Chara awoke, but not in the judgement hall. They were in a large black space, reminiscent of the Void. At first, there was nothing they could see, but they eventually noticed a figure walking towards them. As the figure got closer, Chara began to make out some more features. It was an exact copy of them.

"Who are you?" asked Chara as the figure got closer. This resulted in them letting out a little chuckle.

"Why, I think you are well aware of who I am, Chara," said the figure. Finally, it dawned on them.

"You're the demon...the demon that comes when people call its name," said Chara in disbelief. The demon let out a laugh.

"Hahahaha! You always were a smart one. Frankly, I've been honored that we share a name, though I doubt you'll call me by it."

"Well, you'd be right in that assumption. Where are we, anyway?"

"Why, your mind, of course. And here I was, calling you smart," replied the demon. Chara merely glared at him as he walked in circles around them.

"Let's just get to the point already. Why did you bring me here?"

"Eager as always, eh? Well, fine then. But, who says we must fight like uncivilized people?" A table and two chairs suddenly appeared between the two of them, along with some tea. "Care for a drink?" Chara eyed the tea warily. "Oh come on, do you really think I'm so barbaric as to poison you?

"You killed almost every single monster in the Underground," noted Chara.

"Fair enough. But consider this; you can't die within your subconscious." Chara reluctantly sat down and took a sip. It actually tasted pretty good. "Now then, where to begin..."

"How about starting with why you killed all of those innocent monsters?"

"Fine, fine. But let's get one thing clear: I didn't actually start the killing myself, oh no."

"Then who did?" remarked Chara.

"Why, who do you think?" snarked the demon. As he said this, another figure, who was tied up, appeared next to him.

"Ch-Chara!" shouted Frisk.

"Frisk!" Chara jumped up from the table. "What did you do to them?" they snarled as Frisk once again disappeared.

"Oh, I haven't done anything. In reality, it wasn't even Frisk that started killing if we're being honest. After all, they were never in charge of their own body in the first place," replied the demon.

"What do you mean?"

"They have been controlled by a being far more powerful than me since the very beginning. An anomaly, if you will. As soon as they fell into the Underground, they were possessed by this "anomaly", and they lacked all control ever since. It was the anomaly who reset, and it was the anomaly who began the killing. I only entered once they reached the goat's home."

"Her name is Toriel!" protested Chara.

"Meh, names mean nothing to me," said the demon casually, "Anyway, the anomaly was actually rather cooperative with me. I had been hoping to talk to them after we killed the king. But then the flower appeared and, well, you just had to interfere."

"In my defense, I didn't really know what was happening. I just woke up from what felt like a bad dream."

"You really don't get it, do you? Your love for the flower freed you from my control, and you, unwittingly, knocked me unconscious. I had to use almost all of your determination to revive myself."

"So THAT's why I wasn't able to reset," said Chara as they put the pieces together.

"Correct! There's the brilliance I complimented you for earlier."

"So, what happened to the anomaly once I woke up?" asked Chara.

"Well, you see, I don't really know. I suspect that they lost control, for you've been in almost complete control, but I can't really be sure," replied the demon.

"Wait, what do you mean by 'almost' in control?"

"Think, Chara. What could I possibly mean by that?" Chara thought for a moment before responding.

"You're the reason I was seeing those visions," they answered.

"Ding ding ding! While I worked on regaining my strength, I figured I would have some fun and show you the deaths of your friends and family."

"But why? What do you gain from all of this death and destruction?"

"Are you serious? I get nothing! I live only to cause chaos and suffering amongst the creatures that roam this planet. The funny thing is, this isn't even the first time our paths have crossed! You remember the night you died, yes?"

"No..." muttered Chara.

"Yes, I am the reason you died. When you and the goat boy fused, I took over your soul, and prompted the goat to kill the humans. But he refused, and spared them, resulting in the two of you getting killed. And I must say, that was one of my best plays I have ever performed!"

"But how? You weren't defeated until long after I died."

"Chara, I have always had the ability to control minds. It was just made so much easier when those wizards destroyed my physical form," explained the demon, "But now, there is only one thing left before I can truly take over this world..."

"And what would that be?" asked Chara.

"Why, your soul, of course," replied the demon as he slowly grinned. The demon summoned a knife and began walking towards Chara. "And to get it, I'm afraid you'll have to die." Chara leapt out of their chair and began backing away before something occurred to them. This was their mind. They were the ones in control. Concentrating with all of their might, they too summoned a knife. "And just what is that going to do?" snarled the demon.

"Nothing much," replied Chara, "But at least I'll be able to put up a fight." The two stepped towards each other, each with only one goal in mind.

And they were DETERMINED to see it through.

Author's note: Short wait, right? I've been wanting to write this chapter for a while, ever since I started this fanfic, so I pretty much started as soon as I could. I know it was a really dialogue heavy chapter, but at least it was interesting, right? Anyway, the next chapter will hopefully be just as interesting. So, on that note, I should probably get to work ;)
