CONGRATULATIONS phyl7375 (part 1) Yes! Sorry, the email got buried beneath some other ones, and I didn't see it till now! Yep, it's Bobby and Jack's training agent and mentor that says "Never Again"!
TRIVIA: When was the last time someone followed them around like this (other than Nora)?
?-?
"Wha-what are you doing here?" Myles asked.
"Well, I've decided to write another book based on the FBI. The last one was such a success, I thought I'd indulge my readers in another one. This time, I'd like to write about the camaraderie of a team working together. I have approval of your bosses, in fact, they loved the idea." Nora replied.
"Ah. Of course. They seem to always love that idea." Jack said, remembering the last time someone followed them around.
"Who is this?" Cathi asked, not knowing their past history.
Myles looked from Cathi to Nora, to Cathi again. "I, um," He started.
Mya chuckled, unsure as well why he was so flustered. It was the first time she'd ever seen him that way.
"Nora came in here about 15 years ago, wanting to profile someone at the FBI for a book she was writing at the time. She had picked me." He explained.
"Oh? So you're in a book?" Cathi asked excitedly.
"Uh, no. She decided to write about Amy. She was a tween back then, and helped out with a case at the time."
"Wow, so Amy's in a book?"
Myles nodded.
"That's so cool!" Cathi said excitedly. "Hi, I'm Cathi." She said to Nora, waving.
"And you are?" Nora asked.
"My, my girlfriend." Myles replied, putting an arm around Cathi.
"Oh!" Nora replied, now feeling the same awkwardness he felt. "Well, uh, do you guys mind?" She asked, looking around the group, specifically avoiding looking at Myles.
Jack shrugged. "No, not at all, if our bosses said it's alright."
Nora smiled through her mask. "Peter said there's an extra desk that I could use? Is this it?" She asked, starting to sit at Sue's old desk.
"No! Uh," Jack blurted. "Why don't you use the one over there? Mya there had moved to Tara's old desk, and since you'll be next to her, you can see just about everyone better than if you sat in the center of the room."
Nora looked at the other desk. "Yes, you are right. Thank you."
He slightly smiled through his mask and nodded at her.
"We should get going, shouldn't we?" Cathi asked. "I only have an hour for lunch, of which I have already used 10 minutes of it here."
"Yes, we should. See you later." Myles replied, then the two walked out of the room.
"So," She said, settling into her new desk. "What have I missed? I see some new faces, and missing ones as well."
"Well," Bobby replied. "D has retired, Josh took his place, Sue left, but then came back, but now she's on a new consultant team, of which Josh moved over to that team, Mya here was an intern, which she then became a tech assistant, and when Tara moved over to be with Sue's team, Mya took over here. Lucy left to get married, and Sarah here took her place. Everyone else, we're pretty much the same."
"Wow." Nora replied, nodding. "A lot has happened over the past 15 years."
"Actually, all that pretty much just happened this past year or so." Bobby said.
She looked at him in shock. "One year?" Wow. But you, Jack and Myles, you all are good, the same?"
Bobby nodded. "Yeah, we had a bit of a delay for a few years, but I'm back with my girlfriend, and Jack here," He said with a wide smile, something that couldn't be hidden by a mask. "He's finally engaged to Sue, going to be married in a few months."
"A little more than a few." Jack replied, a bit embarrassed that his friend likes to tell every living soul about their engagement.
Nora smiled through her mask. "Good for you. I always thought you two looked good together."
"And Myles," Bobby continued. "He's pretty much the same. You met his girlfriend. They've been going out what? Almost a year?" He asked his team.
Sarah nodded. "More or less."
"Well, it's nice to see you all, and nice to meet you, and I'm really excited to get to see you in action." Nora replied.
"What's your story going to be about?" Mya asked. "I love reading and mysteries, and would love to read something that we're inspired by."
"She's a writer herself." Sarah added.
Mya glared at Sarah from across the room.
"Oh really? What sort of things do you write?" Nora asked.
Mya shrugged. "This and that. Whatever comes to my mind."
"She wrote this amazing little story for Sue's birthday, I think with a little work, it could be a bestseller." Jack added.
"You read that?" She embarrassedly asked.
"Sue loved it so much, she made me read it too." He explained. "I really liked it."
"What was it about?" Nora asked her.
Mya shrugged again, embarrassed by the attention. "Just about Sue and Jack solving a case together. Nothing special."
"Nothing special? I thought she was going to use a previous case, and just change the names. She invented the case up all herself." Jack added. Just then his phone rang.
"Well, I was inspired partly by previous cases, then things that I see, and things that I wonder what would happen if they were to occur." Mya reasoned.
"That's what makes a good writer. I'd love to read it, if you'd like." Nora replied.
Mya shook her head. "Nah, it's nothing special."
"Mya?" Sarah said, interrupting the conversation.
"Yeah?" She asked.
"I've got your results."
