4. The 76th Hunger Games

The 76th Hunger Games

A woman named Allor Wester took Seneca's place as Head Gamemaker, she was a 3d modeller and aspiring artist, so President Cornelius Snow found her perfect for the job. She was unsure of what the arena should be until she read a history book about the old world. There was a place called Paris that held some of the most amazingly constructed buildings in the world. She decided the Gamemakers were going to construct a full-sized version of Paris complete with the parks, the Louvre and the infamous Eiffel Tower. The Cornucopia was on the third floor of the Eiffel Tower, and there were three elevators tributes could use to get down to the esplanade. They could also use the staircases, though it would take longer. From there, there were tens of square miles of houses, bakeries and many other things in all directions. It was also the first arena in almost two decades to have absolutely no mutts in it, a huge surprise for the Capitolites.

The Careers were a decent bunch, only slightly worse than the ones from the previous year. The District 1 Boy was of Spanish descent and was a dream with a sword. The District 1 Girl had dark brown hair, and her beauty wowed the Capitolites and her weapon of choice was morning stars. The District 2 Pair were the strongest pair out of all the tributes. The boy was the leader of the pack and specialised in scythes. The girl had jet black hair and her favourite weapon was a javelin. The District 4 Boy was in the upper class, like Nicolette from the games prior and his favourite weapon was a trident. The District 4 Girl was the youngest Career that year and she specialised with a harpoon. There scores were average getting two tens, three nines and one eight.

There wasn't an Anti-Career Alliance that year, but there were a few strong outliers. The District 8 Girl got an eight due to her outstanding archery and survival skills. The District 6 Boy scored a seven due to his skills with a mace. Everyone else scored a number from six to two.

The Arena

The tributes were brought into the arena by hovercraft, as they started on the third floor of the arena. When the timer ticked down to zero twenty-two tributes ran towards the Cornucopia. The other two, DeCo from 3 and Axel from 7, fled down the elevators.

Sand was the first to reach the Cornucopia. He grabbed a trident made especially for him and threw it at a boy running by.

24th- Dixon Sable (District 5 Male) killed by Sand (4) – Bloodbath

Admiral was not close behind. He quickly picked up a sword and slashed the closest person to him across the chest.

23rd- Gottonly Derek (District 8 Male) killed by Admiral (2) – Bloodbath

Soon after, Carnelian and Crown reached the Cornucopia and picked up their favourite weapons. Carnelian threw her morning stars at a boy running towards a backpack, killing him quickly.

22nd- March Tombola (District 9 Male) killed by Carnelian (1) – Bloodbath

Crown chased after Destiny and was about to kill her when she grabbed a small girl and held her infront of her as a human shield. Crown didn't have time to react, killing the young girl instead.

21st- Anju Gorki (District 11 Female) killed by Crown (1) – Bloodbath

Destiny panted and ran down the stairs as fast as humanly possible to avoid dying like she almost did.

The District 12 Pair were allied and collecting supplies from crates behind the corner. Zuc turned around to show Georgia what he found when he dropped to the floor with bloody morning stars in his back. Georgia screamed and began to run towards an elevator. Admiral came across barely alive Zuc and stabbed him through the back to put him out of his misery.

20th- Zuc Molar (District 12 Male) killed by Carnelian (1) & Admiral (2) – Bloodbath

Admiral ditched his sword and picked up a scythe then began to chase after Georgia.

Meanwhile, Florentine was about to make her first kill. She caught sight of a young girl frantically running around amidst the fray. She readied her arm and flung a javelin at the girl, hitting her directly in the chest.

19th- Selene Addis (District 10 Female) killed by Florentine (2) - Bloodbath

Admiral final caught up to Georgia and cornered her against the railing and with one swish of his scythe, her throat had been slit. Blood poured into her lungs, killing her.

18th- Georgia Harder (District 12 Female) killed by Admiral (2) – Bloodbath

Surfer was the only Career to still have no kills, so she picked up a harpoon and chased after Rougher. As soon as she got close enough to kill him, he turned around and picked her up by the neck. He knocked the harpoon out of her hand and pulled a knife from his belt, stabbing her through the stomach and lungs. Rougher went into an elevator and left, letting Surfer bleed out.

