Author Disclaimer: I do not own Megaman! Hey everyone, man never thought I would ever write Megaman ever again lol. I have written fanfics of the battle network series before back when I was younger but never really posted them to the public, except for my friend in Scottland who really enjoyed them a lot and loved them. Granted he too was bit harsh with some of his critiques, but he literally fell in love with them that he would always ask me when the next story will be made lol.
which was back in like 2003...now 17 years later and here I am, writing a Megaman fanfic to the public to read and see, by a suggestion from another friend of mine. Who suggested and asked me a "What if" Classic and Battle network/Starforce all shared one universe/timeline where Battle network and Star force coexist with the Classic series timelines all the way to ZX.
Which honestly piqued my interest greatly and even had me curious of what would it be like if Classic, X, MMZ and ZX series were to coincide with Battle network and star force. Thus here we are! Please keep in mind some of the things I am writing is from memory and some doing research with the series. Much I am a fan of the series, I do need refreshers here and there and made sure to look into some things.
So yup, I welcome everyone to what and how things will be like if the two timelines did coexist in one. So without further adieu, and without any delay. I hope you all have fun and enjoy reading. I had to make some changes and things that will work and fit for having both Battle Network and Classic to work. So hopefully I did good in those changes, anyway ENJOY!
Also this story will be rated T for reasons...well considering Megaman can be violent sometimes despite being made for children and such. I figure this will be a safe route to take.
Also since I can't add them all, this story will tackle the Classic, X, MMZ and ZX with Battle network and Star force plots being fused and mixed within their plots at certain points in the story. So when you see Rock and Roll as Characters listed, please take note they will be involve a lot within the story. Their not pairings, the two will be interacting a lot with the other series. So just wanted to clear that up.

The Megaman Legacy
Chapter 1: Prelude to it all
The Year 200X
Robotics and Research institute of the culinary arts of progressing the future. A high class academic academy, where scientists, students and prospering researchers come to form new ideas and offer change to what the future holds for the world. This New York city school is the prime candidate to those in the United States, come and gather to produce their research and plans, in hopes of getting funding and support by high corporate business that exists in the world. Three special researchers right now who are almost at the end and ready to show their research. They all hope that whatever they have made will be funded and be accessible to permit their research to go into the next step.
Two researchers who are at their highest peak and have been working together for their robotics program to get passed and billed for the future of humanity. One where robots will be able to do the more tough and rigorous mundane tasks that are more dangerous and harmful to the humans. With all robotics following the three laws of robotics, however- Thomas Light, who dreams of moving the robotic idea forward, has a dream- a righteous one. Where that someday and somehow in the future, where Robotics research has grown to a point that won't end up with a rebellious future. His dream is to be able to program free will and free thinking to his robotic research and successfully make a robot who could think and behave similar to a human and live among the human race. Without the discrimination of being different and treated that like a robot.
Much as Thomas Light will like that dream to be a reality, it will be horrible if that robot. Doesn't follow the three laws and allows it to be alright or okay to harm humans. Even if the free will and thoughts allows it to understand right from wrong? The man is worried that someone in the wrong hands might corrupt that robot's process between just and unjust. Thus why he hopes if his research moves forward and the board committee allows his research to prosper beyond beta testing. The young man sighed as he hoped they would allow his research to move forward, tapped a lot of folders and papers together on his desk...a messy desk at that, with the man laughing and snickering to himself with a happy smile when he heard his partner and friend; Albert Wily. Cussing out when his own parts and tools fell onto his foot.
"Damn!" Wily shouted as the wild brunette bounced up and down in place. Tending to his shoe foot, then let go of it and rolled his foot lightly to see if it was broken. Sighing in relief when he saw it wasn't, bent down after sliding his white lab coat sleeves up his arms. Grabbing his tools that clatter onto the white and brown marble flooring. "Tell me again why us researchers are the messy bunch? I swear to a sane person, they think we are hoarders and messy." He laughed, scooping up wrenches, screwdrivers and small electrical pens. Then just spreading them onto his brown and gray desk. Being very protective and mindful of a rectangle looking device on his desk, with a red and blue faucet turn wheel.
Light, who shook his head, couldn't help but let out a snark as his retort. "Cause if we were clean, we wouldn't be able to find the things we left." Stated the cleaned and smooth hair scientist as he began folding up some blueprints and prototype designs for what he has in store in the future. Along with six other blueprints of industrial robots that will benefit humankind in the workforce. Sliding his chair out and turning it towards him, while then sitting down. "It's been tough but...in just a week from now. We will be able to produce and show our research towards the board meeting, where we will get funded for all our hard work."
The man leans back against the chair and stares up at the ceiling smiling. "To think my dream of creating robots to help mankind, is almost in our reach." Then smiled when Wily snorted and waved his hand back and forth, all in good fun. Knowing his colleague and friend is purposely leaving him out just to rile him. Had Thomas turned his head down and faced his partner across the room, who grabbed onto that device he was working alongside their robotic research.
"Don't forget this baby too-" Wily informed while waving the rectangular device. "A double-gear system that enhances the proficiency of robots, allowing them to give 200% of their work ethics and efforts. Allowing them to speed up production and workforce by 500%!" Exclaimed the riley scientist and held the device in front of his chest. Staring down at it fondly and excitingly, "if this proves to work, we won't have to worry about energy cost and recharges for Robots!"
Light hummed and stared at the device intently, knowing how it works and what Wily explained to him- there was one catch and something Wily insisted that he has fixed multiple times; but...never hurts to be sure and double check. "Wily my friend, you did fix out the bugs right?" Which had Wily look up at him and then grimace when his friend nudged his head towards a pile of rubble in the front of the large research room. Showing one hundred burned out and slightly ruined robots, that were tested and used the double-gear system. "Cause much as it is nice and good having robots enhance their performance. I am worried and concerned that we might be wasting and destroying them- slowing down production rates."
Wily laughed nervously and rubbed his neck sheepishly, "Well- I managed to fix the overheating function of the device. Lesson the amount of heat it produces by…" then sideway glance, "25%- but that's beside the point." He suddenly raised his voice while waving and shaking his head to dismiss any concerns. "This is only a prototype right now, if I get funded and move forward with the research." Then throw his hand towards the many different shelves, drawers and cabinets that scatter across the large research room. "Then be damned! I will be able to have the necessary tools and resources to fully have it functional and not burn out the energy cores to the robots!"
Light smiled and laughed, agreeing with his friend on this. They can only do so much with what they have right now and what the research academy allows them to do. No doubt his friend will be able to fully fix the double-gear system, with the correct and necessary tools. "Alright, but remember-" then smiled brightly. "I am always here to help out, a second opinion is always welcome." Then watched Wily boasting in laughter, nodding his head and happily agreeing with his friend. "By the way, hungry? I believe we can get things more done if we don't eat." Light continued as he got up from his chair and began grabbing his blueprints.
"You read my mind as always," Wily then thumbed his own chest proudly. "If you want I can also help you out, with your prototypes and robotics if you want." The man stated while happily grabbing one blueprint from Light, who happily shook his head and watched Wily open it up. "This is the one you're focusing on right now right?" Wily asked while opening the blueprint and humming as he read and walked alongside Light. Who nodded his head and opened up the brown door, leading out to a fancy and neatly cleaned halls of the academy. Where half white and blue painted walls waited for them. With a nice and decorative static proof rug, that stretches throughout the entire halls of the building, the ceiling lights being energy proficient and cost saving- that gathers natural air particles for it to light up the halls and safe travels for all kinds of scientists.
"Proto-man?" Wily tilt his head and lower one brow and then look at his friend. "Creative as ever…" he teased and watched Light roll his eyes. "Well, it only makes sense as this will be your first free thinking Robot right?" Wily asked and continued reading through the blueprints, the materials he needed and what tools will be useful to making the robot. "This is an odd energy core I heard of...solar power core? Is that possible?" Wily asked and began folding the blueprint back and handing it to Thomas. "Wouldn't that be risky?"
"Yeah I know," sighed Thomas Light while putting the plans under his arms with the rest. "I am waiting until I can find a way to condense it and harness the energy core. Without it overheating, or self damaging and inflicting the prototype. Not only will it be beneficial, but it can make it cost less with how much energy is needed to recharge the robots." Light informed with a smile as they turned around the corner and headed down to the daily research part of the facility. Where scientists will produce products like transportation methods, phone calls, your usual daily life that will make living much easier for both the young, newlywed and elderly people who can't support themselves or don't have the money to do so.
"Right now though, I just need to find some sort of container or coolant storage for said core." Light said while raising one hand, while twirling his finger. "If I can get funded for that then I can move forward with the free thinking robot." Smiled the man, even more so when Wily hummed with interest and grinned like a goofball!
