Summary: Blaine has the best little nephew ever. That's why he's agreed to babysit him once every other week while his brother and sister-in-law are working. And hey, maybe he will finally work up the courage to speak to that gorgeous barista from the coffee shop around the corner.
Important: I don't own Glee and their characters! I also apologize for any mistakes. English is not my mother tongue. This story is Blaine P.O.V. fully.
Hello!
A year and half too late. Woops, sorry!
I noticed I made a mistake between the first and third chapter. In the first chapter I made Blaine 22, but in the third chapter he couldn't drink alcohol, because he hadn't reached the legal age yet. So, to make things clear: Blaine's 20. I will go and change it soon.
More Klaine fluff coming your way in this chapter. So enjoy!
Chapter 4
The morning after the date, Blaine woke up early. He heard Leah roaming around in the kitchen and he watched his clock with pinched eyes. It was 7am. Groaning, he sat up in bed and held his head, feeling a bit dizzy. He was probably drunk in love. When he swung his legs over the side of his bed and put his head between his knees, the dizziness faded away.
Blaine grabbed his phone and saw three text messages. One by one he opened them.
BRO! How was your date? Me and Ru want to know EVERYTHING. And Lars screeches 'hi'.
Chuckling, Blaine sent a short reply to his brother, letting them know he would come over in the afternoon for coffee.
Blainey! I need all the details on your date. Call me or better yet, meet me for coffee?
Blaine sent a reply back to Linnea, asking if she would be okay to go for coffee at the coffee shop around the corner from NYU's library.
Before he could open the next message, Linnea already sent back an excited 'yes! In an hour?'
Blaine first opened the last text. His heart skipped a beat, it was from Kurt!
Good morning, Blaine. I have an early start at the coffee shop, so my night was short. Not that I care, because our date together last night was the best one I've ever had. Are you free next Friday? I hope I'm not being too forward, but I really want to see you again. X Kurt.
Blaine's heart made a few salto's in his chest and he quickly started to reply.
Good morning, Kurt. I had an amazing time aswell. Can't we meet up earlier? I really don't know if I can go a full week without Kurt Hummel. I think I'm addicted already.
It was a bit of a bold move to send that text, but Blaine wasn't afraid of Kurt's reaction. He already felt comfortable enough around Kurt to be able to send that.
Kurt was probably busy working in the coffee shop right now, so Blaine quickly replied Linnea's text to say an hour would be fine.
He got out of bed, put together an outfit quickly and gelled his hair back the way he always did. After years and years of practising, he could now gel his hair in under 5 minutes and it was really convenient when he had little time, like now.
Half an hour later he made his way over to the subway. He loved the fact he was living in Manhattan and he could reach his school in a reasonable amount of time. It was only 10 minutes by train and then another 2 minute walk to him and Linnea's favourite coffee shop just around the corner from school.
He had considered going to the coffee shop where Kurt worked, in Brooklyn, but he didn't want to keep Kurt from his work too much. He would maybe pop by quickly when he would visit Cooper, Runa and Lars later today. Also, it was way out of Linnea's way to go to Brooklyn now, since she would have to go to work at a cinema in Manhattan later that day.
Blaine was very happy he always had weekends off. His job at the library was only for two nights during the week, so during his two days off he had time to spend time with family, doing homework and writing his novel. And now… he had time to spend time with Kurt aswell.
Kurt… Blaine hoped he would text with a proposition to meet up soon. He didn't know how long he could cope without the presence of Kurt Hummel.
Another 15 minutes later he reached the coffee shop and he already saw Linnea sitting there. She was the luckiest bastard who lived only 2 minutes away from school, so 4 minutes away from this coffee shop. She already had two cups of steaming coffee in front of her and Blaine's smile widened.
"Blainey!" Linnea exclaimed and pulled her sister's brother in law (although she liked to refer to Blaine as her best friend) into a bone crushing hug. Because she was from Norway (Linnea had been only a few months old when the Falk family had moved to the USA), she was big, with pretty blonde hair and sparkly blue eyes. She had the single guys in New York City kissing the floor she walked on.
But Linnea wasn't interested in those single men. She had been hurt by an ex boyfriend, so she swore off men for the time being. Blaine was very proud of his best friend for choosing her own happiness.
