Roman studied his wife Delia. Something was clearly wrong despite her trying so hard not to show it. Her strawberry blonde hair hadn't been washed that day, and she usually took a shower everyday. Her hazel eyes had a worrisome look in them, and she avoided eye contact as she ran around with the vacuum cleaner in a poor attempt to not talk to him.

"Delia," he tried again.

He knew she heard him. He was raising his voice enough to get it over the sounds of the vacuum cleaner. She just pretended otherwise. He got up from his seat on the couch, walked to the wall and unplugged the vacuum cleaner. The sound died immediately. She looked over at him holding the cord in his hand.

"Talk to me," he said.
"Plug it back in. I need to clean," she said.
"This place is spotless, and you already know that," he said.

He dropped the cord on the floor and walked over to her. She lowered her eyes to the floor in another attempt to avoid eye contact. He gently placed his hands on her cheeks and forced her to look at him.

"Talk to me, sweetheart," he pleaded. "Something is clearly wrong and I wanna know what it is."
"It's bad," she said lowly.
"How bad?" He asked.
"Really fucking bad," she answered. "Like a giant meteor hitting the earth and wiping it clean of everything in a second type of bad."
"That does sound bad," he cracked a sideways smile. "Tell me what it is. Nothing can be so bad that we can't figure out how to deal with it. As long as you didn't cheat on me, we'll work it out."
"I didn't cheat," she said.
"I know," he said.

He leaned in and gave her a soft kiss.

"So what's wrong?" He asked.
"They..." She started.

They were interrupted by knocking on the door. She tensed up right away as if she knew who was on the other side. He didn't catch on completely and instead managed to give her a smile before moving to the front door. It only took a second for her to follow. She had to stop him. He already had his hand on the door knob when she reached him in the hall.

"Don't!" She said firmly. "They found me."

He turned his head to look at her. There were tears in her eyes. His brain didn't connect her warning in time for him to stop the movement with opening the door. He was opening it while still looking at her.

"Who found you?" He asked.

As soon as he asked that question out loud, he knew the answer. His eyes turned hard as he moved his head fast to see the two people his wife dreaded the most in the entire world standing there.

"What the fuck are you doing here?" He growled.
