie looks at her friends with tears in her eyes and she sobs as she sits on the couch. Mal looks at Carlos and Jay confused as she hugs her bestfriend. Carlos and Jay sit beside her allowing Evie to cry.
"Doug turned you down?"Jay asked confused after Evie had told them what happened.
"It's not that he turned her down Doug doesn't want to hurt Ben."Carlos says handing Evie a tissue.
"Im so stupid I kissed him first...and I shouldn't have done that I knew he was grieving his father's death and I just ugh whats wrong with me."Evie groans
"Nothing is wrong with you E. You wanted to comfort the person you love."Mal says
"Yeah and I just made it worse...Doug already lost his father and now he's scared he's going to lose his best friend why because I stupidly kissed him...and then he said all these beautiful things about loving me since the beginning and I was too blind to see it."Evie huffs
"You're being too hard on least you know how he feels now...Just break up with Ben and you and Doug are free to be together"Jay says
"Doug probably won't do that..I mean think about it he freaked out about the kiss..and turned Evie away...I think Doug is putting his friendship with Ben before his love for Evie."Mal explains
"That dude is a love sick for Evie though.."Jay says confused
"Yes but Doug's a man of honor and respect..With his father gone now the next person of close family to Doug is what his Uncles and Ben...He doesn't wanna ruin that. And If he ends up dating the lady who broke Ben's heart..that'll definitely ruin their age long friendship."Mal says Evie sighs.
"What do I do guys..."Evie asked
"It's simple Evie...What does your heart say?"Carlos asked
One week after the News of Dopey's Passing The remaining 6 dwarves with the help of FairyGod Mother King Adam and Queen Belle planned a funeral to Honor the Silent Hero.
The Morning of the Funeral everyone is in their formal attire Mal walks into Evie's bedroom as Evie is applying her makeup.
"You alright?"Mal asked
"Doug still isnt responding to my messages or phone calls.."Evie says trying to calm herself.
"Evie he's going through a lot don't take it personally."Mal says
"It's hard not to M...I know now more than ever that Doug is the one I want to be with...and I can't do that unless he wants that as well..I just hate that I wasted so much time you know."Evie says setting her brush down.
"Believe me I get it but don't think of it as wasted time, think of it as a prolonged happily ever after. You and Doug will get it. Did you break up with Ben yet?"Mal asked
Evie sighs "I tried talking to him a few nights ago about our future and he just went into a rant about US and US ruling Auradon. Mal I don't want to be Queen, I don't even want to be with Ben anymore...every time I get close to ending it we always get side tracked with Royal Business..."Evie says
"You're just gonna have to rip the band off..Sooner the better."Mal smiles Evie nods
"Evie...I told my parents we would ride with them to the Church."Ben says knocking on her Door Evie and Mal turn their heads Evie gets up and grabs her purse
"We'll see you guys there."Mal says Ben smiles at his Evie and kisses her cheek.
As Ben and Evie walk toward the limo "Ben I really need to talk to you about US.."Evie says
"I'm sure it can wait Honey...today is going to be very emotional...and I want to talk about us too."Ben says Evie nods as she gets into the Limo.
All of Auradon was present in the Auradon Church to say goodbye to a Unique Hero.
Mal Jay Carlos and Jane are all taking their seats in the church. "Has Evie broken up with Ben yet?"Jay asked
"She hasn't had time to, Ben was busy with Auradon and Evie was busy with fashion orders and making dresses."Mal whispers
"She's gonna see Doug today...that should be interesting."Carlos whispers
"I've never seen a dead body before...how do funerals even work in Auradon?"Jay asked
"Usually the family only goes up to say good bye in Auradon The King will say kind words someone will sing and Fairygod Mother will do best wishes for the body and his memory..then they'll bury the body out in Royal and Hero cemetery."Jane explains
Ben and Evie enter the church Along side King Adam and Queen Belle they take their seats in the 2nd row, as the Green Casket is wheeled to the front of the Church by Grumpy and Bashful they remove their hats and look down into the casket, everyone turns their heads as they see Happy Sleepy Doc and Sneezy all of who are wearing black suits walk into the church and take a their seats in the front row.
Finally Doug and Fairy godmother walk in together Doug is in a black suit with a green tie. He walks towards the casket he looks down and shoves his hand in his pockets, Doug takes off his glasses and begins to cry. FairyGod Mother whispers in his ear Doug nods and wipes his tears and takes his seat by his Uncle Doc, who places his hand on Doug's shoulder.
