CHAPTER 4 - WIND
'Hermione,' Harry said in a nervous voice to his best friend, 'what rumour did you spread exactly?'
They walked down to the Quidditch pitch for the Gryffindor tryouts and every set of eyes that they passed were glued to Harry Potter. While this was rather commonplace for Harry, this time felt a little different. Firstly, the amount of giggling that erupted in his wake was multiplied tenfold. He also wasn't used to getting quite so many heated looks from the majority of the witches he passed, or the grudging respect from the wizards. Whatever Hermione had done seemed to have the desired effect, but he couldn't help a twinge of anxiety from not knowing what it entailed exactly.
'Nothing that isn't true, Harry,' Hermione said dismissively. 'Well … at least partially true.'
'And the reason you're not telling me is?'
'I think you know perfectly well,' she answered primly.
Oh, Harry knew the reason alright, he just didn't know why it warranted any kind of punishment. Since Hermione's declaration that she would have sex with him, though only for the ritual, Harry couldn't resist teasing her relentlessly. Through publicly flirting with her of course. Her reaction during the act was always the same, she seemed almost desperate for him to make a solid move and give her a good snog, or else take her to a broom cupboard and get the job done for good. He would always pull away before making a move though, leaving her frustrated and firmly contradicting her earlier expressions. OK, maybe he did know why it warranted punishing him.
But she had never made a move back to him. Even when he was barely touching her, she would simply stay still, never moving away or toward his touch. There was a certain insecurity within him that didn't want to push her into this. The thought that perhaps she really didn't want to do anything like that with him, but she was just willing to make the ultimate sacrifice out of necessity. Even with the ritual he didn't want to have her like that, forced into it through circumstance. He would rather find another Earth soul if it was such a trial for her. Though with the terrible news of the death of Hannah Abbot's mother the day before, he wouldn't be trying to give her that kind of comfort any time soon.
'I just feel like I'm gonna look like an idiot at some point because of this,' Harry reasoned.
'It's nothing like that,' Hermione said as they reached the Quidditch pitch. 'Probably. Good luck with tryouts!'
With that she was off to the stands. Harry made his way to the middle of the pitch with his Firebolt and the game balls and looked out at the people gathered so far. He let out a pained sigh and called over Katie Bell, really the only person he was certain of making the team.
'This is going to be hell, isn't it?' she asked him when she approached.
'Half of these people probably barely know how to fly,' he agreed. 'After I weed out that lot I'll do Chasers first. I'll need your help organizing the rest.'
'Sure thing, Harry,' she said, eyeing his chest curiously.
Getting an idea, Harry leaned in close to her.
'Hey, Katie,' he said quietly, 'do you happen to know what bloody rumour is going around about me?'
Katie giggled at the question and leaned back to him.
'I won't tell you the full details,' she whispered into his ear, 'but it has something to do with a female Auror and a tattoo.'
Harry groaned, rubbing his face. 'She's gonna bloody kill me.'
'So it's true?' Katie asked a little too loudly.
'Listen,' he said, failing to keep the smirk off his face, 'I'll tell you the truth of it after tryouts if you tell me the full rumour,' taking a bit of a chance, he placed a hand gently on her hip. 'Deal?'
'Deal,' she said, biting her lower lip. 'Unless I don't make the team, then I might just keep it to myself.'
'Fat chance of that,' Harry muttered before yelling out at the gathered group. 'Alright you lot! Gather in!'
Tryouts went rather well all said and done, though a little more time consuming than he'd like. After he was done showering and changing, he waited outside the girl's locker for Katie to finish up. Only the ones who made the team were allowed to use the Gryffindor change rooms, the rest would have to head back to the dorm.
As he leaned against the wall contemplating his relationship so far with Katie Bell; Ginny Weasley and Demelza Robins came out into the hallway. Harry was more than pleased with Demelza's performance as Chaser, in all honesty she reminded him of a young Katie. She was cute with a heart shaped face and short strawberry blonde hair. He'd checked her soul type during practice, and like the majority of Gryffindors she was Fire. He considered adding her to an extended list of the fire candidates but thought she might be too young for that.