"I see- yeah that makes sense!" Then happily slaps Light's shoulder and shakes the man. "How about this, once I can get my double-gear system up to 50% cool-down. I can go and make a suitable canister to hold the solar energy." Informed the wild hair man, while then letting go of Light's shoulder. "Which by the way?" He suddenly said as they came to a stop near the computer classroom, unaware of the fate that is about to happen. "Have you decided to accept the military offer about making weaponized Robots? I know it's quite a huge deal for you, with how you don't want Robot's to be fighting machines or used to hunt and kill people." Then crossed his arms, watching Light lowering his head and sucking in his lip softly. "Even if the three laws are placed, the military will probably find a way to delete those codes and have the robots you make. To harm people and those in other countries if we were to go to war."
"Yeah that is true," Light hummed and rubbed his chin. "I don't want that for the robots or people fearing said robots, if the military does use them for killing or harming those in other countries." Then sighed, honestly he wants his robots to be helpful and meaningful to the human kind. NOT, be used as means of war and decoration of fear to the robots or PTSD to said any soldiers, who come back home after the war and become fearful at the sight of robots roaming about in their hometown. The man was puzzled of how he should handle this let alone, not having the military use his robotic research in the wrong way.
The man smiled when he found a solution and was about to speak an idea. Only for him and Wily to shield themselves, from a loud explosion happening right next to them of the Computer class! Alerting the two researchers at the room and rushed their way towards the door, both shoulder tackling the door and making their way in- ready and willing to help anyone inside in case there was a fire! Only for the two men to stop and stare dubiously in front of them and...well, the oddness was just beyond their comprehension.
"For crying out loud not again…" Came a female voice within the large smokescreen that was filling the room, but also exiting out of the exhaust pipes in the filter systems of the room. Watching a brunette female researcher coughing and hacking lightly, fanning her hand left to right. "Damn it...what went wrong this time?" Mutter the woman as she leans forward and furrows her brows as the woman, who's lab coat is covered in nothing but soot and dirt. Her face having some smudges of dirt on her cheeks, with her goggles being covered in complete dirt blinding her to anything she's doing. "Let's see...was it the Navi R program not responding correctly to the current circuitry of the computer? Or is it the rendering and processing power not meeting with said, Navi-R programming and processing speed that caused the computer to short-circuit?"
The two men stare and blink their eyes dubiously at the sight, then begin scanning quickly of the room. Not finding or spotting anyone else in the room, but the woman- who is quite face deep into her research and whatever project she is conducting. That the room...is filled with many theories and processing computer works and books about cyber workings and networking processing. Light who walked forward and close to one of the large desks, hummed and paused in front of the desk- spotting an odd canister with liquid flowing through it and looking like a sublime green coloring to it?
With Wily approaching a similar canister with blue glowing looking fluids, as both men were about to touch them and froze when the woman suddenly shouted with mirth. "I wouldn't advise touching those canisters. Unless you want mutations to be happening to your bodies, along with possibly having nuclear waste staining you." Laughed the woman causing the two men to quickly react violently from almost touching the canisters, while having collective sweat drops and deadpanning expressions. When they heard the woman laughing more openly now, standing upright from her position and faces...where she thought the two would be at.
"Sorry it is a joke, there is no nuclear waste in this room. Will ruin protocol and safety hazard for other researchers." Giggle the woman as she goes, lifting her goggles up to her forehead and smiling brightly with emerald eyes. "Hello gentlemen, is everything alright?"
This had Wily and Light stare towards the woman, well...More so Light than Wily getting lost at the woman's beautiful eyes. With Albert sighing and shaking his head, crossing his arms when he then said "says the woman, who just had an explosion happen in the room. Having two top researchers worry for their colleague and rush in, worry for her safety." Then laughed with a bright smile. "Only to wave it off and look to be just fine and dandy. Hell of course there is something wrong, your lab just blew up!" Wily exclaimed while throwing his arms forward at the woman, who flinched as well smirked from the scolding.
"Sorry, sorry- I thought it is normal for scientists to have things blowing up in their labs. Showing that they're going in the right direction with said research." Snicker the woman and turn her attention to Light, who blink his eyes and sheepishly rubs the back of his neck. Then turned to Wily...then she hardened her look, squinting her eyes and did a double take. "WHOA!? Dr Thomas Light and Albert Wily!?" She exclaimed and then smiled brightly and clapped her hands together, "My I didn't expect to actually see you two in my office at all, what brings two top researchers like yourselves here."
Which both men thought at the same time and grimaced lightly, "Did she not realize Wily just told her why we're here?" Light thought while clearing his throat and pointed to the smoking computer screen behind the woman. Who hummed and turned her body halfway to look at said computer, then turned back with a blushing face, rubbing the back of her head responding back.
"Oh right, right," The woman then cleared her throat, "Well first and foremost introduction. My name is Hikari Sara Rosa!" She introduced herself with a bright smile. "I am actually in the middle of a project and research, to make social media and interactions through computers and network systems, to be a thing of the future." She exclaimed, having Wily to groan inwardly to himself and shake his head. Great he thought, another ideologist who thinks their research will outperform his and Light's robotics. "I managed to fully complete the network system and cyberspaces for where this can happen and be done, right now." Then turned towards the destroyed monitor and shook her head.
"I am in the process of being able to make my prototype be complete and fully realized. Just…" then sighed while resting a hand on her left face cheek. "I don't have the right energy source or processing power to even begin my Navi-R project. If I could and managed to sustain a reasonable energy source...let alone, not having a computer blowing up. I can move things forward and allow everyone easy access and management for anyone. Who uses the internet for their daily lives, contact one another through emails and phone calls. Without the worry or hassle of having their identity being stolen or taken from cyber attacks or hackers!"
Wily, whistling in none interest and shakes his head, "Really now? Too bad you won't be able to finish something like that in time." Then smugly grab the edges of his coat. "Cause Light and I, robotic research are near completion and ready to be presented to the board committee." Wily boasted and grabbed the edges of his coat. "Your cyber-whatever is pale compared to what we have in store for the future." Then turned to Light with a big grin. "Right Thomas? No way someone like her research could ever outperform ours!"
This had Light look at Wily for a brief moment and then looked away with a half rolled eye expression. Then shift his gaze forward at Hikari, who looks like she got insulted by his friend. Seeing the hurt in her eyes and the emotion of being teased and made fun of in this facility for her dreams. "Wily, much I don't mind boasting or thinking our research will do well. I can't condone actions about us being better than those here." He said while laughing. Watching Hikari raise a brow and then widened her eyes when Light. Facing her and then playfully pat the back of his hand against Wily's chest, getting the second male to chuckle all in good fun.
"Don't mind him, he does this all the time whenever we see our fellow researchers at work." Light then approaches the woman and watches her nod her head, looking a bit more relaxed now. "So, Cybernetic research?" He hummed out and then heard Wily sigh.
"Light I will go ahead and get something to eat. Make sure to eat alright friend, I am not going to starve here." Joked Albert and waved his friend and Hikari off. "Good luck Hikari, remember-" then smirk under his breath, pausing in place when he opened the door leading out to the hall. "Whatever happens in the future, the reward always goes to the victor." He said under his breath and left the two to their devices, unaware of how things are going to play out by leaving his friend here.
Xxx
Two hours had gone by as Light and Hikari were left alone with the woman describing and showing Dr Light. Showing him her plans and ideas for a future with easy communications and advanced science within the cyber world- that she is hoping she will be able to create and develop in time for the Board meeting. The brunette sighed as she took a bite out of her homemade lunch, that she is sharing with Dr Light- chewing on the sandwich shaking her head. "And that is when you and Wily showed up." She closed her eyes halfway and stared at the destroyed computer. "I have gone through about twenty computers already, and not a single one of them can handle the Navi R program."
Light hummed and looked towards the discarded and destroyed computers, laptops and even tablets that were piled up in the corner. "There is nothing wrong with the program itself, as I made so-so many edits, programming fixes and decompiling folders within the coding. That you'd think a perfectionist got their hands on it and have done an amazing job." She then groaned and shook her head, "granted- I still need to find a way to lessen the memory size and ram needed to run for the program. But...without the Navi R program behaving like a mindless robot," then quickly raised a hand. "No offense of course!"
Having Light laugh loudly with a wide smile, "NONE taken! In fact that doesn't offend me at all on the account, that is why I am taking classes here!" He exclaimed having the woman widen her eyes and opening her mouth in disbelief. "YUP!", he then happily took a bite out of the sandwich she made, humming at how delicious it was. "I am hoping to create a first ever Robot, who could have free thinking and behaving close or similar to that of a human." He informed while moving his free hand against a napkin, while then moving it to his pocket and taking out a small notepad. "Even though Wily knows about it, these are the real plans or personal research for said Free thinking Robot."
