The Gilbert Legacy

Chapter Three

Little Huntress

"Couldn't take the blame, sick with shame

Must be exhausting to lose your own game, selfishly hated

No wonder you're jaded

You can't play the victim this time

And you're too late"

Call Me When You're Sober ~ Evanescence

Mystic Falls, Mikaelson Mansion

When Kol left Kansas that night after kicking Damon Salvatore's cocky ass he was left to ponder about the disappearance of a little pretty brunette that left him to question his own interest in such a mysterious girl, let alone a human. He never thought that he'd ever find himself to care if you can call it that. He is after all earning the title of 'The Happy Homicidal Maniac' He was known to cause mayhem and bloodshed throughout the centuries of living on this earth. He showed no mercy or remorse to those who crossed him, betrayed him, and had no use for. He painted the towns red, whenever he pleases. So why?, Why was this girl spiked an interest in him? Why is that he felt the need to find her, to see where she is? Who is she to him? Why is she so bloody important? He subconsciously rubs his hand against his chest in a circular motion, not aware of his actions due to his stupor filled thoughts.

The creaking of the wooden floor against heavy footsteps of the Hybrid had Kol brought out of his train of thoughts when he felt his brother's presence behind him as the Hybrid made himself known, Kol is sitting on one of the sofas in the living space at the mansion while he stared at the fireplace in front of him.

"Hello, brother...What do I owe this pleasure of being graced by your presence on this lovely day?" Kol asked as he turned his head to give his older brother his winning smile. Klaus gave him a pointed look before it morphed into his amusement as he answered his younger brother.

"Kol, have you heard anything from the Gilberts?" Klaus asked as he hopped over the sofa and propped down next to his younger brother, placing his arm over Kol's shoulder. "It's been awfully quiet around here...don't you think?" He looks at him with curiosity coating his face.

"Now that you mentioned it, brother. I haven't heard anything from them since killing Scary Mary." He placed a finger on his cliffed chin as though he was in deep thought. "I wonder what they're up to...maybe I shall pay them a visit." He suggested, smiling at Niklaus like a little boy who had obtained their favorite toy—rubbing his hands together.

"Maybe we both shall pay them a visit, it's been long overdue." Klaus got off the sofa and walked out the door with Kol tailing behind him before they were at the entrance of the mansion Rebekah had decided to make an appearance, her long blonde hair in a tight ponytail wearing a white tank top that exposes the light creamy skin of her shoulders and blue jean shorts that hugs her curves. Looking like any other teenager in this curtain era—It was always a good thing for her to blend in with the humans no matter what the generation it may be, but the '20s will always have the piece of her heart. The 20's fashion was to die for...literally.

"Where are you two going?" Rebekah questioned, eyeing them warily, it was quite odd to her to see the two who seem to be 'bonding' together. Not used to them not bickering, at each other's throats, or attempting to dagger one another, since Kol has been released from his box. "What are you up to? I'm sure it's not a good thing if Kol is tagging along with you...Nik." She stated as she arched a brow at her Hybrid brother accusingly.

"Little sister, it's none of your concern what Nik and I are up to," Kol answered her, not wanting to give anything away, he hated that she was so noisy about everything. He may love his little sister but sometimes she shouldn't be putting her nose in everyone's business when it isn't needed, which just gets under Kol's skin at times.

Klaus just smirks at her walking toward the front door but Rebekah blurred in front of him blocking his path, Klaus shook his head at her while Kol let out an irritated low growl and crossed his arms over his chest. While Rebekah places her hands on her hips challenging him—ignoring the amused Hybrid as she shoots daggers at her brunette brother with suspicions written in her blue eyes meeting his brown ones.

"This is a strange behavior—Kol. You're never so willing to tag along with Nik. So...I know you up to no good and I want to know why that is." She accused him, tapping her foot impatiently.

"Ohh...Is someone jealous that they're not having any bonding time with their older brother?" Kol strides forward just a few inches in front of her. "We don't have time to play your games Bekah." Kol sneered, his eyes in a cold stare sending slight shivers down her spine, the kind that makes you want to run away and never look back—her shivers didn't go unnoticed by Kol as his knowing smirk graced his handsome face, portraying him as unhinged.

Rebekah huffed and moved aside letting them walkthrough. "I'm coming with you two!" She announced as she followed closely to them. "I won't take NO for an answer, either!"

Kol rolled his eyes while Niklaus silently nodded at Rebekah's direction. "Just don't get in our way…" Kol chided as he waved his right hand near his head as if to shoo away fly.

"Oh, I wouldn't dream of it…" She said sarcastically, staring at the back of Kol's head with annoyance. 'What are they up to? This must be important if they're so willingly collaborating with one another...' She thought as she followed them towards the direction of the Gilbert house—The first stop before checking the Scooby-Doo Gang's usually hang out at The Grill, they blurred out of their property taking a shortcut through the woods within a few minutes they'd arrived at their destination.

All three of the Mikaelsons walked up to the Gilbert house with Kol leading their way, he knocked on the front door and waited for someone to answer. Hearing beating hearts just on the other side of the door and voices that belong to some of the members of the Scooby Gang. Footsteps sounded closely towards the entrance, stopped as the door opened and revealed a very confused Jeremy, he stared at Kol suspiciously. Then again the Mikaelsons were never up to no good, if anything they'll do anything in their power even if it means to get their own hands dirty to make their enemies' lives a living hell. Jeremy opened the door wider to reveal the other two siblings behind Kol, Rebekah rolled her eyes at him while Klaus smirks and waves at him, now he was even more confused about their presences and what they may want from him. Maybe they want to speak to Elena or The Salvatores.

"Kol? What are you guys doing here?" Jeremy bravely asked as he swallowed the lump in his throat, not expecting to see any of the Originals at his front door, he grew weary of them.

