Alexis sighed as she picked at her salad. It had been three days since their trip to the café. Three painstakingly boring days, yet each time she thought of Jin she could feel the blood rush to her face. 'Why am I like this' she thought 'there's no way he would like me, he's my mentor. Even if it were possible he loves…' she sighed as her thoughts brought her to the accident. She wasn't there when it happened three years ago, she had just been recruited, but it didn't take long for the story to spread like wildfire. She was pulled back to reality as she saw Jackson approaching with another boy. By the look of awe on his face she pegged him for a new recruit, most likely getting the tour from Jackson.
"Hey Jackson, showing around a newbie?" She smiled playfully as the two sat down at the small table. The stranger pushing back his hood to reveal olive skin, black eyes, and waves of shoulder length black hair.
"Yep" Jackson replied. "This is Lucas. He passed the background check and was recruited two days ago." At the mention of his name Lucas smiled.
"Jackson said you are the one with the grinch as a mentor." At this Alexis frowned.
"He's not a grinch, and besides, if anyone has the right to be grumpy it's him." Lucas looked at her confused as she and Jackson exchanged glances.
"You should probably tell him" Jackson said "He is your mentor afterall." Alexis nodded and sighed,
"Alright. Three years when Jackson and I had just been recruited there was a large incident on a mission. A team of five assassins went to a warehouse owned by a shell company of Abstergo. There was supposedly a notebook with notes of a new Piece of Eden. The team consisted of my mentor Jin, his fiancée, and three others. All of them had pretty good records in the field. So when they got into the warehouse easily none of them thought anything about it." She paused as she saw Lucas frown.
"It wasn't that was it. It was a trap right?" Alexis nodded.
"Exactly. Abstergo wanted to see how well the Brotherhood had rebuilt after the purge and leaking information about something that could lead to a Piece of Eden was the perfect bait to send a solid team. Once they were inside Abstergo guards began to fire at them. The team managed to take out most of the guards and escape mostly unscathed. But as they were fleeing a sniper took a shot and it hit Maria, Jin's fiancée. She died instantly and they were forced to leave her body behind as Abstergo backup began to arrive." As she finished Lucas looked shocked as Jackson took a sip of his Pepsi.
"He lost his love just like that? Is that why he is now a bureau keeper?" Alexis nodded.
"He tried going back into the field but it was too much for him. So they made him a keeper." Lucas nodded and began to eat his sandwich. After a few awkward moments Jackson turned the conversation towards video games. It wasn't long before the three of them were laughing and telling jokes. After her lunch break was over, Alexis left the two boys in the cafeteria as they laughed away at a video. She hummed to herself as she began to make her way towards the bureau. When she finally arrived she was greeted by an odd sight. The bureau itself still looked the same. Same the ceiling high shelves holding files was to her left just behind the dark wooden desk, and the walls were still white in contrast to the burgundy carpet, but the Jin in front of her was not one she had seen before. His normal attire of a dark long sleeve shirt and black dress pants had been replaced with dark blue jeans, and a knee length brown leather coat. Alexis had seen this attire before when other's went out. This was the standard attire for a mission.
"You're late" he said, glancing over to see her standing there in shock as he adjusted his coat to hide the gear which included a hidden blade. "Follow me, I'll explain on the way."