"Wait?" The woman then sat upright while leaning forward slightly, adjusting the black and white chair she's sitting on. "Why would you show me this? This- this is something you're personally working on, why would you share this to someone who is-" then blushed a bit when the man also blushed slightly, happily moving the paper forward with a happy smile. Surprising Hikari greatly with how much trust he has for her.
"Well the thing that this school also does is help others out whenever they're stuck." Light explained and watched the woman softly take the paper and brought it close to her. "Plus, maybe something will spark interest and help you or hopefully, inspire you to make your program working without the computers blowing up." While then grinning. "Especially, if you want this Navi-R not behaving like a mindless robot but having a personality. So maybe my idea of a free thinking Robot, might help you with the navi program being human or...least", then rubs the back of his neck sheepishly. "Allowing the Navi to have emotion and a personality."
Hikari nodded and softly giggled, finding that quite chivalrous of Light. Allowing her to look at his secret free thinking Robot project. "Well only fair I give you something personal of mine too-" she laughed, as she did the same as Light. Moving a hand down to her pocket and taking out a neatly and organized notepad. "Here, these are the specs and ideas I have in mind for the Navi's in the future- if my project ever gets funded." Then happily smiles. "Maybe it will also help you out, with your robotics research."
Light smiled and happily shook his shoulders when chuckling, accepting the notepad and opening it up. "Though not sure it will be much help, but hopefully we'll find something to help us out with our research." Light mused out as he began scanning through the notepad, while Hikari looked over Light's notes as the two scientists were completely concentrated and lost into each other's notes. That their brows and eyes would widen and raise up a bit, looking through the fine and great depths each person went through for their research. Finding certain areas where they can find some issues or problems that might cause difficulties. But overall everything they saw, or knew where to fix were very minor issues that will cause their research to come to a sudden halt.
"Her energy resources are definitely the cause for the program not responding correctly. No wonder the computers in the lab aren't compatible, there too much energy distributing through the Navi- maybe if I adjust the coding here and lessen the resource of ram usage to allow the computers to run it without any problems." Light thought it over while looking at the woman, "Mind if I?" He asked softly and unsure if she would be offended if he did some edits.
Hikari looked up from his notes and then to her notepad in his hand, "OH not at all! Mind if I do the same?" Light smiled and gave her permission as he went ahead and placed her notepad on the desk, with her doing the same with his. Both scientists work diligently with whatever needs to be fixed. "The energy resource of his is good- but without a stabilizer to contain the energy and not having it go out of control, or burning out the robot. Should allow the energy to be contained, though not for long periods of time. Maybe...if I do this and then write up a protocol like this- without interfering with the law of robotics...yeah this could work."
The two researchers were hard at working and fixing anything that were going to be problems for each side's research. Dr Light who is editing and working on Hikari's work, couldn't help but be enthralled with her research for cybernetics and online internet social interactions, that he was very impressed with how diligent the woman was. Along with how much she really is into making online social status a thing with her research that- she is hoping that her Navi-R program will be the first of its kind, to set things into motion! He couldn't help but be curious and interested in her work. He wonders if it...might be possible to allow his robotic research fuse with the woman's own research? "That might actually not be a bad idea? Having Robots be able to go too and fro from the real world and the cyberworld. In order to fix any error codes or malfunctions within the databanks of companies, that a normal human won't be able to respond quickly too- may not be a bad idea."
"Wow this is amazing!" Hikari thought to herself as she helped edit whatever it is that needed to be worked on. "I see now why he wanted me to take a look at this. Emotions and patterns to behave similar to a human is definitely something I would need. If I were to make sure the navi programs people make or have in the future, won't be mindless zombies and following commands all the time." She thought to herself while leaning back on her seat, moving the eraser part of her pencil near her mouth. Chewing lightly on the metal part of the pencil, "Let's see...other than finding a way to contain the energy, everything else seems to be working order. Minus few coding errors here and some processing power here, that will cause errors to a robot's diagnostic systems and ability to scan over issues." Hikari then went and did some changes by erasing some parts of Light's coding, placing in codes of her own along with some of her cybernetic coding.
"Actually that will be better! Having the robots be able to jack into the cyberworld and be worked on there, with deeper diagnostic readings and being physically fixing the internal issues they might have. Will make repairs go up by 120%" Hikari mused to herself.
"With a substitute robotic body for the navi to enter, without fearing of its memory core being corrupted or damaged during repairs. Will allow anyone who needs to reboot or go over the program and code of the navi's body, without interfering or messing up their memory core. Will allow anyone to repair their partners without fearing hurting them! Yes...yes that can work, that can work greatly!" Light thought to himself as they both smiled widely and pulled away from their respected research and being done with their edits.
"This project will definitely be amazing with my Robotic/Cybernetic research!" They both announced at the same time, causing both man and woman to hum and pause in their movements. Before turning towards one another, staring lightly while then both leaning forward to see what they did with each other work. Widening their eyes and pulls back, looking at their own fixes and then to each other notepads. With the two beginning to softly chuckle silently to themselves, with Hikari increasing in volume while having a big grin on her face, followed by boasting alongside Dr Light.
"Well! Seems like we not only have the same mindset but are in agreement, that both projects are very beneficial with what we're working on." Light announced amusingly towards the woman while placing his hand behind his neck, smiling bashfully at the woman. "But I...am being honest," then placed the now surprised woman, notepad down on the desk and beamed happily. "Your cybernetic research is very well thought out, along with wanting to connect everyone in the world by using this research. Is admiral of you-:, then removed his hand from his neck while pointing one finger up. "And with my robotics research, if we could find a way to make it work with your research? We will not only be able to safely repair and fix any problems a navi might have, but also protect their memory banks from being corrupted."
Hikari's eyes smiled as she knew exactly where he was coming from as she interrupted, "Will allow users not to worry about losing their navi's and partners from whatever it is they inflicted with. But," then she did the same, proudly raising her head high as well winking to the man. "This can also help out with any internal repairs that need to be made with any robots as well! Allowing mechanics and scientists, or even you. Be able to do daily check ups without the worry of messing up or having to rewire their internal systems." while then flicked her hand forward. "Not only that, but it can also allow robots to enter any computer systems that can be done faster by them, that a regular human or worker won't be able to keep up with."
"Exactly!" Smiled Light and happily leans back on the chair, "and I hope you don't mind. But I managed to find a way to make the Navi-R program costing less ram and memory out from the computers, that is needed to run it safely without having any issues." Light stated, watching the woman's eyes bulge greatly as she rapidly grabbed her notepad and went over what he edited, praying to whatever is out there watching. That he isn't pulling her leg! "Some of the process memory you installed is a bit too much for the computers right now. So, I made adjustments and edits so that Navi-R will be compatible for them currently." then winks. "But make sure to keep the advance coding there, for when your research does get funded. You'd have no problems installing the original coding alongside-" then laughed and smiled, a little surprised at first- as the woman literally threw herself from her chair and slammed right into him hugging the man!
"Bit of my coding for basic emotions for the Navi-R program to run and be installed with, whenever you're ready to use."Dr Light finished saying while feeling the woman just squealing in excitement and finally pulling back, after shooting her eyes wide open and jumping away from him. Trying her best to look professional and clearing her throat, Trying to reorient herself and calming down from her excitement. Having the man shake his head letting her know it's quite alright, "and of course. When you think you're ready for the advance human emotions let me know."
Which Hikari nodded meekly and then smiled widely, "Well then since you gave me good news, now time for my good news!" She happily announced while grabbing his notes and handing it over to him. "Like you, I found ways of being able to contain that energy source problem of yours!" She happily said, now it's Light's turn to be shocked and amazed with her skills. Watching him accepting his notes that he allowed her to do some edits and reading them over, "it took awhile to understand where you were coming from. As the coding is still irrelevant to me," she started saying while sitting down and happily crossing her arms. "But I managed to get the gist of it and reworked the language to be more simple and easier to read. Without other codes or programs that might cause errors." Hikari informed, while then watching the man smile just growing intensely and even laughed to himself by saying.
"I KNEW IT! I had a feeling there was something off with my coding," while shaking his head, impressed...no beyond impressed, he was ECSTATIC! Which had Hikari raise a brow confusingly, "all my time spent here at the academy. Nobody in my age group or peers could understand or translate these codes to being simple or easy to read!" He exclaimed, happily moving forward a bit and then back, tapping his notes with the back of his hand. "But you! You were able to decode it within thirty minutes and, having the code language, become so simple and easy to read. That there are not enough words to express how...how thrilled I am!"