"Hello mate, It's been a while hasn't it?" Kol mused as he looked at Jeremy, surveying his posture and reactions to their random drop-in. "Where's your doppelganger sister and her boy toys?" He sniffs the air, smelling the faint of their scents. "How's her new life as a vampire, now that she's no longer a human blood bag?" Klaus cleared his throat, catching Kol's attention as he gave him a look as if to say 'get to the point, Kol'. Kol rolled his eyes at his brother's demeanor and looked back at Jeremy, he opened his mouth to continue but little Gilbert beat him to it.

"Look man…we have a lot to deal with as it is... Can't we call it a rain check?" Jeremy said in aggravation as he crossed his arm over his chest. Klaus and Rebekah's exchange of amused looks with one another while Kol studies Jeremy's behavior with a blank expression.

"You want a rain check? That's something new Gilbert." Kol mocked Jeremy for his slight hostility probably still upset over what he did to his sister and her raven-haired boy toy.

"What do you mean? You're all dealing with a lot right now? From what it looks like everything has been quiet around here, so to speak. Quite boring actually since your doppelganger sister can't help me with making my hybrids." Klaus spoke up as he was watching his brother and little Gilbert's interaction.

Jeremy stares at Klaus and addresses him. "I meant that...it isn't the time for you guys to be scheming against us…" Klaus looked at him in wonder. What have these goons been up to for the weeks he has been minding his own business and going his merry way? "What's going on, Gilbert?" He gave him a pointed look with a tone that left no room to argue with him.

"It means we're all probably dealing with something more than it meets the eye," Alaric said behind the Mikaelsons, he arrived with the intent to look after Jeremy and his friends, Caroline, Bonnie, Matt, and Tyler—while his sister is away at the Salvatore boarding house. Under Damon's specific orders, he doesn't want Jeremy anywhere near the boarding house in case they decide to go through some torture methods—if needed to get some answers from the little brunette that Alaric found out is the same girl that Jeremy made friends with back in Denver. He wasn't able to meet the brunette due to her being down at the basement of the boarding house, held in one of the cells when Damon called him for a meeting to discuss what had happened at the memorial.

When the Mikaelsons looked at him weird he sighed and explained farther. "Today at the memorial service there was an attack—It wasn't a normal one either. There was a trap set up to lure out the vampires, to expose themselves while these individuals try to hunt them…" He explains to them what Damon had filled him in but only at the part in which Tyler was shot down in front of everyone. He wasn't sure how much information he should be sharing with the Originals.

"What? Are they friends of yours Mr. Wannabe-Vampire-Hunter? How are we sure that they aren't your hunting buddies ready for the hunting season?" Rebekah teases with dry humor in her tone and rolling her eyes at the human. She never liked the wannabe hunters that came strolling into town, even though they sometimes provided her with some entertainment when things became dull.

"No, I don't know them—I didn't get the chance to be face to face with them...until Damon and Stefan were able to detain one of their members." He defended himself, knowing that he was always working alone and never knew any hunters outside of his circle. These hunters were probably summoned by someone among the Founder's Council but he wasn't so sure, he had to meet with Damon once more to confirm his theories and maybe find some answers.

"Wait...They caught one so that means they're able to get answers from them?" Jeremy asked as Alaric stared at him, masking his emotions to not give away his thoughts, he didn't want to cause Jeremy any more pain than he's already been through. He's looking out for the little Gilbert just what Jenna would have done if she was still living on this plane.

"Last I heard, they're still knocked out from being shot." Alaric walked over to Jeremy to stand beside him facing their audience. "Damon was shot with several wooden bullets along with the hunter they were able to obtain. The only reason being... is they had shot their own member, trying to save their own ass and left as quickly as they can when Stefan showed up to help his brother." Alaric informed them before gesturing to Jeremy to go back inside the house.

"Well, that's an interesting find then...We'll be sure to check it out." Klaus said before blurring away along with his siblings not giving Alaric any chance to protest.

Alaric let out a breath he didn't know he was holding in and looked back at Jeremy. "Whatever is going on...I don't think it's good to have them against us. We would need them on our side if anything." Jeremy gave him a thoughtful look as he let Alaric's words sink in.

"Why would that be a good thing? They're pretty unpredictable. I meant, look at what Rebekah did to Matt and Elena because she threw a damn tantrum when she couldn't get her way with Matt… Almost killing Matt and forcing Elena transitioned into a vampire because of her jealousy. So, don't say I didn't warn you." Jeremy argued, not understanding why Alaric is insisting that they need the Originals on their side and not against them. Jeremy doesn't realize that it's better to have one group against them rather than having two coming their way, they can use this to their advantage for the time being. It doesn't mean that Alaric trusted them completely after the hell they've been through.

Alaric walks into the house with Jeremy and closes the front door behind him, Caroline and Tyler look at them with a questioning look having to hear their conversations with the Originals at the front porch.

"What was that about? and what did they want?" Caroline asked, crossing her arms over her chest. "I didn't think they'll pay us a visit anytime soon…considering they've been out of our radar for a few weeks now." Caroline still hates that the Original family lingers in their town, especially Klaus, she wants him to stop pursuing her when her heart belongs solely to Tyler.

"They seem curious… or sounded like it." Tyler gave Alaric a narrowed look. "What's going on at the Salvatore boarding house? Did they really catch one of them? If they did I want a piece of that action. No one staked me and gets away with it." He clenched his fists at his sides and remembered how much it hurts to be staked.

"Alright guys settle down...maybe we should wait for the others before jumping into some conclusions, right now we have to be patient." Bonnie chided as she felt the tensions between everyone. She didn't want anyone to be at each other's throats for wanting to take action on what had happened at the memorial earlier that day.

"Bonnie's right, we can't say for sure until Damon or Stefan gets back to us with some answers." Jeremy agreed before making himself comfortable on the couch in the living room.

"Whatever, man." Tyler sits down beside Jeremy as he makes himself comfortable with his arms resting against the back of the couch. Caroline sits on the armrest next to Tyler with a worried expression. She never liked being so out of the loop and wanted to know how they're going to deal with this issue.