The next hour or two contained of the two friends talking Blaine's date with Kurt and recreating every moment that made Blaine's stomach flutter. Linnea concluded that Kurt was just as smitten with Blaine as Blaine was with him. Blaine, ofcourse, already knew that and was sincerely happy he had found Kurt.
They concluded their coffee meet up when Linnea had to go to work, so after their goodbyes, Blaine decided to go to Brooklyn to visit Cooper, Runa and Lars, but not before he had seen Kurt, even it was only through the window of the coffee shop.
Blaine stopped in front of the shop, glancing in. At the exact same time, Kurt looked up from his work and stared right into Blaine's eyes. His eyes widened comically and he got an enormous grin around his lips. Blaine's heart immediately skipped a beat and he decided to go in, getting coffee for Coop and Ru.
"Hey stranger," Kurt exclaimed as soon as Blaine reached the counter. Blaine leaned over the counter and pressed a kiss on Kurt's cheek before he could think about it. The way Kurt's cheeks coloured a pretty shade of red had Blaine's stomach flutter.
"Hey yourself, I couldn't help but to come and see you. I'm on my way to Cooper, Runa and Lars and I decided to surprise them with better coffee than they could ever make at home."
"You are the sweetest," Kurt said with sparkling eyes and stared at Blaine while he spoke out the order, then proceeded to make said order quickly and professionally. Blaine stared right back, being amazed at how good Kurt looked while doing something as simple as making coffee.
"Did you have any chance to reply to my text?" Blaine wondered out loud, feeling his cheeks redden.
"No, what did you answer?" Kurt looked slightly nervous and Blaine had no idea why. Didn't Kurt know how much he liked him?
"You look like I'm going to turn you down. I really like you, Kurt. I asked if we could meet up earlier, because I don't think I can go without being around you for a whole week."
Kurt's cheeks reddened even more and he scratched the back of his head. "How's Wednesday afternoon working for you? I only have half a day at Vogue and I took the evening off to help a friend with a project, so I don't have to work here."
"That sounds amazing. I only have a morning lecture that day. It would work perfectly." Blaine's eyes sparkled in the low light of the coffee shop.
"It's a date then," Kurt said exitedly and handed over the two paper cups to Blaine, who took them eagerly.
"It's definitely a date. Text me Vogue's address and the time you're finished, I'll come pick you up."
"Okay, Blaine. See you then."
"See you, Kurt," and Blaine moved back to the coffee shop's entrance slowly when Kurt had to handle a middle aged woman who had questions about every single ingredient in a hazelnut latte.
Once outside, Blaine did a little happy dance, trying not to look too much like a fool. He had another date with the amazing Kurt Hummel! Now he had to come up with the perfect idea for a date. He would pay this time and he wouldn't take no for an answer, even if Kurt tried to fight him for it.
Blaine skipped all the way to Cooper, Runa and Lars and proceeded to ring the bell, after he watched the time and made sure Lars wasn't napping. He got buzzed in and was met with a loud shriek of his nephew, who sat in the door opening under the watchful eye of his mother.
"Hey Blaine!" Runa exclaimed and widened her arms, catching Blaine in a tight hug. "Good to see you. Your brother will be back any minute from the grocery store."
"That's fine," and Blaine lifted up Lars, who moved around in his arms so he watched Blaine with big eyes. Blaine pressed a big, wet kiss on Lars' cheek, which made his baby nephew giggle. Runa giggled aswell and they moved to the living room, where Blaine put Lars down on the playing mat. Lars proceeded to grab several stuff and gave it to Blaine, who took it with a bright smile.
"Thank you, Lars!" Blaine exclaimed happily, which made Lars giggle, which made both Blaine and Runa laugh aswell. At that point they heard a noise coming from the front door and Lars squealed loudly. Cooper's head appeared from behind the door and smiled widely at his son, who reached his arms to him. Cooper picked up Lars and bounced him around, making Lars laugh even louder.
Blaine handed over the steaming cups of coffee and told Runa and Cooper about his date with Kurt and also told the fact he had already planned a new date.
"He must really like you, Blaine," Runa said, her eyes sparkling. "You deserve it."
"You do deserve it!" Cooper exclaimed loudly and first bumped the air. Lars watched his father with big eyes, then reached for his uncle, who took him in his arms, cuddling him close.