Hikari chuckled sheepishly and bashfully as she blushed, "well it was hard at first. But then I figured to convert the code into my cybernetic language, that it all began to click and became easier to read. That the rest of it wrote itself," then went into a giggle fit when the man was about to hug her, but pause mid-movement and shrugged his hands asking it be alright. "I mean I hugged you out of excitement, only fair you return the favor." she laughed and allowed him to hug her and thanked the woman for making his energy storing problem, becoming a thing of the past.
He pulled away and looked at his notes, "So tell me...besides having it be easier to understand in your language. What was it that had you figuring out my energy issue?" Dr Light asked and listened intently to what the woman had to say, which was very blunt and straight to the point that...he questioned how he even missed this detail? Surprising Dr Light of how simple the solution was that it boggle his mind of why he didn't see it.
"Well like how you fixed my issue with the Navi-R program, with it costing and using up a lot of ram and processing power? I figured that could be the issue and main cause for why your energy core keeps going unstable." Then sighs,. "Sadly it is only a temporary fix. Not a permanent one." then taps a finger on the spot she is mentioning. "I only managed to find a way to keep the energy core not go unstable, within every few hours. Change it to being now every ten hours, the robot will need to rest and allow itself to go over any diagnostic problems and self-repair itself while it is recharging." then smiled. "Though I couldn't help but put a bit of my coding in as well, allowing it to enter the cyberworld without any fuss. Without the worry of shutting down or losing anything it experiences in the real world." Then sighed, "Well at least transferring it's memory onto the network that is."
Light nodded his head and chuckled, impressive either way he thought. The woman managed to help him out greatly and immensely, considering what he is going for and wanting to make in the future? He didn't think about having the Robot's memories be transferred into the cyber network or computers during repairs and diagnostics readings. Will help him ease the energy coolant and keep the power core levels down to minimum levels. "Hikari, rather it be three hours or ten hours? This is amazing help and I couldn't ask help from no one, but someone who knows coding greatly." He joked and had Hikari closing her eyes with a huge smile. "I would never think of having the robots memories be transferred to computers, during repairs…" He mused fondly while looking down at the notes.
"Same for me, with my ram and power issues with the computers." Hikari mused out herself while looking at her notepad. "Us scientists do love and tend to always think one hundred steps ahead, but not think about the present or the more blunt resources right in front of us." She said while laughing, both then hummed and turned towards the clock in the room. Seeing how it is almost nearing evening soon, the clock above the chalkboard in the front of the room- showing 5pm. "Oh wow it is getting late…" Hikari suddenly said as she went and began cleaning up. "We spent so much time helping one another, I-I guess we lost track of time and neglected our other classes."
Which Thomas Light groaned and nodded, "Y-yeah" he said with a hushed tone. "I promised Wily I would help him out with the double-gear. But got so caught up helping you and wanting to possibly make the board committee give you funding after this week's valuation happens." He said, then flinched when he heard Hikari nearly tripping over a chair, catching herself from one of the desks with a hard slap of her palms. Then whipping her attention towards the man with bug eyes. Watching the brown hair man open his eyes softly, then blink them open seeing her staring, "Some...thing wrong?"
"Wait, wait you- you…" The woman stared and tried to voice her concern before shaking her head, fighting back a blush. "Why...would you help my research get funding over yours?" She asked while raising her hand near her chest. "That...that doesn't make any sense, aren't...aren't." then couldn't fight the redness entering her face when the man stood up. Beaming brightly and happily towards her, that smile of his became contagious as she began fumbling her lips and began forming them into a small smile when he said.
"That's because someone like you who has been working hard and by yourself no doubt- with this cybernetic research! Should have the chance to be able to present their work to the board meeting and show them what an excellent scientist you are!" Chuckles the man and happily crosses his arms. "I mean this is impressive work for a single person and it should show! Why wouldn't your research get funded and move forward."
Hikari hiccupped while shaking her head and then playfully glared at him. "Light~ are you trying to make me feel good about my research, despite your robotic research being better than my cybernetics?" Then teasingly leans forward and watches the man's eyes bulged. "It feels like you want to impress me and try to win me over with your speech." She laughed and watched the man, stumbling backwards and began flailing his hands and arms earning loud laughter from Hikari.
"WHOA, WHOA, WHOA! It is- isn't like that!" Light exclaimed as he calmed down slightly while feeling a sweat drop forming on the side of his head. "I-I honestly believe your cybernetic research will be more beneficial than my robotic research." Then chuckle nervously while wiping his forehead with the back of his sleeve. "It seems more time efficient and easier to handle, than having to force robots into unwilling labor from their own choices and such." then hums and looks towards the floor, unaware the big smile on Hikari's face right now along with the blush. As she began silently moving forward to the man, "actually now thinking about it? It probably will be a problem for Navi's too- hmm...well at least with the juvenile tasks that is." He joked while laughing. "Don't want everyone to be lazy-" then flinched and stood stark still, when he felt Hikari wrapping her arms around his shoulders and just lean her head softly into his shoulder, eyes closed and smiling brightly. Having Light to stare ahead for a while trying to comprehend what got into her, before shifting his brown eyes down at the woman. "Hikari?"
The woman sighed and snorted softly, "Thank you Dr Light...you're the first person to ever show me encouragement and kindness. I had so many people telling me that this school is not for me, or telling me how someone like me has no business here. Where Cybernetics has no means or connections with robots or the future." Hikari said and held onto the man, feeling their weights being in a more comfortable poster after Light, managed to get a firm stance now. Silently listening to the woman and hum softly. "It's been quite hard for the past six months here, but seeing someone like you- despite his profession being different from mine. Showing so much support...it makes me feel happy to know, there is still kindness in this world we live in."
Light sighed and nodded, she wasn't wrong. Especially when you're a researcher in this academy, you're always looking out for yourself and wanting to make your own project. Too stand out from the rest of the students and fellow researchers- you don't have friends to work with or people who might not have the same interest. He only got lucky when he paired up with Wily...but Hikari? Six months working on her cybernetics all by herself with no one to assist her. It's wrong on so many levels, which makes more sense why most projects here don't get funded or finish in time. That is when a lightbulb clicked in his head and pulled Hikari softly from him, having the woman to laugh slightly ready to apologize but froze when she rocked her head and looked at Light, only then to see him stare down at their notes.
"Dr Light?" Hikari asked and then stepped back and watched the man grab both their notes and hummed, shifting his brown eyes left to right and then began smiling widely. Having the woman tilt her head curiously wondering why he is smiling and then felt her entire world light up when he turned to her. Watching him raise both notes up into the air and had quite the wide and silly grinned that, she felt sudden vertigo when he announced.
"I think I have the best idea and that is why not we work together?" Light suddenly said with a smile. Watching the woman literally catching herself from the edge of the table, then felt him quickly moving forward and grabbing her in case she did faint. "I don't see why I shouldn't, I think both our projects will definitely benefit greatly from one another. Robotics and Cybernetics working side-by-side. Navi, People and robots will have quite a fun and enjoyable time, along with being able to interact and send messages to one another. Allowing people seeing others without worrying about money or expenses for travel money and whatnot. While those who are into their own robotic research or navi research, will be able to take cues and ideas from one another…" Then spread his arms. "It will be glorious to see! So why not Hikari, would-" then smiled brightly extending his hand out.
Watching the woman stare at it and looking to be swelling up in tears from probable excitement, unable to believe the generous offer Light is giving her while also wanting his and her research project becoming one in the same. "Would you like to work together and make both our dreams come true and make a world, where Robots, Navi and Humans will be able to co-exist with one another and live in a world, where no one will out rank the other?" Smiled Dr Light as he watched the woman shake in her spot, looking to be going over her thoughts and began fumbling and sucking in her lower lip- just bubbling up a tear smile and then just lunged at Light in a tight bear hug!
"YES! YES! YES! I would love that, I would love that very much, thank you, thank you, thank you!" Shouted the woman as she hugged him so tight in a bear hug and went into a sobbing giggling laughter- feeling the man hugging her back and laughing. Rubbing her back and caressing her back, in order to help her calm down and get her emotions in order. Then laughing when she calmed down and leaned back with a worry look. "But what about Dr Wily? Weren't you two working on robotics together, wouldn't he be upset about you suddenly shifting gears and helping me out?"
