When the Cat caught It's Mouse
It was a beautiful day in konoha; the birds occupied the skies, bringing about melodious tunes and People worked on all sorts of endeavors in the streets. It was the hottest it had been in days and as such, a fellow kunoichi decided to take a young stroll to her best friend's house. She hadn't seen her friend in so long due to her family pressures and so decided that today would be the perfect opportunity. "Man, I bet Ino would love the gift I got her!" The young Pink haired kunoichi said, passing the dark forest entrance in the village. It was not a favorite route for most but due to the construction taking place, she was forced to take this route. She was Just about to take her phone out, as she heard it go off ,when she stopped suddenly . Hearing a feint sound of footsteps behind her, she prepared herself for an attack but was too slow as her assaulter had knocked her to the ground. She tried to get a glimpse of the person but could only notice the black mask this person wore. The assaulter was soon joined by 3 others wearing similar masks and Sakura quickly jumped up.
A series of attacks were thrown at her, to which she dodged for the most time until she let her guard drop for a split second and one of the attackers landed a punch at her abdomen, causing her to cough up blood and lose her balance once more. The second attacker was about to land a final blow when he was suddenly hit by an unknown force. Only hearing the sounds of her attackers struggling, Sakura tried prying her eyes open to see her savior but did not have the strength and felt her mind flow into darknessā¦

"Why would someone target her just like that? It doesn't make any sense!" Sakura heard a voice say. She opened her eyes slowly, adjusting to her surroundings. She noticed that she was in a very elegant setting, and there was a crowd around her. She quickly registered that it was her friends. "Sakura, You're up!" Suddenly all eyes were on her and she tried to get up. Ino rushed over and helped her while Hinata got her some water. "How are you feeling? You were hurt pretty badly." Ino said softly. Sakura took another moment to look around. "Where am I?" she asked. "You're at Sasuke's place. You're lucky he got there in time and took those guys out, Believe it!" Naruto exclaimed. Surprise crossed Sakura's face as she turned to the mysterious blue haired boy that she could not get out of her head. "Sasuke? You were the one who fended those guys off? Thank you so much." She said with a small smile on her face. "Feel free to stay here for as long as you need." He said and left the room without waiting for her to respond, Much to her dismay.
The rest of the day was spent with her friends catching up, until they decided to leave as it was getting late. The only thought that could fill Sakura's head was that she was in Sasuke's house. Alone. With him. A Fierce blush crossed her face as the object of her thoughts entered the room once more. His eyes never left hers as he sat at the foot of the bed. "How are you?" he asked her. "In a bit of pain but otherwise not so bad. Thank you again for saving me. Do you have any idea who the attackers were?" "I sent one of them to the hokage. The others managed to escape. They should Interrogate him and find out who or what wanted you." He explained. Sakura could only see a cold stare behind his words and he got up to sit closer to her. "Sakura, Today was a scare. Not just for you, but for me as well. It put a lot in perspective for me, so that being said...Go out with me." It took a second for her to register what was being said. Eyes widened, she could only stare.
"What?"
"You heard me. Go out with me."
"I...I can't" She heard herself say. Now it was Sasuke's turn to be shocked.
"I'm not asking."
"exactly. You're not asking."
"Sakura, You're going to go out with me."
"I refuse." Frustration settled in his eyes at her reply as he could feel anger surface. Seeing this, Sakura grabbed sasuke's hand gently. "Sasuke, I want more than anything to go out with you, but I don't want it to be forced." "I'm not forcing you!" feeling her emotions get the better of her, she looked him in the eyes. "Yes you are. I can see the coldness of your stare. You hold no emotion!" Sasuke could only stare as Sakura tried calming down. "Please leave, I'd like to be alone for a bit." She said to him and watched as he nodded with a somber look on his face and left the room. Trying not to think about what had just happened, she decided to take a small nap.

Hearing the feint sound of her phone vibrating made her stir as she reached over to grab it.
"Hello?"
"Hi sakura, It's Hinata."
"Oh hey Hina, What's up?"
"Sorry to disturb you, I'd forgotten earlier to invite you to a party I'm having in two days. Will you be able to come? If you're in too much pain, It's ok." Sakura took a second to register what Hinata was saying. Going to a party would mean Sasuke would probably be there, but she couldn't just ditch one of her best friends. "Of course I will be there Hina." She said with a smile. Once the call had ended, she looked at the time. 19:00. She had to get out of this place and return to her own apartment. Waking up briskly, ignoring the slight pain she felt, she grabbed her things and walked out of the room.
