The scene soon opened to Wyndon Stadium as a packed stadium of fans were screaming as entering the main stadium was Leon himself.
"Hello there. You know, with Chairman Rose gone and me taking over as the chairman...I've had many different thoughts about where I want to take Galar. I witnessed how the most recent champion, Alice Wright aka Titanica, became champion by finding a rival in my brother Hop along with other rivals like Marnie, David and Bede. That's when it's hit me. She got stronger by working with others. So...let me just say...the Galarian Star Tournament...is on"! He said as the crowd cheered. "Let me explain the rules. The tournament will be a multi battle format. There will be eight pairs with two trainers in each pair. Each trainer is only allowed to use three Pokémon in battle. Winners of this tournament will earn these prizes...1 million dollars, a vast number of Pokéballs...and also...this!" he said revealing a large destroyer class ship. "This ship used to serve as the base for the Universal Villains but has since been hacked and sold. We're offering it as the main prize to the victors. So...satisfied yet?" he asked as the crowd roared.
"Wow. They're holding Flux's old ship as a prize?" Roy said.
"Yep...that's definitely it. I recognize that black paint job anywhere." Jexi said.
"Wow, I thought after a lot of time had passed it would've been in the scrapyard." Al said.
"Well, with the Universal Villains disbanded after that mass breakout, I suppose it was only a matter of time before someone discovered it." Cheetah said.
"I wonder how Leon found it or even got his hands on it? Didn't it sink in the Ocean Universe and became the Elements' base?" Hope asked.
"And after it rose, it was taken by enemies of the old coalition, it was stolen by Normal after, it was left somewhere in the worlds, someone probably found it and it was passed from hand to hand until it ended up right here. But, that's just my guess." Rainbow said.
"Still, this might be dangerous. Flux hid a lot of experiments, weapons and other projects aboard that ship." Ichiro said. "Someone with bad intentions could enter the tournament and try to claim it."
"Like... who? It's just us here." David said.
"Yeah. And the only bad intention anyone would have would be crashing it into a mountain for kicks." Jexi said.
"I don't know… but it would be best if we keep our eye out for anyone evil." Siege said.
"Hmm...Cheetah...you still don't have a ship yet, right?" Jexi said.
"Not at the moment, no. The Archangel was only a temporary transport to get here and meet you all." Cheetah said.
"Then this could be the one for you. I mean whoever wins, you would still get the ship." Simon said.
"Her reps would still have to beat all of us to win it outright, though." David said.
"So? We already have ships. We can just give it to her no matter who wins." Jexi said.
"Well...enough with the talking...let's introduce our pairs! Pair one is...David Ishihara and Sectonia!" Leon said.
"Like there was any doubt the two of us wouldn't be paired up." Sectonia said. "You and I are Hoenn's Co-Champions. And so much more."
"That's right. We are the ultimate dynamic duo. When the two of us are fighting together, we're unstoppable!" David said.
"Now we welcome Pair 2...Starlight Glimmer and Mayumi Kirishima!" Leon said.
"The heroes of Alola are ready to fight." Starlight said.
"I just hope they're ready. Because we're giving this everything we've got." Mayumi said.
"Now...Pair 3 is ready to play. We have Cheetah and Jexi." Leon said.
"I know we're not normally teamed up but we are new on the Pokémon tournament stuff." Jexi said.
"Still, this is quite the interesting pairing. What made you choose me as your partner?" Cheetah asked.
"David trusts you so I guess I do too." Jexi said. "Plus I wanted to get some experience here."
"I guess I cannot deny that. I'm hoping to see how this pair plays out." Cheetah said.
"Pair 4...Simon Neptune and Dan Kuso!" Leon said.
"Heh...two Kantonian Champions here to play." Dan said.
"Let's give the people a hell of a show." Simon said.
"Pair 5! We have Twilight Sparkle of Alola and Leia Rolando of Unova!" Leon said.
"I am so pumped up for this! You ready?" Leia asked.
"Definitely." Sci-Twi said.
"Now...pair six is...Richard and Kaguya!" Leon announced.
Richard turned towards Kaguya, who was smiling brightly, before he then smiled back gently.
"Well, looks like you're working with me, Kaguya. Truly lucky, ain't it?" Richard asked her.
"Yep. You won't mind borrowing me…" Kaguya asked gently.
"Not like you don't know how to Poké-battle, and since the gijinkas are familiar with you… I suppose they'll be better in your hands than mine for this tourney." Richard responded back, unclasping his gijinka Pokémon's Poké-balls off and handing them over. "Besides, I have a bit of a team myself."
"Pair seven will be Siege Sukui and Kiana Kaslana!" Leon announced.
"You got this Kiana!" Mei said.
"Yep!" Kiana said with a smile.
"We'll try and win for you, Allison and Mei!" Siege said.
"And our final pair….Our Champion Titanica and Hope the Victor." Leon announced.
The crowd cheered for its champion as she came out. Hope was beside her, and although the people of Galar didn't know it, he was more than just her partner.
