Prologue: Abandonment
In the middle of the ocean two unknown Pokemon are making their way across the sea on the back of another. Traveling in the dead of night no one knows the identities of the three. They were bickering over something, about what to do. They had apparently picked up something undesirable and couldn't decide whether to get rid of it now or later.
"Just toss it. What point is there in us keeping this useless thing?" One of them huffed.
"What if it ends up being useful later? We can use it as a bargaining chip!"
"What kind of bargaining chip would it be. If the thing hatches we're stuck with figuring out how to get rid of it in a completely different manner. At least while it's still an egg it's not that hard to throw out."
"Cheshire's right you know. We can't just keep a liability with us in the off chance someone catches up. If it hatches they'll more than likely treat it as one of our own and it does us no good trying to bargain using it. Just toss the thing into the ocean and be done with it." With a sigh the one who was trying to reason with the others to keep the egg leaned over and dropped it into the water where it sunk to the bottom with little to no resistance.
The egg settled into the sand at the bottom as the water types who lived there watched it curiously and swam to avoid it on its descent to the ocean floor. Time passed as the egg sat there, sometimes jostled by waves. Algae started to form and grow on the egg and covered the majority of its surface, with the growth of the plant life on the egg it slowly started to change after being submerged for so long. More time passed and a large storm came causing monstrous waves that affected even the deepest part of the sea. With the force of the waves the egg shifted and was propelled from its long set resting place off toward a location unknown to anyone, let alone the life inside the egg.
As the egg was pulled by the water it eventually settled again in calm waters unbeknownst to the residents who resided in the town situated around the coast of the eggs new resting area. More time passed but it won't be long before someone discovers the peculiarity in the depths of their waters.