They talked all afternoon and Blaine even got some ideas for the date with Kurt. Around 7 in the evening he decided to leave his brother's house and went home, where he had dinner with Leah, who also asked a lot of questions about his date.
At around 10, he saw his phone lighting up, alerting him of an incoming call from his crush.
"Hey!" Blaine answered happily and was met with a tired sounding Kurt at the other side.
"Hey, what a day. One of the afternoon slash evening shifts called in sick, so I just worked a double shift. I'm on my way home right now, but I really wanted to hear your voice."
Blaine's heart skipped a beat. "I'm honoured I was the first one on your mind to call."
"You've been on my mind for the last few days, it's not that weird," Kurt answered sweetly.
"How was your day, other than tiring?" Blaine held on to the phone like it was a treasure.
"There were a lot of difficult costumers today, so I can't wait to be home, take a shower and fall asleep. Tomorrow I'll spend the whole day helping my roommate with her project for school. She can be rather difficult to work with, much like some of my costumers, so I need my beauty rest."
"I can imagine…" Blaine mumbled and then proceeded to give a quick summary of his day to a curious Kurt, who, despite his fatigue, was listening to Blaine very well.
"I've reached my building, Blaine. I'll have to hang up now," Kurt said regretfully.
Blaine also felt regret, but knew that they would stay in touch in the upcoming days until their date on Wednesday. He greeted Kurt and then fell down on his bed, waiting for Leah to be done in the bathroom.
The next day Blaine woke up after an amazing night of sleep. He felt like he had deserved it, after the eventful days. He woke up to a text from Kurt, who, according to the message, had a bad start of the day.
I need to get back to bed. I stepped out, proceeded to trip over some stuff on the floor and I fell face down on the floor. Now my nose is slightly crooked. Rachel, my roommate slash friend slash project partner for the day put some ice on it, so it should be fine. How was the start of your day? X
Blaine laughed softly, then quickly opened a blank text message.
That sounds rough. Wish I could be there to put a tiny, sweet kiss to your nose to make it heal faster. Good luck today with the project. I just woke up after a wonderful nine hours of sleep, so I can't say I had a rough start. Speak to you soon.
Blaine started this sunday with French toast, which he whipped up for himself and Leah. Leah then had to run to have an extra training with her cheerleading squad, which left Blaine in an empty, silent house. He decided to take advantage of that and opened his laptop, opening the folder of his book.
He typed all morning until his eyes started watering, feeling slightly sore after spending all this time behind a screen.
His attention got pulled away from his computer when he saw his phone light up, alerting him of a text. He immediately knew it was from Kurt and he swallowed, wetting his dry throat when his thoughts were confirmed.
Thanks a lot, Blaine Anderson. Now I can't focus enough on my project with Rachel, because all I can think about are your lips on my nose. That sounds so weird written like that, but you know what I mean.
Blaine laughed out loud reading the text; he pictured a flustered Kurt, cheeks red and biting his lips, typing this message.
Thanks, Kurt, for the laugh. I've spend the whole morning writing my novel and I'm so tired already, while it's not even that late yet… So make me laugh, I really like it.
It didn't take long for Kurt to answer.
Damn it! You're also a writer? Is there something you're not good at, Blaine Anderson?
Blaine giggled and proceeded to lay down on the couch, searching for a comfortable position.
I'm really not that good at washing my clothes. I always manage to mess up my white shirts, or I shrink my underwear. It's gotten so bad that my roommate volunteered to do my laundry. I don't mind, it's pretty convenient. So if you're thinking about a future with me, you should know that you will be the laundry-guy in the relationship. ;)
Again, a bold text-message, but Blaine just knew Kurt could see the joke in it.
You're lucky I've always been into fashion, so I treat my clothes with the right amount of respect. I will do that to your adorable polo-shirts and bow-ties aswell.
You think my clothes are adorable? You might not see it, but I'm fist bumping the air right now, I'm so happy! I really can't wait to see you again, Kurt.
It took a full 15 minutes before Blaine received a response from Kurt. It made him slightly nervous, even though Blaine knew Kurt wanted to see him again aswell, otherwise they wouldn't have scheduled a second date.
I speak to you soon, Blaine. I really need to go now.
