When Jake woke up, he saw that he was in a small forest overlooking a cliff. After raising his head up, he took notice of the beautiful sunrise that was happening from his viewpoint. He also took notice of the plains down the small cliff partially covered with the same trees as the forest he was in, while also noticing a familiar looking mountain range in the distance. Only one question was going through his mind.

"Where am I?" he asked aloud, before noticing something did not quite feel right about his mouth. Looking down he noticed that instead of a nose, he had a muzzle covered in red scales. "What the?!"

He jumped to his feet and attempted to walk backwards only to fall back down on his butt due to his new anatomy. Looking at where his hands once were, he instead saw red scaled paws with crimson claws and tan padding on his palms. Looking behind himself he then notices the new appendages added to his body; red wings with cyan membranes, a simple red scaled tail with nothing extra at the end of it, and crimson red spines running down his back.

"What happened to me?" Jake wonders aloud. He then notices a pond down below in the plains. Once again, he attempts to stand up, but quickly finds out his body is now quadrupedal instead of bipedal. Seeing as he can't move as good as before, he attempts to crawl down the cliff. It took a lot longer than walking but he couldn't complain.

Once he finally reached the pond, Jake looked at his reflection, and found his new face and body staring back at him. Covered in red armor-like scales and had a cyan underbelly that matched his now reptilian eyes with two black horns sprouting from his skull and crimson spins starting from the center of his scalp. What greeted him back was the face of… "I'm a dragon?"

Looking over himself once more, confirmed Jake's suspicions, he was now a dragon, a young dragon by the looks of it. "I'm a dragon…" He then… smiled? "I'M A DRAGON!" he cheered?! Believe me folks, I'm the narrator and even I'm confused by this. "Haha! This is practically my childhood dream come true!"

Jake then reattempted walking now with four legs. It took sometime by walking in a circle, but he soon picked up how to run, and also how to control his other appendages while he was at it. While he couldn't fly, he could glide down from high places. He couldn't understand why learning it was so easy, it was almost like it was instinct, but hey he wasn't going to complain. By noon, Jake was pretty much an expert at walking with his four legs, and was now running through the plains towards the familiar mountain range.

A few hours later, Jake had suddenly grown hungry and very parched. Deciding to quench his thirst first, he searched for a reliable water source. He eventually found a river that was flowing from a pond formed by a waterfall that had flowed down the mountain he was heading towards. Not knowing how to properly lap water with his tongue, he opted to dunk his snout into the cool water below him and start drinking through his mouth. After one big gulp of river water, his thirst had slowly begun to fade away and continued to drink, until his new and sensitive ears picked up the sound of a twig snapping from the other side of the river. Despite the many bushes in the way he could make out the form of a creature hiding inside of it.

"Hey! Who's there?! I can see you!" the dragon boy yelled, causing the figure to flinch. Deciding not to stay in hiding for much longer, the figure then revealed themselves, which gave Jake quite the shock after seeing who it was. After all, who else would have those royal purple scales with a golden yellow underbelly. "Are… Are you Spyro?"

The purple dragon himself grew a shocked expression. "You know who I am?"

Jake's mind had drawn a blank as standing before him on the other side of the river was one of his favorite video game characters, and proceeded to faint due to the whirlwind of emotions in his mind currently. Concerned for the young drake, Spyro flew over to the other side of the river to check on him.

Now, you're probably wondering, 'What is Spyro doing here?'. Well, allow me to bring you up to speed on recent events. Long story short, it has been about 3 weeks since the events of dawn of the dragon, and currently both Spyro and his 'best friend' (if you catch my drift) Cynder, were staying in a cave near our current location for some much needed relaxation. That power that the purple dragon of legend had used nearly drained all his energy, and was currently recuperating. Anywho, Spyro was just on his way to the river to collect some water when he saw our red dragon on the other side. I'm sure you know the rest from there.

Seeing as he and Cynder were the only help seen in miles, Spyro picked the young dragon up and carried him to their cave. When he entered, Cynder was not expecting the drake on her secret crush's back.

"Spyro, who's that?"

"I don't know," He answered. "But he apparently knows me."

"Ugh…" came the unconscious drake's voice as he started to wake up. Setting him down gently, Spyro and Cynder patiently awaited for him to awaken. When he did, the first thing Jake took notice of was the violet eyes of the purple dragon himself, which caused him to spring to his feet. Once he was up, he saw Cynder staring at him as well, her gaze more analytical than Spyro's, searching for any signs of malice in the dragon before her.

"Alright pal," she started. "According to Spyro, you apparently know him. How?"

Jake thought about telling the truth, but he was hesitant. They probably wouldn't believe him anyways. "I don't want to say…"

Now Cynder was even more on edge, but before she could interrogate him more, Spyro stepped in. "Why not?"

"...You probably wouldn't believe me."

"Try us," Cynder demands.

"Cynder, lay off him," Spyro says, causing her to calm down a little. "I'm sure he'll tell us when he's ready."

"Thanks Spyro," Jake responds, earning a nod from the purple dragon himself.

"Well, since you know my name, how about we know yours?"

