TRIVIA: Someone impersonated the FBI before. Who/what episode? (Clue: the person who did was an off-screen character, but mentioned several times in the episode)
?-?
"You've been distant all through lunch, are you OK?" Cathi asked as she and Myles waked back to the Hoover building.
Myles sighed. "Honestly? No. There's something I need to tell you about Nora."
"What, was she a subject of an investigation or something?" She asked.
"No, no, no." He replied, shaking his head. "Nothing like that."
"Then what?" She asked, confused.
"Nora," He started. "Nora and I," it was harder to say it than he thought. "We dated for a while."
"Is that it?" Cathi asked, shocked that he would be so nervous about telling her.
He nodded. "It was years ago, when I met her the first time. Nothing came out of it, so we just split up."
Cathi started laughing.
Myles frowned at her. "And why, might I ask, are you laughing?"
"I just," she replied between chuckles. "I thought it was something more scary or dangerous. Like she was suspected as a serial killer or something."
"So you don't mind that we will be working together?" He asked.
She shook her head. "Like you said, it's ancient history. I've had the old boyfriend come around myself. I know how awkward it can be. I'm not jealous."
He smiled at her. "Why, yes you have. And thank you?"
She frowned as they entered the building. "For what?"
"For being you, and understanding."
She smiled at him as they entered the elevator. "You're welcome."
?-?
"You're keeping us in suspense for too long." Mya said, annoyed.
"Two men," Jack said, writing and drawing things on the white board. "Posed as FBI, pulled over a money truck, saying they were chasing a perp who used counterfeit money, and said perp recently made a purchase at the Walmart on Riggs. They were there to take the counterfeit money, and replace it with real money."
"That's a bit out of protocol, don't ya think?" Bobby asked.
Jack nodded. "Yes. The drivers thought that as well, but they thought they were dealing with the FBI. What they say goes. Anyways." Jack replied, finishing up writing and drawing to turn to the team. "When the truck got back, they found the 20's 50's and 100's were all counterfeit."
"Big store, easy mark. Lots of cash." Sarah reasoned, excited to be working on a case again.
"Yes. Now it's our job, as the real FBI, to figure out who are the impostors, and where the money went. The company doesn't think the drivers are involved in any way, good reputation, no record. Still, we will have to investigate that route as well." Jack replied. "The counterfeit money is being transported now as we speak to be analyzed, and hopefully we will be able to trace it to someone. This is a map of where they were pulled over." He said, pointing to the white board. "Remote location, not too many businesses nearby."
"Smart." Mya said, looking at it, then bringing up the satellite image on her computer. I'll contact the few businesses that are in the vicinity, and see if they have any surveillance cameras in that direction."
"Right. Then send them to Sue, see if they can see what was said, and to see if what the truck drivers said happened, really did."
Mya nodded, getting to work.
"Bobby, I, and Myles when he gets here, will go to the site, and see if there's anything we could use to track them." He continued.
"Can I come with?" Nora asked."
Jack shrugged. "I guess, as long as you don't get in the way."
Nora smiled widely. This was going to be exciting.
?-?
"Hey." Josh said, smiling widely as he answered the phone.
"Hi." Mya replied.
"What's up?" He asked.
"I've got some surveillance footage I will be sending you in a bit. I've called the businesses, they just need to send it to me." Mya replied.
"Oh," Josh replied, cringing. "We're really backed up right now. Can it wait till tomorrow, or the next day?"
She sighed. "I guess it'll have to. I'll run it through some processes here, and all they will have to do is lipread it, OK?"
"Thank you!" He said, relieved. "That will help a lot."
"Alright, then. Talk to you later." Mya said.
"Of course!" He replied before hanging up.
"More work?" Tara asked, afraid of asking.
"Yeah. But Mya's going to do half the work so you don't have to." Josh replied.
Tara nodded. "Good. Cause I think I'm about to go cross-eyed looking at more footage!"
Josh smiled. "Come on, I'll help you."
She smiled at him. "Thanks."
?-?
Myles nervously looked at Nora. She was thoroughly enjoying seeing the FBI in action. He was hating every second.
Bobby crouched down to look at the side of the road to see if anything was there. Nothing. "Whoever they are, they're good. Nothing usable here."
"Or it's just because it was a 'get in, get out' situation." Jack said, looking in the nearby grass.
"Hopefully forensics on the money and the truck will be more useful." Myles said.
Jack nodded, agreeing. "There's nothing here. I say we wait to see what forensics finds, what Sue finds, and meanwhile, let's talk to the drivers."
"Sounds like a plan." Myles replied, agreeing.
"This is fun!" Nora said, smiling widely through her mask, following the team back to the car to go back.
Myles sighed. "Here we go."