17th- Surfer Alexanderson (District 4 Female) killed by Rougher (6) – Bloodbath

Crown went after a girl not even realising that one of his allies was dead. He stabbed her through the back with a sword and Florentine finished her off with her javelin.

16th- Biba Norris (District 9 Female) killed by Crown (1) & Florentine (2) – Bloodbath

The penultimate kill was made by Sand, he had seen Rougher kill Surfer and Sand wanted revenge. Rougher was long gone, so Sand thought of the next best thing, Rougher's district partner. Sand ran up to her and impaled her with his trident.

15th- Remedy Jonson (District 6 Female) killed by Sand (4) – Bloodbath

There were barely any outliers left gathering supplies, but Carnelian was determined to get one more kill, so she threw a few morning stars at a young boy and, by chance, killed him.

14th- Sage Moore (District 11 Male) killed by Carnelian (1) – Bloodbath

Eleven cannons shot signifying eleven people perished and the bloodbath ended.

Admiral and Florentine went on a search around the area of the Cornucopia to see if any tributes were close by, with no luck. Crown, Carnelian and Sand ordered supplies whilst the hovercraft collected the deceased tributes' bodies.

Day 2 was the only deathless day of the entire game.

The Careers went hunting with Sand staying at the Cornucopia and the others going hunting. Rectangle just randomly wandered around the arena for most of the day. DeCo found a bakery stuffed with food and stayed there all day. Destiny set up camp in a house around a mile away from the Cornucopia. Rougher continued to walk further and further from the Cornucopia, barely taking any time to rest. Axel found the Louvre and decided to stay there. Sap had grabbed a bow and arrow on the Cornucopia and climbed across the rooftops. Isabel also stayed in the Louvre, climbing as high as she could in the inside. Finley discovered a park and stayed there.

Only one encounter was made that day. It was when Isabel spotted Axel looking at artwork from above, but she didn't bother killing him.

On Day 3 there were two deaths, both from Careers. Carnelian and Sand hunted in the east, Admiral and Florentine hunted in the west and Crown guarded the Cornucopia.

At around noon, Carnelian and Sand discovered the park and began looking through it in hope of finding another tribute. They eventually found Finley sitting on a park bench. They crept towards him, then Carnelian stepped on a branch. It made a large snapping noise and alerted Finley. He screamed and began to run. Sand hurled his trident at the running boy, hitting him perfectly in the back, killing him.

13th- Finley Emu (District 10 Male) killed by Sand (4) – Day 3

About two hours later, the District 2 Pair wondered into the house Destiny was staying in. She was watching TV, not paying attention to anything around her. The duo crept into the living room and shouted battlecries as the lunged, weapons in hand at her. Florentine stabbed her thrice and Admiral finished her off with a slit to her throat.

12th- Destiny Reimers (District 5 Female) killed by Florentine (2) & Admiral (2) - Day 3

After that the Careers decided to call it a day and went back to the Cornucopia to relax for the remainder of the day.

The only close encounter that day was when Rectangle passed by the Louvre, but he decided against going in.

Meanwhile DeCo was living it up in the bakery, every time the food supplies got low it automatically restocked for her. Rougher settled down in a bungalow two and a half miles away from the Cornucopia. Axel and Isabel continued to stay in the Louvre. Sap stayed on the rooftops.

On Day 4, there were three more deaths. The Careers went hunting again, with Florentine guarding and the others hunting together as a quartet.

The bakery DeCo was staying in finally stopped producing food, so she walked outside. It just so happened that the Careers were walking down that street. Carnelian saw her first.
"Tribute! Get her!" she shouted.

DeCo screamed. Then, every single one of the hunting Careers pounced on her, attacking her in every way possible. Seconds later, she was dead.

11th- DeCo Lampern (District 3 Female) killed by Crown (1), Carnelian (1), Admiral (2) & Sand (4) – Day 4

About half an hour later, the group were walking down a street when Sap spotted them from above. She pulled out her bow, readied her arrow aimed at the group and fired. It hit Sand dead in the chest, it hit a vital organ, killing him.

10th- Sand Lorenz (District 4 Male) killed by Sap (7) – Day 4

The others saw her. Carnelian threw a few morning stars at her and Crown picked up Sand's trident and threw it at her. The trident hit Sap in the chest making her lean forward in agony. Most of the morning stars missed, but one of them hit her foot, making her stumble and fall off the roof. She hit the floor hard, killing her.

