"Was that more magical than footsteps?" Jack teased as he and a starry-eyed Sue walked out of the concert hall.
"Magical? Magical does not describe it, Jack! When I think of all the times I played music loudly and felt just the vibrations – I must have missed so much!"
"I'm afraid that you have, but you have the rest of your life to make up for it," Agent Hudson confirmed, leading her to the car. "I am glad you liked it. For the first few minutes I worried that you would be overwhelmed by the full orchestra."
"I thought so too, but it was so beautiful that I did not care after awhile."
They got in, and Jack turned on the engine. He recalled how strange it was, to be able to sit in the darkness with Sue and to be able to communicate with her. In days of old, he would have to turn on the interior lights so that she could read his lips as he drove.
"Darling," he began. "Have you thought about how you want to break this news to your parents and friends? If you can work without earplugs and can attend concerts, people are going to notice soon enough. I'm amazed that Lucy has not discovered our great secret yet."
"I'm very careful whenever anyone else is around," Sue admitted. "I have thought of a way, but I am afraid that people are going to worry that we have lost our minds for awhile."
Jack laughed.
"It sounds like a good plan. Speak on!"
