Lex was given little time with Naira before doctors took her away due to respiratory distress. Naira was having difficulty breathing the Yautja air. Analysis showed a Yautja/human hybrid lung that required additional oxygen. Naira was placed in a small clear chamber that simulated Earth's atmosphere. However, that did not work either as Naira struggled with Earth's atmospheric composition. The doctors worked to create the right atmospheric mix and pressure.

Once the right atmosphere was discovered, the doctors then did a series of tests on Naira. Her blood was green like a Yautja. Her eyes, nose, and jaw resembled a human. The doctors did a series of tests on her vision to see if she could see like a Yautja. They flashed her with infrared light that only a Yautja could see and she did not respond to it. As the doctors worked, the Prince and Makawee looked on.

"It was a courageous experiment my Prince," Makawee said.

"It could have been worse. There was a time when our scientists produce clones and it was an abomination," the Prince said.

Lex remained agitated not having her infant by her side. She was given a sedative and additional drugs to help her heal. As, she slept each of the other six wives took turns monitoring the infant. They each had secret opinions on the infant. Makawee indulged the Prince's "experiment" but wondered if the new addition would taint the family House. Nizhoni fought for her husband's affections by being fully supportive of the project. Aylen was also supportive but for genuine reasons. Urikia was indifferent. Talutah was opposed believing it to be a low class abomination but kept her opinion to herself. She believed the child was a mistake that could jeopardize the Prince's political connections. Kachina was weary of the Prince's attention on Lex and her child seeing as how she was given the smallest amount of attention. Being upstaged by the seventh wife put her in a difficult position, but she also liked Lex personally.

Midway through Talutah's shift, the doctors came to her to authorize vaccinations against Yautja Prime diseases. "Her immune system will be compromised as soon as she interacts with Yautja Prime's atmosphere. This is necessary for her survival," the doctor told her.

"Is there a risk the vaccinations themselves could harm her?" Talutah asked bored.

"There is a small risk," the doctor admitted.

Talutah studied the data pad. If she refused to authorize the vaccinations it could potentially kill the child. She looked at the doctor wondering if he was the type that could be bribed into silence. She then stared at the infant hybrid in the small clear chamber.

"Princess?" the doctor asked her.

"Do it," Talutah said reluctantly. "My time here is only until dawn. Do not interrupt me unless it is an emergency," she snapped at the doctors.

After the tests had been completed, Lex and Naira went back to the palace. Naira was placed in a crib of sort that was a much larger clear container. The atmosphere inside the container was closely monitored and a female nurse was present in case medical care was needed. For a few moments, Naira would be allowed outside the crib. During these moments, she would struggle to breathe but was not in mortal danger.

Lex was expected to breast feed the infant, and she had no qualms about doing so. She had expected the infant to look like a Yautja infant and the thought of that had scared her. A typical Yautja infant would use their small mandibles to lock onto the female breasts often causing bleeding. Instead, Lex breast fed Naira as if she were a human infant. Unlike that of a human, Lex's milk was a light green fluid. After she was done breast feeding the infant, Naira would have to go back inside the crib.

One day, the Prince watched intently as Lex breast fed the infant. "I want to know everything about Yautja children. When they're expected to speak, to walk, to read, everything," Lex listed off.

"To hunt?" the Prince asked.

Lex said nothing. "There is no need for concern. Females are not expected to be hunters," the Prince said.

Lex shuddered realizing that the Prince meant Naira would be a breeder her whole life subject to being one of many wives. "She is the daughter of a Prince. I will make sure she is the first wife of a cunning warrior."

"Thanks," Lex said sarcastically. "When will she adapt to the air?"

"I do not know. This is the first time a Yautja/human hybrid has been born. The nurse will gradually change the atmospheric composition to Yautja Prime. Still, her cardiovascular system shares human characteristics. She will have difficulty playing with her classmates. Her brain is smaller than a normal Yautja child. She will face difficulties in school," the Prince said.

"What about Earth? Could she breathe there?" Lex asked.

"She is a child of two worlds. She will have difficulty breathing in either environment. It must be one or the other and it shall be Yautja Prime," the Prince said resolved.

Lex considered that thoughtfully. "We will begin our mutual congress again once you have healed," the Prince informed her.

"So eager for another hybrid?" Lex asked.

"I desire the pleasure even if it does not result in conception," the Prince replied.

During the next few months, Lex watched over Naira's progress as she gradually adapted to the Yautja Prime air. She had always thought that Naira would be a normal Yautja child, but her transformation had not completely eliminated her human DNA. Now, the child would not only be physically handicapped but ostracized for looking like a freak in Yautja society. If she brought the child to Earth, the same result would occur. Lex was stuck with no options.

Other than caring for her infant Lex was given the ceremonial role of overseeing an energy plant outside the city. She was supposedly acting in for the Prince's authority but had no real power over its management. Lex didn't care to manage the workers and supervisors anyway.