"Well let's hope they'll let us know soon and maybe then, they'll have some information for us to go by later on," Matt said as he stands behind the sofa assessing everyone's tension. He's always been a spectator within his group but sometimes he wishes there's a way for him to be more involved with them rather than being the weakest link among them. He wanted to be able to protect his friends even if it meant putting himself in danger.

"I still don't think we should trust any of the Originals." Tyler chimed in reflecting back all the trouble they've been through after the Mikaelsons appeared in their lives, nothing but pain, anger, and troubles that were enough to last them a lifetime. "We just have to remain cautious when we deal with them along with these so-called vampire hunters."

"Okay, Ty… that's enough fuming for one day." Caroline placed her hand on Tyler's shoulder to comfort him of his tension that's emitting from his body. "Just relax, for now, we'll cross the bridge when we get to it." Tyler looked up at her and couldn't help but roll his eyes but relaxed at her touch.

Alaric pulled his phone out of his back pocket and shot a text to Damon alerting them of their surprise visitors and to give him some heads up before the Originals showed up at the boarding house.

Ric: Originals heading your way.

Damon: What? What do you mean they're heading my way? What do they want?

Ric: I may have mentioned the hunter… and they were interested...

Damon: Ric, why would you do that?

Ric: Maybe they can help us out? It's better to have them on our side rather than not.

He didn't get a reply back from Damon so he placed his phone back in his pocket and went into the kitchen to get some beer, because today is going to be a long day. And if he is going to face the wrath of Damon Salvatore—even if they're best buds, he might as well be drunk facing him. Alcohol seems to be the only thing that calms his nerves nowadays. He sighs and walks over to the dining table, sitting down to nurse his beer.

Salvatore Boarding House; Basement's Containment Cell

"Wakey, Wakey little huntress...Raise and shine." Damon mocks as he tosses a bucket of cold water onto the unconscious brunette before him. The water drenched her long brown hair and clothes making the dry blood on her grey wife-beater tank top under her black leather jacket aroma more potent than it already was before it dried up. When the water didn't make the girl move he used a different method to get her attention on him, he stiffly kicked the chair that she was tied to, the ropes were around the lower part of her torso, wrists, and ankles. "C'mon now, I know you're awake—a human's heart changes the way it beats when they are not in their state of slumber."

A grin lifted up at the corner of his mouth as the brunette slowly raised her head up to look into his crystal blue eyes with her cold brown ones, it's like he's being lured into pools of ember—slowly causing a stir of unknown emotions in the pit of his stomach. This girl before him was very different from the one he had first met in Denver. This one held such animosity. If looks can kill, he would be ten times over and heading straight to his grave but Damon likes the feisty ones which make it even more fun torture.

"What are you doing in Mystic Falls? Weren't you just in Denver—I'm sure it isn't just a coincidence that you ended up here out of the blue." Damon grabs a wooden chair that was beside the cell door, placing it a few inches away from the brunette as he places it facing him as he straddles it while resting his arms on top of the top rail of the chair. "What's your business here? Better yet—who are you working for?... We can do this the easy way or the hard way...it's your choice."

The brunette continues to stare at him in the eyes, not budging under his questioning stare making him scoff in frustration. "Alright, I guess I have to do this the hard way…" Damon got up and kicked his own chair away from him before fishing out the surgical tweezers from the back pocket of his jeans. "I'll count to ten...If you don't say anything this hefty tool will go deep into your open wound and I guarantee I'm not going to be gentle—I don't do gently...1...2...3..." His blue eyes shine mischievously. "4...5…6..." He finishes his count down and yet not a single word out of her, she sure is stubborn at the wrong time to be.

Odette rolls her eyes at him as she keeps the emotionless mask on her face. Damon sends her an evil smirk before shoving the tweezer into her open wound just on her right shoulder where the first wooden bullet had gone through, twisting it around the bullet hole and slowly pulling it out but not completely. Odette bites down onto her bottom lip to prevent her groans from releasing from her mouth not wanting to give Damon the satisfaction that he is aiming for.

When Damon notices her resistance to the pain he is inflicting on her, he shoves the wooden bullet deeper into the open cavity of her flesh making her bite down harder onto her bottom lip drawing blood, as a new flow of her blood oozes out of her wound. "You're really stubborn, you know that? I know you want to scream—I can make you scream." He wags his eyebrows at her in a mocking gesture before pulling the wooden bullet out of her shoulder, making her stifle the scream that wanted to crawl its way out of her throat, sweat building upon her forehead while her facial expression hardens. Don't give him what he wants…

"I'd fuck you up!" She spat out her words at him as Damon stabbed the tweezers into the other open wound on her chest where the other wooden bullet is residing. "Ohhh Kinky—but now isn't the time for any fantasies about your tormentor, unless you're into that kind of stuff—hot and a masochist—every vampire's wet dream." He said as his amusement didn't die down from his own dry sense of humor.

She glares up at him despite the pain she was feeling. She wanted to fight back, she only had to get her wrists out of the ropes he had bound her with than she's going to show him what pain really is and not this petty bullshit he is doing to her. She twisted one of her wrists around their binds keeping herself from hissing in pain as the tightrope digs into her flesh.

"Aww, c'mon huntress tell me all your secrets. I mean I would compel you but it seems as though it doesn't work on your pretty little mind...So let me ask again...What are you and your pals doing in Mystic Falls?" Damon asked as he tossed the surgical tweezers over his shoulder and pulled out a pocket knife, flipping it open.

"I don't spill my secrets to leeches. You'll have to kill me before you get anything out of me." Odette sneered as she continued to loosen the ropes around her wrists, distracting Damon with her words. Damon was too invested in his interrogation to notice her wrists bleeding from the tightness of the rope, her blood coated her wrists and hands making it slippery enough to go through its bound after completely removing the rope she held onto it calculating her chances of retaliation against the vampire that had held her hostage.

