RWBY – The Adorkable Knight

Welcome back to another chapter of this re-written story. I know that within this re-write not that many things had been changed, however, I felt like I needed to re-write it as I felt like the quality at the beginning of the story was poor.

Anyways, I just wanted to let you all know that I am re-writing Jaded Harbinger of Peace, as that story desperately needed one as my writing quality was just... terrible towards the end where everything was rushed. Just to let you know, a lot, and I mean A LOT has already been changed, and I have only done the first chapter so far.

Harem for this story! This will NOT be changed! (Yes, some people are still asking about this)

Jaune x Saphron - Arcest

Jaune x Terra Cotta - Arcotta

Jaune x Pyrrha - Arkos

Jaune x Ruby - Lancaster

Jaune x Yang - Dragon Slayer

Jaune x Blake - Knightshade

Jaune x Weiss - White Knight

Jaune x Glynda - Excalibur

Gronkie: I'm glad that you think that this re-write is good. Thank you for the compliments and I do hope that my stories can continue being addicting when you start reading them.

Neo Sonic: Thank you, considering that we don't have that much information regarding the other Professor's at Beacon Academy, I decided to make Ann Greene a Faunus, not only will that help with the Faunus students who get bullied due to their heritage, but also as a backbone for others to know that a Faunus can become an important figure in life.

Aravas: Sorry that doing that is annoying you. I don't even realise that I do it most of the time, I will try my best to stop doing that.

Chapter 7 - Conversations and Burdens

It has been a rather steady week for the new students of Beacon Academy, slowly falling into routine with the class timetables and trying not to drown within the amounts of homework given within some of said classes. It has also been a time where people have slowly have made some friends with others in thier cohort or in the other year groups, and have made somewhat of a reputation for themselves, either good or bad depending on what you did.

Some people deserved those titles and reputations, like Cardin Winchester 'Resident Bully', others had thier titles forced upon them, much to thier dismay, like Pyrrha Nikos 'Invincible Warrior of Beacon' and another one that surprised a certain group of people, mainly those being team RWBY and JNPR, where Jaune got his own title, that being 'Clumsy Knight' due to his awkard nature in the fighting ring and with his rather ungraceful movements in battle.

Speaking of fighting, Professor Goodwitch's Combat Class was to be expected, regular and daily sparring in tournament style conditions and after the matchups, Professor Goodwitch will give a few pointers on what to improve and what not to do during a sparring match, which Jaune found good, as he can learn from an experienced teacher and combat instructor about what to improve.

The matchup themselves were completely random, one such happening was when it was Nora vs Cardin Winchester, and boy was that match over in a blink of an eye. It seemed to last less than a minute and Nora had already dropped Cardin's aura into the red while she herself only lost a small sliver of aura, and that was due to a lucky and wild swing that Cardin managed to connect.

Another fight that happened was Jaune against the resident member of RWBY, Blake. While Jaune went in with absolutely no expectations to win against Blake as he saw how well she did against the Nevermore in initiation. However, to his surprise, he was able to land two hits on Blake, which were rather sloppy in style and lacked the grace of a in training huntsman.

But, he managed to land two hits on her! That was two more than what he expected! The amount of joy knowing that he at least got a few hits on her really boosted his confidence. Despite not having any formal training, he still had some skill, no matter how miniscule to land a hit on someone who has probably trained for most of her early years in life til now.

However, the excitement that Jaune had for landing a couple of hits quickly dispelled when Blake decided to go on the offensive rather than sitting back. It became a one sided match up, and he was unable to land another hit on the rather quiet and mysterious female of team RWBY.

However, right now, Jaune Arc was currently sitting by his lonesome at one of the selected tables that everyone knew belonged to the teams RWBY and JNPR. At first, the teams were rather awkward around each other to begin with, all the clashing personalities and ideals of the eight members, however, as the week has progressed they have become remarkably close, with everyone already guessing that they will end up like sister teams with thier bonds continuing to grow and flourish.

As he continued to look through his notes from Grimm Studies, a class in which if he didn't pay exact attention to the lectures given... mainly because of how Professor Port drabbles on and on about his child and all of these random stories that could probably bore a Grimm to death. Although, that didn't mean that he could find useful hints within the lectures... if one listened close enough and read between the lines. The notes were mostly on the behaviour of the more common Grimm such as Beowolves and Deathstalkers, with information on how they attack or move about, whether they be in packs, duos or solos.