Evie turns her head and wipes her tears away it was killing her to not be able to hold Doug's hand or hug him she wanted to really be there for him and she couldn't.
"Are you alright.."Ben asked
"Yes I'm just..sad for Doug is all."Evie says Ben nods and wraps his arm around her.
Fairygod Mother takes the podium and softly smiles at the guests.
"It is with a heavy heart for us all to gather here and say Good Bye and Thank you to an amazing and very unique hero. Dopey Miner. His Bravery and kind heart will always be apart of our Auradon History...His love for his 6 brothers will carry on forever. And the unconditional love for his only son Douglas will be showed by all of the kingdom as well as the friends who knew him."Fairy GodMother says She looks over at Douglas and he nods standing up and walking to the podium.
FairyGod Mother takes a step back showing support as Doug speaks. "Oh Behalf of my Father and the Miner Family I would like to say Thank you to everyone who helped planned this funeral...To The Royal Family your kindness has been unwavering thank you so much for the support..to those who knew my family he was a man who hardly said anything, but his smile and his floppy ear and twinkling eyes will never be forgotten." Doug turns his head as looks at the casket.
"Uhm...I'm sorry I uhm..Dad I love you. And I can only wish to be as brave as you were in my life moving forward..it's going to be hard to do this alone but I know you're not only watching over me but over our family and over Auradon the place you loved so much. I love you."Doug says as he clears his throat.
FairyGodMother pats him on the back as Doug hugs her. There was not a dry eye in the church. Mal was holding Jay's hand for support. Jay was wiping his own tears, Carlos and Jane were leaning on each other they sobbed. Ben looked down at the floor as his heartached for his best friend and Evie didnt take her eyes off the the man she loved as he said goodbye to his father.
As the Funeral ends everyone is taken to the Cemetery Doug picks up the dirt and kneels down to drop it into the ground. Doug sees his family ring is shining he looks down at his hand and he can't help as the tears fall down his face. The rest of the dwarves place the dirt onto the floor and the casket is lowered down.
As everyone leaves the cemetery everyone gives Doug their condolences.
Mal Carlos Jane and Jay all hug Doug and he looks down "Thank you guys for coming"Doug says
"Of course man whatever you need we got you."Jay says wrapping his arm around Doug.
"Do you need anything? You've been very MIA it's understandable but we miss you man."Carlos says
"Yeah I'm just taking care of the properties Dad left...you guys are more than welcome to check out the Cottage there's a creek and everything.."Doug says
"Sure if you want we can all go tonight."Jane smiles
"That sounds great I could use the company."Doug says Mal looks up and nudges Jay they see Evie and The Royal Family making their way to Doug.
"Let's meet up at Evie's castle."Mal says Doug nods.
"Oh Douglas. Sweetie your speech was wonderful"Queen Belle says pulling him into a hug "Thank you."Doug says
"You are like a son to us Douglas so don't you dare hesitate to come to us for anything."King Adam says Doug nods shaking King Adam's hand the king and queen walk away and Ben pats Doug on the shoulder and side hugs him.
"You gonna be okay man?"Ben asked Doug rubs his neck "I don't know yet just taking it one day at a time. Well I'm here for you man Just know that."Ben says Doug nods
"I know thanks. You should join us tonight i've invited our friends to stay at the cottage over the weekend"Doug says
"Oh Man I wish I could but I have royal meetings all weekend..I'll try to stop by if I can get out of it."Ben says as he walks over to their friends as Evie walks over to Doug.
"Sorry I haven't responding to your messages I got them..I just uhm.."Doug says
"Don't worry about that I really just want to know if you were alright.."Evie says
"I'm getting there.."Doug says Evie sees Doug is playing with his family ring she walks over to him and wraps her arms around him and holds him tightly, Doug sinks into her embrace and holds her back and tears flow down Doug's eyes.
"You're father is so proud of you Doug never forget that."Evie whispers to him Doug nods. Ben is listening to Jay and Carlos talk about what they will do when they go to the creek at the cottage he turns his head and sees Doug and Evie in a tight embrace. He watches closely and can't help but feel a pit in his stomach.
"Ah I'm Sorry you're dress is filled with my tears..."Doug jokes and takes off his glasses Evie wipes her tears away.