"I'm really happy I get to participate in my first Pokémon Battle tournament. Even more so with you." Hope said. "What Leon said about you before, it really made me proud."
"Thanks." Titanica smiled.
"Okay...let's start with….our first match! We have...David and Sectonia vs Mayumi and Starlight!" Leon said.
"Well, well, well… Here we are again. Facing off in the first round, and honored to be in the opening match." David said.
"You've got that right. To tell you the truth...I've kind of been jealous of the both of you for a while now. If I had the strength to defy fate like you did, then maybe…" Mayumi started.
"Are you still hung up about Aimi? Come on… You know she wouldn't want to see you like this." David said.
(Cue- Silver Will (Super Arrange)- Trails in the Sky)
"I know. But still… I didn't expect much from myself, but after being a runner-up in the Perfect Link Tournament, and getting a gold medal in Shooting, I feel like I really am starting to come into my own. That's why...I'm coming at this with the best team I've got!" Mayumi said.
"Wow… She's much more fired up about this than usual." Sectonia said.
"Yeah." Starlight said. "But...let's not beat around the bush any longer."
"Trainers...send out your first Pokémon!" the ref said.
"Okay...let's do this! Go, Tsareena!" Starlight said.
"Let's go, Salazzle!" Mayumi said.
"Let's start this off right. Let's do this, Mightyena!" David said.
"You're first up, Ariados!" Sectonia said.
"Let's do it right. Tsareena, attack Mightyena with Trop Kick!" Starlight said.
"Salazzle, time for a Fire Blast on Ariados!" Mayumi said.
"Now, Cross Poison on Tsareena!" Sectonia said.
"Dark Pulse, target that Salazzle!" David said.
All four Pokémon attacked their targets. Tsareena's kick landed only for it to get hit by Ariados's Cross Poison but Ariados was then hit by Salazzle as Salazzle dodged the Dark Pulse.
"Now, follow that up with a Dragon Pulse!" Mayumi said.
"It's probably not going to do much, but… Pin Missile that Tsareena!" Sectonia said.
"Try to catch that Salazzle by surprise with Dig." David said.
"Tsareena!" Starlight said as Tsareena took the hit for Salazzle as damage was dealt to her before fainting. "You did well, Tsareena. Return! Go, Toucannon!" she said swapping her Pokémon.
"Thanks for the save. Now, get some revenge with Sludge Bomb!" Mayumi said.
Salazzle lobbed a glob toxic Sludge at Mightyena.
"Toucannon, hit Ariados with Beak Blast!" Starlight called.
The Beak Blast hit its mark as Ariados was taken out quickly.
"Nice work, Ariados. Leave the rest to us." Sectonia said as she swapped out Ariados for Camerupt. "Now, nail them with Rock Slide!"
"Toucannon, Rock Smash!" Starlight said as Toucannon tried to smash as many rocks as possible with its beak but still took some damage from the attack.
"Did I forget to mention that Rock Slide isn't single-target?" Sectonia asked.
Salazzle was taking on a number of hits from the attack before Mightyena came up from the ground and struck.
"Ouch… Sorry about that, Salazzle. Leave the rest to us." Mayumi said as she returned Salazzle. "Time to bring in the big guns. Let's go, Palkia!"
"Palkia...if I recall...that was the Pokémon from when you battled Cyrus." Starlight said.
"That's right. But when I defeated him, Cyrus released Palkia to parts unknown. As if by mere coincidence, I happened to find one while we were in the Dynamax Adventures." Mayumi said.
"But...is that the same one?" David asked.
"No idea. But...still thought it would be nice to have a reminder of that time." Mayumi said.
"Well...glad it's on our side. Now let's try and turn the tides." Starlight said. "Toucannon, attack Mightyena with Drill Peck!"
"Water Pulse on Camerupt!" Mayumi said.
"Finish that Toucannon off with a bang with Rock Tomb!" Sectonia said.
"Whittle down Palkia with Shadow Ball!" David said.
While Toucannon was dealt a big blow and taken out by Rock Tomb, the Shadow Ball did little to no damage to Palkia.
"Return." Starlight said. "Okay….I'm gonna show everyone here...how we kick it! Alola Style! Go, Raichu!" she said, sending out her Alolan Raichu.
"Let me get that Camerupt out of the way for you. Aqua Tail!" Mayumi said.
Palkia took out Camerupt with a super effective Water type attack, returning to Sectonia.
"Down to my last Pokémon. I can't have him carry the weight for me all the time." Sectonia said as she sent out Latias.
"Here we go. Raichu, attack with Thunderbolt!" Starlight said as Raichu fired a thunderbolt at Latias.
"That's not going to do much. Dragonbreath!" Sectonia said.
"Don't forget about me. Keep that Raichu on its toes with Crunch!" David said.
"I've heard enough from you, boy." Mayumi said. "Palkia, Aqua Tail!" she called out as Palkia smacked Mightyena with its tail and took it out.
"Leave the rest to us." David said, returning Mightyena. "Time to fight water with water. Let's go, Milotic! Dragon Pulse!"
