Chapter Two Hogwarts
For the final month of the time, before he went to his new school, Corvus read through his textbooks, memorising them with his photographic memory. The rest of the time he likes to talk with his pet owl, Crimson, as he seemed to understand what Corvus was saying and responded by hooting, clicking or playfully biting Corvus. Corvus also enjoyed exploring Diagon Ally and frequently bought items from Zonko's joke shop such as dung bombs and sugar quills.
On the last day of the holiday, Tom, the bartender, explained to Corvus how to use the floo and that there is a linked up fireplace on platform 9 3/4. Corvus then uses the floo multiple times, going between two places, to get used to the feeling. Corvus spent the rest of the day packing all of his things into his suitcase so that he knew where everything was and could access them easily.
The day the train left, Corvus woke up early, had breakfast, paid Tom the final time and left for the train. As Corvus walked out of the fireplace at platform 9 3/4, he gets asked for his ticket by a man. Corvus provides the ticket and is let through, as he turns a corner he sees a scarlet steak engine next to a platform packed with people, he quickly spots Harry and walks up to him. They quickly began talking about the holidays and general life when Corvus looks at the clock, grabs Harry and says "we should get going".
As they walk through the train, they find an empty compartment and go inside and start chatting about things they like, after a while, the trolley lady walks past. Harry buys a few of everything so that he could try new things, Corvus' favourite was the chocolate frogs because he liked the cards inside about famous wizards and witches. Later on, they see a frog and pick it up as someone could step on it, and it seemed to be somebody's pet. Further in the trip a girl comes round looking for the toad they picked up and introduces herself as Hermione Granger.
When the train was nearly there, they got changed and waited for it to stop, when it did they got off and saw Hagrid who told all of the first years to follow him. After a short walk, they come across boats to which Hagrid shouts "No more than four to a boat!" After everyone got into a boat, they glided across the surface of the water towards the largest castle Corvus had ever seen.
The boat dock and they walk inside to find McGonagall waiting for them, she leads them to a room of to the side of a room filled with the sounds of chatter and welcomes the first years to Hogwarts. They then order themselves alphabetically and walk into the great hall. At the front of the hall was a stool with a hat. McGonagall then walked up to the side of the hat, unfurled a piece of parchment and calls out "Hannah Abbott". A girl walks forward, sits on the stool and places the hat on her head. After a few seconds, the hat shouts "Hufflepuff!"
McGonagall then calls out "Corvus Aquila." Then, all of a sudden, everybody feels a wave of fear wash over them as Corvus starts walking towards the stool. He sits down, puts the trembling hat on and waits for its decision. After a few milliseconds the hat screams out "SLYTHERIN" he walks over to the Slytherin table and sits down without anybody making a noise. Corvus then waives his hand in a 'carry on' motion, and the next name is called. The only other exciting thing that happened was when Harry also got sorted into Gryffindor, the Gryffindors cheered saying "We've got potter" but then fell quiet after the next name was called out.
After the feast, and some words of warning about the third floor and the Forbidden Forrest. The students gathered into their respective houses. Harry then moved to the Gryffindors and went to their common rooms. As soon as Corvus enters the common room, a sixth-year boy shouts "oh look who it is Mr Corvus Aquila, what are you doing here, mudblood?"
"This is my common room too, y'know." Corvus replies, staring him directly in the eyes.
The boy then draws his wand, says " I'm not scared of you, you're just a first-year!" Corvus walks up to him and promptly kicks the sixth year through a wall. "Anyone else want to try that?" All of the students year two and above pull out their wands at the same time a greasy-haired, stern-looking man walks in. The students fire at Corvus who turns to look at the teacher, one eye black and red, absorbs the spells, flicks his wand behind him and fires back all of the spells fired at him at the original casters. He then tells the man "Heal them now, if this happens again there won't be anybody to heal" and walks to his dorm to find a bed to fall in.
Corvus woke up the next day with four people next to his bed who seemed to have tried to attack him during the night. He walked into the common room to see that everyone in the room was scared of him, 'this is how it should be' he thinks to himself.
His first day was... Like any other first day, the teachers just introduced their courses and told the class about the particular branch of magic. Corvus' favourite class was transfiguration followed closely by the defence against the dark arts, but he didn't like the DADA teacher professor Quirrell, he felt something off about him. His least favourite class is the history of magic, like how boring can you make goblin rebellions.
When the potions class finished, Professor Snape asks Corvus to stay behind. Corvus walked to Snape's desk and sits on a chair.