He learnt that Beowolves generally attacked in packs under leadership of an Alpha Beowolf, where they had a tendency to surround the pray from all sides before working together either to cripple the target for an easier time for the younger ones to experience what it is like to kill something or on the other hand, they simply rush towards the target to eliminate the threat, which sometimes results in maulings or maiming... at the very worst and rarely, to get eaten.

While the last option was rare, it has been rumoured that it gives the Beowolves a little extra kick within them, with some rumours and experiments conducted that while it makes the Beowolf more... animalistic and crazy due to tiny amounts of the persons aura to be ingested into the system which then backlashes in its own body as it has no aura to begin with, studies show that it gains more 'knowledge' and boosts the bone plating that protects them to an extent.

On the other hand, Jaune learned that Deathstalkers worked alone, very rarely would one see two or more working together, unless it was a simple baby one, which is still probably ten feet in length and probably half as high and the bone plating is more softer and squishier as it hasn't had a chance to develop and harden with time, in that case it will pair up with one of the elder ones in the area, a sense of duty as they will help the baby grow to gain knowledge and the skills necessary before it will be left on its own.

'So, recap. If one sees a Beowolf around, take caution as it is likely another half dozen or so are around.' Jaune thought to himself, briefly skimming through the notes he had in his large book and jotting down the more important information in a little pocket sized notebook. 'They have a better sense of smell than most due to adaptation of living in darkened areas and forests. Hearing is another factor, as they can hear something approaching from a good few hundred feet away.' He added, placing all this information down on one page, which he had labelled as 'Beowolf Information' to keep his information in order.

Taking a small break from skimming over his roughly made notes from Grimm Studies and away from his large notebook, he turned his attention to the plate in front of him, which happened to be some chicken stir fry with some sweet chili sauce sprinkled over it. He idly played with some of the vegetables with the durable plastic fork, before getting a piece of the chicken with some vegetables and plopping it in his mouth, savouring the contrasting flavours of the chicken and chili.

"Hey, Jaune." A soft and quiet voice got his attention, which he placed the fork down back on the plate and swallowed what he had in his mouth and turned around to see Ren, looking a little fidgety and nervous about something.

"Oh, evening Ren. What brings you here? I thought you were in a meeting with Professor Greene." Jaune spoke to his teammate, turning his body around fully face his teammate and placing an open body language to make the conversation a bit more easier for Ren.

Yes, Jaune knew that having an open body language made it easier for conversations to continue growing. Something he learnt from a young age when his sisters came home in a bad mood.

"I was, however, it was abrubtly stopped as she was called for an emergency somewhere in Vale." Ren said, taking a seat next to Jaune after placing a cup of herbal tea down on the table.

During the week, Jaune had learnt a bit about his team, moreso how Ren liked to follow a strict schedule that he made for himself, and he even wrote down the times on when he ate or not. Saying something about having the body having the correct amount of time to digest any food before going to bed.

"I see." Jaune said, wondering what sort of emergency it was to have the residentual expert in Beacon Academy be called out... hopefully it wasn't too serious, "Well, you can join me if you want, I was just finishing off dinner and writing some notes down." Jaune said, patting a small space on the table seat next to him.

Ren nodded his head, taking some time to get into a comfortable position on the seat, "So, I noticed that you have a bit into the Stealth and Security book." He pointed out, taking a small sip of herbal tea.

Chuckling awkwardly at having that pointed out towards him, "Yeah..." He muttered out, still remembering the extra reading that he had to do. The first time wasn't his fault, it was the first day of class and the two classes that he had before just tired him out.

However, with the amont of set work at the beginning of the term, Professor Greene had made everyone be prepared for random quizzes in class, if you don't get 80% or over, you had to stay back to revise the stuff that you got wrong, in front of her so she knew that someone wasn't slacking off. If you got over that threshold, you were free to go, but were still advised to study it further.

"How has that class been for you?" He asked, wanting to know what Ren thought about the class.

Shrugging his shoulders, Ren merely replied, "It's... interesting to say the least. We have been learning about the CCT towers and how everything is run on a more in-depth scale."

