RWBY – The Adorkable Knight

Not that much has changed in this rewrite for the original chapter, barring the curtains that were previously in the dorm room being removed as people didn't like the idea of them. I felt like this chapter didn't need to be changed that much as I liked how it was to begin with, plus, it's a small break session for Jaune and the others.

Don't forget to have a look at my profile for some challenges that I have made. Three are Naruto x-over challenges, while one of them is a Harry Potter challenge. They are also located in my update book, the latest chapter anyway. I do hope that they interest you enough to have a go at it.

Chapter 4 - The Dorm

It was just after dinner for the new team members, while it wasn't the first dinner that they had at Beacon, it was indeed the first time they've had dinner as a newly formed team and to be honest, it was pretty awkward, having to not only start to open up with people who they've never met before and with the others, and having to deal with the personalities that may or may not of conflicted with their own.

The only ones who didn't seem to have trouble with talking to each other was Team CRDL from what teams RWBY and JNPR spotted, and from the looks of it, they were a team of guys who seemed to know each other beforehand as they seemed very comfortable with each other and were chatting away on various topics. For team RWBY, they were more vocal on occasion... well, Yang and Ruby were due to them being sisters and sometimes seemed to be butting heads with each other - all lighthearted mind you - with Weiss quipping in every so often to get them to shut up and be quiet. Blake well... she was more focussed on reading a novel, after the small conversation with her earlier, Jaune knew that she really only spoke out when she felt the need to.

She found solace in silence and keeping her thoughts to herself. Whether that was due to her 'shut in' personality or rather 'disinterested' way that she was postured was yet to be seen. Although, there were little doubts that she would be like this for much longer.

For team JNPR, it was a relatively quiet dinner between them - even though they were on the same table as team RWBY - mainly due to the exhaustion from the long day and with the adrenaline long out of thier system from the Nevermore Grimm they faced, while dinner did serve to get them a little more in terms of energy, it wasn't too drastic, which was why Jaune and his new team were groggily walking through the corridors, following Jaune as he had the map of the halls along with the dorm number they were in.

"So... uh, since it's around 8:40, are all of you going to sleep? Or are you going to unpack your belongings first?" Jaune asked, looking over his shoulder and seeing how tired his team seemed to be, his partner Nora was not as excitebale or active and she was walking like a normal human being for once instead of zipping around, Ren looked normal, however his eyelids were drooping ever so slightly, Pyrrha looked to be fine, but her movements were sluggish and her hair was rather disheveled.

"I might as well unpack. I heard that we already have had our stuff dropped off in our dorms after the ceremonies." Pyrrha said, a small shrug of her shoulders as she looked at Jaune, a tiny smile on her face.

"I'll unpack in the morning, I don't have that much stuff with me to begin with." Ren said tiredly, struggling to even keep his eyes open and walk in a straight line without stumbling, however, it was not a problem for him, due to Nora helping him keep his balance.

"I don't mind either option." Nora said rather quietly, displaying her exhaustion that has been the mess of a day they have had.

"Alright then. I guess we also need to figure out bed placements and bathroom schedules. We don't want any unwanted incidents that could lead to misunderstandings." Jaune said with a small sigh, it was going to be a pain to do this, at least when he was back home with his family, every child had thier own bathroom while his parents had a shared one due to thier martial status, and Saphron's and Terra's place had two, so it wasn't a worry. However, it was four people per dorm, and Jaune could safely assume thier was only one bathroom.

"Understandable." Pyrrha spoke out, definately not wanting any incidents to happen like that. It would be so awkward and could lead to the team dynamic to spiral downwards.

"Why does school have to start the day after initiation. That is way too much." Nora complained, with a loud groan at the end of the statement. Jaune also found himself nodding his head to that... he wondered what the people were smoking to decide that it was a great idea for school to start the very next day after initiation.

"Well, Nora, it is not every single initiation that a team of eight of complete strangers fight an older Nevermore, one who has evolved more than the younger ones with experience, of course it will take longer to kill." Pyrrha spoke out to Nora first, who could only nod her head at that.