"Hmmm...That can be arranged." In a flash Damon has the pocket knife pressed against the side of her throat, lightly pressing the tip against her skin as he trails it down onto her collarbone, as blood seeps through carvings from the blade of the knife as it left a long gash against her delicate skin. He ran his tongue against the cut he made, starting from her collarbone to the side of her neck. Tasting her sweet delicious blood—it was not like any other human blood, he has ever tasted before. It was like having chocolate for the very first time in your life and you can't seem to forget how good it melts into your mouth, savoring each bite. "Mmm...You're pretty tasty—I must say. I wasn't expecting that from someone who doesn't like vampires...It makes me wonder why you haven't taken any vervain? Even if you cannot be compelled, vervain will keep us leeches away from your sweet blood."

"Are you seriously trying to give me advice?" Odette said as it came out breathy from the closeness that's making her a bit anxious, especially when her personal bubble has been invaded by a vampire with clear intentions of feeding on her. "Strange. Ass. Vampire." She murmurs to herself but with Damon's enhanced hearing he was able to hear her words loud and clear as if she had spoken them in normal volume.

"A little advice doesn't hurt anybody, doncha think?" Damon pulls back a few inches from Odette's face flashing her a toothy grin before his face changes into his vampire visage—grey veins crawling its way underneath his eyes, while the white areas of the sclera had turned red surrounding his blue pupils and his fangs elongated through his gums. He entangles his fingers just through the hair at the nape of her neck, tugging her head slightly backward to expose her neck to him—before he could sink his teeth into her neck he found himself not able to breathe as the ropes that were once bound around her wrists are now secured around his neck. Gripping the rope tightly on both ends as she strangles him more, planning to cut off his air supply, hoping to knock him out. Even in such a state he reached out towards Odette and wrapped his own hands against her throat, mimicking her strangulation.

Struggling to breathe, Odette took the opportunity to jab her thumbs into Damon's baby blue eyes, making him yelp in pain, stumbling back a bit before she kicked him in the stomach, away from her. With such force, it made her fall onto her back along with the wooden chair that she was still tied to. Her head hit the floor with a loud thud causing her a slight headache from the impact. She quickly freed herself getting up from the floor and broke off one of the chair's legs with one swift kick. She stabbed the wooden leg into the middle of Damon's back as he was still recovering from the injury she had inflicted on his eyes, groaning from the new pain emitting in his back. She then kicks the chair leg deeper into his flesh before leaving the cell and she rushes up the stairs disappearing into the night leaving Damon in a vulnerable position on the floor writhing in pain. He didn't think she would get the best of him—clearly, he underestimated her abilities due to being a mere human being.

A couple of minutes later, the Originals had found Damon on his knees hunched over trying to take the wooden leg out from his back because the little brunette had kicked it deeper than expected, he needed someone to assist him from removing it. "I see, y'all made it to the after-party," Damon said, sarcasm dripping from his voice as he sensed them from behind him. "That bitch made it difficult for me to pull this shit out of my back, Ugh..." He tried to reach for it again.

"Wow...you look kind banged up, Damon," Rebekah remarked as she eyes him at his current state. "Do you need help taking that out?" Rebekah stepped forward but wasn't able to get to Damon quick enough because Klaus had decided to do the honors of pulling the chair leg out of Damon making him groan as he placed his hands against the ground as if to brace himself from falling face flat onto the floor. "AHH!, a little warning next time?" Damon glares up at the Original Hybrid, who took the bloody chair leg and chucked it onto the floor.

"I'm only here to help—it seems you had a bit of an altercation considering the prisoner is no longer a prisoner." Klaus mused as he stared down at the older Salvatore. "How did this happen? Don't tell me a mere human got an upper hand on you?" He berates him with a wolfish grin gracing his face.

"She was a tough—fucking—cookie." Damon enunciates each word as he braces himself up against the wall to stand onto his feet. "Thanks for taking that out of me...when I get my hands on that little bitch again, I will fucking rip her pretty little neck out." He murmurs to himself but the other vampires hear his threats.

"She? A woman huntress...hmm...Was she at least lovely to look at?" Kol spoke for the first time arriving at the boarding house he was inspecting the surroundings of the chamber when something on the ground caught his eyes. He bends down slowly and picks up the wooden bullet—but as soon as he touches it burns him making him drop the bullet onto the floor, he crouches down to examine the markings on it. His eyes widened as he recognized the runes etched onto the bullet.

"We're not dealing with regular hunters…" Kol trails off as his mind recalls the first time coming face to face with the same markings centuries before as his brothers had eliminated the original beings that have been associated with the markings.

Klaus breaks Kol's stupor as he takes the wooden bullet from the floor, there was no burning for him when he made contact with it and exams the markings on it. "That...ca-can't be…impossible" They exchanged looks at one another, a little shaken by the revelations that have been thrown at their faces. They were too occupied to even sense their little sister's presence near them.

"What are you guys talking about?" Rebekah asked as she hadn't seen her brothers shaken expressions, only that they were silently communicating with their eyes. "Let me see that Nik" She takes the wooden bullet from her fellow blonde brother—but just like Kol it burned her and she dropped it onto the floor. "No, No...Impossible! How can this be?" Her eyes widen with fear and disbelief.

"What are you guys on about? It's like you've seen a ghost..." Damon asked them as he let his eyes wander over the forms of the three Originals. They seem to know something and Damon was anxious to find out what it is that made the most feared beings on this planet shaken in their boots. "What do you mean they aren't regular hunters? What makes them different from the Founding Families' hunters?" Damon questioned them once more, as the two blondes directed their attention towards him while the brunette paid no mind to him.

"Oh...My God…" Kol inhaled a sharp breath as the realization hit him like cold water washes over him. Whoever the huntress was they may be connected to the supernatural hunters that he and his siblings have come to know of, it was never a good sign when it comes to runes carved into weapons such as wooden bullets. Kol wanted to brush it off for once but something in the back of his mind was nagging at him to find the person who was once held captive by the Salvatores.

Kol blurs out of the basement—passing a very confused Stefan and Elena along the way, he was letting his siblings fill in the confused vampires before leaving to track down the scent of fresh blood that left lingering trails out of the boarding house and into the woods, he was sure they couldn't have gone that far. He ran through the trees as the scent had led him to a dead-end where the scent had all of a sudden evaporated into thin air— he paused as he absorbed his surroundings, closing his eyes as he concentrated on the environment hearing every sound around him.

