Immolation
chapter 3
Author Notes: We are long due to get this little three-shot done! I'm glad the mini bug on fanfiction looks to be fixed, I was getting antsy waiting to put this bad boy up. Also before I forget thank you for the support guys!
I appreciate the reviews/favs/follows~ I had meant to mention it before but due to holiday madness I never got the chance to do it. Ahem...Let's get started my friends, I do not own Digimon.
3rd P.O.V
It's so cold.
The land around him was nothing but shades of black, white and gray. Trees were just a breath away from crumbling, smoke strongly wafted through the air, it...calmed him. Though anyone else would probably be horrified with the scene.
Time passed strangely. His mind was scrambled to bits and pieces as he tried opening his eyes. Wanting to return to reality instead of the darkness of his dreams. "Takuya!" Emphasis on tried. He just couldn't muster up the strength to do that. He was completely drained, sapped of all his energy.
And...for the first time since obtaining his spirit he felt cold. As Agunimon he went all out, using the rest of his strength to turn both Gigasmon and a good chunk of the forest into ash despite the heavy rain.
"Come on Takuya! Get up please!" There were voices, all familiar to him. He wanted to speak, to reassure them that he was alright, but lying to them would be cruel. There was no need to try and raise false hopes.
This wasn't right.
They wouldn't have believed him anyways. "Idiot! What were you thinking?!" He was trying to protect them. The retort was right on the tip of his tongue, now if he could just get himself to move he'd be just fine. "Bokumon isn't there something we can do?"
If he wasn't so tired he would of smacked the fumbling hands grabbing at his pained body. The most he could do was groan at the prodding. Everything hurt. Even breathing was becoming difficult. "I'm...afraid there's nothing we can do. These wounds-they're bad." Understatement of the century.
These wounds were far more than bad. But he was right-no amount of time or bandages could fix injuries akin to these. Hard, pointed stones impaled straight through various parts of his body. It didn't even count the injuries he had from before hand.
Had they gotten to him earlier...maybe they would've had a chance. But...he wasn't a digimon-not fully. He was human, too much blood had been seeping out of his wounds, there was also no doctor that could try to tend to him. "NO!" Takuya winced at the heartbreaking shouts of denial.
Where are his flames?
"Don't give up!" Easily able to imagine the expressions on each of his companions faces. "Please...Takuya?" He had to try-at the very least he needed to see them. Slowly but surely he cracked his tired eyes open. It started out as blurred images, just fuzzy blasts of moving colors.
It felt like an eternity before those meshed colors actually stabilized and formed into his group of friends. Immediately the warrior of fire regretted it, as the faces he was forced to see was worse then his imagination's version.
The first person he sees is Tommy. The boy was on his left, clutching onto his hand, teary eyes actually radiating hope at Takuya's efforts. "That's it! You're going to be ok." There was that naïve optimism he was known for, it made his mouth twitch into a small smile.
"Atta boy Takky!" JP wasn't looking much better then the younger. Even when standing a bit aways from him, the chubby boy's face was completely red from crying, though he tried wiping the evidence away with his sleeves. "Grazie a Dio." Zoe was on his right, caressing his hair.
Why did this have to happen?
Again he could feel nothing. Soon he wouldn't be able to do anything. No matter how hard they prayed or tried, there was no miracle to be found here. "There's not much time..." Both he-and Koji knew it. The pained expression on the ravenette was proof enough.
No sense of denial to be found, only heart wrenching sadness...and acceptance. "What are you talking about!?" And that was why he needed to do this. "Koji. Take my D-tector. In it should be my spirit and Grumblemons." That was at least one good piece of news, he took down one of the corrupt digiminions.
Even if it was at the cost of his life. "No-I won't!" Koji was shaking his head, refusing. For once could his stubborn friend just listen to him? "Take...it. Use it." His breathing was coming in hard puffs, oxygen was struggling to enter his lungs.
"I said no Takuya-don't make me!" The pyro user wasn't going to give him a damn choice in the matter. "I can-I will. It has to be You." His eyes widened as he coughed, hacking and stuttering to get air. Blood spilling from within onto his palms.
Truly giving the group of children a reality check. He is Dying. And though their current danger was gone...it was not the end. "Don't make this a fight Koji. Not now-you need to lead them. Take my place."
The warrior of light broke down at this point, the strong blank expression he was trying to wear crumbled. "I-Takuya you can't!" Anguish flowed freely-even more so when the brunette tried to relinquish his goggles. It was painful to watch as his hands shook, trying to pull them over his head.
Tommy and Zoe realized what he wanted, aiding him so that the brunette could hold out his prized possession towards his chosen successor. Like passing the torch, they found themselves reluctantly in the bandanna wearing boys' death grip along with his D-tector. "Thank you."
They would serve as a physical reminder of his new burdens and responsibilities as well as their friendship. "You'll do far better then I ever did." Bokumon and Neemon stood behind the human children, though Takuya could see them bow in his honor.
"Bokumon, they're going to need your guidance now more than ever." The white digimon was trembling, doing his utmost not to breakdown. Although it was hard with Neemon bawling his eye slits out on his left.
Two mini waterfalls spurting, drenching his fur as the taller of the two grabs onto him. "Of course!" Takuya's smile grew just a tad bit bigger, relieved. He knew they would be in good hands. "G-good." It was all he could ask of the intellectual digimon. If nothing else then to prevent any more tragedies.
No one wanted him to go!
His breath stuttered as he closed his eyes, feeling so tired. "I'll be seeing you-one day. But for now...this is goodbye." He said all he had to say, with the exception of the typical not wanting to leave his friends and family like this...he really didn't have any regrets. "Don't close your eyes!"
Out of all the ways to go-this was probably the best for him. "No-you can't leave us like this!" He went out fighting, protecting his allies and actually took down an enemy far stronger then him. He was even able to say what he wanted to. "Takuya!" Now...now he could rest.
The end
Author Notes: ...so I killed off Takuya? And I actually went through with it!? Yikes what kind of depression did I stumble into? Lol I was contemplating him waking back up in the human world but the sadness and tragedy raged on.
Besides I have a new digi story potentially coming up, we'll see how dark we make it but you know how that goes. I have to say I for once managed to get a digi story up and super happy about it. My co-author and i had thought about it for years, but after trying and failing, gave up.
I still probably won't be able to do a full on series based on the shows, but little snippets like this or aus...we'll see. For now though that's it. Guys thanks so much for reading, please feel free to fav/follow/review as it would mean a crap ton to me! Tchao for now!