"The fabric is the last thing on my mind trust me."Evie says
"Thank you for everything Evie..you're a...You're a good friend."Doug says "I gotta go...I'll see you guys later tonight at the Cottage I'll text you the directions."Doug says squeezing her hand as he walks away
"Tonight? What's tonight?"Evie asked
"Doug invited us all to go to the cottage for the weekend."Mal says Evie nods and smiles
"You in Ben?"Jay asked
"I have Royal business to attend to. I won't be able to come."Ben says Evie looks at him and frowns, everyone was on the same page Doug needed his friends especially this weekend.
"Ben...Doug needs us..All of us he needs his friends."Evie says
"Doug understands, you guys all go and have fun take Doug's mind off of everything."Ben says
"Can you guys give Ben and I a moment?"Evie asked The friends nod as they walk back to Evie's Castle.
"Ben we really need to talk.."Evie says Ben looks at Evie and holds her hand he kisses the back of it.
"Yes my dear we do."Ben says as they walk together.
~At the Castle~ Mal Jay Carlos Jane Lonnie and Chad are packing up Lonnie's SUV as they are getting ready to leave.
"Why are you even coming Chad...You didn't even go to the Funeral."Jay says crossing his arms.
"Hey Doug Understands...I have a fear of Funerals and the color black...plus Doug is my friend and I know he needs support so I will do just that."Chad says
"Wow that was actually considerate and nice of you to say Chad."Mal says shocked.
"Everything is packed up just waiting on Evie."Carlos says
"She may not even be coming, we might as well just go without her."Jay says
"Jay is probably right..I'll text her Let her know we're leaving."Mal says
"Let's get this show on the road."Jay claps his hands as they all get into the SUV.
They all arrive at the Dwarf Cottage and their jaws drop "Wow this place is amazing."Mal says speechless the forest was beautiful and right behind the cottage there was a big creek. Doug walks outside and smiles holding the door open for this friends
"Come on in guys. Make yourself at home."Doug says Everyone walks inside and they see Doug had cooked up a feast for them
"Dude this is awesome!"Jay says patting Doug on the back Doug nods
"Yeah after the funeral I had some time and I couldn't sit still so I cooked dig in. There's a couple dirt bikes in the garage you guys can ride through the whole forest."doug says
"SWEET!"Carlos smiles the friends all sit at the large table and begin to eat.
Doug is tending to the fireplace Mal walks over to him and holds out a beverage for him.
"Thanks."Doug smiles
"Wanna talk?"Mal asked
"About what?"Doug asked
'OH Come on Doug, I mean I get that your still healing over your father but I know what happened with you and Evie."Mal says Doug looks down at the glass and shrugs.
"I won't ruin my friendship with Ben Mal...He's like a brother."Doug says
"Doug, Evie loves you..not Ben."Mal says Doug sips the drink in his hand.
"Evie is going to be Queen and have everything she's dreamed of..and I'm going to sell this house and move away."Doug says
"You're leaving?"Mal says Everyone stops eating and turns to Doug.
"My Father left this house for me..and after a few days of being here alone, I realized I don't really have much here left in Auradon...So I figured once I sell it I'll get the money from that and go somewhere. start over."Doug smiles
"You're gonna leave Auradon?"Jane asked sadly Doug looks at his friends
"I have to guys...there's nothing really keeping me here in Auradon anymore. I mean besides Uncle Doc even he's leaving...I dont have any family in Auradon "Doug says They hear a knock on the door,
"I'll get is Doug."Lonnie says since she was closer to the front door.
"We can be your family man."Jay says
"Doug You're like my brother...who helps me with my taxes...you can't leave."Chad says Doug shakes his head.
"Who was at the door Lonnie?"Carlos asked Lonnie smiles and reveals Evie who is holding a suitcase
"Hey Guys."Evie waves everyone turns and they smile Doug looks at Evie surprised.
"Evie! We didn't think you could make it."Jane smiles Evie smiles
"I wanted to be here for Doug."Evie says Mal smiles when she sees that Evie is no longer Wear Ben's Family Ring
"We're gonna take our food and eat by the creek."Mal says signaling everyone to give Doug and Evie some time alone. Doug takes Evie's Suit case and puts it to the side along with the other luggage. Evie walks into the kitchen and Doug is walking after her he takes a plate and starts plating food for Evie. Evie watches Doug in silence once Doug grabs a cold water bottle from the fridge he holds out the items for Evie to take.
