Chapter 5 School life

Disclaimer: I do not own the rights to Harry Potter or Tokyo Ghoul. However, I do own the rights to my own character and ideas.

Corvus spends the rest of his Christmas reading his newly bought books and the ones he got from McGonagall. After a few hours of deliberation, Corvus decides to start learning to feel the magic around and inside himself. After a while of this, Corvus can cast a few low-level spells, such as Lumos, Stupify and Expelliarmus, wandlessly. He decides to train those particular spells as they are useful for if he has neither of his wands.

When the time came around, he packed up his books and said his goodbyes to Tom. Corvus then used the floo to get to platform 9 3/4 where he saw many other children making their way to the train. He picked an empty carriage, sat down and opened his book to start reading. A few minutes later, a girl he remembered called Hermione Granger opens the door and asks "Do you mind if I sit here? everywhere else is full."

Corvus puts down his book, gestures to her to come in and says "Hermione, right? I see you walking around with Harry quite often."

"Yes, I'm Hermione. How do you know Harry?" She asked whilst putting her luggage on the rack above their heads.

"We met at Diagon Ally and became friends on the train to Hogwarts." Corvus answers. "From what I know, you are quite smart. You spend a lot of time in the library, and you try to answer every question in class. No insult to you, of course."

"Thank you," Hermione replies. "I enjoy school quite a lot. It is fascinating to find out that you are capable of doing things that break the laws of physics on a regular basis." Hermione spurts out at lightning speed. "I've also heard about you," She continues. " Your name is Corvus Aquila, you are known as the king of Slytherin, you take more advanced classes on the weekend with Professor McGonagall, and you are top in the year even though no-one sees you study, do homework or even read a book more than once."

"Wow, you really know a lot about me. It's kind of creepy but in an endearing way. Well, I guess you got to know your competition" Corvus says whilst twirling his wand between his fingers. "Well, I guess I can tell you. I have something called photographic memory. I can remember everything that has ever happened to me in perfect detail. It means I only ever have to read a book once before memorising it. It also means that the homework I send in is entirely accurate. I don't have to worry about the information being wrong." Corvus explains calmly.

As Corvus is explaining, Hermione looks more and more defeated with the realisation that she has no chance against a person that remembers everything. She at least, has to study. She finally says "I'm lost for words, is that why you are the best in our year?"

"Well, academically, yes. Magically, it can definitely be disputed as I am not the most magically powerful. I prefer to be quite physically strong and have high stamina." Corvus once again explains, trying to give her some form of hope so that she doesn't give up.

"Then I will try to be first in the end of year exams. I hope you don't mind losing," Hermione says with fire in her voice.

"I will try my hardest and put you in second" Corvus promises to Hermione. They spent the rest of the time talking about and which classes they like and so on.

-The Unknown Player-

Corvus walks with Hermione into the great hall where they split off. Hermione went to the Gryffindor table, and Corvus went to the Slytherin one. When he got there, he heard Draco say "look, he's just not that good. He even converses with mudbloods." Corvus walks up behind him, clears his throat and asks, "And who is it that you are talking about?"

Draco quickly spins around, looks up at Corvus and says with fear in his voice "Corvus, How are you?"

"Don't avoid my question Draco, Who were you talking about?" Corvus says darkly.

Draco thinks for a second and says "That Potter Boy and his mudblood bitch, nothing to worry about."

"That Potter boy and his mudblood bitch. Did I hear you correctly?" Corvus says, anger rising.

"Yes, now get lost" Draco replies. Corvus picks Draco up by his platinum-blonde hair and throws him against the floor. The teachers run over to stop him when Corvus commands "repeat what you just said to the teachers."

Draco looks up to Corvus and says with pure rage in his eyes "I said that Potter isn't as good as people say especially since he is hanging around with that mudblood bitch."

Corvus then picks Draco up again, turns around to face the rest of the hall and declares "This is what will happen to those who are bigoted, discriminatory and downright rude to people they know nothing about in my presence." Corvus then takes Draco's wand and crushes it with one hand whilst forcing him to watch. Corvus then throws Draco across the hall and through the doors, Draco hits the floor, bounces and then crashes into a closed-door, leaving Draco to be picked up by two teachers and taken to the hospital ward.