That was strange. Blaine got extremely worried now. Maybe he got a call from his family? Maybe his cat died? Maybe his roommate lost her mind and hurt Kurt? Maybe…
Blaine was searching for all kinds of bad scenarios. How else could he explain Kurt's behavior? He read through the texts they had sent each other, but he could find nothing wrong. It couldn't be his fault, now could it?
After an hour of pacing around the living room, cleaning his dishes, trying to get his mind off of Kurt by blasting loud music through his speakers, he heard a knock on the door. He had no idea who it could be, but he turned his music off, dried his hands and walked to the door.
Opening it, his eyes widened when he spotted Kurt. He had no chance to say something, because Kurt moved closer to him and pressed his lips on his. Blaine closed his eyes and wrapped his arms tightly around Kurt's shoulders, pulling him into the apartment, closing the door with his foot.
He proceeded to place Kurt against said door and continued kissing him, prying open his lips with his tongue. A tiny moan came from Kurt's mouth and it sent Blaine straight into heaven.
When he had to come up for air, he moved away from Kurt with a heavy sigh and stared into his eyes with what he hoped was a loving look. Kurt's eyes were sparkling and Blaine couldn't get enough of them.
"I'm so sorry, Blaine, I just really needed to do this after your last text. I haven't worried you, have I?" Kurt had his underlip between his teeth and he looked so extremely hot, Blaine could barely handle himself.
"Not worried? You didn't exactly send a tactful text. I was worried, I thought I did something wrong."
"You could never do something wrong, Blaine Anderson," and Kurt placed his lips back on Blaine's again and what followed was another amazing kiss.
"You're really amazing, Kurt," Blaine sighed out while he had to breathe again, regretfully…
"You aswell…" Kurt said.
"Would you like to stay for lunch? I could whip something up for us? My roommate is out practicing, so it'll be just the two of us," Blaine suggested, slightly out of breath because of their wonderful kiss. Or actually, multiple kisses.
"That sounds amazing, Blaine. I'm really hungry." Kurt looked back at Blaine with sparkly eyes. Blaine rewarded Kurt with a bright smile and took his hand, pulling him into the kitchen and placing him at the dinner table, on the chair which usually held Leah.
"Sit down and let me woo you with my cooking skills," Blaine joked as he opened the drawer and juggled with two forks while he held his eyes on Kurt, who rolled them back at him.
"Show off," Kurt mumbled and stuck out his tongue when Blaine, pretending to be hurt by his comment, pouted. The brown haired boy took pity on him, jumping up and pressing a tiny, but loving kiss on Blaine's lips.
In just a few minutes, Blaine whipped up some egg salad sandwiches with tomato and cucumber on the side. Soon enough, they were munching away and making small talk, because after their heavy talk during their date, it was what they both needed.
"What's your roommate like?" Kurt wondered out loud, while looking at the picture of her and Blaine on the wall of the kitchen, both smiling brightly into the camera. Blaine had one arm around her shoulders, while she had her head cuddled into his shoulder. She was in her cheerleader tenue and while Blaine was on the smaller side, Leah was even smaller, the top of her head barely touching Blaine's shoulder. "It's a cute picture of the two of you."
"Leah's amazing. She has a full cheerleading scholarship. She's your typical cheer-girl and she wants to be a professional cheerleader at a famous football club. She's not mean though, she's actually very accepting of everything around her. Her boyfriend is actually transgender and she loves the fact she has a gay guy as a roommate. It also makes her boyfriend very relieved."
Blaine laughed when he thought back on his first meeting with Sammy, Leah's boyfriend. He saw the doubt in Sammy's eyes when Blaine had opened the door to let him in. Blaine had taken pity on the poor guy immediately though and he had stage whispered in his ear that he was gay. The boy had immediately softened and introduced himself politely as Sammy. Leah had been estastic because the meeting went well.
"I can imagine," Kurt spoke softly, bringing back Blaine to the real world. A world where Kurt was sitting across of him, so it would always be better than the thoughts in his mind. Blaine focused his full attention back to Kurt, who was watching Blaine with adoring eyes, resting his face in the palm of his hand, his elbow on the table next to his plate.
"If you wait just a little bit, you can meet her?" Blaine spoke those words a little insecure, because maybe Kurt thought it was too early to be meeting important people in Blaine's life…
"Blaine, wipe that frown of your face and stop worrying. I would love nothing more than to meet her."