Evie takes the plate and water bottle "Im glad Ben let you join us.."Doug says
"There isn't anything that would keep me away from you.."Evie says
"Evie...we talked about this.."Doug says
"I broke up with Ben."Evie says Doug is surprised Evie sets the plate down on the table. She places her hand on Doug's chest and feels his heartbeat beating very fast, She then takes Doug's hand and places it over her own heart.
"I've never felt my heart beat this fast..It only happens when I'm near you.."Evie says
"Not even when you get new high heels?"Doug asked Evie giggles
"Not even then."Evie says Doug takes her hand and kisses her palm.
"Evie I love you so much...but.."Doug says
"But what? I'm not with Ben anymore Doug..What else is keeping us apart? Have you changed your mind about wanting to be with me?"Evie asked Doug Kisses her forehead.
" No Never...Evie youre the one I know i am destined to be with but, It's complicated...Ben is still my bestfriend and I don't want him to feel betrayed at all...Let me do this properly."Doug says
"And how do you plan on doing that?"Evie asked
"I'm gonna talk to him...tell him how I feel about you and let him know that the last thing either of us want is for him to be hurt..I owe him that much."Doug says
"Okay...I mean we waited this long waiting a few more days won't kill me...but You're stuck with me all weekend."Evie says Doug chuckles
"I'm glad."Doug says as he takes her hand and leads her out into the backyard they see their friends started a mini camp fire Doug sets down a blanket for Evie to sit on and he sits beside her.
"I can't believe you wanna sell this place and move."Jay says Evie looks at Doug and frowns Doug looks at Evie and gives her a reassuring smile.
"What does he mean by that?"Evie asked
"I was telling everyone before you arrived that I was considering selling the property..I don't have much family here anymore."Doug says
"And we told you ...you can have a new family with us Doug."Carlos reminds him. Evie leans her head on Doug's shoulder
"I could be your new family."She whispers Doug smiles and kisses her head they turn their attention back to Carlos who is telling a scary story as night falls Doug shows everyone to the rooms
Chad insisted he need a bedroom to himself, Jay and Carlos in one Room, Lonnie and Jane in another room and Mal and Evie in another room. Doug was in his father's room, late at night Doug couldn't sleep he walked into the backyard and looked out at the water he took a deep breath and twisted the ring on his finger.
"I miss you Dad..I don't know how to hand life without you...for the first time I'm lost."Doug whispers
"Doug?...What are you doing up?"Evie asked Doug turns around and sees Evie in her beautiful nightgown he shrugs
"I haven't been sleeping well lately and this is where Dad and I used to always have out talks so I usually come out here and talk like dad is here...makes me feel less alone. It's dumb I know.."Doug says looking down
"It's not dumb at all I can go if you want.."Evie says
"No it's alright..join me?"Doug asked Evie nods Doug takes the blanket and Wraps it around Evie as she sits beside him on the lounge chair
"Your Son really misses you Mr. Miner but your brothers and his Friends are making sure he knows we are all here for him..and Reminding him how much we love him...how much I love him."Evie says as she looks at Doug he blushes.
"I promise to take good care of your son."Evie says as she looks out at the water. Doug takes Evie's hand and kisses the back of it.
"Thank You.."Doug says
"I haven't done anything just telling the truth."Evie softly smiles at him.
"You're making it really hard to not kiss you right now that's just evil."Doug jokes Evie giggles
"Well I am the daughter of the Evil Queen."Evie says leaning closer to Doug to tease him, Doug stays quiet and Evie runs her fingers through his hair
"Hey...I'm here for you..let me in."Evie whispers Doug nods and lays his head on her shoulder and she holds him tightly. Throughout the Night Evie and Doug were talking about Doug's fondest memories about him and his father, and they fall asleep .
Carlos Jane and Mal walk out of the rooms and begin setting up for breakfast Carlos sees the back door open he checks outside he chuckles and sees Doug and Evie had fallen asleep Doug is laying on the lounge chair and Evie is on top of him.
"Hey guys check this out.."Carlos whispers Mal and Jane walk outside and they all take pictures
"They are so precious."Jane squeals she posts the picture #DevieIntheMaking
"GOOD MORNING!"Mal yells Evie sit up on top of Doug and she nearly Jumps up and they turn to their friends.
