Alexis drummed her fingers against her leg as she sat in the passenger seat of the silver Jeep Commander. Apparently this was the vehicle the brotherhood allowed Jin to check out, or at least that was the story he told her. From the looks of the CD collection Alexis would place money on the bet that this was Jin's personal car, but she didn't want to push him for information. Well not information about the car at least.

"So" she began, clearing her throat as her voice came out a bit awkward, "You said you would explain on the way, and we've been driving for roughly forty-five minutes." Jin checked the rearview mirror before glancing over at her.

"You know what happened three years ago, correct?" She nodded as he continued.

"When they moved me to the bureau I went through our knowledge of the Pieces of Eden. At first it was to see if it would help the grief, but then I stumbled upon something. I don't think the information that Abstergo leaked was fake. I think they were on to something." Alexis frowned in thought.

"They knew that we had research too, that we wouldn't send a team if we couldn't verify the possibility at least somewhat." Jin nodded.

"Exactly. So I threw myself into it. In hindsight I probably seemed crazy to most, but I found a lead." At this Alexis' eyes widened.

"You did? If we could find it, then-" Jin cut her off.

"Then we could keep it from the Templars. And Maria wouldn't have died for nothing." The last part was barely above a whisper, but Alexis heard it. Part of her understood his grief, understood that he wanted her death to mean something, but the other part of her burned in jealousy at the fact that he would never love her, at least not as much as he loved and still loves Maria.

"Then let's find it." she said, "Let's find this Piece of Eden and make the Templars wish they had never set that trap in the first place." It was silent for a moment before he spoke again.

"Thank you." Alexis just nodded and began to focus her attention to the scenery outside, hoping that if she stared at the passing trees enough that she could fight back the sting of oncoming tears she felt threatening to surface. She couldn't love him, but she could help him.