"I agree, I don't even know why the Nevermore was around in the first place." Ren said, before turning his attention to the orangette and redhead to Jaune, who was taking closer looks at the door numbers along with looking back to the map every so often.

"I'm just glad we got rid of it without serious injuries." Jaune said, before folding the map and placing it in his pocket, along with taking out his scroll and looking at the message which was sent to every team leader, "Here we are, this is our dorm for the year." Jaune announced, moving out of the way so his teammates could see the dorm number to either memorise it or write it down for later use.

"On that note, that was pretty smart of you to use the feathers it launched as another source of damage." Pyrrha praised, a light and tired smile on her face as she praised Jaune for his ability to think of something like that on his feet.

"I agree. Most people, including myself would have not used them and thought of them as a minor inconveniance." Ren said, a small amount of pride in his voice, mostly due to his new team leaders ability to think of things on the fly.

"Aw, shucks. It was nothing. Besides, everyone else did most of the work." Jaune replied, rubbing the back of his head and blushing lightly from the praise, he still wasn't used to it, even after Blake praised him earlier.

Pyrrha shook her head at that, noting how he had some low confidence when it came to things that weren't on the battlefield, "Nonsense. You did amazing, even if you didn't do the most damage, you had a great tactical mind and can think of things on your feet. I believe that you will be a great leader." Pyrrha said, another tired smile on her face as her green eyes glimmered.

Before Jaune could respond further, Nora spoke out next, although in a rather normal tone due to her tiredness, "I agree. Plus, with you as leader, we can make some great things happen." Nora said, a far away look in her eyes. Jaune gulped lightly, not liking the phrasing of that little Nora statement, he turned his head to Ren. All he was met with was a shake of the head and a look that said 'Don't question it.'

"R-right. I-ll try my best." Jaune said, a forced smile on his face. Luckily, no one noticed as he had turned around and was facing the door. He then brought his scroll that the school graciously allowed the students to loan for school work and brought it to the ID system by the door, where a small dinging noise was heard and a light click, signifying the door was now unlocked.

Jaune opened the door with a slight push, finding it rather easy to open and wasn't loud that it would wake others up, which was a good thing. He had bad memories when it came to squeaky doors, who knew that his sisters playing pranks on him could be so horrifying... especially when the main spooks came from squeaking doors at night.

Once inside the room, where everyone followed after Jaune, either wanting to lay down on a bed for a couple of moments or to see what sort of place the dorm was. Jaune was a little surprised by how the dorm looked.

It wasn't as bare as he thought it was, it had four beds, two on one side against the wall and the other two across from them, the walls had a soft brownish-cream colour to them, with the floors being carpeted in a soft colour that was easy on the eyes and in a colour that wouldn't become annoying to look at, it was also rather spacious and from here Jaune could see a dim light coming from around the corner along with a small smooth bench that was free from grime and dirt, which was probably where the kitchen area was located.

There was a door that was a soft cream-coloured wood that was shut with a small tilting handle, if Jaune were to have a guess, he would presume that it was the bathroom area, as it was away from the entrance of the dorm, along with it being away yet close enough to the beds and away from the kitchen where germs could possibly travel from the bathroom and infest on the counter or saturate the air. It would be rather unpleasant to deal with.

"Well, here it is. This is our home for the next year." Jaune announced after taking in the looks and feel of the room. He didn't mind it what so ever, he was used to sharing items or belongings with his family, so living together with his new team, which he still wasn't certain he was a good leader for, however, he would put that past him and improve to the best of his abilities. He didn't want to let his team and his new family down.

"Looks homely." Pyrrha commented on - in her opinion - the rather cute dorm room they would be living in, also taking in the layout of the dorm, which seemed to be a mini-house in size.