"Did we stay out here all night?"Doug says reaching for his glasses
"You certainly did nice nightgown Evie."Carlos teases
"Shut up."Evie says Doug wraps the blanket around Evie and she kisses Doug's cheek as she walks into the house to change.
"You two were cozy."Jane smiles
"Nothing happened..."Doug insists
"Whatever you, what do you wanna have for breakfast?"Mal asked
"Cook whatever you like the pantry and fridge are stocked.."Doug says to his friends as he goes into his room to change.
"AuroGram is going crazy over your post Jane."Lonnie says as she walks into the kitchen
"Yeah DevieInTheMaking Is trending."Jay laughs
"Really!? Thats awesome."Jane says clapping as she sets the plates on the table.
Evie walks out to the kitchen wearing a stylish leather dress she smiles at the food her friends have cooked she sits down and sips her tea.
"How is it possible Your post about Doug and Evie is have 100 likes already and my new haircut only has 4.."Chad pouts he put 3 pieces of french toast on his plate and slaps syrup on them.

"Jane posted the picture of you and Doug this morning and the AuroWeb Is going crazy.."Carlos says as he shows the photo to Evie, Evie smiles but then realizes something.
"Oh No.."Evie says
"What is it?"Mal asked
"I'm pretty sure everyone in Auradon has seen this post i mean aren't you glad you're trending."Jay laughs
"That's the problem everyone has probably seen this photo."Evie says
"You lost us here Evie.."Carlos says confused
"Ben...I broke up with him yesterday before I came down here.."Evie explains
"Ohh Im sure he saw that he just texted me."Chad chuckles showing the group of friends the text message
"Are You at the cottage with the Vks and Doug?"~Ben
"Don't answer that text I need to speak with Doug."Evie says going into the room.
Evie knocks on the master bedroom down she walks inside and the bathroom door opens Doug is drying his short hair with the towel she smiles at him as she sees him walking out into the room with his shirt unbuttoned she appreciated his lean tone figure.
"...Hi? You know if I knew having you guys over would mean all the hot water would be gone I may as well have bathed in the creek."Doug jokes Evie walks over to him and buttons the shirt up for him. Doug just looks at Evie's face he has the urge to kiss her again.
"You could have just joined me I'm sure I used the last of the hot water."Evie whispers Doug takes a step back and sighs "You don't play fair."He says as he puts on his glasses and combs his hair.
"Speaking of...we have may have a problem."Evie says Doug face Evie and he walks over to her and lifts her chin up to look at him
"What is it?"He asked
"You know how you said you wanted to talk to Ben before anything could happen between us."Evie asked Doug nods
"Ben may know something is going on with us."Evie says showing Doug her phone Doug looks down at the picture on the phone and nods.
"I'm Sorry.."Evie whispers
"Hey there's nothing to apologize for...things never work out the way I plan them to...I'll figure it out..Don't worry about."Doug says
"What if this ruins your friendship with Ben.."Evie says
"I'm praying that it doesnt...but Evie even if Ben and I can't be best friends after this...I'll have you...and I'm tired of holding in how I feel for you...I still want to speak to Ben first..but after that talk..I'm going to show you an amazing night of romance..not just that I plan on sweeping you off your feet"Doug says Evie blushes as Doug kisses her forehead.
"DOUG EVIE GET DOWN HERE BEFORE JAY FINISHES ALL THE FRENCH TOAST!"Mal yells
"We're coming."Evie calls out she holds out her hand and Doug takes it as they walk into the kitchen.
After Breakfast everyone is outside of the house Jay and Carlos are riding the dirt bikes, Chad is sun bathing and Doug is showing the girls through the Mining Caves.
"Are there still jewels down here?" Mal asked Doug helps them all enter the cave.
"Yeah there's a lot down here specifically the interesting thing around the Mining Lands around here is that it's strictly Owned by the Miner Family. Fairy Godmother put a protected barrier. Since Uncle Doc and My Dad were the only ones who wanted to continue mining they managed to make sure this was kept in the family for generations..."Doug explains
They Ladies all enter the cave and they walk further down and into the wagon. "Everyone seated?"Doug asked
"Let's go"Jane smiles Lonnie passes the helmets around Doug turns to pull the level which allows the wagon to roll. He turns around and sees Evie with a helmet he smiles at her.