Kurt immediately calmed Blaine down with a touch of his hand on his. Blaine watched their intertwined hands, loving the way the pale skin of Kurt fit perfectly with Blaine's slightly darker skin.
Blaine stood up when both their plates were empty and made some more sandwiches, offering Kurt, who shook his head in thanks. Then Blaine wrapped up the sandwiches in plastic and placed them in the fridge, keeping them fresh for Leah.
"Thank you so much for lunch, Blaine. I said I was hungry, but I was seriously starving as soon as the first bite entered my mouth. I tend to forget eating when I'm working with Rachel."
"Oh! The famous Rachel. Tell me about your roommate!"
Kurt chuckled and moved to the living room, where he sat down on the couch, patting the space next to him. Blaine gladly took place next to Kurt, as close as possible. Kurt smirked and proceeded to turn so he faced Blaine, curling his feet underneath his body.
"How to describe Rachel Berry… She's… interesting and intense. She's a student at NYADA. New York Academy of Dramatic Arts. She has her heart set on being a Broadway performer. And I can't picture her doing anything else. She's a diva and she often puts her needs in front of other's. But if you really know her, she's a great friend. She would walk through fire for me and I'd do the same for her."
"She sounds interesting indeed, and a lot different than my roommate," Blaine exclaimed and looked up when he heard the front door open. "Speak of the devil, that's her…"
Kurt stood up and moved gracefully to the hallway where a surprised Leah shrugged out of her coat and placed it on the coat reck. "Hello?"
"Hi. You must be Leah, I'm Kurt." And he put out his hand towards Leah's to shake it.
Leah's eyes widened and looked at Blaine with a big grin, who was in the hallway also, lingering behind Kurt slightly nervous.
"Oh, Kurt! I've heard so much about you. Blaine hasn't shut up about you, actually." Leah grinned even wider at that statement and Blaine groaned behind Kurt, who whipped around and grinned too, watching Blaine's cheeks colour a cute shade of red.
"No need to be embarrassed, Blaine. Our whole meeting is one big embarrassment." He winked, which made Blaine even more unsteady on his feet.
Leah was now full on laughing, opening the door to her bedroom and throwing her sports bag in, closing the door rather quickly so both her roommate and his… date couldn't see the mess.
"If you're hungry, Leah, I made some sandwiches. They're wrapped in plastic in the fridge."
Leah's eyes lit up at that statement and moved to the kitchen, leaving Kurt and Blaine alone in the hallway, who moved back to the couch and cuddled close on it, leaving even less space in between one another than before.
They heard Leah roam around in the kitchen in the background, but they only had eyes for one another. They placed their hands together and Blaine moved his fingers over Kurt's soft skin.
"You drive me crazy, Blaine," Kurt responded and sent him a cute grin.
"You do the same to me…" Blaine answered.
Kurt sighed rather loudly and watched the big clock on the wall in Leah and Blaine's living room. Blaine worried his eyebrows together and watched his crush worry his lip in between his teeth. It drove him crazy some more.
"I actually have to go… I really promised Rachel I would help her with her project and while I was slightly distracted before, because I really wanted to kiss you, I should now head home and devide my full attention to her. She's been very respectful of my decision to visit you, though, she's not mad in the slightest."
"Thanks for coming over, Kurt, and for kissing me. I really regretted not doing that after our date."
Kurt blushed at that statement and moved off the couch, into the hallway, where he plucked his coat of the rack and called out a goodbye to Leah with a promise to hang out soon. Leah called back she would absolutely love that.
Kurt then turned his full attention to Blaine, who stood with his arms wide open to say goodbye to Kurt aswell, though in a different manner than Leah.
"I will miss you, Kurt. See you on Wednesday for our date?"
"Ofcourse, Blaine, see you then. I can't wait."
After those words, Blaine let go of Kurt, from his arms and watched him move out of his apartment, dancing down the stairs and staring back at him, waving until it wasn't physically possible to spot him anymore.
Regretfully and with a big sigh, Blaine closed the door and moved to the kitchen, where Leah was eating the sandwiches Blaine made for her.
"He's amazing, Blaine!" Leah exclaimed and Blaine nodded, because it was absolutely true.
Blaine was so very much in love with Kurt Hummel. Although he wouldn't admit that to any other people, including Kurt, just yet…