"Well, I guess this sorts out the bedding situation." Jaune said, taking notice of the duffle bags or small backpacks that all had thier own emblems of either thier own or family ones on them hanging near the wall on the far side of the room, where Jaune could also see what seems to be a small balcony on the outside of the dorm room, "So... any preferences about which side you want girls?" Jaune asked, wanting to allow the girls to have first choice, even though the beds seemed to be the same quality and size, "With this set up of the room, it would be easier if Ren and I were on the other side of the room to give you the most privacy." Jaune added in before they could answer. Jaune knew that girls liked privacy in the room or in certain things.

Pyrrha seemed to mull it over in her head, placing her hand under her chin with a small thoughtful look on her delicate face, before turning to Nora, who seemed to turn her attention towards the emerald eyed teen, "May we please have the beds closest to the bathroom?" She asked her new team leader, along with the orangette not really looking at them both as she was staring at the bed fondly.

Jaune took an idle glance at Ren, seeing as how he didn't have any vocal objections nor give anything away with his body language, he turned back to the females, "Sure, if that is what you fancy." Jaune complied with the softly spoken request.

"So, Ren, do you have a preference for the bed?" Jaune asked, wanting to know if Ren either wanted the bed closest to the window/kitchen area or closest to the door of the dorm.

"I will take the bed closest to the kitchen area, if that is alright with you." Ren said, his eyes drooping and his overall body language starting to become sluggish and slow.

"Yeah, sure." Jaune said, with a small smile on his face, "Well, if you are going to fall alseep now, I wish you a goodnight." Jaune stated, seeing as how Ren was moving towards the bed he just called his.

"Night Ren."

"Night Renny."

Both Pyrrha and Nora called out with varying levels of enthusiasm as they did so, with Nora being slightly more exciteable... just barely though.

Ren simply gave a thumbs up towards the remaining awake members of his new team before taking the curtain and pulling it behind him, taking vision of the bed of his and leaving it by Jaune's bed.

Jaune gave a small sigh, before wincing at how tired his body was, it felt like it was yelling at him to get everything done quicker in order to finally relax after a long and interesting day, "Alright guys, try to be as quite as possible when moving and unpacking, when I am done, I know that I will be going to bed." Jaune said, before starting to head over to his small backpack that was placed within the room by the staffing members. Turning his head and looking over his shoulders, he gave a slight smile to the girls, "Make sure you don't stay up too late. Everyone needs to have a good rest for classes in the morning, and we will have a small team bonding session tomorrow when it is most comfortable with everyone." Jaune added on, a small smile and his eyes converying a sense of warmth and brotherly instincts flaring as he warned the girls that they need rest.

While he knew that Pyrrha and Nora could possibly be older than him, and were already late teens at this point, the brother instincts he had never dulled down.

Shaking his head clear of those thoughts, he quietly went over to the rather small backpack that he brought for the time at Beacon. It was a rather small bag that was a golden colour with white accents, 'Still can't get over how much our family likes the colours gold and white.' Jaune thought to himself dully, remembering all the items that were either modified to have those colours on them, even the wooden bed frame of his old bed back in the rather luxorious Arc estates was white.

Shaking his head from those thoughts once again, he heaved the bag up and around his shoulder, with one of the golden straps resting along his shoulder guard, quickly checking his peripheral vision, he noticed that Pyrrha and his eccentric partner Nora were already unpacking thier belongings into small dressers by their bedside tables. So he decided to do the same thing.

Leaving those thoughts after pulling the curtain fully closed behind him, he unzipped his bag and started taking out the contents of the bag, most of which happened to be in another plastic bag within the bag which was filled with comic books, new ones that he has yet to read. He carefull took them all out of the plastic bag and let all six new comic books that were rather lengthy and placed them on top of the dresser for now. He then took out his neatly folded clothes which he has yet to use and carefully opened the drawer and placed the clothing items in it, smiling lightly as they seemed to fit perfectly within the dresser.

He frowned lightly as he took a look at the final item within his bag. One of which was his blue rabbit onesie, which his youngest sister made for him due to his unnatural obsession with the Pumpkin Pete brand breakfast he always ate. While he did wear it the first night where everyone was in the ballroom, he still felt all the looks of amusement and the looks of disgust.