"What is this about, sir?" Corvus innocently asks.
"Don't play coy with me, boy." Snape snaps back. " I am here to talk about last night".
"Ooh, right. I guess I do owe you an explanation" Corvus shifts in his chair and places his feet on the desk. "A sixth year insulted me, drew his wand and pointed the damned thing at me, so I, as a person who is known to do so, kicked him through a wall."
"What happened next?" Snape says removing Corvus' feet off of the table with a flick of his wand.
"Then the whole house just points their wands at me, and that's where you walked in" Corvus replies.
"I remember they all fired spells at you, you then swirled your wand over your head like you were trying to cause an explosion and somehow fired all of their spells back at them which should be impossible, especially for a first-year." He angrily finished.
"Ahh don't forget me threatening you and the entire house about what would happen if they tried again" Corvus happily states as if it were just a common thing.
"Yes, we mustn't forget that" Snape mutters under his breath. "Anyway, my question is, how did you do that?"
"A magician never reveals his secrets, and neither will you, ok?" Corvus asks, face darkening.
Snape quickly switches between being scared to having no emotions with an undertone of fear. "I cannot do that; I have other students to take care of."
Corvus looked disappointed but then smiled and said, "let the games begin!"
Snape sent Corvus out of the room to be in piece and thinks about what just happened. Snape came out of that conversation with more questions than answers.
After Snape had finished with Corvus, he made his way up to professor McGonagall's class. He opened the door, walked in and asked her if he could have extra lessons on weekends. She said yes but only on the condition that it does not disrupt his grades in other classes as well.
Corvus spent the next month in a routine of going to classes, doing homework and doing extra transfiguration with McGonagall when it was closing in on Halloween. The school put up decorations, peeves the poltergeist became more active with his pranks, and a party was soon coming. Corvus, in particular, enjoyed Halloween as it was one of the only times when he could safely be a bit more himself and not be called strange.
Halloween finally came, and so did the party. That is until Professor Quirrell ran into the hall shouting about a troll in the dungeon. The students then get told to go to their common rooms which Slytherin loudly complained as their common room was IN the dungeon which the troll supposedly inside of. Corvus looks at the Gryffindors to see that Harry and another boy were ducking out of the crowd.
Corvus follows the two boys to a bathroom where screams emanated from the room. He runs in to see a girl he recognised as Hermione hiding under a sink, Harry about to be grabbed by the troll and the other boy just standing there. Corvus runs in front of the troll, jumps up to the head and knocks it out with one punch. He grabs Harry from mid-air and lands without injuring anybody. Then the teachers run in the room and look upon the sight; Corvus holding harry, Hermione under a sink and the red-haired boy still just standing around with a shocked look on his face.
"What happened here?" McGonagall demanded.
"Well," said Corvus, "I just knocked out a troll so that three other children could live, but I guess you want more detail?"
"Yes," McGonagall curtly replied.
"Ok, so when Professor Quirrell shouted about the troll I saw Harry and that other boy running towards the dungeon; I naturally chase after them because I believed they were being stupid and wanted to try to take the troll by themselves." Corvus looks at the redhead and asks "what's your name, by the way?"
The boy replies with "Ron, Ron Weasley."
Corvus continues saying "Ok so I see them enter the bathroom and go after them when I get in all I see is Harry being dangled. Ron was just standing there and Hermione under a sink, so naturally, I run in front of the troll, use Wingardium Leviosa on the club and knock it out."
"Well done for that quick thinking and action Corvus, fifty points to Slytherin, now" she turns to Harry, Ron and Hermione "What are your stories?"
Harry responds with "we heard about the troll in the hall and thought about how Hermione was upset and didn't go to the party, After I told you this, we both ran here to warn her of the troll, but when we got here it had already started attacking her." Harry looks towards Hermione to check if she is ok and turns back to continue the story. "We called out to the troll to get its attention when it just picks me up. That's when Corvus entered and knocked the troll out with its club."
"Well it was very idiotic to go running off alone, but I admire your bravery, twenty-five points to both you and Ron but one-week detention as well for putting yourself at risk when there were teachers nearby willing to aid you." McGonagall turns around and says, "let's go to the hospital wing to see if there were any injuries."
Later that night, Corvus sneaks out of the common room and goes back towards the troll, he walked into the bathroom, strolled towards the beast and absorbs him. Corvus walks back to the common room, into the form and goes back to sleep.