"No worries," Light assured her and stepped back from her and beamed. "Right now he is focusing on working on his double-gear system." Then shift his eyes sideways. "Which is dangerous for robots, but once he has gotten further into the research and has it working confidently. I will be there to help him out and make adjustments." He informed, while then nodding his head. "He is good at what he does, but sometimes it always seems to be taxing the processing unit and guidance system on robots." Light then grabbed his chin humming. "Though...he might get upset but I have no doubt that this will benefit everyone." While then tapping her research notepad. "Your energy solution and programming skills gave me good ideas on how to lower the heating system on the double-gear. But since I don't have the blueprints for said Double-gear, I can't work on the deeper mechanics." Then face the woman. "But no doubt it can be possible with lowering the overheat and pushing the robots processing and energy cores from being burnt out. I just need more time to figure out a solution."
This is when Hikari caught on and smiled brightly, "AH I see~" Then giggled, "since I know how to lower the heating process and how much discharge energy costs for programs and coding sequence. This will benefit Wily's research and double-gear system without it taxing on the robots and having them shut down, from exerting all their power and energy!" Then snickered. "I must say Dr Light, for someone who is in robotics...you are sure tactical and quite adapting when it comes to helping others." Hikari then claps her hand. "Well then, shall we get started then- anything you need help with?"
Which Light blushed embarrassingly while rubbing the back of his head. "Err...how are you about doing labor and lifting heavy objects?" He asked which had Hikari humming, rolling her eyes upwards then towards the side, moving her head towards her right shoulder. Pointing with her head at the many destroyed computers and hard drives in the corner of the room, before looking back at the man who then let out a, "Ah- good point." then both burst into laughter and began heading out of the room as they both went to work on figuring out, making both robotics and cybernetics research can coexist with each other and being beneficial for both sides! Unaware their teamwork and collaboration is going to have a major effect in the future.

Thus the two got to work with their future projects. Thomas Light after leaving and figuring out where he will be moving his things and transferring himself towards Hikari's classes. Began packing his things up and leaving the research room he and Wily are stationed at. Leaving a very confused Albert, of what was going on and asking Light if everything was alright? Only to sneer lightly when the brown hair man informed him how, he will be moving his half of the room to where Hikari is stationed. Explaining how she was able to help him out and solving his energy crisis with his robotics, along with he himself figuring out how to help her out with her Navi program.
Wily tried to argue about Thomas wasting his time and wondered, why would he help her out? When he promised to help him out with the double-gear system and making the first free thinking robot? Only to feel slightly betrayed when the man responded "I do intend on helping you still Wily, but until you get further with your research on the Double-gear. I won't be much help if I am focusing on my research by myself. But, I will definitely drop everything I am doing to help you!"
Of course Wily took offence on it but made sure to hold Light on his word. Explaining how the woman will just be a waste of time and shouting how, no cybernetic research is going to outperform what he and Light have planned for the future! Having Light unaware of what he has done after leaving the room and letting Wily work on his device by himself. As he and Hikari successfully got settled in the classroom together and began working on their research!
The first week of their teamwork and helping each other out, started out not so good. First day they needed to understand each other's workflow and adjust to how each one time schedule worked. Even though the time schedule wasn't much of a big deal, considering both tend to work through the night and sleep mostly early mornings. However, Light found a time schedule to work with that allows him to take advantage of a full day's work, even if he does tend to work late at night. But with Hikari, it was a bit difficult to work with the woman at first- but also finding it interesting and quite enjoyable.
Seems like from what Light had noticed with the woman, she tends to take a lot of different naps at certain time periods in the day. Where one minute she was up and raring to go and got to work, then thirty minutes later after returning with some food. Light will find Hikari face first on her desk and sleep the day away, with papers and notes sliding and falling from the desks she is using. It takes awhile for Light to wake the woman up from her slumber, leaving him to some of the work by himself- but making sure to be silent and not rudely waking her up when doing so.
Course when the woman does wake up, Thomas would be the next to fall asleep from his work ethics and leave the woman to her own devices. Having the woman to stare confusingly at him and then look over at the clock of the room. Feeling embarrassed for falling asleep for so long, while caringly smiling at the man for allowing her to get her rest. It was very rough for the two to adjust and get used to one another's habits and sleep schedules. Which once the week had passed by, and the two scientist researchers were finally able to adjust to each other's schedule and sleep schedule. They were able to finally get to working on helping one another out!
The first weekend of the month had the two working on Light's free thinking robot experiment. Going over the blueprints and designs Light and Wily had made, with Hikari looking them over and making any adjustments that were needed as Light began constructing the body. Sparks and machinery tools could be heard behind Hikari, who is typing and working diligently on the computer- adjusting and making correctness to any computer and programming error the previous code had within them. That had Hikari humming to herself after finding the ones where Wily had helped- "Hey, Hey Thomas?" Hikari called out to the man, who hummed and lifted his head from one of the parts for the robot and turned to her.
Hikari then points at the screen where the code was, "how come Wily implemented these types of codes?" She asked while then turning back to the screen. "The way he wrote it out and had type in this fashion, would have made some of the robots in the future becoming disobedient." Which she knows isn't something Light wants, on the account free thinking and such. "Well more of disobeying the thought process and ignoring the creator's wishes and such."
"Hmm?" This definitely caught Light's attention as he lifted the safety goggles and looked over Hikari's shoulder and leaned forward. "That is the coding for the guidance system." He murmured and read through it carefully, finding where the language of the code contradicting itself and the commands being issued, would have the robot completely questioning and pondering over the creators intentions and purpose. One he would have missed entirely if he didn't have a third opinion, "that explains a whole lot and why it is, I tend to find errors when making the guidance code." He mused out while standing up straight. "This right here, the third line of code- will cause a lot of problems in the future."
"No worries, I already figured out how to edit it without erasing the original intent." Hikari laughed as she went ahead and erased the code Wily placed, and replaced it with one that will work and not cause major problems in the future. "There we go, now when the robot activates and we begin testing phases and such. It won't run rampant and possibly cause any real harm to anyone in case a glitch happens." She smiled, "especially on the morality aspect of its process core- this way,it will understand and teach itself the rights and wrongs when taking certain actions."
Hikari laughed when she saw Light smiling and nodding at the edited and fixed coding, "That's amazing! You figured this out just by looking…" then steps away from the chair she's sitting on. Crossing his arm with high praise in his expression, "take it this is from your navi R coding?" He asked and laughed when her eyes smiled and nodded her head. "Ah-" then couldn't help but smile, "when the time comes we should see if we can implement my robotic coding to your navi code. See if it will work out!" he joked and went back to the robot parts he's working on, having the woman laugh loudly and began typing away again on the computer only to pause when she heard Light not working on the robot part and tilt her head ajar about to ask what is wrong.
Only to then widen her eyes and felt excitement building up when he suddenly said, "Actually! That is not a bad idea, we should definitely give both projects a try and form it into one in the future!" He praised at her, only to then hear warning signs echoing out from the robotic part he is working on and then began freaking out, when the robot arm began flopping and bouncing about with electricity bursting out from it and began letting out puff of smoke and started erupting in small flames, "NO-no, no, no!"
Hikari then flinched when she heard a small explosion followed by dark smoke, coming from behind her. The woman spun her chair around and began fanning the smoke, coughing lightly as she called out to Light, only to burst into laughter with how frizzy his hair looked followed by his face covered in soot- yet his eyes were fine, as he removed the protective eye gear up against his forehead and then faces towards Hikari. Coughing a bit and even having smoke coming out from his mouth, then began laughing, "Well...live and learn they say!" And both began boasting in laughter, with Hikari offering that she will find some towels to use for cleaning up.

Things were slowly beginning to move forward as well some hiccups here and there. That the duo were always seen walking and talking with each other or spending time with one another. That, every researcher and fellow scientists were wondering if the two were together- or some starting to spread some rumors around about how close Hikari and Light were lately. That the rumors were reaching even to Wily's ears, as the fellow colleague of Dr Light- who hasn't had it easy lately with his double-gear system. Beginning to think his friend has forgotten him or completely ignoring him, just to be with that woman…
It wasn't easy for Wily, ever since his friend left the room and migrated into the Computer science lab, where Hikari is working on her cybernetic research. Had Wily believing the woman had stolen his friend from him and took him away, while having or migrating his friend into focusing on her cyber research over robotic research. That his jealousy and anger kept him blinded and somewhat unfocused with what he is doing, his project was and is having trouble getting a jump start- that it kept erupting or exploding whenever the man tries working on it. Wily out of frustration from unable to get it working or moving forward, forced himself to believe it is Light and that woman's fault for why he is having so much trouble with his device. Believing that Dr Light is purposely doing this to him, believing it's his way of not wanting to help with his Double-gear system, getting back at him for making fun of that woman's cybernetics research!
