A/N: This was supposed to be an OTP one-shot….then a two shot. It is now officially a four chapter fic, with the possibility of a one-shot follow up around Christmas. We'll see. I'm not saying this is the funniest thing I've ever written, but it is hilarious. The Dinner, Ch 2.

Disclaimer: I don't own Chuck

"Sarah, I need to ask you something very important," Chuck said. He stood in front of Ellie's door, hand raised to knock, but stalling.

"Whatever it is, it can't be bigger than going and meeting her," Sarah replied, laughing and shoulder bumping him.

"Really?" he asked, and she nodded. "Run away and elope with me."

"Does that mean we don't have to see Ellie right now, and get yelled at?" she asked.

"Absolutely," Chuck replied. Sarah grabbed his hand, pulled on it, and he let himself be pulled.

At that moment, the door swung open, and there stood Ellie. "Get in here," she said, a smile on her face. With that, she turned and walked off.

"Out of curiosity, if she hadn't have shown up…" Chuck began but trailed off, a smile on his face.

"How do you feel about taking my last name?" she asked, and then giggled as she walked through the door, leaving him standing there, stunned.

"Better and better," he replied.

Not only did tonight's dinner consist of Ellie and Devon, but also Bryce, Jill, and Morgan. Everyone wanted to know how they met, and why they would keep it a secret so long from their friends.

Sarah stood back. She wasn't feeling like an outsider, but she knew she was the least known of anyone there. She watched Chuck with everyone, and found a happy smile on her face.

"You know, I always knew he could make someone smile like that," she heard a soft voice behind her. Sarah turned, and there was Ellie. "You two really are serious."

"Yeah, we are," she admitted. "There's going on dates, and then there's being with that special someone… you know?"

"I do," Ellie replied, her vision catching her boyfriend mingling. "I'm not mad, regardless of what Chuck tells you."

"We know you're not, but… this is all… intense, and I knew it would be, because…" She trailed off, looked over her shoulder at Chuck, and then back to Ellie. She couldn't keep the smirk off her face. "This is Chuck, this is what I would expect. When it's quiet, it's quiet, but when it's his friends, and the people and things important to him…"

"It's intense," Ellie finished as Sarah trailed off. Sarah nodded. "Too much?"

"Oh, God, no," Sarah replied. "I mean, it is, but he makes it all okay." Ellie laughed. "I never, ever needed anyone, before I met him." Ellie nodded. "Sure, having someone would have been nice. But just to be with someone, to be with them." She shook her head. "No." She looked over to the side and a smile covered her face. "When I'm not with him now, I miss him, and I've never missed anyone like that before in my life."

"Then be with him," Ellie replied with a shrug. Sarah's smile intensified. "I know this: the last four months I haven't seen him nearly as much… now I know why." Sarah winced. "It's okay, really, but when I did see him or talk to him, something was just… different. He's happy."

"Dinner everyone!" Devon yelled.

"Come on," Ellie said, nodding toward the table. "I have to hear how you met." Sarah gave an eyeroll that made Ellie laugh out loud.

Sarah walked up to the car that Brad had just exited, and looked at the front seat. "Uh, Brad? Who is in the front seat of your car?"

"It's my sister, Brenda," Brad replied. "We're twins."

"And we're going on a date together?" Sarah asked, thinking about turning around and going back into her apartment.

"It's a double date," Brad said. "She's going out with this guy who's got some money, and I worry he's used to getting what he wants, when he wants it, if you know what I mean." Sarah nodded, but really wasn't, in statement of fact, entirely sure what he meant. "I just need to make sure she's okay."

"Okay," Sarah replied, thinking she was going to end up kicking herself. "Let's go." Brad opened the back door to the car, to let Sarah get in. Off they went to the restaurant, Brad and Brenda in the front seat, and Sarah in the back. She really considered opening the door and diving out.

Now

"Oh my God," Ellie groaned. "Brenda, who I set up with Chuck?" Chuck nodded. "Went on a double date, and it was with her brother."

"Yup," Chuck replied. Ellie shook her head. "You're lucky I met Sarah on this date, or I might never speak to you again."

"It couldn't have been that bad," Ellie insisted.

"It was their birthday," Sarah replied. Ellie closed her eyes in horror.

When they got to the restaurant, Brad quickly ran around, and opened the door for Brenda. The two started inside, leaving Sarah in the car.

