Hello everyone! It's been a while since I wrote this story, since I was preoccupied with a bunch of other stuff, sorry...Anyway, I also started this other fic called A New Dark, which is a crossover between the Shades of Magic series, which literally has 13 fics total on this website, which is SO SAD, and Avengers. Basically the Avengers try to travel back in time, but end up going to Red London instead. You'll have to read the rest to find out. Anyway, enjoy!

Chapter 4:

It was around ten o'clock when they finally stopped talking. Tessa looked up at the huge clock mounted on the far wall and said, with surprise, "Oh jeez, it's already almost ten, we'd better get to sleep so we're not super tired tomorrow!"

Jem had a mildly surprised expression on his face as he said, "Oh my, Tessa, you are right. It's quite late. Um, I'm guessing you don't know where your room is? How about I walk you up there…" he looked a little unsure.

"Sure," Tessa replied, smiling. Inside she was thinking, Oh my? And I thought it was a stereotype. The longer she lived in London, the more she was beginning to think the stereotypes were all true. Suddenly, Will's voice jolted her out of her reverie.

"Eh! Who's going to walk me upstairs?" he asked loudly, still sprawled on his armchair. Tessa and Jem both laughed. "I'm serious, what if I get lonely?" Will protested. They laughed even harder; Will now had a harassed expression on his face.

Suddenly Charlotte Branwell bustled into the room. It was so sudden that Tessa wondered if she had been standing outside the entire time. Indeed, she had quite a pleased look on her bird-like face. "You lot had better go to bed." she looked at Tessa. "Do you know where the rooms are, dear?"

"Um, Jem offered to show me where they were." "Oh, that's nice of him!" she beamed at Jem, who smiled back. "Well then you're all good to go?" Charlotte inquired.

"Yeah, thank you." Charlotte disappeared just as quickly as she came, rushing away out the door of the library.

When Jem and Tessa got upstairs, Jem showed her to her room in the seemingly endless series of identical hallways with identical doors. Finally, they stopped at one.

Jem said, "Well, here's you. This side of the hallway is girls, so Jessamine is over there," he gestured at another door two down from Tessa's, "and she doesn't have any roommates, so you'll have Cecily. That's Will's younger sister, by the way, but she's not coming till tomorrow, she only transferred here last year. Mine and Will's room is right over there," he pointed at a door on the other side of the hallway. "So if you need anything, feel free to bang on the door."

Tessa nodded, "Okay," she said. At that moment, Tessa noticed the way the light from the lanterns fell onto Jem's silver eyes and hair. Beautiful, she thought, before mentally slapping herself, thinking You just met him! Are you some Disney princess? She blushed.

Jem smiled, seeming not to notice. "So, good night, then."

"Good night."

Okay, there's another chapter! Sorry if you think these are too short...I'm not really that interested in this story any more, but I promised I would continue it so...I might end up changing the plot or something.