A few seconds later a twig snapped from behind Kol making him turn around quickly as he gripped onto his attacker's wrists making the pocket knife fall out of their grasp onto the forest floor. Kol's eyes widened in disbelief as his brown eyes met a familiar brown doe-like one. His breath hitched as the scent of her blood invaded his nostrils, sweet like honeysuckles and freesias. He inhales her scent greedily making her tense even more from his hold—veins starting to crawl under his eyes making the white area of his eyes darken in red around his brown orbs while his fangs made themselves known—he briefly closed his eyes to calm down his natural instincts making his vampire facade fade away, he gently pulls her into his arms and holds her against his chest as his arms securely curl around her waist, keeping her from moving, Odette let out a sigh because she knew that she was going to have to face him eventually—She never thought it would be sooner. Not what she had planned, her plans lately have been derailing left and right.

"It was you... what are you doing here?" Kol's voice was a soft whisper, something that was never expected from the unhinged Original that he is but somehow he manages to maneuver himself gently towards this human girl. When she wouldn't reply he pulled back a little before placing both his hands gently against her cheeks as caressing them with his thumbs, he then stared into her pool of embers as it beckons him into her alluring gaze, hypnotized by her beauty and delicious scent. Everything about her was testing his control, something he hadn't faced since he had been turned into a vampire along with his siblings over a thousand years ago.

"You need to tell me...so I can help you, darling." He breathes, she stares back at him with shock in her eyes but it left as quickly as it appeared in them. She placed her hands against his chest and shoved him away from her, creating distance between them. She couldn't let the fog creep into her mind as his appearance and scent seem to try to cloud her better judgment and she couldn't afford to be lured into a trap that might sign her dead certificate—at least not yet, she's worked so hard to get this far—she wasn't about to give up.

"What is it? Why are you here?" He asked as he masked the hurt from his tone, he stepped forward carefully as if he was trying not to scare off a wild animal who is skittish from an approaching human. "Odette...talk to me. I need to understand why you are here and with them?..." He didn't mean to sound as though he was begging her to speak to him, to give him straight forward answers that he wanted—Kol wasn't used to using words to find answers because he was never the type to do so, he was known to evoked into his violent techniques or torture, asking questions is what Elijah, his eldest living brother would do because he was the noble one in the family, but never him. It was strange how he seems to act so differently around this human girl.

The pretty brunette in front of Kol was just as confused as he was as she backed away from Kol as he continued to step forward towards her, matching her steps she kept her hardened stare on his form—she quickly moves forward to high-kick Kol, hitting him square in his jaw making him stumble back dumbfoundedly as she had caught him off guard by her actions. She squared her shoulders and positioned herself in a fighting stance, ready to strike him once more. He didn't want to move from his spot, he didn't want to hurt her, he just wanted to talk to her. His own instincts telling him to stay put and not attack her, making a low growl of frustration emit from his chest.

Then, Odette lunged herself towards Kol but he interrupted her attack once again as he grasped her hands before she was able to wrap it around his neck but this time around he was guarded. "Stop fighting me...I just want to talk. You're only going to get yourself hurt, darling." He whispered as he trained his eyes onto hers, she shook her head at him and tried to put more distance between them, there was tension, as she continued to struggle from his hold making her wrists even sore. "Why must you be so stubborn? I'm just trying to help you understand the predicament that you are in..." Kol let out a heavy sigh when Odette wasn't listening to his explanation of his intentions but she wasn't able to give him a reply due to the Hybrid making his presence known from behind her.

"Well, Will you look at that? You had found our little huntress, Kol." Klaus appears behind Odette and he wraps his arm around her throat while the other arm is around her waist holding her to him in a tight hold—ignoring the growls that emitted from Kol as the Hybrid took the girl from him. Odette's hands try to pry his arm off her throat to loosen up his chokehold on her. "I think it's time we have a little chat with her...shall we brother?" Klaus says as he releases the brunette from his hold and elbows her against the head, knocking her out cold and she drops onto the dirt ground.

"Was that even necessary, Nik? I'm sure she would have gone willingly, knowing that she's surrounded." Kol snarls as he glares at his brother due to his antics before reaching down and gently placing the brunette over his shoulder, carrying her like she weighed nothing. Klaus shrugs and walks back to the boarding house to fetch Rebekah so they all could go back to their home to interrogate the tiny brunette in Kol's arms.

"Good, you've caught her. If we hadn't I'm sure this would have been a bigger mess of things, brothers." Rebekah acknowledged, letting a sigh of relief.

"What are you guys planning to do to her?" Stefan asked as he watched the three Originals conversation among each other in the front of the boarding house.

"We're going to do what your brother failed to do—make her talk," Klaus replied with his infamous devilish smirk eying his former ripper friend and the former doppelganger who stood wary of them next to Stefan. "Then we're going to have a little chat on this hunter problem." Klaus turned his back to them and blurred away with his siblings trailing behind him.

"I think we should let Alaric know what's going on so he can update the others," Elena suggested as she slipped back into the boarding house. She walked into the living parlor and found Damon nursing his tumbler of bourbon in deep thought staring into the fire of the fireplace.

"Are you okay, Damon?" Elena asked as she sat down on one of the couches before shooting a text to Alaric letting him know the situation. Stefan sat next to her as he gently rubs his hand in a soothing motion on arm, silently supporting her through her current struggles—from almost losing control of her vampiric feral instincts and not being able to keep down to much to resort to feeding on the vein, in other words using Matt as a human blood bag, he offered her it's not like she forced him to.

"What are we going to do? They got the only person we could have our answers from." Stefan said a little hit of frustration in his tone, not liking that the Mikaelsons' have an upper hand in the predicament they are in.

