Chapter 32

Chivalry

It was hard for Olivia to focus on anything other than Alex when she walked into the living room. The detective watched as the blonde wisped through the attached kitchen and located her keys, when she painted on a fresh layer of lipstick, using the stainless steel toaster as a mirror. Her ass surely was a thing of beauty—as she leaned over the counter she caught Olivia eyeing her backside in the reflection. Quickly, she turned around and, to her surprise, Olivia didn't even try to take her eyes away.

"Alex…you look…wow." Olivia moved into the kitchen to get a better look at Alex. She wore a tight, purple dress—it traced every single curve of her body, and the small dark straps on her shoulders accentuated the hue of her alabaster skin. Her normally loose, flowing blonde hair was pinned up in a bun, a few loose tendrils framing her delicate face. Olivia moved closer and tucked a piece of hair behind Alex's ear as she exhaled a breath she didn't know she was holding. "You are a vision, Alexandra. How are you so beaut…?" The unfinished question was quashed by a delicate kiss, emphasized by a tug on Olivia's bottom lip.

"Well, Liv, I appreciate the compliment; you are always so sweet. And, as much as I'm still getting used to this side of you (and not the rough and tumble NYPD cop)" Alex paused and pulled on the lapels of Olivia's grey blazer before she looked into the deep brown eyes and continued. "But, beautiful isn't exactly what I was going for." Her eyes darted from Olivia's jacket up to meet her eyes where she saw her pupils widen and a small smile spread across her face.

"Oh, Alex. You can make anything sexy baby—don't ever worry about me not thinking you're sexy. You could make a paper bag sexy, trust me." Alex watched as Olivia's eyes traced up and down her body, taking in every inch, and she didn't doubt the truthfulness in her lover's voice. Alex smiled and gazed back at Olivia's body.

"Thank you. But, unfortunately I'll never be as sexy as you. Damn, Liv." She looked her up and down, noting the small widening of her hips, the swell of her breasts, and the prominence of her cheekbones. She took Olivia's hand in hers and took a step back, creating enough space between them so she could examine the detective's tight body from a close distance. "You know, when I first met you I'll never forget how sexy I thought you were. Never, did I ever think, that it was even possible for you to look any sexier, but day after damn day, you prove me wrong. And now, here you are looking so fucking sexy, so many years later. But, now I can call you mine—finally." They both smiled as Olivia pulled Alex back to her grabbing her hips as she kissed her. When they broke apart a minute later Alex ran her thumb across Olivia's cheek, saying, "You're so cute when you blush."

It wasn't a secret—Olivia had so may vulgar and embarrassing things said to her on a daily basis by the dregs of society and it never bothered her. But, she was extremely susceptible to being embarrassed or bashful when people she cared about gave her compliments, especially Alex. It was often hard for her to hold back a bashful expression, usually lowering her head and avoiding Alex's gaze. Olivia knew that Alex thought it was 'so cute' but she couldn't help it—it wasn't very often that Olivia got compliments that actually meant something to her.

Olivia smiled towards Alex as she felt the attorney's hand under her chin, raising it to be level with her own. "Well, detective…are you ready?"

"I believe I am. Do I look ok?"

"Really? You look amazing. And me?"

"Alex. You are just dazzling, baby."

With that, Olivia took Alex's hand into her own and kissed her knuckles, ushering her out the front door. They got in the Mercedes SUV and Alex headed north on the highway when she reached over and laced her fingers through Olivia's. Fifteen minutes later, they pulled up outside Calypso, where they could hear the thumping of the bass from a few feet outside the walls.

Alex gave the keys to the valet and offered her hand to Olivia as they approached the line of people waiting outside. Olivia was never a fan of purses, or bags—the only bag she ever carried was her messenger bag, and that was usually only when she had to carry a change of clothes with her for some reason. She had merged her police items and her personal items very early on, and, for that reason, she took her bi-fold leather pocketbook out that held not only her New York driver's license, but her brass badge and her NYPD identification card.

As they moved closer to the bouncer, Olivia struggled to remove her license, but thought she probably wouldn't get carded so she folded everything back together and reinserted it in the back pocket of her jeans. They moved ever closer to the large muscular man in front of the podium when he asked for Alex's ID. She reached over and pulled her ID out of Olivia's front pocket, to the detective's surprise. "Sorry baby. Didn't want to bring my purse, and I slipped it in there when we were in the kitchen earlier."

Olivia replied with a smile and that wink, "No problem." The bouncer smiled at Alex and opened his arm so she could enter the club when Olivia followed closely behind. She was met with a firm arm, stopping her from advancing further.

"Ma'am, I'll need to see your ID."

"Oh you make an old lady feel young." She dug in her back pocket and opened the leather attachment, displaying her NYPD badge on one side, but handing him the side with her New York driver's license.

