"Okay, everyone! Now things are gonna heat up even more cause now we're in the semifinals! But you gotta wonder, which one will be the first to advance? Will it be Alola's warriors, Starlight and Mayumi? Or the newcomers of power, Jexi and Cheetah? Let's see through this match." Leon said.
"Well...this just got interesting. Never thought you two would make it to the semifinals being new to battling with Pokemon and all." Starlight said.
"We're just as surprised. But, we're not ones to let one victory get to us. So...we'll be taking you down and moving on to the finals." Jexi said.
"Ooh, those are some pretty bold words. I'll need to be careful around you." Mayumi said. "As for you, I hope you aren't disappointed that I took the chance to face David and Zacian away from you. You'll find that I'm not the same girl I was back in the IG-3."
"Disappointed? Hardly. Well… Not as disappointed as Zamazenta is, of course. But seeing you here instead is quite the opportunity as well." Cheetah said.
"Challengers...send out your first Pokemon!" the ref called out.
"Let's go, Primarina!" Starlight said.
"Show your speed, Jolteon!" Jexi said.
"You're up first, Claydol!" Cheetah said.
"Let's start things off with Pheromosa!" Mayumi said.
"Let the battle...begin!" the ref declared.
"Primarina, let's start things off with Moonblast on Jolteon!" Starlight said.
"Jolteon, get in and use Thunder Fang." Jexi said.
As Primarina fired a ball of fairy energy, Jolteon avoided the attack before getting close and biting into Primarina with its electrified teeth.
"Let's start with a Triple Kick." Mayumi said.
"Open this up with Ancient Power!" Cheetah said.
Claydol fired off Ancient Power as Pheromosa rapidly kicked them away.
"Follow that up with Silver Wind!" Mayumi said.
"Dodge Claydol, and use Ice Beam!" Cheetah said as Claydol shot into the air and fired Ice Beam at Pheromosa.
"So, that's how you want to play, huh? Take them both with Swift!" Mayumi said.
"And Primarina, use Ice Beam on Claydol!" Starlight said.
"Jolteon, use Thunder!" Jexi called out as Jolteon took the Swift as it unleashed a powerful thunderbolt on Primarina, taking it out before it could fire on Claydol.
"Return!" Starlight said. "This is gonna be a challenge. Luckily, we're ready for it. Go, Ninetales!" she said sending out her Alolan Ninetales.
"Just what I was hoping for. Nail them both with Rock Slide!" Cheetah said.
"What?!" Starlight said as a Rock Slide went and fell on the two Pokemon, taking them both out quickly. "So you were just waiting for us to have pokemon weak against rock attacks?"
"Well, this is her, after all. She is pretty much David's equal. Though, I didn't think she'd pick up on this kind of strategy this quickly." Mayumi said.
"What's worse is neither of them have lost any Pokemon and I'm down to my last one. They take it out, they'll double team you for sure." Starlight said.
"I guess I'll just have to turn this around, then. You're up to bat, Decidueye!" Mayumi said.
"Right there with you. Go, Lycanroc!" Starlight said.
"Let's turn things around with Razor Leaf!" Mayumi said.
"And take that Claydol down with Stone Edge!" Starlight said.
Lycanroc howled as jagged stones hit Claydol as both it and Jolteon were hit with Razor Leaf, taking down Claydol.
"Dang. Return!" Jexi said, calling back Jolteon. "No way it's gonna stand up here. Go, Glaceon!"
"You're up, Luxray!" Cheetah said. "Time we finished this. Luxray, blast Lycanroc with Electro Ball!"
"And Glaceon, you hit Decidueye with Blizzard!" Jexi said as both Pokemon went at their targets, causing damage to both of them.
"Alright, time to fight. Spirit Shackle!" Mayumi said.
"You won't get the chance to fire. Use Ice Fang!" Jexi said as Glaceon jumped onto Decidueye and bit right into it with an icy bite.
"Gotcha. Shadow Claw!" Mayumi said.
Glaceon took the attack head on as it let go of Decidueye and back off.
"Cheetah, now!" Jexi said.
"Understood. Wild Charge!" Cheetah said.
"Lycanroc! Defend Decidueye before…" Starlight said as Glaceon got close.
"Take it now! Double Edge!" Jexi called out as Glaceon rammed into Lycanroc, taking it out along with itself. "You did well. Return."
"Oh no. I'm out." Starlight said.
"Don't worry. I'll fight for the both of us." Mayumi said as Decidueye goes down. "Only got one left. Better make this count!" Mayumi said as she sends out Necrozma fused with Solgaleo.
"She did exactly as you expected." Jexi said to Cheetah. "No guarantee that this Pokemon can beat it, but we can still take it down by teamwork. Go, Umbreon!"
"I'll just have to work this out one at a time… Oh wait, I can use this now! Earthquake!" Mayumi said.
The ground shook as it caused massive damage to Luxray and some damage to Umbreon.
"Keep it together. Chip it away with Crunch!" Cheetah said.
"You can try. Use Metal Claw!" Mayumi said. Necrozma waits for Luxray to close in before he goes for the strike.
"Dark Pulse!" Jexi called out as Umbreon hit Necrozma with Dark Pulse, disrupting its focus for a moment before Luxray bit right into it.
"Guess we'll have to shake these two off before anything. Another Earthquake!" Mayumi said.
