Thank you for all the ideas, keep them coming. This was based on multiple prompts, basically Erin is pregnant when she leaves from New York and doesn't tell Jay.

Erin was back in Chicago. She tried to convince herself that she was only here to check in with Hank, but that wasn't the real reason. Two months after moving to New York, Erin began feeling tired and started throwing up. Erin listed the possible illnesses in her head until she arrived at the most plausible conclusion. Later that night she was sat on her bed, crying her eyes out. Through blurry eyes she was looking at the positive pregnancy test that was in front of her. It took her another month before she worked up enough courage to get on the plane back home.

Now, she stood across the street from Jay's apartment block. One quick look at her phone told her that Jay would be leaving for work any moment soon. She wasn't even going to talk to him this morning, just wait. She wanted to see is he had changed, if he would even care about her anymore.

Erin looked up at the apartment block door as it swung open. What really caught her attention was the all too familiar laugh that she had so desperately missed. He heart felt cold as she realised that he was happy without her, alone. Except he wasn't, Erin watched as a red-headed woman followed him out also laughing. She was beautiful and to be honest, Erin wasn't that surprised. They were both still laughing as they reached their separate cars. They hugged before getting in said cars and driving off.

Erin felt betrayal, sadness and hatred all at the same time. How could Jay possibly move on, while she was stuck with a reminder of him for the rest of her life. In a fit of numbness and rage, Erin completely cancelled the rest of the trip, catching the next taxi back to the airport. She was still forcibly wiping her tears when she landed in Chicago.

Jay laughed loudly as he pushed open the door of his apartment building. He held it open for Sarah as she followed him out.

"You're so stupid." she said, pushing her ginger locks behind her ears.

Jay flashed his signature grin, "You know you love me." he replied, causing Sarah to sigh and shake her head, a small smile spread across her face.

"Of course, I do." Sarah said as she wrapped her arms around Jay's muscular frame. Jay squeezed tightly, not wanting to let go just yet.

"When will you be back in town?" he asked in a more serious tone.

Sarah shrugged as she sat down her driver's seat. "Why? Do you miss your favourite cousin?" she said, winking.

"My only cousin." Jay shot back out his open window as he pulled out of the lot.

3 Years Later

It was good to be back. Erin had spent the last three years away from Chicago, not wanting to cross paths with Jay. While she thought that it was the right thing to do, she couldn't bare face lying to Jay, especially about something as important as this. But finally, she decided that it wasn't fair on her child to leave Jay in the dark. She was pulled from her thoughts by the chime, letting everyone know that they could remove their seatbelts.

"Momma look!" her son called; his face pressed against the window blocking Erin's view.

Erin chuckled to herself, "Come on Sammy. Let's go see grandpa." he said, immediately drawing the boy's attention. Hank had been a big part of their lives. He would travel over to New York and it would be Sam's favourite weekends when his grandpa would come over. Hank kept her apprised on everyone on the team, apart from Jay. He was never spoken about by Erin, but it didn't stop him from creeping into her dreams at night. She loved and hated when she remembered his touch. She laughed and cried remembering the many moments they had shared. She doubted and agreed with her choice to keep Sam from Jay.

Everything hit her at once as she saw Hank waiting for her in the airport. She practically flew into his arms, seeking comfort. No words were exchanged until Hank bent down to speak to the toddler that was firmly attached to his pant leg.

"Do you want to see where your grandpa works?" he asked, watching as Sam's face light up entirely. The young boy cheered, running rings around Hank with his fingers making the shape of a gun. Erin watched as Hank walked off with Sam at his side, she wanted to follow them but knew that she had more important things to do.

Erin walked into the diner and was hit with the strong smell of pancakes. This had been their usual place for a morning coffee or breakfast when they had been partners. She was sure Jay had been confused by her single text, but she needed to do this in person. Jay was easy to spot. His black leather and sharp jaw stood out to her and he stood when their eyes met. Erin held eye contact for only a few short seconds before she sank into the booth across from him.

"You're back." he stated simply, as he sat down as well.

"Just visiting." she told him; however, she wasn't even sure of that herself. It all depended on how the next few moment mapped out.

Jay had a longing expression and Erin found it hard to read, "Why?" he asked, keeping it short and sweet.

"You moved on and I'm trying to as well, but I need to tell you something." she looked down at the coffee in front of her. It was her usual, it caused her to smile slightly knowing that he still remembered it.

Jay's eyebrows creased, "Moved on?" he questioned.

Erin scoffed, "I saw you, when I first came back three years ago. You were with some red-head." she told him as if it was obvious.

Jay laughed, "Sarah." he said.

"What? This is funny?" Erin was engulfed in rage.

Jay's smile never let up, "Sarah, that red-head, she's my cousin. She doesn't come around very often." he explained.

Erin suddenly felt very stupid. She had deprived Jay of being a father, because she jumped to conclusions. She felt a single tear sting her cheek. "I'm sorry." she said.

"What do you mean?" Jay questioned.

"I came back because I was pregnant. I thought you moved on, that we would only be a burden." she said, more tears suddenly falling.

Jay slowly shook his head, "Pregnant?" he breathed.

Erin nodded, not wanting to say much more she stood, "He's at the district." she said before walking away, leaving Jay motionless in the booth. Erin got a taxi straight to the district. She was greeted by Platt's famous way before being let up. She watched as Sam played with Kevin and Adam, trying to figure out who was more childish.

It was thirty minutes later when Jay climbed the stairs to intelligence. He had a bedraggled look on his face and he was missing something from his eyes. However, his distinct sparkle returned to his green eyes as they laid sight on the brown-haired boy. Sam's freckles were enhanced by the light coming from the sun and his laugh couldn't sound more like his fathers.

Jay approached Sam, crouching down and placing his arms gently on the boy's shoulders. "Hey, my name's Jay." he said, his voice cracked noticeably.

"Come play, Jay." Sam laughed, grabbing Jay's large hand and pulling him towards the toy police cars spread out across the floor. Erin smiled. She was watching her one true love playing with his son, as if they had known each other for ever. Erin knew then that she had made the right decision.