"Not good! Evade!" Starlight said as Raichu surfed on the edge of the Dragon Pulse's energy. "Now counter with Psychic!" she said as Raichu attacked Milotic with psychic energy. "Mayumi, could use a little back up here!"
"I'm on it. Spacial Rend!" Mayumi said.
"I'm not giving you the chance. Shadow Claw!" Sectonia said.
Both attacks collided with one another as it forced both Pokémon back.
"What could they be planning? She would have known...Ah! Mayumi! It's a trap!" Starlight said as Milotic got close to Palkia.
"Now, nail them with Disarming Voice!" David said.
"A Fairy Type attack." Starlight as the attack did moderate damage to Raichu, it make massive damage on Palkia as it soon fell to the ground. "Dang it."
"David… From the very beginning, you were amazing. I didn't think there would ever be a way I could keep up with you. Your mind is just too good." Mayumi said.
"You're giving me too much credit, Mayumi. I only lasted as long as I did because I had my trusted companions by my side, you included." David said.
"He's right. No one is truly alone in this fight. It was because of our support that he was able to accomplish everything he did." Sectonia said.
"Yeah… I did dedicate our championship status in the Olympics to all of you, after all. Especially you, Mayumi. You were one of the best that I had." David said.
"I'm humbled. Thank you both. Now… I still have one Pokémon left. Ready to see it?" Mayumi asked.
"Hehe. If I know the person I battled in Alola...she's definitely gonna use that one." Starlight thought as she smiled.
"Lay it on us. Make it a good one!" David said.
"Alright… Let's go, Necrozma!" Mayumi said as she sent out Necrozma, who looked more different than usual. This Necrozma now looked more like Lunala albeit with parts of it attached.
"Like it? See, we figured out Necrozma can fuse with Solgaleo and Lunala using devices called a Solarizer and Lunarizer. So we got those, she caught Solgaleo and Lunala in the lair...and now Necrozma can always be made whole." Starlight said.
"Weren't those...the devices you got from Colress?" David asked.
"Indeed it was. For a former Team Plasma scientist, the guy makes really helpful devices." Starlight said.
"Alright. Now it's getting interesting." David said.
"Let's start this off with a bang. Moongeist Beam!" Mayumi said.
"Get back!" Sectonia called out as the Moongeist Beam nailed both Milotic and Latios.
"Damn… That was so strong." David said.
"Sorry, David. I'm out." Sectonia said.
"Don't worry. Leave the rest to us." David said, sending out Froslass.
"We've got him on his last Pokémon. Let's finish this with a bang." Starlight said.
"I hear you there." Mayumi said.
"Here we come. Double Team!" David said.
Froslass cloned herself as she made countless copies, surrounding Raichu and Dawn Wings Necrozma.
"Trying to confuse us won't work." Starlight said. "Raichu, use Thunderbolt and flush her out!" she said as Raichu started firing thunderbolts.
"You're wide open. Now, Blizzard!" David said.
"Crud!" Starlight said as Raichu was hit with the full brunt of the attack and taken out. "I'm out. All on you, girl!"
"Let's see if he can withstand this!" Mayumi said as she activated her Z-Ring. "From the blackest depths of darkness comes a shining light that becomes a beacon to the world's building light! Finishing Strike! Menacing Moonraze Maelstrom!"
Necrozma used Lunala's signature Z move to fire several Lasers at Froslass, who did her best to dodge each one. But at the last one, it hit doing massive damage on her.
"Nice hit!" Starlight said.
"But she still managed to survive that. She's quite resilient." Mayumi said.
"Nice… But now, I think it's time for a little Payback!" David said.
Froslass hit Necrozma with Payback, doing a lot of damage to it, however, Necrozma still flew high.
"Not bad but...we're gonna come out on top here. Do it now, Mayumi!" Starlight called out.
"Alright. This is the final blow. Moongeist Beam!" Mayumi said.
"Full Power, Froslass! Shadow Ball!" David said.
Both attacks soon collided with one another with their powers almost evenly matched with one another.
"David...you really do help me out of a lot of fine messes. But…" Mayumi said as Moongeist Beam overtook the Shadow Ball. "This is my win." she said as the beam went and hit Froslass dead on, taking it down.
"And...all of one sides Pokémon have been defeated! Moving on is...the Starlight/Mayumi team!" the ref called out.
"Well, looks like we lost this one." David said.
"Indeed we did. It was really close." Sectonia said.
"Yep. It sure was. Cheetah and Jexi are in the next match, so I should be mad that I didn't get the chance to face them, but...for some reason, I'm not." David said.
"It's because you just saw one of your own members come into their prime." Starlight said.
"Haha… Yep. It was quite the nail-biter. I could've easily seen that going either way. You've done us proud, Mayumi. You've clearly come a long way." David said.
"Thanks." Mayumi said. "And I'll keep doing us proud."
"That you will. Best of luck in the rest of your matches." David said.
"Thanks. We'll need it." Starlight said.