'Hey cap,' Demelza said with a coy smile, biting her lip a little.
Or perhaps not too young.
'Good flying out there, Robins,' Harry said with a grin. 'Ginny?'
Ginny stopped in front of him, giving him a strange look.
'Um, Katie said you can go in if you like,' she mumbled.
'Oh, yeah, sure,' Harry managed. 'You did great today too, Ginny, first practice next Wednesday at four alright?'
The two gave the affirmative and headed out. Harry waited until they were out of sight before slipping inside the girl's locker room. It didn't take him very long to see the trail of clothes that led to the showers, nor to hear the shower running.
Feeling his heart skip a beat, he only hesitated for a moment before removing his own clothes and walking into the shower. Sure enough, there was Katie Bell in all her naked glory, standing under the stream of water, her back to him. Harry slowly walked towards her, his heart pounding harder than he'd ever remembered. A couple of paces away she looked over her shoulder at him walking toward her in the buff and a very excited smile bloomed on her face.
Suddenly feeling more confident, Harry quickly joined her under the stream of water and wrapped his arms around her middle, pulling her naked back into his bare chest. She came willingly, lifting her own arms to wrap around his head.
'I'll have you know, Katie,' Harry said huskily into her wet hair, 'that I once faced a horde of Dementors, but until you smiled at me right then that was the most terrifying thing I've ever done.'
Katie burst out laughing, turning around to better look at him.
'At least I left you pretty clear hints as to what I wanted,' Katie said, still chuckling and resting her head on his shoulder. 'I had no idea how you'd react. Though I can't complain about the results.'
As she finished speaking she pulled back at arm's length to inspect his body appreciatively, while Harry took the opportunity to do the same. Her normally shoulder length brown hair stretched a little further down her back with the help of the wetness. Her tanned skin shimmered under the water and Harry followed a particularly adventurous droplet curving along certain places he also wanted to touch.
'Fortune favours the bold,' Harry murmured quietly.
'What's that?' Katie asked distractedly.
'Who cares …'
They came at each other simultaneously, their lips meeting under the spray of water. The irritating wetness doing nothing to wash away their passion as their hands roamed the others body. There were unconvincing questions of whether they should, whether this was crazy, what if someone walked in, but they were never deigned with answers. There were declarations of curiosity and desire that was between them for years. Innocent celebratory hugs that were thought of later in throws of lonely passion.
Katie never protested when he lifted her against the wall and prepared to take her. The only response to a weak question of, 'Are you sure?' was a harsh, 'Shut up and fuck me!' and he did. He didn't have the luxury of going slow in the position they were in and she didn't need him to. A virgin she may be, but inexperienced in matters of her own pleasure she was not.
There was no love making or gentleness to be had; it was rough and selfish on both accounts. Harry's back would have red scratches along it for days to come and one bite mark on Katie's neck nearly drew blood. The pain needed to be intense though or it would have gone completely unnoticed and useless next to the depth of pleasure they felt. After Katie's second climax, Harry filled her with his own and they slipped and fell hard onto the shower floor, Harry on his back, Katie on top. Then falling again into throws of laughter.
A passionate kiss later and they were on to round two, right where they lay, Katie moving sensually on top of him without breaking the lip lock for a second. The spot on his chest shone a light blue as they fell, a single word appearing beneath Luna's green writing.
Selva.
'So what now?' Katie asked as they got dressed slowly afterward.
'You mean with us?' Harry said while he distractedly pulled on his trousers.
'Yeah,' Katie said a little timidly, 'I mean, based on everything I heard I'm guessing you don't want a girlfriend right now.'
Harry stopped staring at Katie's boobs and gave the girl his undivided attention.
'For the record I do want one but I don't think that's a good idea right now,' he said regretfully.
'I'm sure there are plenty of good reasons,' Katie said, fiddling with the bra in her hand, 'but what's the biggest?'