"We'll figure it out… for now, we should be cautious of our surroundings just in case there's more of those hunters along the way. It's better safe than sorry." Damon finally responded to Elena's voiced concerns that matched Stefan's. "And we may or may not do a little investigating of our own, in case Klaus won't spill the beans." Damon smirks as he was planning something up his sleeves—waving the little huntress' phone in his brother's direction.

Somewhere in Mystic Falls

"What the fuck did you do?! Why the hell would you leave her behind?" The blonde accused the dark-haired man in front of him that was pacing frantically. "Why didn't you just leave with her like it was originally planned? Huh? Now they fucking have her!" He punched his fist against the wall in frustration.

"Look, I panicked and they were on us...I didn't want our cover to be blown. Odette was trying to get me to talk while I was trying to lure those bloodsuckers out!" Connor defended himself from Galen's anger. He sighs and places his hand on Galen's shoulder and speaks with determination. "We'll get her back man… we will do whatever we can to make that happen."

"Whatever man…" Galen shrugged off Connor's hand off his shoulder going towards the bar and making himself a drink. He felt like something was off about the whole situation. Odette wouldn't volunteer to play roadkill just to get some insights with the vampires of this town. Connor must have done something and Galen is going to pretend to go with whatever facade Connor is putting up to manipulate the other members around him. He wasn't a fool and isn't going to start being one when his fellow comrade is in the hands of bloodsuckers they were so set on hunting down. Swirling the amber in his glass before chucking it down, as he faced Connor once more then he set his glass down and walked out the door.

Once he was outside he located his car, he unlocked it and opened the door settling into the driver side closing the door, locking it even. You can never be too sure around here. He fished out his cellphone from his jean pocket before scrolling into his contacts, landing on a familiar contact, and dialed the number.

After a couple of rings, a velvet voice rings through the phone's retriever, and Galen sighs before he skips the pleasantries. "We have a problem."

"And what would be the problem, Vaughn?" a mocking tone responded. Galen sighs again but this time in frustration. "You were right about him...about Connor...he isn't on the same page as the rest of us." The voice on the other end chuckles humorlessly.

"What did he do this time?" The voice asked with a serious tone.

"He told everyone that Odette pretended to sacrifice herself to get more intel from the inside…" Galen explained and after he did he heard a loud crash on the other side of the call.

"Masen? What are we going to do?"

"We're going to get her back…I'll make sure of it. Then we will deal with Connor." The call ends leaving Galen sighs in relief knowing that Masen will help fix the mess that Connor had erupted around them, that's one problem down now how are they going to approach the creatures that had held her hostage, not that Odette can take care of herself, it's just that he's worried for her—she's known to do something reckless but she wasn't stupid like what Connor was making her out to be.

The vibration of his phone took him out of his thoughts—it's surprisingly a text message from the person in question. He narrowed his eyes at the text then hit the call button, it rang a few times before the call was picked up.

"If you want your pretty brunette back in one piece then meet us at The Mystic Grill, maybe we can settle some things and if you try anything funny. I'll make sure she won't see another light of day." The person on the other line hung up the call before Galen could even reply. 'Man, what's up with people hanging up on me today?' He internally rolled his eyes and updated Masen, he then reversed his car and headed towards the meeting location.

The Parlor, Mikaelson Mansion

The unconscious brunette lays peacefully on the sofa of the living room of the Mikaelsons' Mansion while the three Originals had kept their positions around the parlor. Kol was standing beside the sofa admiring the sleeping form of the girl—listening to her steady heartbeat to calm his nerves—still irritated at his brother for knocking her out cold, while Klaus on the other hand, sits across from her on the coffee table swirling his third round of bourbon around his glass. As for Rebekah, she occupied the armchair putting a bit of a distance from the girl just in case the little huntress wanted to attack her like what Kol had told her before Klaus had knocked the brunette out to detain her.

Their postures had become stilled as the brunette started to stir into consciousness, groaning as she reached at the back of her head rubbing the spot where Klaus had elbowed her. Her eyelids fluttered open as her eyes slowly focused on her surroundings, out of instincts she sat up abruptly with her back against the armrest of the sofa. Her brown eyes met with piercing dark blue-green ones making her tense as he smirks at her devilishly taking in her reaction to his presence. The powerful aura around him was unsettling to the young huntress, making her heart pick up a pace.

"Did you have a nice nap, love?" Klaus asked mockingly, he leaned closer as he rested his elbows against his knees, while his chin was on top of his folded hands as he examined her with his eyes roaming her form— in an instant, a light bulb seems to light up in the Hybrid's head as this girl's features match the mystery girl. "Wait a minute—you're the pretty girl from The Mystic Grill, a few weeks back, waiting for the amateur vampire hunter to have a drink with you at the bar," Klaus revealed his thoughts as his siblings listened carefully, his words made the young brunette stiffened. She didn't want Alaric to get mixed into all this, it's bad enough that he's in search of his wife, who had disappeared out of thin air, with her case remaining unsolved. 'Did he just say...amateur vampire hunter? Now that I didn't expect from Ric.' She thought to herself as she frowns at the Hybrid.

"Leave him out of this, he doesn't know about me, about this..." She answered the question that was left unsaid, she pivoted her body so that both of her feet were now touching the floor, mimicking Klaus' posture. "He's innocent, don't involve him in this mess." her words filled with nonchalance as she kept her unbothered facade in front of the Hybrid, even though her heart pacing was giving her uneasiness away. She wasn't scared, just disoriented due to a series of unexpected events that landed her in this mess.

"Oh sweetheart, he's already involved." Klaus mused as he leaned back and crossed his arms over his chest grinning at the widening of her brown eyes as the realization hit her features. "More involved than you already know, after all, he's out here slaying unwanted pests of the night that cross him and his little Scooby-Gang's paths... Just like you and your little hunter friends." He got up and walked towards her bending down a bit to wrap his hand around her chin, tilting her head back to look directly into her eyes as his eyes dilated due to compulsion. "You will tell me what your little friends are up to and don't leave anything out." He commanded in a low stern voice.

