Barry found himself in a peculiar situation that morning, when he first woke up he didn't think of much actually, the only thought that was going through his head was of how comfortable he was, and that he was glad, for the first time in a while, he didn't have a nightmare about Zoom, so with that thought he decided to get a few more minutes of sleep whilst they his dreams were peaceful cause he knew that wouldn't last.

He awoke 30 minutes later, this time forcing his eyes open, Barry quickly realized he was using Kara's chest as a pillow, as soon as he noticed he tried to use his arms to push himself up, only to give Kara a hug as there was no surface under Kara to push off of, he quickly looked past Kara and found them to be hovering a good 6-7ft above the sofa, his next plan was to roll off of her, he knew it would be a hard landing but he thought better that than the awkwardness of what would happen if he stayed on top of her, even if he did find it comfy, again his plans were thwarted, Barry didn't realize that Kara was hugging him in her sleep, it wasn't a tight hug but with Kara's super strength it was near impossible to get out of without phasing, but with his speed not working at the moment he had no choice but to accept his fate.

Barry just led there listing to Kara's heart witch he found to be quite soothing, it had been about an hour since he's been awake and he started seeing the sun come through the windows as the sun rose, a moment later Kara started to stir, or that's what he thought but nope, instead of awaking Kara hugged Barry a bit tighter and brought him closer to her face, Barry blushed at this and argued with himself about if he should wake Kara up, before he decided on an answer he was stopped by Kara nuzzling into the crook of his neck, it wasn't until she started to lick his neck that he decided on an answer, "Kara… KARA! Time to wake up" Barry noticed Kara opening her eyes and sighed in relief.

Kara could hear someone calling her, asking her to wake up, as she awoke she found herself to be warm, not in a bad way, in away that called her back to sleep, so before answering she snuggled further into this source of heat "five more minutes" she muttered almost breathlessly, however she was forced to open her eyes when she heard a quick intake of breath that didn't come from her, she opened her eyes to find Barry Allen not even a mere 5 centimeters away from her face, "oh hi Barry" she greeted as she woke up, it took her a few seconds to notice how close they were due to her tiredness, she woke up rapidly when she did notice, all at once she started to notice how their noses almost touched, how his breath was tickling her cheek and the one that made her face flash all shades of red, she noticed how she was hugging him, in a quick panicked she stopped flying and at the same time pulled her arms away from Barry.

Both Kara and Barry dropped out of the air and onto the sofa, the latter of the two, not having the support of Kara's arms around him anymore ,bounced off of Kara as they landed, and proceeded to land on the floor with a loud crash, Kara heard a faint "ow" escape Barry's lips and felt extremely guilty, she looked at Barry as she replied and saw him rubbing his bottom, "oh Rao, I'm so sorry, I got a bit flustered, I didn't exactly expect to wake up next to you, not that I minded it" realizing what she had just said she blushed and began to ramble "I don't mean I'd like to wake up next to you, I mean it's not that I wouldn't, your very handsome, what I mean is" she took a breath as she saw Barry's amused smile, she took this time to collect herself before continuing "and I was rambling, all I meant was I'm not use to waking up next to anyone, actually I've never woken up next to anyone, well accept Alex, when we were kids." By time Kara had managed to say what she wanted her face was already the same color as her cape.

Barry stood there amused with Kara's antics, and if he was going to be honest to himself, he found it kind of cute, amongst other things he had to admit he couldn't help the flutter his heart did when Kara called him handsome. When Kara rambling's came to a stop, he managed to chuckle out his reply "it's okay Kara I understand, I was shocked when I woke up also, but where you were asleep I managed to collect myself, if you were awake I'd of been in a similar state", he admitted.