Sasuke's mansion was a sight to see as it dripped with elegance. Lush carpets adorned the floor, a grand staircase was situated in the middle of the wing where she had just exited from ,emanating Golds and reds everywhere. Multiple artifacts filled the common downstairs area and large paintings decorated the walls. It was definitely not what Sakura was used to. She was just about to head to the front door when the deep voice she had loved filled the room, making her stop in her tracks. "Going so soon?" He said and she turned, slightly startled. "Yeah, I have to go back to my apartment. Thank you for your hospitality Sasuke, You've been kind." She replied crisply, with a sincere smile. Glancing at his face, she could've sworn she saw sadness flicker in his eyes for a second. "I see. Well if you're going this late, at least allow me to walk you home." She was about to argue but figured it would be futile and just nodded.
The air was cool against her skin as they walked. It was quieter nowadays as people would retreat to their respective homes by 18:00. They walked in a comfortable silence for a while, to which sakura felt somewhat relieved. "Did you hear about Hinata's Party?" Sasuke said suddenly, breaking the silence. "Yes, she called me." "Are you planning to go?" Sasuke asked, looking away. "Well yeah, I can't say no to one of my best friends. Why do you ask?" "Naruto is begging me to go, I'm not one for parties. I figured if you're going, I'd have a reason to go." He said smoothly, causing a massive blush to creep on sakura's face, to which she had to turn away so that he couldn't see it. "O-oh. I see." She managed to get out. They stopped walking as Sasuke turned to her. She could never get tired of looking into his eyes, for it soothed her. She didn't notice the change in atmosphere nor had she noticed the slow movement of Sasuke nearing her, his face inching closer and closer until she could feel his breath against her lips and closed her eyes. "Your apartment." She heard and opened her eyes once more. "What?" she said, completely confused. "We've arrived at your apartment. You better go in." He said, completely rendering her speechless. Annoyance filled her mind as she turned and headed to her apartment without looking back. "See you at the party." Was all she heard as she entered her place and slammed the door behind her. Leaving a smirking Sasuke behind. "STUPID SASUKE!" She exclaimed almost immediately and slumped in her bed. Just what games was Sasuke trying to play with her? This was just proof that he didn't really care about her. That he was just playing a game of cat and mouse for his own amusement. Feeling annoyed, she decided to take a hot shower to calm herself down.

Hinata was trying her best to calm down, but her nerves wouldn't allow it. She had thrown this party in hopes that she and Naruto could actually bond for a change however, ever since he arrived at her place, he had been stuffing his face and breaking all sorts of things. He had already broken 2 vases, 3 plates and a glass. Shikamaru had tried to keep him away from cutlery but he always found something to break. Walking sheepishly up to her, with a big grin on his face, he spoke up. "Gee Hinata, Sorry about all your stuff. I can get a little clumsy, Y'know?" Finding her words after hearing the sincerity in his voice, she decided to let him off the hook. "It's ok Naruto. Just try not to break anything else ok?" "You got it! Oh yeah, I've been meaning to tell you...I like your dress. The color suits you." He said, referencing her pale pink cocktail dress that Ino had bought her. A blush crept on her face as she thanked him and bolted. As she stormed in no particular direction, She crashed into someone and the two figures toppled backward. "Ow! Watch where you're goi- Hinata?" Registering who she bumped into, Hinata jumped up to help her friend. "Sakura! I'm so sorry! I wasn't paying attention to where I was going." she said quickly, covering her face with her hands in embarrassment. Hearing a small laugh, she uncovered her face. "No need to apologize Hinata. So, am I late?" Sakura asked, looking around. "No, Everyone's here except for you and Sasuke. Also, Naruto broke a bunch of things so be careful where you're walking as there could be glass pieces that we missed." staring quizzically at her, sakura let out a sigh. "Yeah, trust that idiot to break more than one thing in someone else's home." She said and they both broke out in laughter. They decided to join the rest of the gang and everyone sat and chatted merrily. "Hey, where's Sasuke? He was supposed to be here already." Naruto said, reaching for his phone to dial his best friend. Suddenly, a ringtone could be heard behind him. "I'm here, you dobe." Sasuke said, causing everyone to glance his way. "Finally! What took you so long?" Naruto exclaimed. A look of annoyance crossed Sasuke's face as he dropped a packet on the table. "Made a pit stop to get more snacks in case. It's chilli cheese fries." He said and surprise crossed Sakura's face as she looked at him. He knew it was her favorite and nobody else ate it in the group. A look of mild disgust crossed Naruto's face as he passed at the offer. "Well, If nobody else is gonna eat it, I might as well- Ah!" A sharp pain hit her foot as she looked down and noticed a glass piece lodged in her barefoot. Seeing blood slowly emanate from the wound, Sasuke quickly picked her up before anyone could react and carried her to the kitchen. Hinata followed and handed him some ice and a cloth. Effortlessly, he removed the glass shard from her foot and heard her hiss suddenly. Hinata had grabbed the broom in hopes of cleaning up any remaining glass pieces by the others and left the room.