"How do I look?"Evie asked
"Beautiful."Doug smiles at her "Awww"The 3 other girls gush Evie laughs at her friends and shakes her head the wagon begins to roll through the cave and then it comes to the a stop after reaching 10 feet into it.
The Ladies gasps as they Doug turns on the light on their helmets they see shiny gems and diamonds in the cave in the walls on the roof of the cave.
"Wow.."Lonnie says Doug helps the girls out of the wagon and picks up some tools and spreads them out on the small table.
"Help yourself."Doug smiles
"What you're letting us take some?"Mal asked
"Well yeah...I dont really have much need for all this stuff, I can even help you make them into jewelry. The good thing about these caves are it's infested with gems rubies and diamonds, once you take one out another will be in its plays in like 5 months...so have at it."Doug says
"You are the best!"Lonnie hugs him as they get to work. Doug turns his head follows Evie
"Looking for sapphire?"Doug asked
"No I'm looking for emerald or jade..."Evie says determined as she looks at the cave walls
"That's an interesting choice for you.."Doug says "Why?"
"It reminds your eyes."Evie says Doug chuckles Evie smiles at him and gasps "I see it"She says walking over to the wall she takes the pick axe and starts hitting the wall until the gem falls outs she smiles and picks it up. Doug walks over to her and he blows the dirt off of it helping her dust off the debris. Evie smiles proudly and she holds it up besides Doug's face
"Perfect."She says
"What exactly are you going to make with that?"Doug asked
"I don't know yet...maybe it'll be for me...maybe it'll be for you. My fashion senses will kick in eventually."Evie says
"DOUG I NEED YOU!"Jane yells Doug turns and sees Jane Struggling to remove a Ruby. "I'm comin!"Doug says jogging over to where Jane is to help her remove the ruby from the wall.
Mal walks beside Evie as she is holding up 4 diamonds in her hands "I love Auradon."Mal says Evie laughs
"Think I can melt this into one gigantic diamond?"Mal asked
"Probably not. Chemistry doesnt work that way M."Evie laughs
"You two seem to be hitting it off very well so far. Did you make a move yet?"Mal asked
"Not yet. Doug really wants to speak to Ben so I'm being patient."Evie says
"I think Ben is on the way here.."Lonnie says
"What?"Evie and Mal both say
"Yeah Chad said something about Ben being here before Sun down...he's on the way."Lonnie says
"Is this good or bad?"Evie asked
"I don't know but I mean it's Ben he's a prince whats the worst he can do."Mal says
"Beast Mode?"Lonnie says
"Lonnie.."Evie sighs
"I'm joking...look you and Ben are over and it's not like anything happened with you and Doug anyway."Lonnie says
"Well..."Evie says
"What? Did something happen?"Lonnie asked
"When Doug found out about his father's passing I came here to make sure he was okay and we kissed."Evie says
"Okay...Ben won't like that."Lonnie says
"Look at this Big RUBY!"Jane says proudly Doug is walking behind her and Evie notices Doug is holding at the palm of his hand
"What happened?"Evie walks towards him
"Oh one of the rocks on the wall cut my palm."Doug says Evie takes his hand she reaches into her purse and takes a piece of cloth and wraps it around his palm to stop the bleeding
"Let's head back."Mal says as they all pile into the wagon
"I'll get a first aid kit."Jane says as they enter the cottage.
"What happened?"Jay asked
"Just a cut I'll live."Doug says
"Sit."Evie says as they sit on the patio bench in front of the house
Evie is disinfecting Doug's palm he groans in pain "Sorry sorry...i'm cleaning it."Evie says as she bandages his hand Doug takes a deep breath once Evie is done wrapping his palm she smiles and takes a blue sharpie and writes on his bandage a blue heart. They both stand up and She kisses his palm. Doug smiles at her and cups her cheek
"Thank You."Doug whispers Evie smiles at him and shakes her head "I can't take this anymore.."Evie says pulling Doug by the collar of his shirt and kisses him, Doug is taken by surprise but places his hands on her waist and kisses her back with just as much passion.
A Black limo pulls up to the cottage Ben exits the limo he stands up and buttons up his jacket he walks towards the Dwarf Cottage he smiles remembering the fun times he and Doug had when they were kids. He walks up the path and stops in his place he sees Evie and Doug on the patio passionately kissing. Ben turns his head and quickly turns around he uncontrollably roars.