It sickens him even more whenever he walks out in the halls, heading to the lunch room or just getting fresh air. He would see them, he would see the duo just interacting and talking to one another as if nothing in the world will bother them! Handing and writing down notes to each other, laughing and smiling at each other as if they were the closest of friends! They have only known each other for a week and a-half, yet here they are. Literally behaving as if they were friends their entire life! Wily huffed whenever he sees them and feels like having an ulcer whenever he spots them in the lunchroom or halls of the academy. Stomping and storming his way back to his class, shoving fellow scientists out of his path from anger and jealousy.
Continuing and working on his Double-gear system some more, making sure that it will be finished before anything that Hikari and Light will come up with. Doubling down on the device and ignoring anything that has to do with Light or Hikari, or the school itself. Making a promise to himself that he will out do anything anyone can do- making sure that his device. His master-piece will be funded before anyone else's and will have the future of robots. Being able to outperform anything and everything that a regular human cannot achieve on their own!
He will show them, show them all just what he is capable of! And will be better than anything that Light or Hikari will ever come up with, he just needs to get done with the project before the board committee happens. Unaware that Hikari and Dr Light, were also reaching their conclusion with their own research and at a rapid pace since the two were diligently helping each other out with their projects without butting heads too often.
When they do butt heads and get into a slight disagreement with one another. The two would tell each other that they should probably take small breaks and come back to working on their projects at a later date. Even if they only have a couple weeks left before the committee comes and decides on which research and project they will fund. However something that Light and Hikari unknowingly would have happened or make an excuse to becoming closer to one another. Will suddenly offer the other party if they would like to spend some time outside of the building and just hang out, spend some quality time together and not be so engrossed with their projects.
While the two unbeknownst had begun growing a relationship to another that whenever they come back after a beautiful evening or afternoon, they would suddenly have many ideas and ways of fixing and correcting any errors they may have had earlier that day. And get right to work on fixing them up and making sure things won't be exploding or going haywire on them when they get back to work. Not only that but also getting past any moments during their projects that they had come to a sudden halt, all the while breaking down the walls that prevented them from progressing!
Even managing to finalizing the Navi R program completely for Hikari, while having a working early prototype robot for Dr Light, with very early and basic free thinking and problem solving- that the two of them couldn't help but be so delighted and excited to seeing they successfully finished with their works, that Hikari out of excitement and joy- glomp right onto Dr Light and kissed the man on the lips! Shocking him to his core along with Hikari as well, with her quickly pulling away from him and having quite a red looking face, as well with Light. To which then the two separated from one another, bashfully rubbing their forearm and the side of their face cheeks.
That the early build Navi within the computer- who hasn't been programmed with a voice yet. Types some words on the computer monitor suggesting that the two of them should in their opinion celebrate their success and recommended that they finish up for the night. Alerting the two of the sudden suggestions, then stared at one another and then looked away once more. Though began smiling softly with Light clearing his throat, "Not a bad idea really...we worked very hard the past three weeks. Things are exploding on us, going haywire and causing few blackouts."
Hikari nodded while meekly replying, "don't forget also causing major shutdowns, catastrophic memory loss with some of the computers and…" then turned her attention towards the corner of the room. Which had Light, the early robot prototype and the navi- which said Navi, connected itself to a spare computer and faced the corner like everyone else. Seeing the pile of scrap metal and destroyed computer hardware's lying about. "Melting hard drives…" Hikari meekly said and laughed softly with the man who nodded in agreement. "But...going out and celebrating sounds like a wonderful idea!" She added at the end and blushed, "if...of course you don't mind?"
Light turned towards her and smiled, he then raised up a hand and offered it to her. "It will be my pleasure really, but first thing first. I should check up on Wily." He stated, having the woman nodding her head. "I may have not been able to help him over the past three weeks, but I have managed to sneak into our old office and check up on him. See how he is doing and silently fixing any errors he may have trouble with." He said, as the two began heading over to the robot and computer- letting the navi and robot know they will be shutting down for the night.
Making copies and back ups for their finished work, so this way. When they come back and show them off to the board committee? They won't have to worry about losing any progress they have recently made or worrying about data and cores getting corrupted. Once that is done, the two will then head towards the door and turn the lights off. Smiling fondly at the progress they made and stared into the room one last time, before closing the door and heading out. Locking the door tightly when they left, so no one would mess with their very early beta prototypes and began making their way down the slightly dim-lit halls.
"You really care for Wily don't you." Hikari asked while smiling at the man, walking alongside him down the halls. "I don't blame ya, he was the first friend you made here right? Must be nice having friends here." She then sighed and chuckled softly, "it was rough for me to make friends. On the account a woman like me who is interested in cyberspace and internet greetings and such. Doesn't really stand a chance at a robotic research academy." Hikari bashfully rubs the back of her neck, looking towards Light. "But considering the tuition is good and the support they offer. I couldn't turn down the offer."
"Really?" Light asked with a surprise fake expression. Messing with the woman for a bit and laughed, when she gently punched his shoulder. "I hear ya though, I too would've been worried if a place like this. Wouldn't accept ideas and offers like what you're offering, or even like the idea of free thinking robots to be made." He said and turned a corner where the hall will take them to his old research lab, he left behind when moving into the lab where Hikari resides. "But here we are!" he exclaimed happily, "A robotic researcher and a cybernetic researcher, working hand to hand helping one another out. Despite some disputes and arguments being made here and there, we found a common place with one another and became quite close friends in only three weeks!"
Hikari giggled and nodded to Light's excitement, she herself was surprised how much the two of them clicked and how almost similar their robotic and cybernetic projects were to one another. It will be weird for them not to be working together and finding a way for both projects to co-exist. The woman lifted her head and spotted the door that will lead them into Light's and Wily's research lab, "Same, and glad we did get close over the month." She said with a soft blush and came to a stop next to the door. "I felt very alone here and...well if it weren't for you and Wily, being concerned for my safety after one of the computer's exploded. We'd never met." She joked and had Light laughing, as he dug into his lab pocket and fished out his spare key for the lab.
"Heh could say its fate," Light joked and unlocked the door. Opening it up and allowing entry to the old lab he and Wily shared. "Anyway, it won't take too long. I just need…" his voice fell silent and eyes widened at the sight within the room. Frozen in place and appalled of what he is witnessing inside the room...besides the usual desks filled and clattering with papers, blueprints and other materials litter across both desks. But what appalled him the most and alarmed him greatly, are the newly added burnt out and overworking looking robots in the back of the room! All looked to have had their cores melted and destroyed them from the inside out, wires and exposed circuitry were hanging out of damaged parts and open holes on their bodies. That when Hikari, who got worried of Light's sudden silence, managed to squeeze herself into the room and gasped at the horrific scene in front of her.
Oil looked to have splatted and tainted the back of the lab's walls, smudges on lab equipment and even on the desks. More notably Light's old desk seems to be covered in oil and circuitry, too even decimated working robot parts and spare bodies, everything looked like from a horror sci-fi movie, "...what has he done?" Hikari whispered out. "This...this is horrible, what kind of man does this to robots?!" Hikari walks over to Light's desk and begins cleaning it and removing any spare parts carefully, into the wastebasket. "What kind of research is Wily working on...is this that double-gear you were talking about?" She asked while whipping her attention at Light. Watching the horrified expression on his face and then watching said expression, turning into seriousness as he walked from the doorway and made his way over towards his colleague's desk.
Swiping and cleaning the mess off Wily's desk and having them fall onto the floor. Organizing and flipping through multiple folders at a rapid pace, looking for that one specific folder that contains the information and details, of the Double-gear system. Light found what he was looking for and went over the schematics; searching through what it is that will be causing these damages to the robots, his colleague and friend was working on. "This is the first time I ever look through this, much I do want to help him and fix things. He and I have a level of respect for not looking at each other's personal work." Informed Light. "Minus the beta prototypes we've worked on, so this is my first time seeing the real schematics." He continued and scan through everything that is being made.
Hikari nodded and silently respected the two decisions- but began getting worried when Light went silently after picking up that folder. Having the woman who managed to clean up and separating the damaged parts from the salvageable ones, lifting herself up right and facing the man. Wondering what is the matter and watched his face contort and squint in disgust of what his friend is making with the double gear. "Something wrong, Light?" Hikari asked while approaching him, adjusting her lab coat and stood next to him- then leaned over to stare at the blueprints of the double-gear system. Doing her best to skim through what was written on the blueprint, finding a whole lot of mistakes and things that can really damage the robots insides and mechanical parts.
"Well...besides how much strain and output energy is going through the robot's energy." Light mused out but rubbed his chin, honestly it is impressive of what Wily has created and made. Knowing that when they first met and such, he dreams of having robots becoming somewhat like heroes for the human race, without needing to worry about being limited in their commands and orders. But the drawback of the device can also cause problems and make simple situations, become huge problems and the outcome behind said simple actions- may do more harm than good. Not only with damaging the robot, but might accidentally hurt humans as well. "It is...a really good device, but the drawbacks however are the concerning part and if Wily insists on getting funded with this? I...hate to see what will happen if it goes through."
