"What have you done now?" Marlene asked, trying to keep the annoyance out of her voice. She'd been pretty upset all day having thought that Sirius had forgotten their anniversary. She'd even threatened to have him spend the night over Peter's house. She knew how much he didn't like being around poor Mrs. Pettigrew.

"You're going to like it, babe," Sirius said, a smile evident in his voice as he steered her forward. "Trust me."

"How can I trust you when you've gone and forgotten the most important day in our entire relationship?" Marlene asked, the anger rising even as she was trying to push it back down. "Where are we anyway? It sounds like downtown."

"What?" Sirius asked, sounding like he'd just been found out. "No. Why would I take you downtown for our anniversary?"

"Why wouldn't you?"

Marlene loved Sirius. She truly did. He just didn't have a brain when it came to all things romantic. Not like she did. She'd gotten him the best anniversary present to ever be thought of in all of the histories of anniversary presents. Even better than her present of last which had been a pet dog.

"Marlene, just keep an open mind about this," Sirius said, sounding hurt that she didn't think he could be romantic. "I'm trying my best, you know?"

She nodded. Her blonde hair getting tangled in his fingers with the movement of her head. She just wished that they could get wherever they were going so she could pretend happiness and start planning for the next anniversary.

"Are we almost there yet?" she asked, almost twisting her ankle as Sirius directed her forward. "That's the fifth time I've almost twisted my ankle this entire trip."

"We're almost there," Sirius said, moving her forwards and then putting her hand on something round and metallic. "Why don't you open the door, dear?"

Marlene turned the doorknob and hear the creak of the door. That was an awfully familiar creak. She would know that creak anywhere. It was the creak of the door to their coffee shop. The one that she and Sirius had started in Hogsmeade when they graduated Hogwarts. Black Coffee. Why was Sirius bringing her here for their anniversary? Happy anniversary let's work! Was that his game?

"What are you guys doing here?" Peter Pettigrew asked more loudly than was necessary. "I didn't think you were going to be coming in today."

"We're here for Operation Cocoa," Sirius said, putting emphasis on the codename for some reason.

"Merlin, is it that time already?" asked Peter, sounding frazzled as the sound of hurried footsteps sounded in the room.

"Can I open my eyes now, Sirius?" Marlene asked, feeling both anger and annoyance rise in her chest once more. She was getting downright tired having her eyes closed and covered. If Sirius and his friends had done something to their coffee shop then she just wished that he'd own up to it and stop playing around.

"Not yet," both Sirius and Peter shouted in one voice.

Marlene let out a sigh as she felt around for a chair. She could at least be comfortable while they did whatever they were doing. She could hear the scraping of something being moved and someone whispering to be quiet. Then there was silence for a second before something was placed in front of her. Something that smelled an awful lot like her favorite wine. What was going on here?

"Open your eyes, Mar," Sirius said, that mischievous smile back in his voice again.

She opened her eyes and gasped in shock as all of their friends jumped out of hiding places and called out "Surprise!". She couldn't believe her eyes. Sirius must have found a way to get in contact with all of their friends throughout the years. She could see Dorcas in her Healers uniform from St. Mungos. She could see Frank and Alice holding baby Neville. Lily and James were there too with their son Harry. Everyone was here.

"You did this….for me?" she asked, feeling the tears prickle her cerulean blue eyes as the glass of wine was pressed into her hand. "I acted so horribly towards you today. When you were only trying to give me the best anniversary present ever. Can you ever forgive me, Siri?"

"Of course," Sirius said, smiling. "Now if we could all raise a glass I would like to make a toast and ask a question at the same time."

Everyone raised their glasses and looked expectantly at Marlene. Which confused her more than anything. It was as though they were expecting her to raise her glass too. Looking up at Sirius she saw him waiting on her too. That's when she caught the glimpse of something gold from in her white wine.

"Sirius is that…."

Sirius nodded. "Marlene Agatha McKinnon would you do me the honor of becoming Mrs. Marlene Agatha Black?" he asked, getting down on one knee.

She nodded happily as he took her wine glass and fished the ring out with a fork that Peter had handed him. He wiped it off on his sleeve and placed the engagement ring on her finger to enormous applause.

"Best anniversary present ever," Marlene whispered as she hugged Sirius.

The rest of the night went by in a blur. All that mattered to Marlene was that she was spending the most important day of her life with her friends and the man she was going to spend the rest of her life with. Nothing could be better than that.

I hope you all enjoyed What Happens at Black Coffee...as much as I enjoyed writing it.
