Roman held Delia in his arms while she cried. Her tears soon ran dry but he kept holding her for a bit longer. She finally took a step back and broke the hug. Her hazel eyes were red and looked sore. He wished he could take all her pain away.

"They know where we live," she said. "They're not gonna go away. They want money, and they're gonna try everything to get them."
"Even if you give in and give them money, they'll keep coming back for more," he said.
"I know," she said. "Fuck! We should have left the state. We got careless when we chose to stay. We should have moved when your entire family decided to take all their lives to Florida. We should have moved there too."

He started smiling. It grew bigger and bigger. She started looking concerned.

"Are you alright, or are you about to go Joker psycho with that smile?" She asked.
"You're right. We should have moved there too," he said.
"Yeah, we should," she said.

She nodded and crossed her arms. He couldn't help but chuckle. She was saying the words but it was like she wasn't actually hearing herself.

"So let's move there," he said.
"We can't just..." She stopped herself. "Wait, what? For real? You wanna move to Florida?"
"I don't see why not," he said.
"My company does have a department there," she mumbled.
"Great. Call your boss right now. I know how important you are to the company. Leave him no choice. Tell him it's Florida or you'll start working for the competition," he said.

She smirked at him. She was important to the company. No way would they ever let her go to work for someone else. She took out her phone, and he took out his.

"Who are you calling?" She asked.
"My dad," he answered. "We're gonna need somewhere to live, and he's got a lot of houses on his hands. Also, he can get movers here by dawn. All we have to do is spend today packing everything in boxes, and they'll come take care of the rest. Once your parents decide to try their luck knocking on this door again, we'll be long gone."
"I fucking love you," she said.
"I love you too," he said. "Now call. We need all this solved now."

He stepped into the living room to call while she went to the kitchen to make her phone call. They were done around the same time. She ran into the living room and jumped up into his arms. He let himself fall down on the couch with her on top of him. It seemed weird but yet fitting that he was now back on the couch he had been on 30 minutes earlier while watching her vacuum.

"We're moving," he said.
"We're moving," she repeated. "I can't believe everything you've done for me."
"I made you a promise," he said.
"We were only 18," she said.
"I always knew you were the one. And I know you always knew I was the one too. I never regretted anything. You're all I ever wanted," he said.

A light whimper sounded next to them. They turned their heads and looked at their dog who decided to lick Roman's hand in return.

"Alright, alright, pooch. You and her are all I ever wanted," he grinned. "Better?"
"Much better," she laughed. "This is my perfect family and my better life that I dreamed about growing up. You made that dream come true, Roman."
"And it will continue in Florida," he chuckled.