Hikari nodded as she silently took the blueprints and scanned it over once more. "Well, maybe if we get permission from him? We could make some changes and edit things around where it won't be a problem." She said while lifting her head up at Light. "So far it seems like he has made it that future developments will allow certain robots, activate the Power gear and Speed gears- doubling their processing power and mobility."
Light sighed inwardly while rubbing the back of his neck and accepted the paper when Hikari gave it back. "That's what concerns me...if he goes through it, and without really thinking it through. The other function of the gear won't be disabled and if a robot calculates a wrong judgement, might accidentally activate the power gear, where it is not needed. Or the speed gear also not being needed, causing possible destruction and chaos within our community." He stated and then turned his head towards the calendar on the wall. Biting his lower lip slightly as he saw the date; they wouldn't have time to be able to find Wily, ask him if he needed some help and change things around. As the board meeting is happening within two days from now, on a Sunday no less- "Not only that but Wily, whenever he is done or gets stuck with something. Takes a day off every Friday and Saturday- to recharge and get his mind back together."
Hikari nodded while rubbing the back of her neck. "I don't blame him- everyone usually takes days off during the weekend." Then looks down at the floor. They're really in a bind here, if they can't reach Wily and he goes presenting his project to the board? It could spell disaster unless someone steps in and prevents the research from being funded...or at least, give the board and Wily more time to think it over. "What...are you going to do?" She asked Light, who shifted his eyes towards her and then back at the folder. Inhaling softly and then exhaled, having come up with a decision...one that might be drastic but hopefully, he can recover it in time for his offer to help Wily.
"I hate to say but...I might have to stop Wily from presenting the board of the Double-gear system. At least allowing me to have some time to speak with Wily and ask him to let me help him with the device, before the board comes to a final decision on the matter." Mused Thomas Light, while then opening his palm. "Hopefully, he will hear me out." He then went and placed the folder back onto the desk and let out a soft groan. "For now let's hope we can find him during the weekend and see if we can help him out."
"Good idea," Hikari agreed while placing a hand on his shoulder and rubbing it. "Come on, let's go and find a diner! I am starving and I'm in a hankering mood for some pizza and fries!" Giggled the woman, earning a boastful laughter as he walked alongside her and began heading out of the room. Unaware of how things are about to go at the board meeting.

Sunday, the Board meeting interview.
The next two days Hikari and Light did everything they could to figure out where they could find Dr Wily. Unable to have any success as they were laser focused on finding the man, talk to him about the double-gear system and possibly ask him if they needed his help. To make sure the device wouldn't cause any problems in the future! But were having no luck at all, let alone they needed to make sure they finalized their joint project as well, which would take even more of their time spent searching for Wily.
Their cybernetic/robotic research was flourishing and coming along greatly as their beta navi and robot were still functioning and able to take and receive commands and orders without much problems or glitches. Even acting independent of their own actions, when Light and Hikari wanted to test and see if they are able to move about within their limitations and room. The navi inside the made-shift cyberspace created by Hikari, was able to transport and move about through the multiple computers and networks within the lab of theirs. While the robot Light made, is easily walking and maneuvering in the room- making sure to be careful with the desks and chairs that might get in its way. Walking around them and even picking up and placing down chairs it approaches, in order to get by and head towards one of the computers the navi appears in.
Showing amazing progress and seeing how things were in working order? The duo were in a perfect place to offer and show their work to the board. As their joint project is ready to take the next stage, that Light and Hikari couldn't help but smile and cheer towards one another for their success- to even Hikari excitingly kissing Dr Light quickly on the lips and then rushed her way out of the room, leaving a shocked and frozen man in place. Face burning up and turning red from the sudden kiss for the second time it happened, trying to rationalize what happened that his silence. Got the navi and robot worry for the man and even asked if he was alright. Snapping him out from his stupor and then quickly cleared his throat. Laughing bashfully at the two and told them that he is alright and headed on out of the room, to go and find Hikari and figure out where she went.
The two tried one last time to find Wily when Saturday came and still no luck of finding the man, and when they tried to head back to his lab room? It would be locked and blinding's that weren't there before, were now hanging in front of the door window. Preventing anyone from looking into the room and seeing what Wily is working on, but also making sure to lock the door and even change the locks! Surprising Light greatly of how his friend is even preventing him from entering into the room. Raising a lot of red flags and becoming worried that his colleague is shutting him out.
And now that is Sunday, it was time for everyone to offer and show off their projects to the board council of the academy arts. Surprisingly, Hikari and Light were the first to show off what they have in store- being told how everyone in the school had recommended their projects to be shown first, as well getting lots of the scientists in the academy. Give their approval of their hard work and hoping that whatever they were doing and researching, would be funded and advance the future with their greatest inventions.
The duo were nervous but had each other's backs and proudly went ahead and walked towards the board room, to offer and show what it is they have to offer. Going into great details and lengths of exactly what it is, they want to contribute to society. With Light presenting his half with the robotics, to then Hikari showing her half with Cybernetics. Then both showing off what it is they hope to do, by also offering up that they also want to combine both robotics and cybernetics together and into one- where not only will it be easier to do tasks and repairs to the robots. But also allowing said robots and navis, do solving problems and correcting any errors within the cyberspace that a normal person- won't be able to fix or understand if a virus or an error appears.
All the while making navigation, interactions and calling to relatives, friends and loved ones can be as simple as sending emails and letters with their own personalized navis. With a robot, being constructed and made to help out with constructing work, demolition work, guard duty and all of the above. Too even helping out those who have special needs, disabilities or even war veterans With their everyday life that would be problematic While even demonstrating how robots and navis are and will be able to interact with one another, too even being able to go and make customizable parts for Navi's to enter and take control of. While robots will be able to go and transfer themselves into the cyberworld, allowing both sides to experience both sides of the world. All the while keeping their memory storage in tack, in case someone needs to do repairs or update a processing unit between both navis and robots.
The presentation was going smoothly and looking to be winning over a lot of favors within the board meeting. That Hikari and Light, couldn't help but feel proud of what they accomplished...Light though still had a concerned expression, when he turned towards the clock and began wondering where in the world Wily was? Hoping the man wouldn't be missing this important day...granted, he would not like to be the one telling the board committee about how dangerous his research was. But if he can hold onto even three minutes and offer his assistance to Wily, before they shoot down the idea of the double-gear? Just maybe he can keep their friendship in tack.
Hikari also looked and even became jittery at how Wily hasn't shown. Getting really worried for Light's friend, as she too wants to help out and make sure that the two men's friendship wouldn't be ruined. Ready to comfort Light by placing her hand over his, only for the two to suddenly turn towards the directors who were done whispering to each other. With the main one in the middle of the U-shape desk, with reading glasses with a brown mustache. Stood up and smiled towards the two, "I think we have a unanimous decision and votes, Dr Light, Dr Hikari- we are deeply impressed with what the two of you had shown us today in this room." He then smiled and moved an open hand forward. "Along with the fact proving this school how anyone and anybody within this academy. Can come together and work with each other, and even combine both projects into one. I think we all can agree on this and say that out of everyone in this academy. That the two of you showed the most dedication and efforts to making what would have normally been an impossible feat. Be a reality- thus we hereby."
Though he didn't finish his sentence as the doors slammed open all of the sudden. Alerting everyone towards the doors direction, spotting what looked to be a panting and heavy breathing Albert Wily! "Wait- wait, before you all make your decision and choose them. I have my proposal ready and be judged!" Shouted the man, who stood up and began shaking himself out the jitters and nervousness, to even then grabbing the edges of his lab coat to tidy it up and look more professional.
"Wily!" Light exclaimed with a relieved smile, "where were you? Had me worried greatly, as I have been trying to find you and-" Light then got interrupted when Wily glared at him and pointed an accusing finger at him. Surprising Light greatly at the sudden action and watched the glare turn harsher towards him.
"Can it Light, I don't want to hear any excuses from you right now." Wily then moved his stretched hand down to his pockets. "Besides- I need to show what I've been working on and offer it to the committee, if that's alright with the board." Wily said the last part towards the group. While the people inside look at one another and shrugs with some chuckles and laughter, they're not going to dismiss Wily after making an entrance like that. As well, the man is the only person who is also offering their work to them. Being notified ahead of time from every other researcher, about showing their works at another time- wanting to perfect them and having them in working order. Even being encouraged by Hikari and Light of their dedication to making sure every bug was worked out and fixed, they too- wanted to do the same and figured to wait another year to present their work.