"Confuse Ray!" Jexi called out as Umbreon flashed a light on Necrozma before it could attack, confusing it. "I only bought time. You need to finish it now, Cheetah!"
"I don't think that's going to happen just yet. Ultra...Burst!" Mayumi said.
With a brilliant glow of golden light, Necrozma burst into flashing lights before reappearing in his Ultra form.
"Oh, this is getting real!" Zephyr said.
"Alright. Let's take this from the top. Earthquake, one more time!" Mayumi said. Necrozma caused the ground to shake again, taking out both Umbreon and Luxray.
"I was planning to save this for Ishihara, but… Now that I think about it, this seems like a more suitable opponent. I hope you're ready to get out there, Zamazenta." Cheetah said.
"Ready?" Zamazenta communicated. "I am always ready for any challenge."
"Very well, then. Let's do this!" Cheetah said.
Cheetah threw her last ball and out popped Zamazenta in Crowned Shield Forme.
"Mmmm!" he grunted as he landed on the ground, his defense passively raising thanks to Dauntless Shield. "I've heard tales of you, Blinding One. A fearsome being that devours all light. You may be on the side of good now, but I know you still have all your power. Show me what made you so fierce!"
"You heard him, Necrozma! Photon Geyser!" Mayumi said.
Necrozma charged up a ball of photon energy and blasted it at Zamazenta.
"Iron Defense!" Zamazenta called as he threw his shield up and blocked the attack.
"Impressive. I guess I shouldn't expect anything less from Zamazenta. I guess you chose her for a reason." Mayumi said before Necrozma communicated something to her. "Wait, you want me to use what?"
"Uh, what's Necrozma saying to Mayumi?" Bow asked.
"I think he's trying to tell her to use that." Hope said.
"You know how scared I get at the prospect of it. Especially after what...almost happened to Ultra Megapolis." Mayumi said. "The visualization still makes my spine tingle."
Necrozma communicated to Mayumi that there was nothing to worry about. He's watched Mayumi grow from the sidelines, and after her battle with Aimi, she shouldn't be scared of anything. Not even the darkness.
"Mayumi…" Necrozma communicated. "There is nothing to be afraid of, as you are now."
"Well, if you're sure… Okay then. I'll do it!" Mayumi said as she got her Z-Ring out. "Can you withstand this? Oh blessed light that signals the beginning and the end...Unleash your might and scorch those that stand before you! Grant me the righteous power to vanquish evil! Brace yourself...for the Light That Burns The Sky!"
Mayumi sent all the power in her Z-Ring to Necrozma as he powered up and flew high into the air. He then started absorbing every ounce of light around the world as the sky started to darken.
"That looks bad…" Mermista said.
"It's Necrozma's Z-Move. He's gathering all the light in the world to unleash for one massive blast." Twilight said.
"I see what you mean." Atro said, a little pale.
"He's even affecting Atro?" Zephyr said.
"Do not worry, it only has a small effect on me, I'll be fine." Atro assured.
Zamazenta looked up as Necrozma was still absorbing light.
"So this is his true power? ...Fine then." Zamazenta said. "Jexi, Cheetah! Let me take the brunt of this! Heh. I guess it's pointless to say since I'm the only thing out here anyway." he said as he puts his shield up.
Zamazenta glowed with red energy as he prepared to attack.
"I am the Shield of the Galar region! I do not break, I do not bend! No one can make my knee bend! No matter the battle, I do not run! I will stand my ground!" Zamazenta said as he charged leaped into the air.
"Fire!" Mayumi said as Necrozma fired its fully charged beam.
"Behemoth…...BASH!" Zamazenta roared as he slammed into the beam, the two Legendary Pokemon struggling in an epic clash. Zamazenta was able to push through and ram into Necrozma.
"Wow! He actually busted through Necrozma's strongest move!" Kazuichi said.
"Well, what did you expect? He is a former Hero of Galar, after all." Hope said.
"Now to end this!" Zamazenta said, jumping off of Necrozma's body and diving down to him. "Iron Head!" Slamming into Necrozma again, Zamazenta brought Necrozma down to the ground with a mighty thud as he leaped off. Necrozma was seen in the crater, powered down to Dusk Mane form and out of energy, unable to battle.
"And this match is over. Winners and first finalists...Jexi and Cheetah!" the ref called out.
"Whew… We had put everything we had into that attack and we still lost. You and Zamazenta really are something, you know that?" Mayumi asked.
"Do not sell yourself short either, Mayumi." Zamazenta siad. "You have matured so much in your time with your friends. Not only that, but your determination to save your long time friend has made you stronger than ever."
"He has a point. Ishihara knows some powerful friends. It's what makes you capable of growing so much, Kirishima." Cheetah added.
"Heh. You really think so? I guess we both have changed a lot since the IG-3, haven't we?" Mayumi asked.
"So we have." Cheetah said. "Now then, Jexi. The next match will determine our opponents in the finals. I had hoped to face Ishihara then, but Kirishima had already defeated him, so… Who would you want to face? Hope, or Leia?"
"Hope, definitely." Jexi said.
"I guess I can understand that feeling very well." Cheetah said.
"I always held back because Hope, he always seemed sort of frail. But so far, he's given it his all and toughened up. So...I think I'm gonna put more into it. Just a bit." Jexi said.
"Hope, let's get ready. We don't want to keep them waiting." Titanica said.
"Got that right." Hope said
