The next morning, everyone was up early in the morning, having breakfast. The farm animals weren't even up yet! Bendy was still quite sleepy, tho Dash constantly poked him or tugged at his food on his fork. They all had a bit of a morning ahead, for today they move to the woods...
Once Henry made sure everyone had everything that they wanted to keep out with them, he got out the special pen and made the house and farm disappear. It's like it was never there. The family then piled into the truck and drove to the wooded area, along the dirt path. Bendy and Dash eventually fell asleep again.
Once they were at the exact spot, Henry once again took out the pen and brought the house and farm back out. The animals were none the wiser. It was still quite early, so the family slept a bit longer than usual. Later that day however... like around lunchtime...
"So, what's on the agenda for you today dear, since we've gotten all moved in?" Henry took a sip of coffee. "Well, I thought about looking around at our surroundings a bit more and going into town for a little bit." "Do you really think we'll be safe from Joey?" "I'm sure we will and if he tries anything, don't forget I've rigged up the house with a bunker and other surprises." Linda just shook her head amusingly. "Looks like your army training paid off, especially since we have electricity out here." "Took some doing though, with the generator hook up and whatnot."
There was a bit of a silence between them...
"Sure is quiet around here without the sound of tiny paws and boots running around." "Yeah, they must still be really tired..." "Well... we did kinda wake them up quite earlier than normal."
Another silence...
"Linda, is there something on your mind? I only ask cause you've been deep in thought, reading a bunch of kid care books, and watch Bendy and Dash play a lot since they got here..." she sighs. "I was just thinking... what if we adopted Dash, legally?" at this Henry looked thoughtful. "You know that's not a bad idea. She's certainly attached to you." "You don't think it's cause I constantly spoil her?" "No dear, she loves you. She'll show it in her own way one day." "I hope so..."
A few hours later...Linda was in the kitchen cooking up a bit of a lunch and dinner combo, while Henry worked on some blueprint like drawings... looked like they were for a treehouse...
"What's this all about?" "Well, when I was out exploring the surrounding area, I saw this really tall tree, so I climbed it and saw that from the view, you could see the city from there and it looked nice. It got me thinking about making the kids a treehouse." "What a lovely idea! However, I don't think it was wise for you to climb that tree, Henry... you're getting too old..." "Dear, you're talking to your husband who survived an old animation studio, along with an onslaught of ink monsters; including a beast version of Bendy and survived an elevator drop, which would be impossible I might add." Henry had a point there. Linda couldn't come up with a good counter argument, so all she said was; "touche." and went back to cooking. Henry just shook his head in amusement.
After a bit, Bendy came in, still looking like he still didn't get enough sleep
"Hey Bendy, still tired? It's almost 4 in the evening..." "Had a bit of a rough night..." Henry looked worried. "Any nightmares?" "No, it's just that me and Dash had a bit of a long conversation. I did reveal some of my past to her, but strangely she wasn't scared." "She's a brave little pup." "I think she's more scared of Joey." "Who wouldn't be, the guy's a creep, lier, and murderer." Bendy then looked around. "Where's Linda?" "She probably went to go wake your sister and give her a bottle."
Since Linda is taking a while, Henry gives her a hand and finishes the food, while Bendy goes to check on them. He gets back to the room and finds Linda sitting in a rocking chair, giving Dash her bottle.
She looks up. "Oh hello, Bendy, what brings you here?" "Oh I was just wondering what happened and what was taking a long time for you to come back." "No need to worry, just giving your sister her milk and now need to change her. We'll be back down in a few minutes." "Alright." And with that Bendy went back down to the kitchen and saw that Henry had set the table and Dash's high chair. "So what's the word?" "They'll be down in a few minutes." "Alright, well we can get started."
So Henry served the food and by the time he was done, Linda and Dash came in, with the latter wearing a cute shirt top and a fresh diaper
"Sorry about the wait, Dash was a bit fussy and upset from being woken up, but she needed some food in her and then I'll put her back down to sleep more." Linda then put Dash in her high chair and strapped her in and then started feeding her mac and cheese. Bendy just shook his head amused. "She really likes being babyfied." "And I don't mind it at all! It's like I told Henry, I don't have a daughter, so Dash is my best bet as to raise my own."