Corvus silently sits down and starts to eat when professor Snape picks Corvus up off of the bench and drags him to the Headmaster's office. Snape says the password, which was "cotton candy", and barges in through the door.

"I WANT HIM EXPELLED" Snape shouts at Dumbledore.

"Yes, I just got word from McGonagall that an incident involving Corvus had happened, Corvus, would you mind explaining?" Dumbledore asks Corvus calmly ", and no shouting, please." He quickly added when seeing Corvus' face.

Corvus takes a second to calm down and talk calmly "Well sir, I walked into the great hall with miss Granger whom I've become friends with recently. We went to our separate tables when I hear Draco Malfoy talking in hushed whispers about who I assumed to be Hermione. To make sure I wasn't jumping to conclusions, I ask him who he is talking about to which he replied forgive my language sir "That Potter boy and his mudblood bitch." I obviously wanted to make sure I heard him correctly, so I asked him again. He once again said the same sentence, and when I was sure, that's what he said I picked him up and then dropped him on the floor. I was teachers coming over, so I asked him to repeat his sentence to the teachers, which he did, expecting no punishment. I then picked him up, made a speech, crushed his wand and threw Draco."

"Don't you think that was a bit of an overreaction?" Dumbledore asked with a sullen look on his face.

"No sir, he continually insulted my friends to my face using slurs the whole time without remorse," Corvus replies, looking furious.

"Well as unfortunately for us slurs like that are common in the magical world. I know you don't like it, but you will most likely hear those slurs again." Dumbledore says.

"Back to the issue at hand." Snaps growls. "What will be his punishment for attacking another student and almost killing them?"

"Well, I believe as this is the first time that this has happened we should not expel him." Dumbledore starts. Snape starts to look visibly angry at this and Dumbledore realises. "However as this is a behaviour we do not want to encourage you will be having detention with professor McGonagall every night for the next month and have 100 points taken off for violence against a fellow student."

"Might I ask why you decided to have him serve his detentions with professor McGonagall and not me or Filch?" Snape asks.

"Quite simple. Whilst I do believe you to be good at magical defence, I do believe he would not hesitate to do to you as he did to Mr Malfoy if you pushed him too far. As for our caretaker, I think the same applies. I chose professor McGonagall as Corvus has taken a liking to her and would not attack her at any point." Dumbledore explains.

"So you are making Corvus happy with his punishment so that he does not attack anyone else. Do you see the problem with that?!" Snape argues.

"Of course, this will not be a light punishment. Corvus has done a terrible thing to his classmate. But for the sake of this not happening again, we will hand him to a professor he respects." Dumbledore explains, once more.

"For him to learn his lesson, shouldn't he be with a staff member he doesn't like and be forced no to attack or even more detentions will be given." Snape counters.

"That would be true for other students. Corvus is an exception as he is obviously incredibly fast and strong. This is for your protection Severus, why can you not accept that" Dumbledore says with a tone of finality in his voice.

"Yes, sir." Professor Snape says dejectedly. "I Will send him to Professor McGonagall now."

"Good, good. Can you go to madam Pomfey on the way back and tell her to send Draco down when he has been healed. We cannot allow his behaviour to go on any longer, either. It's such a shame to see out students behaving like that." Dumbledore says whilst waiving them out.

-The Unknown Player-

After a silent walk to Professor McGonagall's office, Corvus knocks on the door and waits.

"Come in," says professor McGonagall. Corvus opens the door, walks in and takes a seat on the opposite side of the desk to her.

"Headmaster Dumbledore said that I am to have detention with you for next month miss," Corvus says meekly.

"And rightly so, what you did was incredibly dangerous. When you threw him he was fortunate not to land on his head, Mr Malfoy is currently in the hospital ward with both of his arms and legs broken and bent on impossible ways. The state that he is in allows for no movement for the next month, and he will have to get a new wand because you crushed his." McGonagall yells at Corvus.

Corvus sits there and looks up at the professor, staying silent. McGonagall calms down and says "Now I'm not saying that you are entirely at fault here Corvus, what Mr Malfoy said was absolutely horrible, but that is not an appropriate reaction. You should have just let me or one of the other teachers deal with it. Next time he says anything like that, instead of attacking him, I want you to come and tell me what happened and we can deal with it. Ok?"

"Yes ma'am, I will tell you if I hear anything like that again and will not attack the person who said it," Corvus says, showing that he understood the message of what she just said.