Kara finally managed to calm her beating heart and sat on the sofa after a few minutes she noticed Barry was still on the floor in the same position to where he landed, she gave Barry an amused look which he returned with a confused look, Kara couldn't help the giggle that came out at his antics, she then proceeded to pat the sofa next to her, Barry got the message and proceeded to get off the floor and sat next to Kara, Barry and Kara was just casually chatting when Barry directed her attention to the tv which was showing Supergirl's heroics of the previous evening, she quickly blushed when Barry jokingly called her "my hero," Kara proceeded to playfully punch Barry in the arm before muttering "don't make me throw you in to space"

After a few minutes of watching the news in a comfortable silence, Kara disappeared into the kitchen without saying a word, Barry was about to get up and follow her, but before he could she returned with, the left over pizza from last night, "pizza for breakfast, I like the way you think girl of steel.

Kara looked at Barry with a look of confusion on her face "girl of steel? Where did you here that from?" she didn't mind being called it, but how did Barry know what some people call her, he's only been here for about a week.

Barry however didn't answer her, he did however proceed to point at the tv with the news still playing with the heading, girl of steel saves the day again, Kara formed an o shape in understanding, "that makes more sense, I thought you looked me up, it would have been cute if you became my fan" she teased

Kara came and handed Barry a slice of pizza as she rejoined him on the sofa, after Barry's first bite he decided to join in with the banter "oh I did look you up" he waited to see Kara's reaction, when he looked at her she was paused mid bite as it had token her of guard, but her eyes were beaming with curiosity so he continued "yeah needed to find out if you could handle being my side kick after all" as he finished he took another bite of his pizza.

Kara couldn't help snorting at this, she playfully glared at Barry as a brilliant idea popped into her head, as Barry was eating his pizza she gently blew in his direction, not enough to freeze anything but enough to make the pizza ice cold. Barry looked at Kara confused before taking another bite, this time it was Kara's turn to laugh as Barry's face distraught in disgust, with her super hearing she heard Barry mutter "not fair" under his breath, she gave Barry another slice before stating "I'm no one's sidekick." They fell back into a comfortable silence as they eat, as Kara had finished her last slice, she sparked up another conversation, "so how did you sleep" she curiously asked.

Barry gave her a gentle and genuine smile "to be fair, probably the best night's sleep I've had since I got here, I guess that's thanks to you."

Kara was confused, what does he mean thanks to me? I Haven't done anything, after a few seconds of silence she voiced her thoughts " your welcome, but I really haven't done anything" she then gave Barry a playful punch on the shoulder before continuing "unless you're talking about me throwing you on the floor this morning, which I'd more than be happy to do again" she finished with a playful smirk plastered on her face.

Barry deciding to join in on the banter continued from where Kara left of "oh will you now, trust me when I get my speed back it will be your ass that will be firmly planted on the floor" they both chuckled at this, Barry couldn't believe how easy it was to be himself around Kara, it always felt like he was trying to be someone else when he was with Iris, it made him question if what he really felt for her was love at all, quickly getting back on topic he begins to explain why he was thankful " okay let's get back to the point, since I've gotten here, I've been for lack of a better world locked in the DEO, like I don't hate it there, but have you tried starting a conversation with them it's like talking to robots, and with all that spare time I suddenly found myself with, I kept always going over the events of what happened with Zoom, and how I couldn't protect my city. Then you'd come and visit me, you sat with me, heard what I had to say, it truly meant a lot to me, it made me excited for tomorrow to come just so I could talk to you again, and I guess being here with you last night relived most of the stress I built up, so Kara Danvers thank you… or Kara Zor-El which is your alien name, which I find very cool" Barry decided to put a lighthearted end to his sentence as he didn't want the take out of this to be too serious, he's already came to terms of what happened and decided to train a lot harder from now on, but he did want Kara to understand how much her company has made a difference to him.

Kara put her now empty plate on the table, and gave Barry a hug which he happily returned, she pulled away with an almost blinding smile "aww Barry I was always excited about visiting you too, I'm glad, I thought maybe I might have been a bother coming to see you every night" Kara paused for a couple of seconds almost like she was making a decision, before continuing almost in a shout "I got it! You're staying here from now on, I'll take the couch and you can have my bed"

Barry was shocked with what Kara had just said, he however couldn't stop the smile that came to his face "Kara are you sure? I mean we've only just met, how do you know you can trust me?" he was happy that Kara seemed to trust him, but with what happened with the reverse flash he also knew the trouble of trusting someone, let alone someone who she's just met.