}o{

Now

"Okay, wait," Ellie said, stopping the story. "Seriously, why not get a cab, why not an uber, a Lyft, hitchhike with a psychopath, or walk?"

"You ever witness a car crash, and just can't look away?" Sarah asked. Ellie laughed.

"There he is," Brenda said. Sarah watched a tall skinny guy wave from his seat, and they started toward the table. "We can't sit here," Brenda told him, as she approached.

"Oh, I'm sorry," Chuck said.

"Brenda needs her back to the wall, so no one can stab her from behind while she sits in a restaurant," Brad explained.

"Do you not tip the waiter well?" Chuck asked, grinning. Sarah snorted and turned away. Brad and Brenda just stared at him. Chuck cleared his throat and signaled a waiter. "We're gonna need a booth, with a back, preferably next to a wall. And make sure I get the check."

"Told ya," Brad said leaning in toward Sarah. "These rich people always get what they want."

}o{

Now

"Exactly what did I want, and how am I rich?" Chuck asked.

"Wait," Sarah said, with mock shock on her face. "You're not rich?" Ellie laughed out loud.

"Shut up," he said, as she grinned at him and shoulder bumped him.

"I think because you own your own company, he thought you were rich," Sarah explained. "And apparently you are used to getting your way with things."

"I am?" Chuck asked, looking at Ellie. Ellie scratched the back of her neck.

"I may have said you were successful and a new product was supposed to launch very soon that would be a game changer," Ellie admitted. Chuck gave her a look. "I never said you were rich." Chuck continue to give her a look. "Comfortable? Perhaps."

"I am comfortable," he said, putting his arms over Sarah's shoulder.

"Like really comfortable?" Sarah asked, messing with him.

"Yeah," he said staring into her eyes. Sarah swallowed.

"Ahem," Morgan literally said, breaking up the moment. "Can I say even Ifind this entire date weird?"

"It got worse," Chuck said.

"Do me a favor," Brad said to Sarah, sitting across from him. Sarah was still trying to figure out why she was sitting in the booth beside Chuck, and Brenda and Brad were sitting together.

"Sure," Sarah replied. She was a little nervous what it might be.

"Don't let us see you tell the waiters that it's my birthday," Brad began.

"Oh, happy birthday," Chuck said.

Brad stared at him. "We're twins," he stressed.

"Right," Chuck said, and turned to Brenda. "Happy birthday."

"And make sure we both get desserts," Brenda chimed in. "In fact, we're going to the bathroom."

"Together?" Sarah blurted out.

"I mean me to the men's, and her to the women's," Brad said, with a look that she was stupid. "How else are you gonna order our birthday desserts." With that, they got up and left.

"I don't know you well, but if you ever say pineapple, we both bolt out of here," Chuck said, still looking straight ahead, like he couldn't believe what was going on.

"If you were a clown with an icepick, I'd still get in the car with you, before them," Sarah said. "I rode here with them."

"I'm not, I'm just a regular guy. But if you'd like, I can give you a ride home after this is over with," Chuck said, glancing at her.

"Will that be after both of us leave their house tonight, because we got lucky?" Sarah asked. Chuck's eyes widened, and he burst into laughter as Sarah joined him.

}o{

Now

"Why would you say that?" Ellie asked.

"It was to the point I was trying to figure out the worst possible way this date could end," Sarah admitted.

"You had to be there, Ellie… it was like we were both drowning, and the only way to survive was to share the lifesaver."

"How did dessert go?" Morgan asked.

"I'm telling you, they skimped on both our desserts," Brad grumbled to Brenda, as the two walked out of the restaurant together.

"Do they even realize we're here?" Chuck whispered to Sarah.

"God, I hope not," Sarah replied. "That ride still an option?"

"Absolutely," Chuck said. Brad stopped and spun, making both Sarah and Chuck stop and straighten.

"Next up is an Escape Room!" Brad said cheerfully. "We'll have two hours to get out." Brad spun around and led them down the street.

"This is where they kill us and hide the bodies," Chuck said, without moving his lips.

"If we get out of this, I'm buying you a drink," Sarah told him.

"Why?" he asked, genuinely confused.

"Because without you I think I would have murdered those two," Sarah replied.

"How evil," Chuck said. "You could at least let me help." Sarah grinned at him and bumped his shoulder.

}o{

Now

"Chuck, I am so sorry about that," Ellie said.

"I'm not," Chuck replied. "I met the love of my life."

"I thought we agreed not to talk about Brenda like that," Sarah teased.