"Ok, I'm glad that you understand why you are in detention. Now let's start working on your transfiguration work. Have you read the books I sent for Christmas?" McGonagall asks, changing the subject.

"Yes ma'am, all the way through. Can I try some of the spells now?" Corvus asked excitedly.

"You can try, but these are higher level spells, and so you might not get them, first try," McGonagall answers with a bit of a smile on her face. The two spent the rest of the detention trying new spells and improving Corvus' wandwork.

-The Unknown Player-

Dumbledore paces around his office lost in thought. He takes out the memory of the argument that just happened and re-watches it this time focusing on Corvus. He sees that not only did the boy posses two wands concealed by charms on the holsters. He also wore two rings. One of the rings had a thunderbird on it, and the other ring had the design of a lightning bolt seemingly inside on the crystal of the ring. He looks closer at the second wand Corvus possessed and saw that it was glowing very slightly with the colours blue and red.

Dumbledore exits the memory and goes down to the library to search for something. He picks a few books about different types of rings. He also picked up a book about ancient family lines, pureblood or not. He puts the books down on the table and starts to read. He recognises the first ring as to belonging to the ancient house of Aquila which was long thought to be dead. "I will have to ask him about his heritage next time I see him," Dumbledore says to himself. Dumbledore searches through all of the books he has and didn't see a mention of the second ring Corvus had on. Dumbledore then went to the wandlore section of books and took all of the books that mention different types of materials used in wandmaking. After hours of reading, Dumbledore stumbles upon the passage that states "A wand that is to be seen as glowing is a wand that has been infused with a crystal to give it more power for the magic its owner is attuned to. An example would be Rubies which represent fire, raw power and burning determination. It is a stone for battle." He read further but could not find the other gemstone used in Corvus' wand.

He starts walking back to his office with the book and starts talking to himself. He says to no-one in particular "the boy possess great power but also outstanding morals, he only uses his strength to defend the people he cares about and to harm those who do wrong. He reminds me of me, in a way. None of this explains how he has such great physical strength, though, nor how he obtained a ring that I cannot find. I must ask Minerva what she knows about the boy."

-The Unknown Player-

The next few days were full of rumours, no-one talked to Corvus, and he spent most of the time either in class or in the library. One day whilst he was in the library, he was given a note saying to go to the Headmaster's office. He walked up to the gargoyle and said the password. When he entered through the door he saw; the Headmaster, Professor McGonagall and a platinum-blonde haired man with a cane wearing a black robe and a face that looked evil.

"Take a seat," said Dumbledore as Corvus is entering. Corvus obliges and sits down. "Mr Aquila, this is the father of Mr Malfoy." Corvus smiles and says " Nice to meet you, sir" as he held his hand out to offer a handshake. Lucius waives his had and denies the offer whilst saying "I presume you know why I am here" with a scowl on his face. Corvus replies with a smile on his fave "Yes sir, it's because I used your son as an example as what happens to those that insult my friends." At this Lucius pulls out his wand and points of at Corvus. Corvus holds up his hand to the teachers and says to Lucius "Is that a threat? Go on then, hit me with any spell you want. It is what I deserve, right?" Corvus holds his arms out, making his torso exposed. Lucius, furious at this point shouts "BOMBARDA" straight at Corvus.

The spell hits Corvus directly in the chest, causing a small explosion and filling the room with dust. The dust clears, and everyone is shocked to see Corvus still standing there laughing, "Is that all? a little explosion? You're a wizard, and that is all you can do? Pathetic. Lucky for me, I have two witnesses to you attempting to murder a child. There is no way you can buy your way out of this one." Corvus continues to laugh whilst Lucius is then stunned by both the Headmaster and Professor McGonagall.

After a short floo call with the Aurors, Dumbledore begins to speak. "How did you survive that blast, you didn't even have your wand in your hand?"

"Well, I thought a day would come where I wouldn't get the chance to pull out my wand and so I started practising wandless and silent casting in hopes I could stay alive long enough to draw my wand. Before I came back from the holidays, I could only do a couple of weak spells like Expelliarmus, Stupify and Lumos but know I can do a weak Protego both wandlessly and non-verbally."

"How did you get access to spells above your year group? those are higher-level spells." Dumbledore asks, trying to find cracks in his logic.