Kara's smile never left her face as she shushed Barry so she could talk "of course I'm sure, I believe that I'm an excellent judge of character" there was a slight pause "well there's that and when we first met I was listening to your heart beat which proved you were telling the truth" Kara continued with a wink towards Barry. With that said Kara looked at her watch and realized it was about time she got ready for work, she was going to let Barry know, but when she looked at him, she saw him gaping at her, she couldn't help but giggle, she then proceeded to get up and almost skip towards her room leaving a gaping Barry behind her.

Kara had dropped Barry of at the Deo so he wasn't stuck In her apartment with nothing to do, and the Doctors at the DEO were also trying to see if they could get Barry's speed to work, she arrived at work early that day which she haven't managed to do for a couple of weeks, it wasn't until about 11 when the news started going on about the hacker, and how it's now a cyber war.

Winn was leaning against a desk next to Kara's and decided to voice out loud the threat this could have "if this hacker isn't stopped soon, we're looking at a worldwide economic collapse" from the looks on everyone's face Kara could tell everyone got the message and knew she needed to beat this hacker and quick

Cat Grant however managed to take the room's attention as soon as she strolled into the room "relevant people in my office now" she demanded, and when Cat Grant asks for something, you don't question it.

Kara was the last one to enter the room, just as she gave Ms. Grant her attention, she started talking "national cities entire infrastructure has been breached by a cyber terrorist attack, and nobody knows why they're doing it, or who, or when they will strike again" Kara didn't have an answer to any of the points Cat addressed and it frustrated her, she wanted to eliminate this threat as soon as possible, but with little to know information all she could do was wait.

Lucy began speaking which knocked Kara out of her thoughts "I've spoken to my contacts at the pentagon, military intelligence is all over this" Kara knew Cat wouldn't care about what the military is doing, as Bossy as Cat was, Kara knew she had the best interest for national city, it's why she suspects Cat is as bossy as she is, when someone attacks her home, she's not someone who is going to sit around and wait for the cops or even the military handle it, she will find out what's going on with her own power, Kara had guessed that's why she admired her so much, she was a strong willed woman and Kara respected that.

Cat spoke up once again "this is about national city. Our home is under attack, and we have no idea how this is going to end." She paused and then turned towards James "James Olsen" James immediately replied Kara guessed he knew not to keep Cat Grant waiting "yes Ma'am", Kara turned her attention back to Cat she could of swore she saw her glare for half a second "first, never call me Ma'am, this is not the old west, and second, circle the wagons, we are going to put every investigative team we have on this, freelancers too, we identify the hacker, we end this," she turned towards Siobhan "and you, get my investment broker on the phone."

Kara had to admit it hurt when it wasn't her, she turned to, but when she saw Siobhan, who stood there almost frozen decided to help her out with a little bit of a stutter "I… I'll get him right away Ms. Grant" even though she didn't like Siobhan she still didn't like to see her get embarrassed in front of the whole office, she hoped she would see that Kara was trying to help her and not further her embarrassment.

After the meeting James walked with Lucy to his office, before he could say anything Lucy was already speaking "so where do you wanna start? My security clearance may be back down to that of a mere civilian, but I have senior analyst at Langley who owes me a favor"

As Lucy was talking James was already packing his bags and trying to come up with a feasible excuse to ditch Lucy "actually I was just gonna head out and run down some old contacts I had" throughout this whole exchange James tried not to look at Lucy as he thought she would know he's lying.

Lucy started pacing, trying to word the next few words carefully, but her tone gave away her suspiciousness "any one I know?"