He even heard some of the other males making fun of his choice of kiddy clothing, while he did hear the occasional 'cute' coming from the female side of things, it was highly undermined by all the masculinity jeers and taunts coming from the male portion.

Unclenching his hands and allowing the fabric of the onesie to relax and deflate back into position, he placed the piece of clothing back into his bag, in the first portion where he hopefully wouldn't find it again for a longtime.

'Need new pyjamas... I can't just wear shorts and singlets all the time.' He thought to himself, knowing that if he did that, he would have hardly anything left to wear in his usual day-to-day life.

Deciding that it would be best to have some sleep and recover from the hectic day, Jaune decided to finally head to bed, after changing into a pair of plain black shorts and a whiteish-grey singlet that showed his less than average muscles on his arms and setting his alarm on his scroll to seven in the morning... he just hopped that wasn't too early and wake up his new teammates.

Back in Argus, some light snowfall was happening throughout the town which happened quiet frequently due to the positioning and how high up they were on a geographical scale. Lamps and streetlights that were powered by burn dust and rarely electricity illuminated the quaint town, going well with the cobblestone grounds, wooden and brick structures of the place.

However, walking down the streets near one of the more populated side of the town, were two women, who looked to be in thier early or mid twenties.

The first one had wavy, dirty blond hair that was flowing in the soft breeze and soft blue eyes and people could easily get lost in them, along with a pale white skin complexion. She wears an orange top with a beige vest that was covered in some of the freshly fallen snow, and a slight hint of a necklace around her neck, light brown trousers with orange stitches on each side that looked to be a little worn down, and dark brown boots that had some ice at the bottom of them due to walking through the snowy footpaths of the town. In her left hand was a couple of bags filled with groceries and highlighted the wedding ring that was on her left hand.

The women next to her was gently clasping her right hand. The woman had short dark brown hair that had remnants fallen snow in it and lightly swayed in the breeze and dark brown eyes along with having a light brown skin complexion. She has a single smooth bang that goes down her forehead and in between her eyes. She wears a dark navy collar shirt with a light-blue cardigan that looked much more warmer than the other womans vest, dark-gray jeans that seemed to be losing some colour in the fabric and red sneakers. She also wears red glasses and a wedding ring, one that looked the exact same as the other woman.

These women were Saphron Cotta-Arc and Terra Cotta-Arc, happily married women to each other despite the slight problems that society has with same sex couples, and they were currently walking back from a late night shopping trip and walking back to thier house.

"When are we going to tell Jaune about our decision?" Terra suddenly spoke the thing that has been on her mind for the past couple of days.

Saphron blinked at the sudden conversation starter, before glancing over to her wife, "I don't know... while we did tell him we wanted a child, I just don't want to pressure him into doing anything he doesn't want." She said softly, she looked down towards the cobblestone paths that was covered in a slight layer of snow.

"I know... it will be sudden... but I would rather Jaune do it than have someone we don't know do it." Terra said after a brief silence.

Saphron nodded her head lightly, "We can't just tell him to come over here for a surprise. I recieved a scroll call earlier saying how he was accepted and is now a leader of a team." She mentioned to Terra, who nodded her head, remembering how loudly her wife squealed in happiness, before going into mother hen mode and basically doted on him.

"Well, maybe we should call in a week or two." Terra stated, after thinking some things through, "Everything should be settled down by then and hopefully he will help us... it will feel wierd, but we have told him we wanted a child a couple of weeks before he left." Terra finished her train of thought.

"I guess. I just don't want him to feel like he should take responsibility... he is too young for this sort of thing... but knowing him and his morals, he would make every chance he could to help out." Saphron said, remembering all the times Jaune has helped her and her sisters back at home when they were younger, even though the problems had nothing to do with him.

"We will cross that bridge when we tell him our plan." Terra said, effectively ending the conversation and letting a moments silence come over them as they continued to walk along the snowy footpaths of Argus leading to thier home.
