Immolation
Chapter 1
Author Notes: Summer may be here but there is no such thing as a vacation when it comes to me writing. (Yes I'm well aware that it is now fall time with the chilly weather but shhh! This was supposed to be uploaded at least a month or two ago!)
And here I am with a series that I haven't heard from in years. But it was my favorite of the bunch and I'm inspired by some very good amvs lol. Though...to be fair this is a second attempt at writing.
The last draft wasn't going the way I wanted despite getting so far into finishing it. So here's to hoping it works out this time around. I do not own but love from the bottom of my heart Digimon.
3rd P.O.V
This wasn't how it was supposed to go. "Take this- Thunder Fist!" They were the good guys and the good guys always won. At least, that's how it was in the fantasy stories Takuya used to read to his little brother when they were younger. As a little kid Takuya always loved reading things like fairy tales.
No matter the book he always knew villains got the punishment they deserved for committing bad deeds. While the hero got the praise and recognition for doing the right thing. "You do better then that~" He had always admired the knights and warriors that fought for honor and justice. Wanting to be just like them.
However this was no fantasy story. There were heroes and villains for sure and with what he's seen since arriving via trailmon could be considered the plot to a fictional tale. But this was real, the injuries he was receiving from the creatures known as digimon were one-hundred percent real.
His stories never told of the warriors of good and justice going through extreme fatigue and pain after each battle. It never went into details about how battles weren't simple. Let alone that there was no guarantee of victory and casualties were always a possibility.
"Ah!" Takuya was unfortunately experiencing it firsthand as he watched his friends fall one by one against their latest threat. Grumblemon was waling on his companions left and right, his powers far outmatching them. This wasn't their first round with the wicked minion, but this was their most difficult battle yet.
Koji was doing the best out of them all because he had obtained his new beast spirit. But even with him, Takuya and JP ganging up on the earth gremlin, they were loosing, taking way too many hits. It was only a matter of time before one of them collapsed, risking the loss of their own spirits.
Tommy and Zoe already suffered losing their own spirits, forced to watch helplessly as their companions struggled for survival. They were forced to keep running, trying to stay out of the danger while cheering their friends on. Bokumon and Neemon were frantic, feeling just as useless.
"JP move!" Beetlemon was suddenly flung onto the ground, skidding painfully as he fell unconscious, too exhausted to continue. His fractal code circling around him not even a second later, ready for the taking. "Mmm~ Me take spirit now~"
Oh hell no, not on Agunimon's watch. "Back off!" As a legendary digimon he had the power to control and use fire. An element that matched his personality perfectly, reflecting his temper and utter passion at stopping Grumblemon.
Despite the pain he was in, Takuya leaped, throwing an unexpected roundhouse kick his way. It was a direct hit to his face. Though the attack didn't damage the corrupt legendary warrior all that much, it did push him back several feet.
Giving JP enough time needed to dedigivolve with his spirit still with him. "Not today Grumblemon!" The bastard wasn't taking anymore spirits, not on his watch. "Zoe, Tommy get JP out of here!" If anything Takuya was determined to get the stolen ones back.
"Look out Takuya!" Koji's warning came too little too late. Not only did Grumblemon quickly recover from the attack, but now he was angry. Tackling the warrior of flame. "Arg!" The two tumbles along the forest ground, with Agunimon being thrown into the air.
It only happened just to get slammed back to the ground thanks to Grumblemon's hammer. "Ugh..." KendoGarurumon snarled as he sped forward, intending to slash the earth digimon to shreds. His newly beast instincts were screaming to destroy the enemy before him.
Claws, teeth, it didn't matter how so long as he did! But he stumbled, still not used to his new form and completely missed his desired target. "Ohh warrior of light want to play. Two can play at game. Grumblemon digivolve to..."
By the time Takuya got up, wincing at the agony he was in, it was too late for him to do anything. "...Gigasmon!" Koji tried again, circling around, his blades extended in order to slash, but he was easily caught. Cherubimon's warrior punching him into the ground.
"AHH!" His body embedded into the land, going several inches in. "Ooohh Now me get two spirits for price of one!" Groaning, the wolf of light tried rising, doing his utmost to not pass out as Gigasmon raised his fist. "S-stay away!" But it was no use, he was too weak, digivolving back into his human form.
Fractal code swirling above the raven haired teen. "Koji!" Like his friend, Agunimon was absolutely fatigued, the aches from the hits he was taking becoming too much to bear. He knew...at the rate things were going, he wasn't going to last.
Still he couldn't afford to stop. He would NOT submit. "Oh no you don't!" He stood, intending to stop the enemy with all he had. With a growl he smashed his fists together, mustering all the power he could find. "Grrr pyro tornado!"
Once more he landed a direct strike, however the attack was much weaker then his previous. "You stop getting in way!" Though he was engulfed in the raging inferno, it practically did nothing to him. He felt a little heat, that was it.
"You try hurting me? Me no think so!" It was then Takuya grinned. Many of his friends back in the human world considered him stupid. Not the brightest crayon in the box and often times his companions here, Koji and Zoe especially tended to have similar thoughts on him.
But there was more to him then brute strength and a hot temper. He Does have a brain, he intended to use it especially now with the situation so dire. Just as the big oaf went to strike, he dived, reaching for his ally who remained unburned despite the flames. "What!?"
As soon as he got ahold of his fellow digidestined, Takuya leaped. He was well aware that his attacks wouldn't do much to the irritating troll. By taking advantage of his flames surrounding his opponent, Takuya left the tornado of fire, running as far as possible to create distance between him and Gigasmon.
"Come back!" Before the evil digimon even realized what just happened, the digivolved human was already making good headway. The earth elemental still had to fight off the flames that were blinding his vision which gave the pair more time to escape.
Still he wasn't worried about letting his prey get away. "You can't run forever. Me find you eventually!" And he would, no matter what it took those spirits were going to be his.
to be continued
Author Notes: Ok so already I'm liking this one a lot better despite the chapter amount being so short in comparison. Though it wasn't emphasized in the starting author notes, this isn't really following the canon faithfully, but rather this has my own tweak to it.
But before anyone started questioning or complaining about it not being an accurate portrayal i just wanted it known it was indeed done on purpose. But that is it for now my good friends. Thank you all for reading.
If you are liking my series so far, please feel free to show support by faving/following/reviewing as it would mean a crap ton to me. Next chapter we'll see if grumblemon catches up to our two wounded heroes. Tchao for now folks~