Doug and Evie quickly end their kiss and turn their heads. "Ben?"Evie says Ben's angry takes over and he quickly tackles Doug to the floor
"DOUG BEN! STOP IT!"Evie yells Jay Carlos Mal Lonnie Jane and Chad quickly run to the front of the house as they see Ben is throwing punches at Doug while on the floor
"BEN STOP IT!"Evie says Jay and Chad try to pry Ben off of Doug but Ben shoves them both to the side
"Mal help us!"Jay yells Mal mutters a spell and the roots from the floors wraps themselves around Ben's feet and arms.
"ROAAAR!"Ben howls
"BEN ENOUGH!"Evie says
"How could you do this to me! You're my best friend!"Ben yells
Carlos helps Doug off of the floor. "I didn't mean for you find out that way okay..I should have talked to you first but I love Evie."Doug says
Ben growls and tries to break through the roots. "She's mine!"Ben yells
"Ben we broke up I broke up with you yesterday. I'm sorry okay and I didn't mean for you to find out this way either but Doug would never hurt you okay he wanted to talk to you before we ever got involved."Evie says
"Alot that did huh Doug! Using your grief to get the girl!"Ben says
"I kissed him Ben This isn't all on Doug..."Evie defends him
"Can you guys give us a second?"Doug asked
"Are you just Man he nearly made you beast kill."Carlos says
"It's okay...I'll be fine."Doug says Everyone nods Doug clears his throat "Mal undo the spell its fine."Doug says Mal undoes the spell and everyone walks back into the house Doug looks at Evie and he nods at her.
Ben roars again and charges at Doug who stands there looking at his best friend
"You deserve to hit me again. Go Ahead.."Doug says
Evie stands up and makes her way outside "Let them hash this out this is what needs to happen."Jay says to Evie she sighs and crosses her arms as she sits on the couch and watches outside.
"I should rip you apart..You took my girl from me."Ben says clenching his fist.
"Ben she wasn't happy with you and Im sorry I need to say that to you...I am...but Evie's happiness means the world to me...thats why I backed off for years...You knew from the beginning how I felt about her."Doug says Ben looks at Doug and he looks down at his feet.
"Look...I'm sorry you found out THIS way and on AuroGram. I wanted to talk to you first man to man and let you know how I felt about her. And if that affects our friendship I'm sorry..but the way I feel for Evie...the love I have for her it's not something I want to fight anymore..."Doug says
"You're ruining 21 years of Friendship for her."Ben says
"I don't want to ruin anything but I know how much this will hurt you and I wish there was another way but...I love her man. I'm IN love with Evie..After everything I've experienced these past 2 weeks...Life is too short..and I want to start a life with Evie as long as she'll have me."Doug explains
"Your friendship means a lot to me Ben...I don't want that to end."Doug says
"You can't have both...I trusted you man..."Ben says as he walks back into the limo Doug nods Ben turns to face him "Take care of her. Maybe you'll make her happier than I did."Ben says as he enters the limo and they drive off.
"You okay man?"Jay asked handing Doug a bag of ice Doug ices his cheek and eye
"Yeah..I don't think Ben and I will be having a gaming session anytime soon."Doug says
"You took one hell of a punch man. Strong Jaw."Jay chuckles
"Let's not test that theory anymore."Doug says
"Need anything?"Jay asked Doug smirks "Yeah I do I need some help with something."Doug says Jay nods and listens.
Later on that night Evie wakes up from her nap and walks into the living room since the Drama from the afternoon she hasn't spoken or seen Doug.
"Have you seen Doug?"Evie asked Chad
"I think he's in the backyard."Carlos says Evie nods and walks outside she gasps when she sees a candles outside in the shape of a heart she smiles and sees a dinner table and small floating lights in the creek Jay smiles
"Madam I shall show you to your table."Jay says in a fake accent Evie takes his hand "Just so you know he has VK approval."Jay says and pushes her chair in Evie laughs as Doug walks towards her He hand her a Camellia. Evie smiles widely and smiles them
"Camellias are my favorite...how did you know Not even Ben knew that he'd always give me roses."Evie smiles at Doug
"You told me that when you were 6 years old and walking by a creek with your Mom one day you saw a Camellia you loved the smell and you loved how it looked because even though the flower was a bit damaged..."Doug goes on
"I could still see it's beauty."Evie finishes for him Doug nods
"You remember that?"Evie asked Doug nods
"Yes that and You are obsessed with Vegetable Spaghetti with lots of Mozzarella cheese."Doug smiles taking the cover off of their foods.