"Don't be such a baby, It's just one piece of glass. What were you doing barefoot anyway?" Sasuke asked, tending to her foot and wrapping it with the cloth. "I was sitting on the floor so I figured I didn't need shoes." Sakura said, slightly pouting. Smiling at her childishness, he laid her foot down gently. "Thank you once again, I guess." She said smiling softly at him. In that moment, they had locked eyes and it had seemed as if time itself had stopped. Her smile faded slightly and once again, she found herself nearing his face until it was inches away. Only this time, he didn't pull away and she felt his lips touch hers. It was the moment she waited for for a long time and finally she had it. The kiss seemed to last forever with him only deepening it. His lips were soft and had a slight taste of cherries on it. A small movement caused the two to break apart suddenly and sakura felt her lips burn. Glancing in the direction of the noise, the two saw that they were interrupted by Hinata, blushing like crazy at what she had just seen. "I-I'm Sorry, I d-didn't mean to-" "It's ok Hinata. Just...don't tell the others ok?" Sakura said with an equally embarrassing blush on her face. Sasuke decided to get up and walk out of the room without saying a word, Sharing a look, the girls decided to follow him out.
Tenten had been entertained for the duration of this party, everyone was having a great time. but from the time sasuke had walked in, she immediately noticed a change in atmosphere. She didn't really like sasuke the way the others did. She didn't see the need to fangirl over someone who held no respect for anyone, especially not one of her best friends. Ever since they came from the Kitchen though, she noticed the change in atmosphere once more. Putting on a grin on her face, she decided to address the situation. "Sakura, is everything ok? You look a little flushed." She said and noticed the blush on Sakura's face increase. "E-everything's fine. The glass didn't go in too deep." Sakura replied, avoiding eye contact. "Oh I see. That's a relief I guess although I wasn't talking about the glass piece." This caused the group to immediately look at the two and smirk knowingly. "Mind your own business woman." Sasuke said coldly, causing tension to build up. Noticing this, Sakura decided to divert their attention. "Uhm, I think I'm going to go. I don't feel very well and need some rest." She said much to Hinata's dismay. "Let me walk you home." Sasuke said. "No, It's ok-" "I wasn't asking." Sasuke stated coldly and the two left after Sakura apologized to the rest of the group.

On the way home, they decided to take a slight detour leading to a garden route. Sakura loved this route as it was peaceful and she felt one with nature. She could really clear her mind although, due to a certain someone being there, she couldn't focus on the beauty of it at all today! 'Why does this jerk always manage to make me feel this way?' She thought as they approached her favourite part of the garden route : The bridge that overlooked everything. She loved this bridge because it had a view of almost the entire garden and it sat above a koi pond. Whenever she would come here, She would always manage to bring a snack for her koi friends. Reaching the middle of the bridge, they stopped abruptly. Turning to her distraction, she was met with an intense stare that made her go numb. "Sakura, I don't know how to tell you how I feel. I've been trying to show you that I actually care about you and I'm not just saying this for some selfish reason. You think I don't notice all the flushed stares, the following around and the nervousness, but I do. I'm just not used to expressing myself like others can so I come off as snobbish and rude. I'm Sorry for how I treat you ok? I got you something to try to make up for it." Sasuke explained, pulling out a long black velvet box from his pocket.
Sakura was at a loss for words. She had genuinely thought that sasuke was just doing all those things for his own amusement as he had done to many before but now, seeing the sincerity in his eyes, She could see that he truly meant what he was saying. As if he had finally let down his guard. A massive argument took place in her head contemplating what to do next. It wasn't until he had pulled out a black velvet box from his pocket that she had blanked. Glancing nervously at his face, she accepted the gift and opened it slowly, revealing the most elegant emerald necklace with diamond studs surrounding it. It was breathtakingly beautiful. "Oh Sasuke! I love it!" She exclaimed, grabbing him for a massive hug. She felt his arms wrap around her and suddenly she felt like this was where she belonged. In his arms. The hug lasted for a few minutes before they decided to break apart. Looking down at her, Sasuke gave her a quick peck before asking the question he had asked once before. "So, What do you think? Wanna go out with me?" "Hm...I have to think about it." Seeing the frown on his face, Sakura instantly smirked and Sasuke knew he was fooled. "You sly fox." He said and it was her turn to frown slightly. "I wouldn't say fox...I would say I'm more of a cute mouse..."