"I have a serious question," Bryce began. Everyone turned to him. "If I said Game of Thrones…" he trailed off as Chuck and Sarah looked really uncomfortable. "No," he said.

"It was weird," Chuck admitted.

They were in the escape room lobby. Brad had presented a coupon that guaranteed him and his date a spot in the escape room. Brenda had forgotten to bring hers. Sarah looked ready to panic.

"Listen," Chuck said. "They only have room for two, and it is yours and Brenda's birthday," Chuck began.

"And I wouldn't dare dream of asking you two not to get to enjoy your birthday night," Sarah added. Brad looked to be wavering. "Can I talk to you over here?" Sarah asked. Brad nodded and walked over to her. "Do you really want to leave her alone with him? You know how rich guys are." Brad's eyes went wide, and he turned and headed back to Chuck and Brenda.

"If you don't mind Chuck, my sister and I will go with this group, and you two hang out here and try and get into the next one," Brad said.

"You know what, I've got to get some stuff done at the office, so why don't I call it a night? It was lovely to meet you two," Chuck began.

"And I have to be up early in the morning," Sarah added. "You don't mind giving me a ride, do you?" Sarah asked.

"Well," Brad said, grinning. "This worked out great… except for the skimpy desserts."

Chuck started to say something when the guide called. They said their goodbyes and Chuck and Sarah watched them get locked inside their escape room.

"I'm going home and drink," Chuck muttered.

"Can I join you?" Sarah asked.

"Absolutely."

}o{

Now

"You went home with him?" Jill asked, her eyes wide. "I mean… I'm not saying… you didn't spend the night, right?"

Sarah twisted her lips, amusement on her face.

"She fell asleep… on my bed. We were watching movies," Chuck said.

"Ohhhh," Bryce replied with a nod. "I knew you'd never do something like that." Chuck felt her squeeze his leg under the table.

The two had shared a bottle of wine, laughed over the crazy night, and turned on the classic movie channel. They talked, and when Sarah talked about her best friend Jill, Chuck came to the realization Sarah was the person Bryce and Jill had been trying to get him to have a blind date with. Chuck told Sarah about them, and she admitted they had done the same to her.

The two fell asleep. In the morning, Sarah realized that she had sleep through the night and had awakened with an arm over her stomach, her fingers threaded through his. She began to gently play with his hand and then his thumb rubbed over hers. She flipped over, and found herself attacking his face, heat burning through her to the point she thought the fire alarms would go off, but she'd burn up in flames before she stopped.

An hour later, the two were snuggled together, Chuck gently rubbing her arm. "So, I never do this," he began.

"I do, at least once a week," she replied, grinning at him, making him laugh. "No, I don't either," she said, sobering up. "I want to see you again."

"That's good… that means you won't have to get a restraining order on me."

"There's just one problem," she said. She saw panic on his face. "I don't want to hear the I-told-you-so's, and listen to them."

"Oh, God," Chuck breathed. "Ellie will lose her mind."

"What do you think of keeping this a secret?" she asked.

"So, what, we're dating, but on the DL?"

"I mean we just met, and we're dating?" Sarah asked, grinning as Chuck gave her a pointed look. "How about we don't call it that for two weeks?"

"Fine, but I'm gonna think it."

"I didn't say I wasn't going to," she told him. "Six months; let's go six months, and when we get to that point, we'll tell them."

"I like how you said when," Chuck admitted.

"Listen, you were my hero last night. You could have bolted, and left me there," she began.

"I could not," Chuck replied, shrugging.

"I know," she replied softly. She kissed him. "I have a conference call in an hour."

"I'll give you a lift," Chuck said.

"Why don't you get your stuff, and come spend the day with me? Maybe we can watch some movies at my place," she offered. Then she looked at Chuck's TV. "Or, would I be too forward to say we could do that here?"

"That is not too forward… It's just perfect."

}o{

Now

Chuck and Sarah walked out of the apartment, and headed toward her vehicle. "When's the last time we slept alone?" Sarah asked.

"No idea," Chuck admitted. "Why?"

"Do you feel… I don't know, that I'm invading your space?"

"Nope," Chuck replied.

"Offer still stand?" she asked as they got into the car. His eyes went wide, and then he grinned at her. She started the car. "I mean, we should tell them, right?"

"Nah, we told them we were dating, they can find out the rest in a few months," Chuck replied, looking over at her and smiling. Sarah waggled her eyebrows and they took off into the night.