"And for dessert Vanilla Bean ice cream with chocolate fudge...it's in the freezer though."Doug says
"I'm speechless ...you remembered."Evie smiles Doug takes her hands and kisses her ring her
"I do know a few things about you Evie."Doug smiles
"Oh really what else do you know?"Evie smiles
"I know that you're excited to see Dizzy again and have Fort sleepovers once she's come to Auradon...and I know you sleep with a blue dragon named Baby Blue..I know also remember the twinkle in your eye when you got your First A+ on your chemistry Midterm Sophomore year you nearly called your mom but didn't...I know that You take 45 minutes for your skin care routine..You're proud of your Evie 4 Hearts Buiness and you're never going to let it go..and every morning you say a fairy prayer for guidance for yourself and the other Vk's ."Doug smiles
"No one else knows that..."Evie smiles
"Not everyone is in love with you."Doug says
"I say a prayer for you too."Evie reveals
"Oh really?"Doug asked Evie nods
"More so now than before...I'd pray that you would find peace with your father's passing...and that you would have the strength to continue without him...and That you would find happiness...and selfishly I prayed that you would make a move on me."Evie says Doug chuckles
"Well it's a good think you made the first move because I was terrified to.."Doug says

"Does this mean we're giving up a chance?"Evie asked Doug smiles and looks down at Evie's hands Evie looks at him confused then looks down at her left ring finger she smiles when she sees a Sapphire diamond ring on her finger.
"I love you with my whole heart...I don't want to waste anymore time.."Doug says
"Neither do I.."Evie smiles
"We don't have to plan anything now but this is my promise to you...I'm promising you myself for my entire life...I'm promising to cherish you and make you laugh...make you dinner..make you your midnight snacks...get you your tea...and do the dishes everynight."Doug jokes Evie giggles and cups his cheek.
"I'm promising that you'll never feel alone or unwanted or like your opinions don't matter..I'm promising be whatever you need in this life ...You're my family now Evie and if this is something you want...then I'm all yours."Doug says Evie leans up and kisses him.
"No more waiting..I want everything you want and I want that with only you."Evie says Doug wipes her cheek from the tears that have fallen she laughs
"Did we just get engaged on our first date?"Evie asked Doug chuckles
"Yeah I think we did.."Doug smiles
"Oh I made this for you.."Evie shows Doug that she made cufflinks for Doug.
"I made Cufflinks for you out of the emerald jades we found..it'll go great with your Dark green suit."Evie smiles
"Is that design of my dad on them?"Doug asked
"Yeah I wanted to make it special."Evie says Doug kisses her lips and smiles "This is amazing thank you..."Doug says
"I'm going to make you very happy I promise"Evie says holding Doug's face.
"We're in this together My Love..."Doug smiles
"Forever."Evie smiles and pulls him back into a kiss.
~1 years later at the Cemetery ~Doug places flowers on his father's Headstone "Hi Dad...just wanted to visit you see..Sorry I haven't been around much this past year has been crazy...Evie and I just got back from Paris and they loved her clothing line...We're thinking of retiring there in maybe 30 years...I miss you everyday...I wish you were here"Doug says Evie smiles as she wraps her arms around Doug's waist and kisses his cheek.
"Dad we wanna introduce you to someone.."Doug smiles and he picks up the Baby in the stroller he smiles down at the Baby who looks at the headstone and flowers curiously.
"Edward this is you grandpa Dopey...can you say hi?"Doug asked Edward squeals Doug Laughs
"This is your grandson Edward Dopey Miner."Evie smiles
"We figured the best way to honor you dad would be to make sure your legacy lives on not only with my but the next generation."Doug smiles Evie looks at the headstone and smiles
"Thank you for loving Doug the way you did Dopey...He's an amazing Father and Husband because of how you raised him...I'm truly lucky."Evie smiles Doug kisses her lips.
"Thank you for Sending Evie my way...Some how I feel like you had something to do with that."Doug chuckles Evie laughs and Edward squeals.
"So does Edward."Evie laughs Doug kisses her lips and they smile.
"Are you happy?"Doug asked
"Of Course..this is the happiest I've ever been...and I have a feeling it'll only get better."Evie smiles as she tickles her sons belly then kisses her Husband.