As Linda was talking, she wasn't paying attention to the fact that she kept feeding Dash the Mac and cheese, whom was starting to get quite full, considering she had a bottle of milk a bit ago...
"Oh yeah, Henry has a big surprise for you two!" Bendy beamed at this. "What it it?!" "I'm gonna be building you and Dash a treehouse, right out in the back yard. You two just tell me what you want and I'll see what I can do." "I definitely want a small library in it so I can read books again..." "Can do, son! Btw, what got you into reading?" the ink spot thought for a second. "Well, whenever Boris got the Sunday paper, he would always let me read the the comics and then from there, I just started reading all sorts of different books. That's actually the key factor to how me and Dash bonded. She heard me reading one day and actually laid down besides me to listen. That was like the closest she'd ever gotten to me, cause before she would run and hide." "Hmm... I wonder..." "What, dear?" "I wonder if at one point did the shelter allow children in to sit with the animals and read to them." "Probably."
A soft moan snapped everyone else out of their thoughts and Linda soon realized that she had fed her daughter the entire pot of mac and cheese...
"Oops... sorry Dashie..." And with that, she unstrapped her and went to go put her to bed. The other two just ate and sweatdropped. "I don't understand why Dash didn't say anything sooner, she probably would've still had room for dessert and she loves cheesecake!" "She probably didn't want to upset Linda, you know the whole "finish everything on your plate" schtick." "Could be..."
After a few minutes, Linda came in looking for the mop and bucket
"What happened, dear? You spilled milk in the bedroom?" "No, um... Dash just threw up, so I'm gonna be awhile. Could you and Bendy take care of things down here?" "Don't worry we got this." She then gave Henry a kiss. "Thanks, hun."
So, Linda went back and got Dash cleaned up, while the bois cleaned up the kitchen and put away any leftover food. Afterwards, they set in the living room and watched a bit of TV. There was a movie playing, but it looked too sappy for Bendy's tastes. If anything, he looked still unnerved... of course Henry noticed.
"Bendy, what's wrong? You seem troubled..." "I am... I know Joey is after Dash... to get revenge on us... he plans to use her..." now Henry was getting a bit more concerned. "use her for what exactly...?" "If he's rebuilt his "empire"... there's a chance he also rebuilt the ink machine and we know how evil it is... I remember... before you returned, I read his book 'the Illusion of Living' and found that he would need a pure soul of another living being, for everything to work, including the machine..." "Wouldn't it just turn her into a toon?" "With the the way Joey operates, there's the possibility that he made it so no evidence is left behind... that way he can get off scot free and continue to harm innocents... basically the perfect crime for him..." At this Henry realized just how much danger Dash actually is in, but he's still confident that Joey won't find them, and he reassured Bendy this fact... well that and the fact that he has the house and soon to be made treehouse rigged up with traps. Still, Bendy would feel better if he had more help in protecting Dash, but who...?
His thoughts were interrupted with the TV clicking off. "Sorry, bud, but it's bedtime. Gotta go to the city tomorrow and pick up some things" then it hit Bendy who else he could ask for help. "Can Dash and I go with you? I kinda promised her the next time we go, I'd take her to meet Charley and his pals." "Sure, that way she can make some more friends." Bendy let out a sigh of relief. "thanks Henry..."
And with that, they both said their goodnights and headed to bed. Bendy, however, looked over to Dash who was still asleep in her crib. He then turned inky and reached over and gently pet her head. "Sleep well Dash... hope you feel better in the morning..."
He then turned to go get in his bed, but Dash grabbed ahold of one of his fingers in her sleep and held it close. At this point he was trapped. He couldn't change back and he couldn't move, for fear out of waking up his sister, so he just sat down and quietly chuckled. "Looks like I'm gonna be here for a while..."
And with that, he tried his best to get comfortable, and eventually dozed off...
