Chapter one: The journey's beginning

In the year 1991, 11-year-old Corvus Aquila wanders aimlessly through London's hustle and bustle with a strange letter in his hand. He puts the letter in his bag, thinking it was complete rubbish when he spots an out of place building, the building looks small and welcoming. It has a few rooms above it and has a sign that seems to be a leaking cauldron hanging from the outside, so this is where he is supposed to go.

Corvus walks in to see a dark and shabby place, with a bar and a number of tables in the shadows of the corners. He takes a seat at a table and asks the bartender, "Can I have some tea, please?"

"that'll be four sickles, kid." the bartender replies.

"What are sickles, sir? " asked Corvus, confused about the weird currency.

The bartender walks off and talks to a stern-looking woman for a few seconds, and when they finished speaking, they both came back. "Hello, I am Minerva McGonagall, and I am a teacher from a school of gifted individuals. May I ask where your parents are?" Asks the stern lady.

"I don't have parents, ma'am. They died when I was very young." Answered Corvus.

McGonagall then turns around, speaks to the barman in hushed tones, turns back to Corvus, and says, "if I may ask, what is your name?"

"Corvus, ma'am. Corvus Aquila," He wearily answered.

"Well then, Corvus, follow me," said McGonagall as she turns to leave from the back exit, Corvus quickly gets up and asks, "Where are we going?" McGonagall answered by tapping bricks on a wall and replying, "Diagon Ally."

As they walk through the ally, Corvus looks around to see many strange shops from an apothecary to joke shops and even an ice cream shop, but the building that catches his eye the most was the very large bank towered over the other shops directly in front of him. It was white as snow, made of marble, and had "Gringotts bank" etched into the marble above the bronze front doors. As they pass through the doors, a set of silver doors are in front of them with a warning against thieves inscribed into them. As the doors open, Corvus sees many creatures behind the counter talking to people and taking them to doors behind them.

McGonagall walks up to a counter, and the creature, which she told me was a goblin, asked "name?" McGonagall answered by saying, "Corvus Aquila" he then asks "do you have a key" to which McGonagall turns to Corvus and asks the same thing, he replies with "do I need one?" The goblin quickly told her to wait there and walked into the back. A few minutes later, he returned with a much more important looking goblin who introduced himself as an inheritance tester asked Corvus and McGonagall to follow him. They reached a tram-like object on a pair of tracks, and the goblin tells us to get on. Immediately after they get on, they start moving and speeding up.

After a while of wanting to throw up, they reached a dimly lit room that contained a desk, a stone with complicated etchings, a knife, and a piece of paper. The goblin asked Corvus to cut his hand with the knife and bleed on the stone. Corvus cut his hand, which instantly healed, dropping no blood. The goblin looked surprised and walked over to a wall, waving his hand over it. " We prepared for people like you" he then walked back handing a different knife to Corvus. Corvus again cut his hand this time the wound stayed open long enough to trickle blood on the stone. The stone glowed bright golden. The goblin then picked up the stone and placed it on the piece of paper. When the stone touched the paper, the golden glow leaked out of the bottom of the rock, slowly creating a family tree, after the tree was formed, the golden writing turned black. On the people of the tree, you could see their name, date of birth, their blood purity, and their list of abilities. The goblin quickly rolled up the piece of paper, gave Corvus a small key, the part of the paper, and told him to ask a high ranking goblin by the name of Barchoke to escort him to his vault.

McGonagall and Corvus take the nauseating tram back up to the reception desk and try to find the goblin known as Barchoke. Barchoke was near the end of the desks, and his title was 'senior account manager.' They walk up to him, and almost immediately, he asks, "Name?" Again McGonagall replies with "Corvus Aquila." Barchoke asks for his key to which McGonagall provides the small golden key. Finally, he asks for proof of identification to which she gives him the piece of paper. Barchoke opened it up, closed it again, and started leading them to another tram.

This time the journey lasted much longer, and in the end, Corvus had to sit down for a full 5 minutes. While he rested, Barchoke walks to a bucket and picks up 3 of the things inside and hands them to both Corvus and McGonagall.

After Corvus finished up resting, they started walking again, and after they turned a corner, Corvus instantly jumped at the sight of a huge Dragon before him. At the sight of the Dragon, Barchoke swung the thing from the bucket repeatedly, and it made a loud clanging sound, Corvus and McGonagall quickly follow the goblin while shaking their own clankers.