James continued packing his bag and avoiding eye contact "no" he stated simply

This time Lucy decided not to hide her suspiciousness "any one in a cape?" she was getting a bit annoyed how James haven't looked at her once since they entered this room.

It was at this point James knew he couldn't keep avoiding her and decided to look at her hoping this would ease her suspicions "Luce" he didn't get to say anymore as he was interrupted.

Lucy looked at the floor as she continued to speak "why is it your first instinct is to work this with Supergirl and not me?"

James looked down and then back up at Lucy "I'm sorry, I know things have been crazy, and your right, let's work this case together and then get food at Noonan's"

Lucy looked at James and smiled "thank you, it really means a lot, but we can skip Noonan's, since we're in the middle of a major investigation" she was about to walk away when James grabbed her hand.

"we still got to eat, don't we?" he asked with hope in his eyes "plus It will be fun" James had to admit, he was going to ditch Lucy to work with Kara, but something seemed off, lately there been none of that awkward flirting thing that he had to admit he was beginning to like, and she been talking about this Barry character a lot, James refused to believe he was jealous, but in recent events he decided there and then to give Lucy a proper chance of this relationship working, so no more blowing her off.

Lucy turned around and placed a kiss on James's cheek and then strolled to the door intent on getting her stuff, she only glanced over her shoulder for a second to state " meet me out front in ten" without giving James a chance to answer, she was out the office.

Kara walked past Lucy as Lucy exited James office, she noticed how much happier Lucy seemed and couldn't help but be curious, she walked into James's office and addressed her curiosity, "so Lucy seems happy"

James who was facing his desk sorting out his bag, turned and faced Kara "yeah I promised to work this case with her" there was an awkward pause, "so this means I probably won't be able to help you."

Kara smiled at James, and she couldn't believe how genuine it was, Kara herself hasn't realized she was forming a crush on someone else, so her affection for James had been slowly decreasing, "no, I'm happy for you, you deserve to be happy, don't worry me, Winn has got this handled, if anything happens I will call" with that said Kara walked out the room missing the frown on James's face.

Kara was sat on her sofa whilst Winn was mumbling to himself. She was thinking she should of got Barry a phone or something so they could keep in contact, she wanted to know how he was, and if there was any improvement in his powers, it was at this point Winn mumbling got on her nerves, "Winn you've been mumbling to yourself for about an hour now"

Without taking his eyes of his laptop he retorted "not mumbling, okay. I'm writing code it just helps to say it out loud" as Winn was speaking Kara had gotten up and stood behind him.

"All right, Winn, what is happening" Kara stated, Winn almost jumped out his seat not expecting Kara to be stood behind him.

Winn re-adjusted himself and glanced at Kara "all right, okay, look, this hacker, she has created what's called an oscillating variable matrix to cover her footprints, diabolical would not be an inappropriate word choice for her" he ended with a sigh

Kara could sense a but coming and continued to ask "but?"

Winn continued for her "but, I have created an inversion path pathway" he couldn't help but smirk as he said that part "which will, um, hopefully lead me to wherever she's hiding, I mean she could be, for all we know, organizing these attacks from the other side of the globe" Winn was shocked when a voice came out of the computer saying "no" he quickly glanced to Kara and then back to the screen.

Kara was almost glaring at the screen when the hacker's face popped up on it, but decided to let her finish what she was saying "just on the other side of your screen, you know your fairly clever for an ape" she addressed the last part to Winn

Winn even though he was very freaked out decided to reply, "and you are freaking me out for an evil blond computer face." The evil blond computer face decided to reply, "then let's talk in person."

It was this moment Kara decided to join the conversation "name the time and place" Kara couldn't help be confused when the hacker said "how about now" she wasn't confused for long however when she started materializing in her living room.

"Supergirl" was the only word the hacker said as a greeting when she came out of the screen, only now she wasn't a blond, now she was an orange haired, blue alien with 3 glowing red dots on her head, in the formation of a triangle. The alien continued after a brief pause "what exactly makes you so super?"