9th- Sap Gondola (District 7 Female) killed by Crown (1) & Carnelian (1) – Day 4

That left the final eight: Crown Cornice and Carnelian Deque from District 1, Admiral Members and Florentine Foliar from District 2, Rectangle Donaldson from District 3, Rougher Erg from District 6, Axel Kerrison from District 7 and Isabel Octa from District 8.

The Careers decided to go back to the Cornucopia since there were only four outliers left. Rectangle decided to hide in a suburban house a mile away from the Cornucopia. Rougher stayed in his bungalow and Axel and Isabel stayed in the Louvre, Axel still not realising Isabel was in there with him.

On Day 5, Admiral guarded the Cornucopia whilst Florentine hunted alone and Crown and Carnelian hunted together.

After a few hours, Florentine went into the Louvre to take a break when she heard footsteps coming from the cafeteria. She crept towards it and saw Axel happily eating a baguette. Isabel was watching and she'd come quite fond of Axel, but she was weaponless and there was nothing she could do to save him. Florentine threw the javelin at Axel and it hit him in the neck, killing him extremely quickly.

8th- Axel Kerrison (District 7 Male) killed by Florentine (2) – Day 5

Isabel gasped loudly at how violent his death was. Florentine heard her and slowly turned and looked up. She pulled her javelin out of Axel and flung it at Isabel, who was knocked off and hit the ground hard.

7th- Isabel Octa (District 8 Female) killed by Florentine (2) – Day 5

Later in the day, Carnelian and Crown were walking through an area full of bungalows when they heard a TV blaring. They followed the noise until they found the house it was coming from. They entered it and saw Rougher sleeping on the sofa. They both got swords out and stabbed him in union. Rougher died before he even woke up.

6th- Rougher Erg (District Male) killed by Crown (1) & Carnelian (1) – Day 5

After the three cannon shots, the Careers regrouped at the Cornucopia to relax for the rest at the day. Rectangle, the only remaining outlier, nervously paced around for most of the day trying to think of a plan.

On Day 6, the Careers were becoming anxious there was still four of them and only one fourteen-year-old to kill them or they would have to fight each other. Admiral suggested that they all go hunting since there was nothing the District 3 Boy would need at the Cornucopia since they had all of the weapons on them. The others agreed and they began to hunt for the boy. The quartet looked all over the arena for the boy for many hours, but they didn't find them. When the Careers were about to give up, a sponsor sent them a map of the entire arena, with four white dots where they were and a red "x" where Rectangle was staying.

The Careers rushed towards Rectangle, none of them stopping to take a breather. Around half an hour later, they reached the place Rectangle was staying. They all rushed into the house and saw Rectangle cooking food. They charged at him, attacking him with every weapon they had. In seconds, he was dead.

5th- Rectangle Donaldson (District 3 Male) killed by Crown (1), Carnelian (1), Admiral (2) & Florentine (2) – Day 6

They all took a breather for a moment, then one by one it hit them. They were the last four tributes left. They all shook hands and officially ended the alliance.

Admiral was the first to attack. He slashed his scythe across Carnelian's chest and let her bleed out.

4th- Carnelian Deque (District 1 Female) killed by Admiral (2) – Day 6

Florentine lunged at Admiral with a knife, he stepped out of the way and grabbed her wrist. He pulled a sword out of his backpack and plunged it into her chest, killing her.

3rd- Florentine Foliar (District 2 Female) killed by Admiral (2) – Day 6

Crown stared at Admiral wide eyed then ran out of the building extremely quickly, from there, he ran and hid round the corner of the street.
"Coward!" Admiral shouted.
Admiral drew closer and closer to Crown. Just as he was about to turn the corner, Crown leapt out at him and stabbed him directly through the heart. Admiral died of organ failure in mere seconds.

Victor News

Crown marries when he is 18 and has four children in his lifetime. He drinks alcohol to forget about his experience in the arena. He dies two weeks before the one-hundred-and-nineteenth due to an unspecified disease.

On Crown's Victory Tour, most districts like him except District 2, who are beginning to become frustrated that their tributes keep coming 2nd.