Harry pushed back on his fringe to reveal his scar.
'Biggest reason is I don't want you to get hurt because of me,' he said seriously. 'Other than that, I don't think it's very responsible to let anyone get too close to me. I feel pretty selfish letting myself go like this at all.'
Katie scoffed but moved in to hug him, their bare chests rubbing together.
'Noble prick,' she mumbled.
'That's what you've named it?' Harry joked. 'Wouldn't be my first choice.'
Katie slapped his arm playfully and went back to hugging him but got distracted when she saw the new mark on his chest.
'I didn't notice this one before,' she said, touching the word Selva.
'Well you could say it's new,' Harry said, admiring the fresh mark.
Katie gave him a dubious stare. 'Is that mine?'
'I suppose it is,' Harry grinned.
Katie touched it again thoughtfully before touching the other two. 'Who are they?'
'Well,' Harry said before clearing his throat and indicating the Light mark first, 'that's Tonks, and that's Luna.'
'Lovegood?' Katie asked immediately which Harry nodded to. 'And who's Tonks?'
'Er … the Auror actually.'
Katie's hands flew to her mouth in surprise.
'No way,' she muffled through her fingers then gave him a sharp shove. 'It's actually true?'
Harry's eyes narrowed but the grin belied any annoyance.
'Well I haven't heard the full story,' he said, 'but I did sleep with an Auror named Tonks if that's what you mean.'
'I guess I did promise to tell you,' Katie teased, with a thoughtful finger on her chin. 'From what I heard, you broke up with your Auror girlfriend and you're currently going around shagging anyone you can to help forget about her. Oh, and you're getting a tattoo of every girl's name you conquer on your chest. But what's a Selva?'
Both Harry's hands smacked his face and he groaned into them.
'I'm gonna murder Hermione,' he groused. 'Or Tonks is going to kill me first if she finds out. Selva is the name of your soul.' His last sentence was spoken as an afterthought.
'It's a spell,' he explained at Katie's confused look. 'I can see your soul and when we have sex; a spell magically applies it's name to my body.'
'Very dramatic,' Katie said dryly, 'but also sort of romantic. What's the real story then?'
As they finished getting dressed and began walking back to the castle Harry told her.
'She was never my girlfriend, she actually fancies someone else but he's being a bit moronic about it. We got together to get rid of some mutual frustration, just casual sex really.'
'Wow, that is interesting,' she said before nudging against him playfully. 'For the record, Hermione is a genius if she's the one who came out with that story. Certainly got my attention.'
Harry gave her a confused look. 'What do you mean? I can't see how that worked.'
'Well,' Katie began, 'I've always had a bit of a thing for you but so have most witches in this school, you know?'
'News to me,' Harry grumbled.
'Sure it is,' she said, rolling her eyes. 'Anyway, because of that you always seemed so unattainable. But hearing you're just trying to get in some good fun to forget a girl makes it seem more possible to snag you. Doesn't hurt that you've been much friendlier lately,' she finished with a roguish smirk.
'So I should have just shouted "I'm horny and looking to shag" from the astronomy tower all this time then?' he said sarcastically.
'That's different though,' she explained, getting into the intricacies of the situation. 'Hermione's way you don't seem like some pervert … womanizer. You're just a man who's hurt and frustrated with his situation and looking for some comfort. It's quite effective. Definitely got my imagination going, which paled in comparison with reality, I'm pleased to say.'
Katie gave his bum an appreciative squeeze making Harry jump in surprise and get her own arse back with a sharp swat.
'Like I said,' she said dreamily, grabbing Harry's arm and leaning into him. 'Hermione's a genius.'
'Well that is definitely something we can agree on,' he said, smiling.
When the two of them walked into the Great Hall for dinner in that state the whispering started anew. Rumours were exaggerated, stories fabricated and all of a sudden most every witch at the school was wondering how they could go about getting their names tattooed on Harry Potter's chest.