As soon as they passed the Dragon, they put the clankers back into a bucket and walk to a vault door, The plaque on the door said 'vault 74 - the Aquila trust vault'. Barchoke placed his hand on the door and asked Corvus to do the same it melted away, revealing a keyhole in which the key was slotted in and turned. As the vault opened, all you could see a mountain of small golden coins, Barchoke then stated, "Aquila family trust vault, 100,000 galleons, 20,000 sickles, and 12 knuts."

"Wow," Corvus stated as he opened his bag and started putting some of the gold and silver coins inside of it.

After he finished getting some money, he, McGonagall and Barchoke went back to the reception desk and saw a strange sight, a large man with a small boy no older than Corvus walking through the central line trying to find Barchoke. Suddenly the large man walks over and starts speaking to McGonagall and says "Nice to see you McGonagall" and

She replies by saying, "good to see you Hagrid, May I ask what you are in here for?"

Hagrid replied by pointing to the boy next to him and saying, "taking Harry here to get his money for his supplies, and you?"

McGonagall then points to Corvus and says, "the same as you, taking a boy to get supplies."

Hagrid then whispers, "did you get the thing?"

McGonagall got angry and started whispering back, "of course not that's your job! and why are you speaking about that here where anyone can be listening in?!"

As she was angrily whispering at Hagrid, Corvus walked up to the boy called Harry and started talking by asking, "Hey, what is your name?"

The skinny boy replied by saying, "Harry, Harry Potter and you?"

Then Corvus said while shaking his hand, "Corvus, Corvus Aquila, nice to meet you." Corvus let go of Harry's hand and says, "don't you think this place is so cool?!"

Harry enthusiastically replies, "yes! Yes it is, have you seen the stores outside there are loads of cool stuff like brooms and cauldrons and an emporium! What is your favorite place you have seen so far?"

Corvus thinks for a minute and says, "I personally like the look of that joke shop, Zonkos. I think it was called."

Just then, McGonagall appeared and said, "Come on Corvus. It is time to go," so after a quick goodbye, Corvus and McGonagall walk out of the bank, leaving Harry and Hagrid to speak to the goblins.

Out in the ally, McGonagall says, "First we shall get you a trunk, second we will get some robes, then we will get your books and potions equipment after we shall get your familiar and finally we will get your wand.

They get into the trunk store and decide to get a weightless, expanded trunk. Next, they got his robes from Madam Malkins. When they exited the shop, they saw a snobby, stuck up, posh boy about to enter complaining about all of the shops and speaking about ways that would "improve" them. McGonagall and Corvus then go separate ways; McGonagall went to the apothecary, and Corvus went to the book store. After they had both done their respective shopping, they met up outside Olivanders, the wand shop. They both walk inside the shop and ring the bell when they see a creepy old man climbing down a ladder mumbling to himself. He comes towards the counter and says, "ahh McGonagall 9½ inches long, made of fir wood with a Dragon heartstring core, is it working well?"

"Yes, Olivander, it is. I am here with a student," she replied.

"Come here, then boy, which is your wand arm?" Olivander says, looking at Corvus.

Corvus walks forward and says, "I'm right-handed, sir, but is there any way I can custom make mine?"

"Yes, there is, but it will cost more," answers Olivander.

"Money isn't a problem, so let's get to it," says Corvus. He gets taken to a room with many different materials and gets asked to run his hand over blocks of wood. He chooses two being yew and ebony. He then gets taken to a table of different feathers, hairs, and other various things. Corvus runs his hand over them and finds two that call out to him, a thestral hair and a thunderbird tail feather. Finally, Olivander asks a few questions and says it will take him 3 hours to make it and come back then.

McGonagall and Corvus leave the shop to make their last stop to get a pet. After a while, Corvus chooses an owl that is bright red in colour, and they leave with their new pet, which they name Crimson. They then go to get dinner, which for Corvus was curry and rice with a milkshake followed by ice cream.

After the three hours were up, McGonagall and Corvus go back to the wandmaker and get the beautifully crafted wand, Olivander says is "yew and ebony, thunderbird tail feather and thestral hair, 11 1/2 inches and quite springy". Corvus looks at the beautiful carvings and says to himself, "I promise to treat you well," he then pays 14 galleons for the masterpiece of a wand he held.

McGonagall and Corvus then go back to the leaky cauldron, where McGonagall asks Corvus, "Where do you live?"

"I'm homeless, ma'am," he replies.

"Well, that won't do. did you know this place is not just a bar, it is an inn as well?" She asks.

"No, ma'am, I didn't," he answers truthfully.

"Talk to Tom, the bartender, and he'll be happy to rent a room to you," she said.

"Ok, it was nice going shopping with you today. Thank you," he said to McGonagall. He then walked to the barman and rented out a room up until September 1st.