"Tell me the basics of how this energy plant works," Lex had asked the lead supervisor.

"Many generations ago, we launched a solar sail into the high atmosphere. The sail collects the energy from the star and then beams that energy to this plant. If our calculations are wrong the beam will melt this whole installation and penetrate the crust of the planet," the lead supervisor indulged her.

"Is the solar sail in a stationary orbit?" Lex asked.

"No, the solar sails are programed to go where the maximum radiation is. They are always facing the star and they are always positioned wherever it is summer on the planet," the lead supervisor said.

"So, what do you do when the solar sail is no longer aligned with this plant? You can't move the power plant," Lex said.

"Correct, when the solar sail is no longer in position this plant will shut down until it comes back to us. Then the solar sail will beam energy to another plant on another continent of the planet," the lead supervisor explained.

"All of this is very interesting. I want to know how it all works," Lex said.

"The Prince is acting executive of this plant, but he is never involved in the management. Is this a change in policy?" the lead supervisor asked.

"No, I am simply curious. If you could tell me everything I want to know I would be grateful," Lex said diplomatically.

"Yes, I understand Princess," the lead supervisor said.

Lex was given an allowance by the Prince to spend as she pleased. Lex had no interest in Yautja fashion, which to her seem bizarre. She also couldn't tell the difference between a normal transport vehicle and a very expensive trendy one. She simply lacked Yautja taste to know what was and what wasn't appropriate for the very rich. Lex also had no interest in the Yautja art productions and cinema, which often portrayed warriors as glorious hunters. Instead, she saved her money and began giving various people "gifts" for their cooperation. Lex assumed the Prince was monitoring her account, so she would act as if she was spending lavishly on dinner parties when in reality she was using these contacts to bribe them.

Lex often went to an entertainment club where females congregated. In many of the Yautja facilities males and females were segregated. Lex scanned her card as she entered the club, which then alerted the Prince when she had arrived. She engaged in small talk with some of the Yautja present and then found her business partners. They were wives of nobility but Lex was the highest ranking of them all due to her husband.

"A pleasure to meet you again Princess," the noblewoman said.

Lex discreetly gave the noblewoman a small chip. The other noblewoman were positioned around the table in such a way as to shield anyone else from knowing what was going on. "Are you certain your mate won't miss these funds?" the noblewoman asked as she took the chip.

"I have a gambling problem. I heard its common among the nobility," Lex said.

"It is. You owe debts to a lot of commoners I see: engineers, biologists, meteorologists, and administrators," the Nobleman said as she placed Lex's chip into a data pad.

Lex said nothing and started to leave. "It was a pleasure being in your presence," the noblewoman said as Lex left the club.

Lex started investigating other areas of Yautja society not being overseen by royalty. Many of the Princes and Princesses had no interest in power plants, water treatment plants, medical research facilities, and meteorology stations. Lex brought herself to a combat training facility in the capital.

As she arrived, she saw robotic versions of Yautjas walking around. They were encased in Samurai looking armor and their masks covered their faces completely. Lex looked around as she saw young male Yautja warriors engaging these robots in combat.

"Princess, what an unexpected visit," the manager said as her card was scanned.

"I have an interest in developing my fighting skills," Lex said as she toured around.

"Princess, our androids are to train hunters. If you were to become injured it would be scandalous," the manager said.

"I am a trained hunter. I have killed Xenomorphs and Black Yautja. Do not underestimate me," Lex told him.

"Yes Princess, forgive me," the manager said.

Lex put on blades and extended them out. The robot was also armed with blades. The two of them walked into an arena circle. The male trainees many of which were teenage youths watched to see what would happen.

Once the program began, the robot immediately advanced on Lex. What followed were sparks flying from when the two clashed with their blades. Unlike a usual opponent, the robot didn't slow down. Lex felt her muscles burn as she kept up with the robot's pace. As Lex was almost in danger of being slashed open the manager deactivated the robot.

"Impressive Princess," the manager said to her.

Lex cast her blades aside. She was sweating and out of breath, very un-princess like. The other male trainees seemed stunned to see their princess battle a robot. "I want to know everything about these robots," Lex said.

"Of course Princess. Royalty has never paid attention to our work before," the manager said pleased.

"How smart can you make these robots? Can you give them artificial intelligence?" Lex asked.

"It was possible once, but the royalty banned it centuries ago. They said that using android hunters was an abomination. The robot doesn't bleed, doesn't feel the excitement of battle, nor pride of capturing impressive game," the manager explained.

"Why not make robots servants?" Lex asked.

"There are many Yautja workers that can fulfill such tasks. There is no demand for android servants," the manager said.

"I demand them. I want a fighter unit for my own use, so I don't accidentally kill someone," Lex lied. "I want them to be able to adapt."

"As you wish Princess," the manager said as she gave him a data pad showing large sums of currency.