"I don't think so." It was her turn to smirk at his amused expression when his compulsion didn't work on her. He knew it was the case but he was an Original Hybrid so he thought his compulsion would be stronger and will break through whatever barrier is protecting her mind. He let go of her face and his fists clenching at his side as his patience was wearing thin. "I'd rather you kill me than to sell them out." she spat out her words dripping with venom.

"Still loyal even when they shot you down and got you captured." Klaus shook his head at the stubborn girl. "That's a pity and just sad. They betrayed you and you're still willingly withheld information. If anything you should be planning to avenge yourself, against them. They left you to die if you ask me I know a little thing or two about betrayal and a clear picture of it, little huntress." His eyes met with hers, the fire in her brown orbs spiked the curiosity in him.

Odette let out a humorless laugh as she shook her head at Klaus. "Connor is just a bad seed among the rest of them, oh, he'll get what's coming to him. After all, karma is a bitch..." Klaus gave her an amused smile, he wanted to see what she was capable of.

"You're really a tough cookie, aren't cha?" Kol spoke as he made his way towards her before deciding to accompany the space next to her on the sofa, she turned her gaze onto him as it softened a bit before returning to the emotionless mask. "We're not going to hurt you...if you comply. We just want to know why you guys decided to show up in this particular town, darling." Odette sighs, she had no other choice but to at least answer some of his questions. She felt herself relax when Kol's leg accidentally brushed against hers, sending slight electricity through her veins. Whatever that surge was, she'll make sure to keep her distance from this specific Original, he seems to be making her body react to him without her consent and she didn't like that one bit. She needed to be in control and not let him affect her. Odette let out an exasperated sigh then addressed his questioning.

"We were told this town is swarming with bloodsuckers and so we're here for the hunt, but what we didn't know is that we've hit the motherload. Considering you Originals are occupying this town…" She trails off as her eyes wander from Kol to Klaus then at Rebekah, who had kept a distance from her. "That's what hunters do, they hunt, they kill and they free the civilians from the reign of what bumps up the night…well in your case night and day."

"You want us to believe you and your whole group are only here for some hunting season." Klaus accused Odette as he had pulled out one of the bullets they'd acquired from the cell of the Salvatore boarding house basement. "Then explain this." He hands the wooden bullet to her and she cautiously takes it in her hands as he monitors her every action with his gaze.

"It's a regular wooden bullet with some fancy carvings that Connor loves to carve into them; he says it makes them look more intricate like he's own signature. A marking, like a known serial killer, would do for their victims...he's twisted like that." She replied, Klaus didn't sense any dishonesty from the girl, but he was still cautious of her due to her involvement with them. "Can I go now? I need to patch myself up, I know you want more answers out of me but what good will that be if I end up dead?" She gestures towards her body to where the bullet wounds were and the gash on her neck that was caused by Damon. The bleeding had stopped but she wanted to tend her injuries to prevent infection and wash away the dried blood that was caked around the wounds.

"Sorry darling, but we can't have you leaving our home...I'll escort you to your own room, for the time being," Kol spoke up when his siblings didn't acknowledge Odette's question. He gently placed his hand against her lower back as they both walked towards the foyer and he guided her away from the curious stares of his siblings and up the staircase and into the halls. He wasn't ready to acknowledge the strange feelings that have been erupting inside him since day one of meeting this pretty and feisty little brunette, at least not towards his siblings.

"I'm surprised you didn't object against Kol's decisions," Rebekah commented as she got up and sat down on the sofa that Kol and Odette once resided on. Klaus looks down at her sipping onto his bourbon and throws it back the rest of it before speaking to his dear little sister. "Kol made her talk when I couldn't, she can't seem to resist him and I find that an advantage for us. If that's the only way we can get answers out of her then so be it."

"So using our dear brother's infatuation towards this human girl as leverage? That's clever of you Niklaus, but I'm afraid you might face Kol's wrath eventually. I'll be watching when that happens." She smirks at her brother and questions his methods, he shrugs at her expression.

"It's nothing new to me, dear sister. I know how to handle Kol and his recklessness, so his wrath will be a walk in the park." He patted her shoulder before excusing himself from his study. He needed to make some calls, calls that would assist him in finding some information on the group that Odette is running with, as well as finding out what his elder brother is up to while he is not among them.

"Here we are," Kol announced as he opened the guest room door revealing the elegant setting that matches the rest of the Mikaelson Mansion. The room was filled with paintings and vintage style furniture, the canopy bed with light sheer curtains cascading from the bars that are being held by dark oaked pillars on each corner of the king-sized bed. Sheets in a light caramel tone, judging by their texture from under Odette's fingers they were soft Egyptian cotton sheets matching the fluffy pillow covers. She wanted to just jump into the soft bed and sleep the day away but she had to resist due to mister tall and handsome gracing her with his presence. Kol grins her way as he catches her checking him out and trying to play it off like it wasn't what she was doing. He was a cocky bastard and he knows how his appearances affect women around him.

"It's beautiful…" Odette started as she turned her attention away from Kol. "Everything about this room screams fancy vintage aesthetics." she murmurs as her eyes roam around the room taking in every object and structure around her. Kol let out soft chuckles at her comment. "You'll have to let my brother know how much you appreciate his taste for interior designs. He's the one who has helped renovate this place." Odette nodded her head and sat down on the bed with her feet dangling at the edge, she slightly rolled her shoulders loosening up the tension in her body.

Kol moved in front of her with a serious expression on his face, she stared directly into his eyes feeling a slight shiver go through her body making her react to his presence once more.

"Let me help you." His voice was sincere as he gestures towards her injuries. "It will heal a lot faster if you let me give you my blood." He suggested. She stares at him contemplating what he had suggested to her, she didn't want to trust him but something inside her is telling her that he was different from the rest. She mentally shook away those voices inside her head before reluctantly nodding her head to give him consent. Kol rolls up his left arm's long sleeve, his face changed into his vampiric facade, making Odette watch him in slight fascination as he bites down his own wrist and offers the bleeding wound towards her.