The dragon boy considered telling them his name, but for some reason, as he is now, it just didn't feel right. He was a dragon for god's sake! Jake is his human name, so now, he felt he needed a dragon's name, and there was only one that came to mind that he resonated with.

"Draco," he finally says. "Call me Draco."

"Alright Draco," Spyro responds. "Do you have anywhere you plan on heading?"

"Not really."

"Then why not stay with us for a while? What do you think, Cynder?"

The black dragoness still kept her eyes on Draco, before asking a question of her own. "How much do you know about me?"

"As much as I do about Spyro honestly," came his response. She then began to get a worried look on her face while Spyro continued to look at him with an eye ridge raised. The dragon boy then realized what she might be worried about, and tried to fix it. "Oh! But, I don't see you as evil! Matter of fact I don't really see you as 'The Terror of the Skies'! I think you're just someone misunderstood."

She then released a sigh of relief that she had been holding, before Spyro continued their conversation. "Well, we're gonna be leaving for Warfang tomorrow. You're welcome to join us if you're interested."

"Sure! But, I don't really know how to fly yet…"

"You don't?" Cynder questioned.

"No, but Ican try to learn!" he exclaimed before bolting out of the cave. When Spyro and Cynder caught up to him, finding him in an open field, wings out and ready to flap.

"Alright Draco, just remember what you've learned from studying aerodynamics," he whispered to himself. He then began to flap his wings in big, strong strokes, both Spyro and Cynder watching.

"You think he'll do it?" Cynder asked, turning her eyes away from him toward Spyro who turned towards her.

"I'm not sure. I mean, I was taught to let the ancestors guide me to learn how to fly. So I'm not sure if-"

"HAHA! It's working!" Both dragons turned back to see Draco hovering off the ground, slowly climbing higher into the sky, before he tumbled back down to the ground for flapping too hard with his left wing. "Owww… Agh! Almost had it! Don't worry guys I'll keep practicing! At this rate I may learn how to fly before dinner!"

In a comedic fashion, Draco's stomach growled in protest, demanding food be put in his gullet now! The said drake then began to chuckle in embarrassment while Spyro and Cynder laughed at the funny little moment.

"Maybe you should have lunch first," the purple dragon tells him.

"Yeah… I didn't really eat dinner last night, and also had no breakfast this morning."

"Why weren't you able to eat breakfast and dinner?" Cynder questioned. Draco then grew a somber expression as he remembered his dad's punishment.

"I'd rather not say…"

Spyro noticed this look and felt bad for the young drake. "Hey, if you want, you can come hunting with me."

"Really?!" Draco responded excitedly, causing a chuckle from the purple dragon.

"Sure! We're going down to the pond that the river sprouts from to try and catch some fish."

"Cool!"

The two dragons then ran down to the river while Cynder proceeded to collect firewood. A clever trick that Spyro had learned was using his electric breath to paralyze the fish causing them to float up to the surface, to which both he and Draco would grab the fish before the paralysis wore off. By the time they had returned, the sun was already setting, and Draco's stomach had become even more demanding. Upon returning to the cave, Cynder had already set up the firewood, which Spyro then breathed his fire breath on it to alight, and all three of them sat by the fire, cooking their fish on a stick. Before he went to sleep, Draco looked up at the stars across the sky, the stars and constellations new and unknown to him, except for one consolation to his great shock he recognized immediately as the one who's name he used as his own.

He was happily looking at the sky until a shooting star flew across it, reminding him of his wish. If him being here was caused by it, then that must mean by tomorrow he'll be back in his old room. At the end of it all, he wished he could spend more time here, and proceeded to reluctantly go back to sleep.

When Draco awoke, he was expecting to be back in his bed, human once more, and would have to study until the school bus arrived, but instead saw that he was still in the same cave with Spyro and Cynder, who were currently still sleeping, and still a dragon. He then proceeded to walk outside after giving a few morning stretches and began to watch the sunrise. He didn't know why he was still here, but he sure wasn't complaining. Soon, the purple dragon himself proceeded to join him, Draco accepting the company, both continuing to watch the sunrise.

"It sure is beautiful, isn't it?" Spyro passively comments.

"Yeah…" Draco replies.

"Sure wish Ignitus would be able to see this," the purple dragon adds with a saddened expression.

Draco found it upsetting to see one of his favorite characters in fiction sad and thought of telling him the truth about Ignitus, how he was now the new Chronicler and was happily watching over him, but he went against it. That would cause way too many questions that Spyro will no doubt want the answers for, which of course he was not ready to answer yet, but that didn't mean he wouldn't try to help.

"I'm sure he's watching it just like we are."

That got the purple drake to smirk a little. "Yeah, I'm sure he is."

After a few more minutes of watching the sunrise, Draco stood up. "Well, I best start practicing my flying. I have to make up for missing my chance yesterday."

"Sure," Spyro says. "Hey, if you want any pointers, don't be afraid to ask me."

The dragon boy just gave a somber smirk. "Heh, sorry Spyro, but I don't think the ancestors will be able to help me with flying like they did for you."

He then turned and proceeded down the path to the field below him, leaving a baffled Spyro behind wondering, "What did he mean by that?"