"Sure thing Wily, we heard talk about your research as well you calling it…" The man who was still standing spoke towards the man, pausing as he thought through what Wily called it, "the double-gear system?" The man asked, having Light and Hikari grimace as images of those destroyed robots came rushing through their heads. Recalling how dangerous the system will be for them, along with the many drawbacks this device will have to the population if poor solving problems from robots, who only specializes in one function could cause.
"Yes that is correct." Wily proudly said and began going over exactly what it is his Double-gear system can do, what it can provide and even perform amazing feats if robot's were to be installed with his gear system. They will be performing at their maximum capacity and enhancing their performances tens fold, that a regular robot wouldn't be able to do. Getting jobs done a lot quicker, solving problems that would normally take hours to do, to even making work ethics less time than what would normally take. "If we go with this idea of mine and fund this double-gear system and have it installed to all the robots. Not only will it make everyday labor and life easier for both sides. Put less strain and stress on the robot's circuits, without them needing to be constantly sent for repairs or needing new codes and orders to program into their system." Then raised his arm lightly into the air. "That even everyday normal robots of the world, can do even the most amazing feats in the world! All the while also becoming heroes to human society, with this double-gear system. It will be possible-"
Light clench his eyes tightly and frustrated balled his hands into fists. Unable to take it anymore, let alone the idea of those burned robot husks being tossed and trashed in society once they burn out and lose their circuitry from said double-gear! Let alone, he doesn't want everyone blaming and pointing fingers at Wily. Making him become somewhat an unwanted criminal and villain to the world, where he would have to shoulder the burden and be ridiculed by everyone- he had to save him, he must protect his friend from the discrimination... even if it means he has to go against his wishes.
"I can't abide that!" Light suddenly raised his voice alerting everyone to him. Even Hikari looked towards him and saw how looking at his eyes, the man was conflicted about what he is about to do and even looking to be hurting. "The Double-gear much as it sounds promising and worthwhile...is far too dangerous!" He suddenly exclaimed watching Wily glare at him. "People on the board I saw what that thing could possibly do, no- CAN do to robots." He informed them while closing his eyes tightly. Then raised his hand up and swung it behind him, "it burns out the robots from the inside out, melting through their exteriors from the gear that gets placed inside of them." He said while Wily, looked appalled at how Light went into his laboratory without his permission and snooped around his place!
"Not only that but with how it is designed and made could easily cause more problems than good. A normal situation that can be called for, can turn into disaster without the proper guidance or instructions. That the robot's might rely on the double-gear in order to solve the problems and solutions to easy to take care of chores." Then lowered his head a bit, while tightly pressing his fingers into his palm. "The power gear and speed gear...I believe and what I saw from the lab, isn't something that should be funded just yet."
"What are you saying!?" Wily growled out and raised the device. "With my double-gear system, it will make life that much easier! We can make even the simple robots become heroes!" Argued Wily and pointed a finger at Light. "What gives you authority to what can be made or not Dr Light, you're just acting like this and not seeing the big picture like I do!" Exclaimed Wily and thrust his arm towards the door. "You're just being paranoid all because of a few failed tests that happened."
"It's exactly the reason why it shouldn't be developed!" Light argued back but with a caring tone behind his voice. "It's too dangerous at the stage it is in now, however-" then smiled and raised a hand, watching Wily raise a confused brow. "With more time and effort into it we-" though he couldn't finish his statement and calm his friend down in time. Ready to tell him how they can make it still work and be fruitful, it just needed more people on the project and make it happen, as he was about ready to say he and Hikari will gladly help him out only for the board committee to make their announcement.
"We're in agreement to Light's reasoning." Came one of the professors, causing everyone there to turn their attention towards them. Watching a slight stout and stubby man folding his hands onto the table. "He's right and looking over the blueprints here, there are too many variables to consider- and with how simple most programming are for Robot's nowadays? They might misuse the device for very simple and easy to follow commands. Where someone can easily do it themselves and solve it with the right thinking, however." then sighed, closing his eyes and adjusting his glasses. "For robots who have this installed might use either Power or Speed gears in the wrong tense of their objectives and most definitely cause problems to society."
"But-" Wily tried to argue and watched a female professor nodding her head in agreement and began painting a picture for how bad it could be.
"I too am in agreement, picture a police robot chasing down a criminal and needing to disarm them or subdue them?" She began saying while combing one hand through her silver hair, then placed her chin on top of her hands and rested her elbows on the table. "The speed gear will probably have the robots overshoot their targets and accidentally crash or run into side of buildings, shopping buildings or even regular residential buildings. While for the Power gear, they could easily injure and harm the criminal their chasing- making trusts to the justice system be skewered even more, with people not feeling safe at the idea of robot officials misusing the Power gear to subdue criminals or even bystanders."
The woman then looked over at her fellow colleagues and sat upright. "So yes...I don't think we should move things forward with the double gear system and...shut down the project." The woman stated, as Wily stared in disbelief of what he is hearing from the board. All because of Light and Hikari! No doubt they went and told them how horrible his invention was before he even got here. Told them lies and deceived them about how bad his project was.
"All in favor then for the cybernetic research and free thinking robot research from Light and Hikari?" The main man said from the middle of the desk. Wily watched as everyone were murmuring to themselves and across from one another and began nodding. With one of them raising their hand up, in favor of funding Light and Hikari's research. Making Wily grit his teeth and baring his fangs at what's happening in front of him. Then saw another hand go up for their research, that had the man whipping his attention towards Light. Who looked back at him and grimaced at the glare he was sending him. Ready to tell him and apologize how this isn't what he wanted, but considering how the man seems to be sending daggers at him and not wanting to hear a word from him. All heard the decision being made and finalized with the votes.
"Then it is unanimous, we will move forward with both Light's and Hikari's research. Of bother Cybernetic and Robotics working in tandem with one another. From here on out, the evolution of the future has been set and the world will be ready to see what you have Hikari and Dr Light! Congratulations!" Came the head leader of the board committee, along with the others clapping and congratulating the man and woman who were speechless of what just happened and quite amazed that their project will be funded and be what will make technology evolve in the future!
However, out of jealousy and anger- rage and hate for his colleague Dr Wily. Tighten his grip on the Double-gear in his hands, gritting and grinding his teeth heavily while breathing in and out harshly to then throwing the device right into the ground! Shattering it and breaking it into splinters, that alerted Light as he spun around to face his friend and watched him turn his back on him. "I swear...from this day forward and sometime in the future Dr Light, Dr Hikari- you both will rue the day that you ever crossed me!" Shouted Wily as Light tried to reach out for his friend and let him know this isn't what he wanted.
"Shut the hell up Light!" Yelled Wily who's at the door looking at his new nemesis and rival! "Nothing you say will change my mind, now knowing what you truly are and backstabbed me! You and that woman will one day regret ever making me mad, mark my words- you haven't seen the last of me!" He shouted and slammed the door hard and fast, causing quite a loud echoing bang and even having the desks shaking from the sudden impact the door made.
Light flinched and felt his posture lowering from concern for Wily, lowering his outstretched arm to his side, hanging his mouth open slightly from sadness and worry for his best friend. He looked down to where the double-gear system that shattered on the floor, Light went ahead and picked up the device from the floor. Being very careful and mindful with whatever is left of the broken device- clutching it in his hand and raising his head to face where Light had left and ran off.
Then felt Hikari approaching next to him and rested a hand on his shoulder. Giving him her assurance that everything will work out and that Wily will come back and the two of them can be friends again. "Come on, seeing how long you two have been working with each other. I'm sure Wily deep down knew you were looking out for him, wanting to add his Double-gear system in our research." She said and gently rested her forehead against his shoulder.
While smiling softly when he returned the gesture and rested a hand on hers. "Yeah…:" then pulled away and smiled at her. "Come miss Hikari, I believed I promised you a fancy lunch today in case our research gets funded." Chuckled the man and laughed some more, when she stared blankly at him and cutely tilted her head confusingly of what he meant. "Ha, ha ha- come on let's go and celebrate is what I mean Hikari. After all," then gently held her hands with his and smiled. "We're going to be quite busy working together in the future!" He explained and watched the woman's face go from confused, to then blushing brightly with a big smile on her face and nodded!
What kind of future waits for the world as evolution of technology has begun and life will be changing for the best...or for the worst! As the evolution and fusion of cybernetics and robots becoming one is in development, with easier access to the internet and interfaces with robot productions will be a thing in the future! As the two are unaware of what kind of shadows will be waiting and looming in their future, as one man jealousy and anger- will make sure that they will pay!
To be continued...