She scrunches her nose slightly as she felt a little dizzy from the scent of his blood and she pinches her nostrils together, making Kol chuckle at her before she used her other hand to hold onto his wrist as she drinks his blood taking a slow pull from it, his blood didn't taste as bad as she thought it would have been. It was like drinking warm hot cocoa with the rich flavor of chocolate in each consumption. Kol felt a good sensation go through him as Odette drank from him, a sensation he hadn't experienced before, it was a mixture of satisfaction and pleasure from her mouth touching his skin. When the wound closed up she licked the leftover blood off his wrist making Kol groan softly at how good her tongue felt against him.

"Darling...you better stop before I do something that you aren't ready for," Kol whispers into her ear as his breath sends involuntary shivers down her spine and the color red flushed against her cheeks. Her hooded eyes become hazy as her breathing picks up, her tongue peeking out her mouth as she licks her bottom lips involuntarily. She shakes her head and places her hand against his chest when their faces are inches from each other. "Don't…" She turned her face to block his lips from connecting with hers, as his lips touched her cheek. "I'm not that kind of girl." She told him before she got up from the bed and made her way across the room and into the ensuite bathroom across the other side of the room—locking the door behind her she slid against the door to hug her knees against her chest while burying her face into her arms.

Kol was left there stunned, at what just happened between them and his own thoughts lingering on what almost happened. They almost kissed. It was happening too fast, it was as if his body had a mind of their own guiding him to make decisions before his logical reasoning caught up with his actions. Their bodies gravitate towards each other, beyond their control—surely it's a recipe for disaster something Kol didn't anticipate when going near Odette. The only thing he could think of a reason that may be causing this unknown attraction would be the sweet aroma of her blood calling out to him. He hasn't smelt anything like it. He wonders to himself if his siblings are having the same effects from it.

After a while, Odette got up from her position from sitting on the cold floor to looking into the mirror assessing the image in front of her. A young woman who's staring right back at her with big doe-like eyes, dark circles around them, and pale white skin from the blood that was drained from her injuries. She removed her favorite black leather jacket and tossed it onto the floor followed by her tank top leaving her in her black lace bra. Her fingers trailing along with the sight where the wounds should have been if Kol didn't offer her his blood to heal. Blood was still caked onto it. She then unbuttoned her black skinny jeans and let it pool around her ankles before stepping out of it, while she is in only her matching bra and panties. She kicked off her combat boots and removed her socks before deciding to go completely naked and take a nice hot shower while she's going to be staying trapped in this luxurious mansion with the rest of the Originals, she might as well take a long hot shower.

When she finishes showering, she exits the bathroom and finds clothes neatly folded on the bed. 'Well, it's better than wearing blood-soaked ones. I wouldn't want to sleep in those.' She thought to herself, quickly getting dressed into some dark skinny jeans and long black long-sleeves that she assumes was clothes from the blonde Original. Odette went back to the bathroom to retrieve her leather jacket but when she entered it was nowhere to be found so she turned around and found herself facing the Hybrid once more, letting out a tiny gasp.

"Looking for this?" Klaus smirks at her a few distances away from outside of the bathroom.

"I knew we couldn't leave you alone for so long. If you're planning to use these on us, then you're a foolish girl." He chided her as he waves the vervain syringes at her, then he crushed them in his hands, destroying the little hope she had of escaping. He then blurred towards her, pinning her between the wall and his body. He leans towards her face just a few inches from hers. He was trying to intimidate her, bringing his hand to softly caress her flushed cheeks that were already reddened from her shower. "Such a pretty little thing that you are…" Klaus steps back admiring her like she was a work of art.

"What are you doing?" Kol asked as he appeared next to them and slightly pushed Klaus back to give Odette some space between them. "Leave her alone, Nik. I'll be the one handling her." His serious stare set on his older brother, Klaus held up his hands in defense and walked away with a grin plastered on his face. He likes to get under Kol's skin at times. It was fascinating to him to see his little brother getting all worked up over a human girl. It was a challenge he is willing to take. 'Oh, this is going to be fun.'

"Are you okay?" Kol turned to check on Odette, silently looking for signs of injuries on her while in his calm demeanor. She nods her head at him. "Is he always…" "An arse. Yes." He finishes for her. "No, I meant creepy." She corrected him. He gently takes her hand in his and leads her out the bathroom and to the bed. "Get some sleep, If you have any concerns or questions. I'll be happy to answer them tomorrow. Don't worry about Nik, I'll get him off your back." Kol assured her he let go of her hand, walking towards the door he was halted by Odette's question.

"Why are you being nice to me? I tried to kill you…" She looked at him with confusion in her face. He turns around to respond. "Oh darling, you can't kill me...even if you tried." He smirks at her and walks out the door. The cocky Kol was back making Odette roll her eyes at his swift departure. 'Whatever they're planning to do, I need to find a way out and fast.' She didn't like to feel trapped especially in the company of three very powerful beings.

Odette quietly walks over to the window, sliding it open before sticking her head out of it. It was still the darkness of the night assuming she was passed out for only a couple of hours before waking up in front of the Mikealsons. She exams the distances between the window and ground below her, she's currently on the second floor, and falling from this height would definitely break any bones of her body from the impact. So, she made a quick decision to use the sheets from the bed as her rope to help her guide her way down tying each end of the sheets together making it long enough to touch the ground while the starting end of it is securely tied to the bedpost.

Due to her small and slender frame, she was able to fit through the window but not before wrapping the sheets around her waist to secure her against the side of the mansion wall. She began to make her way down keeping both her feet planted on the wall, as she kept a good pace lowering herself slowly down until her feet touched the ground. She gasps when her back touched a body behind her and that person wrapped their arms around her waist.

"Oh, you sneaking little cat, don't think I don't know what you're up to by now." Odette looks up and sees Kol staring down at her with his infamous smirk on his face with clear mirth in his brown eyes. "Just for that, you're sleeping in my room tonight." He gently picks her up while unwrapping the sheets from her waist and placing her over his shoulders. She sighed in defeat and lets Kol carry her back into the mansion.

'You got to be kidding me. How the hell am I going to get out of here?'
