Chara woke up ready to go on their journey. Instead of taking the River Person, they decided they could merely walk the relatively short distance towards where Undyne was slain. They didn't need much since it was only a short walk. Alphys gave Chara her phone number before bidding them farewell and leaving to do research on the demon. Chara set Flowey on their shoulder as they set off towards Waterfall. However, they were oddly silent, and Flowey seemed to pick up on it.
"Hey, you okay?" he asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just a little morbid that we're going to run around and find what essentially amounts to dead monster's bodies," they replied.
"Well, when you put it that way, I guess it is a little dark. But look on the bright side! You'll be able to get some of your memories back," said Flowey cheerfully.
"Yeah, I guess." Before they knew it, they had reached the mountain where Frisk usually fought Undyne. For some reason, however, there was no dust to be found.
"If you're looking for dust here, you're wasting your time," explained Flowey, "Undyne was killed on the bridge just ahead."
"That's odd. I thought-"
"Look, just trust me. Hopefully your little vision will show you what happened." Letting out a sigh, Chara listened and continued father down the path. Sure enough, there was some dust scattered on the bridge, just like Flowey had said. They started to feel themselves blacking out, but for some reason they didn't fall over like the last time. Unfortunately, they didn't have much time to ponder this before the vision began.
The foolish child thought they could stand up against the demon. Smiling, the demon raised their foot, which was wearing a ballet shoe, ready to kick the child down. They thrust out their foot, grinning as the child realized they were doomed, before the fish came and took the blow. She told the child to run, and they did with great hesitation. The demon frowned as the child ran off, but they quickly wore a smile again as they noticed the fish had been cleanly snapped in half, with her lower half sliding down. No wonder the child was hesitant to run. The demon listened as the fish lamented her quick demise, and smirked as she began to turn to dust. Suddenly, however, she began to reform. The demon frowned as they realized what was happening. The fish's determination was allowing her to persist after death. Vowing to strike the demon down, she began to transform into a much more powerful form.
"You're going to have to try a little harder than THAT," she sneered. The demon kicked her, but the fish barely flinched. She summoned a large number of spears and killed the demon within seconds. They were slightly upset, but excited at the same time. Finally, they were getting a worthy opponent. They loaded the save file, and watched as the fish transformed again. This time, they managed to get in a few blows before dying once again. The cycle repeated, over and over, but each time the demon made a little more progress. Their determination never wavered, for they were determined to end the fish's pathetic life. After what seemed like forever, the demon finally managed to land the killing blow.
The fish swore, shocked at how even the power they had just used wasn't enough. The demon laughed, but was stopped by the fish letting out a laugh.
"If you...if you think I'm going to give up hope, you're wrong. 'Cause I've got my friends behind me. Alphys told me that she would watch me fight you...And if anything went wrong, she would...evacuate everyone. By now she's called Asgore and told him to absorb the six human souls." The demon frowned at this development, but began smiling once again as the fish began to melt. "And with that power...this world will live on!" Finally, the fish turned to dust, and the demon felt the wonderful sensation of their love increasing. And with that, they moved on to the next area, where there were far more monsters waiting to die.
Chara came to in the exact same spot where they had blacked out. They were even standing up!
"Wow, that was fast," quipped Flowey.
"How long was I standing here?"
"You've only been there for a few minutes. You must be getting more and more control over these visions!"
"Yeah, I guess you're right," replied Chara. Suddenly, their phone started ringing. It was Alphys. "Hello?"
"Hey, it's me, Alphys. Have you found her yet?"
"Yeah. I actually just got out of the vision."
"Well, perfect timing, because you should probably get back here. There's, uh, something you need to see about the demon," explained Alphys.
"Alright, we'll start heading that way. Thanks for the heads up."
"Great. See you when you get back." Chara hung up and explained the situation to Flowey.
"Well then, let's start heading back," he said. Chara picked him up and they began walking back to the lab.
Author's notes: Yeah, it's been a while. I've been pretty busy irl, so I haven't had too much time to work on this. Plus, I wanted to do the Undyne the Undying fight justice. You see, it always gets glossed over in favor of the Sans fight, when in reality it's just as epic. I really hope I did it justice, and please feel free to let me know what you thought in a review. I'll try not to keep you waiting as long for the next chapter, so I'll see you all soon.