Nodding his head at that, Jaune had to admit that maybe his class was behind the other ones, they had only just learnt that the next topic will be that, "Maybe we should study together for the class. You know, two brains are better than one?" He asked at the end, sounding a bit hopeful at that.

"I don't see why not. It might lighten the workload a little." Ren said, taking another sip of herbal tea.

After that, the duo found themselves in a small and awkward silence, but not necessarily an unwanted one. With Jaune multi-tasking with eating his food and note taking in his small notebook, along with keeping focus on the seperate things, while Ren just sat there, enjoying his herbal tea. However, he was soon broken out of those thoughts when Jaune called out to him.

"Hey, Ren?" Jaune suddenly called out, bringing the attention of Ren onto him and seeing the questioning look, he continued with his small train of thought, "Since Beowolves seem to have keen sense of smell, will it be possible to have something that could negate it?" Jaune questioned his teammate, who looked to have a contemplative expression on his face as he took everything in.

The only reason why Jaune said this was because it could be something to look into, if you could somehow negate or diminish the sense of smell of Beowolves, then it can be easier to avoid them in general, since Jaune believed they weren't fully mindless beasts of the dark, but could somehow still act like normal animals would when they smell something amiss.

"I... honestly don't know. I believe it would hinder us more than anything... maybe if it was scentless for human noses... I don't think the Faunus will appreciate the smells though, as they do have slightly better senses than us humans." Ren replied, a small shrug of his shoulders at the possibilty of Jaune's little idea to work.

"I see." Jaune said, keeping that information in mind and writing down in his little notebook just in case it can come in handy for later on. He would have to talk to the Professor's about this... maybe Professor Ozpin, he seems like someone who would know, he really didn't want to ask Professor Port and have the jolly man go off on another tangent like he did in class.

Sighing lightly, Jaune closed his little pocket notebook and placed it within his jeans pocket and closed his larger notebook with a small slapping noise being heard as the book closed, before focussing on the remaining nibbles of his food, "So, Ren. I never got the reason why you came here instead of going back to the dorm." Jaune asked, finally realising that he took most of the conversation and didn't allow Ren the chance to properly explain himself... which made him feel like a jerk.

Ren made a small hum as he heard the question, "Well, I came here because Pyrrha and Nora were having some girl talk and gossiping in the dorm. I really don't want to be in the middle of that. So, I went and found you instead."

Nodding his head at that reasoning, Jaune could understand why he would want to avoid being with girls when they started to gossip and have some girl talks, the things that are mentioned and said would be enough to embarrass any male, "I agree. I had to deal with seven sisters who liked to gossip and drag me into the conversations through various ways."

Ren blinked in surprise at that, "You have... seven sisters?" He questioned with a small indecisive pause in the middle, "Does your father..." He trailed off, unable to find a way to ask the question without sounding rude or too intrusive.

Sensing Ren's discomfort, Jaune merely chuckled and decided to answer the unasked question, "Nah, my dad was in another marriage years ago with someone from Vacuo, and my two eldest sisters are from her that marriage. Myself and my younger twin sisters are from dad's 'newest' marriage." Jaune explained, although he still was quiet confused with how to word it.

"The others?" Ren questioned, only noticing that only four sisters were mentioned.

"Well, my mother has a soft spot for orphans, and that is how I have seven sisters." Jaune stated, before shrugging his shoulders, "We have a confusing family, it isn't surprising to know that others might be confused about it."

Nodding his head at that, Ren couldn't help but give the smallest of smiles, "It sounds like you have a nice family." He said, yet the undertone in his voice was clearly that of longing and sadness.

Not noticing the slight change in Ren's voice, he couldn't help but ask, "So, what about your family? What are they like?" He questioned.

Sighing to himself, Ren slouched lightly, something that was out of character for him, "All I can say is that they were wonderful people. My mother was kind and caring, and my father was strong and fought for others." He added on.

"Oh." Jaune said, noticing how Ren worded the stuff concerning his family, "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have asked." He added on, apologising for stepping on a metaphorical landmine like that.

"Don't worry, you didn't know." Ren said, placating some of Jaune's concerns away, "It happened a long time ago. I've had plenty of time to accept that fact." He added on, picking up the cup of herbal tea before swishing the liquid inside a little.