"Hey! NYPD, huh? Well that changes everything!" His eyes widened into a smile and he patted Olivia on the back, ushering her into the club with Alex in tow. The bouncer made his way to the front of the club, away from the DJ, making the music and thump of the bass still palpable, but tame enough to hold a conversation. He opened a small door and walked up a few stairs, showing them to a small platform with a couch, table, and a few chairs, complete with two bottles of champagne and a private bartender. "Welcome to VIP level, ladies! Thank you for all that you do for the great state of New York, officer. Enjoy your night!"

It always bothered Olivia when people called her 'officer,' but she was happy to let it slide tonight, as they were both surprised to be in the VIP section of the club. Alex looked around and raised her eyebrows, impressed. "This is nice. I guess being you has some…perks." She brought Olivia in for a deep kiss, and as she ran her hands through her short hair she could feel the familiar pull of Olivia's hands on her hips.

They moved to the couch as Alex opened one of the bottles of champagne, allowing it to overflow onto her hand, giggling as she grabbed two glasses and poured, handing one to Olivia. She placed her own on the table and brought her hand to her face, licking her fingers as she maintained eye contact with Olivia. The sight turned on the detective immensely, but she tried to push those thoughts toward the back of her mind as she took a swig of her drink and got up to order a different drink—she was never extremely fond of champagne.

"Hi. I'll have a double Captain and Coke, and she'll have a…well…" Olivia turned back towards Alex in time to see her walking up behind her, wrapping her arms around Olivia's waist. "I was just going to order you a merlot, but I didn't know if you wanted anything different…whatever you want babe." Alex nodded at mention of the merlot and they both placed their glasses on the table.

"To us," Olivia started. "To you helping me recover and grow stronger each day. To our new, but deep-rooted, relationship that I value more now than anything else I have ever loved. I love you, Alex." With that, they clinked glasses and took long drinks, Olivia almost emptying her rocks glass.

Alex took a breath and smiled as she spoke. "Let's dance. I know I remember those moves, and I want to see if you can still put'em on me." Alex raised her eyebrows as she led Olivia out into the crowd of people, creating a space for them.

The thumping of the bass put Alex exactly in the rhythm Olivia wanted her. She snaked in front of Alex, facing her, and placed her hands on the blonde's delicate hips, moving in rhythm with her. Over the next few songs, Olivia surely did put the moves on her. However, the detective noticed that something was amiss.

During the last two songs, Olivia kept feeling a presence behind her, and it reached its peak when she felt two hands creep around her own hips, pulling lightly and creating some space between her and Alex. Immediately, they both noticed.

Olivia whipped around and removed the woman's hands from her body. Alex leaned forward and was able to see over Olivia's shoulder—and what she saw was one of the most beautiful women Alex had ever laid eyes on. She stood, facing Olivia, with a smirk on her perfectly delicate face.

She had long, caramel-colored hair that flowed past her shoulders. Her green eyes pierced Olivia, and all Alex could do now was hope that Olivia had outgrown her habit of straying from her partners. She was nervous, but she trusted in their relationship, and could hardly suppress the jealousy growing in her body.

"Hi. I'm not here with you. So, if you could possibly," Olivia took the woman's hands in her own and moved them, "keep your hands to yourself, that would be great." She turned back toward Alex and winked.

"You really didn't think I'd let that happen, did you?" Olivia kissed Alex but quickly felt a hand on her hip again. This time, she whipped around furiously and began speaking to the woman behind her again. "Hey. Again, I'm not interested." Olivia shoved the woman's hand from her hip this time, not sparing any decencies. She turned back around and looked at Alex. "Let's move."

They moved toward the outskirt of the crowd and Olivia enthralled Alex into a rather firm and muscular hug, speaking closely to her ear. "You're so sexy." Alex smiled into Olivia's shoulder, still a little put off by the other woman, but happy that it was she, not the other woman, who was now wrapped in Olivia's arms. Quickly, though, Alex's happy moment was interrupted by a rather brusque voice.

"I hate to tell you, but I don't back off that easily." The woman's hands were instantly all over Olivia, rubbing her abs through her jacket before the strong detective could move her hand.

"My God. What do I have to do here?" Olivia threw her hands up and defensively stood in front of Alex, protecting her. "I'm not interested. I'm in a relationship. I'm not here to pick up women, and especially not you." The woman now took her eyes to Alex, who Olivia was obviously trying to shield from her sight.

"Oh. I see. So, this bitch won't let you have any fun? I can see why. Looking like her, I'd be afraid I'd lose you too." The woman motioned to Alex, who Olivia reached back and touched for security.

"Let's go babe. This isn't worth our time." Olivia turned Alex around and walked steadily behind her towards their VIP room when she felt a thud on her blazer. She stumbled forward as she felt the smack of the woman's hand.