"Well, I found the books on wandless and silent casting in the bookstore in Diagon Ally, as for the spells themselves I received books for Christmas containing those spells" Corvus explained to Dumbledore respectfully.

"I have a few more questions who gave you those books? Why do you have a second wand? and just what is that ring on your hand?" Dumbledore asks, slowly breaking the outer shell of a kind old man.

McGonagall interrupts and says "I gave him the books for Christmas, but as for the other questions I believe you do not need to know. Would you ask anyone else these questions, Albus?"

"Minerva, I am just worried about how much power this young boy has, he is 11 and already know silent and wandless casting. He has two wands, and the ring he has on looks dangerous" Dumbledore pleads with McGonagall.

Corvus interrupts and says "Well if you want to know, I'll tell you. My second wand is there in case anyone takes my first. I'm actually quite impressed you can see it. This ring is an item I am trying to use to learn control, and I am just trying to keep myself safe in situations where I have very little time to defend myself."

A knock on the door interrupts them, Dumbledore says "Come in", and a woman with a square-jaw and close-cropped grey hair wearing a monocle came through the door.

"Ahhh Miss Bones, how are you?" Dumbledore greets with his usual enthusiasm.

"Skip the niceties and get straight to the point Dumbledore, why is a powerful politician tied to a chair unconscious?" She says firmly and with a tone of annoyance.

"Well Mr Malfoy here tried to use the Bombarda curse on this boy," he says whilst pointing at Corvus.

"Does this boy have a name and do you have evidence? this boy seems quite alive and uninjured to me" she state looking at Corvus

"My name is Corvus Aquila ma'am, I am in the first year, and this whole thing is my fault, I can give you the memory, and we can watch it on Dumbledore's Pensieve," Corvus responds respectfully.

"Memory evidence will work fine, Mr Aquila. Dumbledore, do we have permission to use your Pensieve?" She asks, expecting the answer.

"Yes, certainly. It's all yours." Dumbledore replies quickly.

Corvus takes out the memory and puts it into the pensive. Corvus, Dumbledore, McGonagall and Miss Bones all went into the memory of what happened and watched it from start to finish, including the incident with Draco. When they came out, Miss Bones said "That was a very irresponsible thing to do, you were lucky you were not hurt. Who cast the Protego in front of the boy? I can tell you now. It was very impressive."

Dumbledore responds quickly saying "Corvus did Miss Bones, and we agree it is very impressive but also irresponsible."

"Corvus did that? I hope he considers a path in the Auror department we need more people like him. wandless and silent casting at age 11 that is unheard of." She continues to rant about the implications of such a thing when Dumbledore says "Can we get back on track, what is going to happen to Mr Malfoy?"

She stops ranting, clears her throat and says "I will have to take him to a temporary holding cell, and we will set a court date for his attempted murder trial." She turns to Corvus and says "Can we use this memory as evidence against Mr Malfoy?"

Corvus responds with "yes, but as long as I have immunity to past crimes as what I did was most likely illegal."

"You make a fair argument. I will agree to these terms as we are putting a criminal who has previously been accused but has used the imperious curse as a reason. This evidence will allow us to put him in Azkaban for his crimes." She explains.

"Deal. So am I allowed to leave or do you want me to stay Headmaster?" Corvus asks, looking into Dumbledore's eyes. Corvus feels pressure on his mental barriers as Dumbledore tries to read his mind. Corvus reinforces his mental barriers, and after a few seconds, Dumbledore realises everyone is looking at him and says "you are free to leave Mr Aquila. Return to whatever you were doing."

-The Unknown Player-

That night Dumbledore paces around his office once more thinking how he was ignorant of this boy for so long. The boy had learned things even adult wizards don't usually care about. He thinks about how the boy brought down a well-known wizard with a dark background without trying and how he will respond to the boy. He thinks about the boy's outstanding moral code and willingness to do whatever it takes to uphold it. "I will teach him forgiveness and the correct way to uphold his morals. I have to make sure he doesn't turn dark." Dumbledore mumbles to himself whilst stroking his Phoenix.

Authors note: Sorry about the glitchiness of Chapter 4. It's been happening to many others. Due to that, I decided to release this chapter when it is finished glitching. Anyways I hope you enjoyed reading and as always I look forward to any constructive criticism you have. Stay safe and have fun.