Kara ignored what the alien had said, too focused on the symbol on her head "that symbol, I've seen it before" Kara was trying not to look scared she knew this alien was dangerous, she's heard story's about this species back on krypton.

Indigo walked closer to Kara, "it's a sign of my people, the font of omniscient knowledge, I know everything about you"

Kara didn't stop glaring at her as she spoke and before Kara could reply Winn beat her to it "what are you, some kind of living internet?" Kara could tell Winn was scared, as he asked his question, he involuntarily took a step back and his hands were grasping his tie nervously.

Indigo director her attention toward Winn, she wouldn't usually address apes but this one proved to be quite smart so decided to entertain him "you might call me that" without giving anyone time to react she punched Kara in the chest and straight out her window, showing of that she wasn't just smart but powerful as well.

Kara had to admit that punch surprised her, she quickly shook of her surprise and flew back into the room and ripped open her shirt showing of the house of El symbol, she noticed she had Winn by the neck gently rubbing her sharp metal nails across his face.

Indigo looked at Supergirl with a smirk, "so what should I do with him? Maybe I should skin him?" Indigo was taken by surprise when the door behind burst open.

From the door both Hank and Alex emerge with their guns raised, they both run towards Indigo, with Hank yelling " hold it right there, hold it right there" he repeated for emphasis, both Alex and Hank never took their guns off of indigo, as they moved closer.

Indigo snarls at Winn and throws him to the floor she then materialized back into the computer as her odds of winning this fight was dwindling.

Winn sighed in relief at the sight of both Hank and Alex and could not help but mutter "thank god we have a personal black ops unit" he was so glad that was over.

Kara was only slightly glaring at Hank, she stormed pass him, knowing full right he'd follow her, as she reached the hallway of her apartment she was about to accuse Hank of following her, but before she could she saw Barry leaning against the wall slightly sulking, she ignored why he was sulking for now and exclaimed excitedly "Barry, what are you doing here?" she didn't let him answer straight away as she went to hug him.

After there short hug Barry finally answered her question "well I managed to track a wi-fi signal from the computers controlling the traffic lights and there was something else embedded in the signal, something alien and it led us here, and without my speed I asked Hank and Alex for a lift which they grudgingly agreed to", Kara saw a slight sulk return to his face when he said the following part "though they benched me as soon as I got here, saying it was too dangerous, come on I'm the Flash, I've seen danger before!"

Kara was going to reply to Barry when Hank continued from where Barry left of " and if we can isolate that alien signal we might just be able to track this back to our hacker and stop her from causing anymore harm"

Kara didn't look at Hank but replied to him none the less maybe a bit snappier than she had meant "well maybe you should get a team on that then?" she turned her attention back to Barry so how have your day been, any progress on getting your speed back?" throughout saying this she led Barry back into her apartment leaving Hank and Alex in the hallway.

Hank sighed and looked at Alex, he could see in her eyes that she was begging him to let her tell Kara the truth but he just shook his head and muttered "come on, we got a hacker to find"

Back in Kara's apartment both Barry and Kara had forgot about Winn being there, Barry was continuing there conversation from the hallway " yeah it's been, interesting to say the least, no one seems to really like me there, though I feel Alex and Hank is starting to warm up to me, well Alex is, it's kind of hard to read Hank" Barry could see that Kara didn't want to talk about Hank and quickly got to the second part of her question " no, no progress, they say I should be fine, there's nothing physically wrong"

Kara was listening intently to Barry, she did not want to talk about anything to do with the DEO and Hank, so she only addressed the latter part of his speech, "so then it's something mental" she asked curiously. She felt bad for Barry she hadn't been superhero long, but she couldn't imagine losing her powers, and she also was excited to team up.

Before Barry could continue with there conversation Winn spoke up "I think I'm a head home I've had too much life-threatening fun for one night" with that said he walked out of the apartment.