"Hey! I wasn't done talking to you." Her attitude turned somewhat violent as she shoved Olivia on her recently healed shoulder. Olivia quickly felt Alex's presence behind her as the woman kept talking. "Oh no, here comes the girlfriend. Better take me up on my offer now." The woman curled her hand under Olivia's chin, caressing the skin there before Olivia took her hand and put it down by her side. "Oh common, sexy. We can just leave her here." She nodded towards Alex and Olivia felt heat rise in her face.

"Liv, babe, you ready to go?" Alex could tell that Olivia was uncomfortable and just wanted to remove them from the situation.

"Shut up bitch." She had crossed the line. Before Olivia knew it, the woman reached for Alex and Olivia grabbed her arm, twisting it before the woman swung her other arm at Olivia. Skillfully, Olivia grabbed both of her arms and immobilized them behind her back before she led the struggling woman to the front, opening the door and handing her off to the bouncer, who was happy to kick her out.

"Well, that was…interesting." Olivia looked back at Alex to see a shy half-grin. "What?"

"Nothing. Let's go back to the VIP and finish our drinks….and then, let's get out of here." She led Olivia back to the lounge and they both ordered another drink, with Olivia ordering a separate shot of Jack Daniels. She threw the shot back and swallowed with ease—it almost scared Alex how easily it seemed to go down, but her mind was elsewhere at the moment.

Olivia sat down on the couch in the VIP area next to Alex and looked the blonde attorney over. There was something different about her, and it irked Olivia. "Alex, what's up? Common, I'm not stupid. What's wrong? Are you mad about that woman?"

Alex thought a while before she turned toward Olivia and started speaking diplomatically. "No, Liv. I'm not mad about her…just got me thinking, that's all."

Olivia leaned her head forward, widening her eyes and raising her eyebrows as if she was waiting for her to elaborate, to no avail. Alex raised her glad to her lips and took a long swig of her wine. Watching her drink wine momentarily disabled Olivia; she looked so classic, and so sexy at the same time. There was something about the way the liquid spilled over her lips and into her throat that drove Olivia wild. She had almost forgotten that she wanted to ask Alex to elaborate when the attorney turned and looked at her. She cleared her throat and tried to rid it of all desire. "What do you mean? Thinking about what?"

"Well…I don't know. It's just…I don't know Liv." She ran her fingers through her hair. "You are just so-" her eyes traced up and down Olivia body, "and, I mean, you have to admit, she was really—"

"Stop." Olivia cut her off. "Alex, are you serious?" She picked up the remnants of her drink she had left behind earlier and threw them back.

"Liv. Please just, don't be mad at me." She looked into the brown eyes innocently, pleading for Olivia to understand.

"Alex." Olivia shifted on the couch so she sat closer to the blonde. She reached up and tucked a stray piece of hair behind her ear, before caressing her face with the back of her knuckles. "You are the most beautiful woman I have ever laid eyes on. And, even more than that, you are the woman I'm in love with." She took Alex's hands in her own and watched as a small smile pulled at the attorney's lips. "I didn't know you were so susceptible to what other people said, babe. Besides, she had absolutely nothing on you. You, my dear, are an absolute 10."

With that, Alex turned toward Olivia with a tremendous smile on her face. She wrapped her arms around Olivia's neck and placed an impassioned kiss on her lips. When they broke apart, she began speaking. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have taken her seriously. But…she was right about one thing." Olivia cocked her head and waited for her answer. "You definitely are sexy." They both smiled at each other and finished their drinks.

Olivia stood up and offered her hand to Alex, who took it eagerly. "Let's get back out there. I promised you a dance." They walked down onto the floor, this time, without any interruptions. Alex slinked in front of Olivia and guided her down by the speakers—it was too loud for them to hear each other speaking, so Alex knew that body language would have to suffice.

The blonde pulled Olivia in for a quick kiss before turning around and backing up into her. She felt Olivia's hands attach quickly to her hips, pulling her closer and closer. Alex moved to the rhythm of the bass, grinding her ass into Olivia when she felt it.

Quickly, she turned around and mouthed 'no way' to Olivia. They still couldn't hear each other over the volume of the music, and Olivia just responded with a smile and that fucking wink. And that fucking wink is exactly what caused Alex to do what she did next.

She pressed her body against Olivia's and traced her hand down to grasp the hardness through the detective's jeans. She felt Olivia squirm a little and she tried not to smile as she snaked both hands onto the small of her back, pressing their bodies together.

Alex could only take it so long, and she knew it. After the first full song, she took Olivia's hand and guided her toward a dark corner of the club, away from the music. She pushed Olivia against the wall and kissed her neck, whispering in her ear between kisses.

"I don't know if I can make it home, with you like this. You've been very…" Alex kissed her neck again, thinking of a proper word, "chivalrous all night. Dismissing that woman on my account, calling me beautiful…you had me ready to be an honest woman for the night. Until you surprised me with this." She reached down and caressed the harness in her jeans again. "Was this your plan all along?"

Olivia just smiled and shook her head with three words. "Let's go home."