Before Winn was down the end of the corridor Kara poked her head out the door, "thanks for tonight Winn, see you in work tomorrow" Kara was a bit embarrassed that she forgot about Winn, just so much had happened tonight and she was too eager to catch up with Barry that he kind of slipped her mind.

Barry looked at the door where Winn left "wait there was someone else in here, I didn't even notice" he then proceeded to remember what Kara had just called him "wait that was Winn, damn I should of thanked him for the other night, and formally introduce myself, he reminds me of my best friend, so I think we will get on great"

Kara gently chuckled, "don't worry you will get your chance soon enough, I will invite you to our next game nights, they are always a lot of fun"

Barry looked over the scene and noticed the state of her living room "she sure left a mess" he looked at Kara sympathetically, it always sucked when you get attacked in a place you thought was safe, but Kara didn't seem to bothered by it, probably cause she's indestructible.

Kara looked at Barry and shrugged it off, she quickly used her superspeed around the room and cleaned up all the broken glass, "what mess?" she said as she smirked at Barry, "though it is a bit late to get someone to repair my window today, so I will have to call them tomorrow". Kara went into her room and got into her pajamas before coming out and noticing Barry stood there awkwardly, she gave him a confused look.

Barry noticed Kara's confused look and decided to answer it, "so" he started, before he continued, he looked at the window, "maybe I should stay at the DEO tonight", Barry saw Kara's sad look and then gestured to the window "I don't think it's feasible for me to sleep here with a massive hole in the wall" he may of over exaggerated the end of the statement.

Kara looked sad she didn't want Barry to go back to the DEO, she was playing with the idea of saying they could share the bed, but her common sense kicked in, she had not known Barry that long, and she didn't want to ruin their blossoming friendship by being too forward, though she did have another bright idea, she beamed back at Barry "ok".

Barry was confused, when he first said it she looked disappointed, but after awhile it turned to a bright smile, it confused him, he did not expect her to come out with a single word, but he just replied with that same word "ok".

Kara flew Barry to the DEO with a comfortable silence in the air, they both just enjoyed the flight, Kara wasn't flying fast and they were both enjoying the lights of the city below, from the height they were at they looked like stars in the sky, it was a beautiful flight and they were both disappointed when it came to an end.

Barry sat in his room at the DEO with Kara standing at the door, "so I guess this is goodnight" he was kind of sad that he had to sleep here again, in the day it was brimming with people so he didn't mind, but at night it was eerily quiet, and it kind of freaked him out, he was even more disappointed when Kara just replied "yep" with a smile on her face and walked off, he assumed she was heading home, he felt disheartened that she didn't say bye.

Barry was shocked when 5 minutes later Kara walked back into his room, he was about to say something when he noticed her carrying a med bed under her arm, he was still trying to get use to her strength, he was to shocked at the image of Kara to say anything

Once Kara placed her bed next to Barry's she smirked at him "did you really think I'd leave without saying bye? Plus, you said you didn't like sleeping here alone, so I thought I'd join you" Kara couldn't stop the smile that came across her face as Barry's mirrored hers.

Barry was shocked at the kindness of this woman, it almost brought a tear to his eye, almost, he couldn't stop nor want to stop the smile coming over his face, no one really ever went out of there way to make sure he was okay, it was always him having to be the strong one, the one to protect everyone, he had to admit this was nice, and he swore to himself then that when he'd got his powers back he'd help Kara protect National city until he found away home. "thanks Kara" was all he managed to get out, and it was enough.

Kara looked at Barry who was now getting into bed "your welcome Barry", Kara proceeded to get into bed as well as it was nearing midnight and she needs to be up early in the morning, before trying to get to sleep she turned towards Barry, she waited for Barry to notice her, and once he did, he did the same and turned towards her, she smiled at him "good night Barry"

Barry smiled back and returned the gesture "good night Kara."

Sorry that it took so long for an update, I have recently been taken of furlough and is back to work, with doing a IT course and work, I'm struggling to get into a good routine, but I'm not going to stop writing this story I'm just going to take a bit longer to write each chapter