"Still, I'm sorry for having brought it up." Jaune added, feeling a little guilty about talking about his family like the way he did, "I have a feeling that Nora is in the same boat as you, is that why you two are so close?" He said softly.

"Yes. We have been with each other for a long time. She may hide it well, but I can tell that she misses them very much and still mourns for them when she thinks she is alone." Ren said, keeping his attention on the cup of tea that he had in front of him.

Nodding his head at that, Jaune kept that little fact about his partner in mind, in case she has one of those moments where she needs to be alone and not disturbed.

As another silence came up between the duo, Jaune suddenly thought of something, looking towards Ren, he gently placed a hand on his shoulder, bringing his attention from the liquid inside the cup to him, "You know, if you or Nora ever need anything, I can always ask my family to help you, no matter what it is."

Smiling lightly, Ren dipped his head slightly, "Thanks for the offer." He said quietly, "I'll tell Nora that, however, we still need some time to give an answer on that. We don't want to intrude on anything."

"Nonsense." Jaune murmured out, "We are a team, and more importantly, you, Nora and Pyrrha and team RWBY are my friends. I will do anything for you. Friends always stick together and look out for each other."

What Jaune didn't notice when he gave that little speech to Ren was the fact that Glynda Goodwitch made her way through the cafeteria after picking up some late night coffee and some caramel cake. She had heard Jaune's little speech, and she couldn't keep the slight smile hidden on her face as she listened to Jaune explain himself.

Despite being one of the worst performers in her class, she couldn't deny that he had a heart of gold, and it was something refreshing to experience.

Jaune sighed as he sat down on a rather simple cushioned chair on the balcony just outside their dorm room, which had a great view of the front part of the campus, which included the courtyard and cliffside.

He was simply taking in the small breeze that was flowing around, his mind was still processing everything that was recently revealed to him, not only was he leader of a team that had Pyrrha Nikos, his partner was a rather hyperactive person that you could lose track of in a second if you take your eyes off her, he had Ren as another male teammate to try and give him some advice on a few minor things like how to calm oneself in certain situations.

After learning about some of Ren's past, he decided that it would become mandatory for everyone on the team to have some bonding sessions with each other. This was to provide the backbones of would could become a very deep bond and the layer of trust that would lead them to believe in each other and have the layers of what could become more than just being a team.

Jaune wanted his team to become like a family. A family away from home, or in Nora's and Ren's case, to have a family once again. Although Jaune didn't want to try to force this to happen, he still wanted to have a close formation like that.

Despite being the only other male in the group of six girls, Jaune wouldn't want to trade the friendships and bonds that he had made for nothing. Not even a large amount of lien would be able to make him destroy the bonds and friendships that he has made with team RWBY and the rest of his team.

If someone gave him the option to swap to be in another friend group, he would vehemently deny it. He didn't want to risk the wellbeing of his friends. In the short amount of time that they have known each other, from initiation to now, they became important for Jaune, and even though they could defend themselves better than he could, he will still do everything in his power to protect them. It didn't matter if it got him in trouble with the Professor's or the authorities, he would risk it all to protect his friends.

'OK... that sounded real cliche.' Jaune thought to himself with a small shake of the head. He had been reading to many mangas recently, and he could say, they were better then comics, but they still held a place in his heart. He turned his gaze towards the sky, seeing the broken moon shining in all of its mysterious and elegant beauty with some stars shining through the darkness of the sky, "How can my life change so much in so little time." He muttered to himself, thinking of all the good times he has experienced and all the new friends and comrades he has made. Something he would have never thought possible.

He didn't know how long he was gazing up at the stars and moon for, his mind just managed to take all of the stress away once he did, leaving him to relax further into the seat without any worries. It happened everytime Jaune went outside and stargazed, his mind would take away all of his stress, leaving him in a relaxed state that could make him lose track of time, and he didn't know why... he just felt so comfortable.

Ring

Ring

Jaune yelped at the second vibrations running through his legs and taking him out of his dazed state. He was so relaxed that he forgot that he brought his scroll out with him but forgot to take it out of his pocket when he sat down.

Quickly taking the scroll out of his pocket, he saw that on the screen was an image of Saphron on it with her name being displayed as the caller. "Huh." Jaune managed to let out, wondering what Saphron was calling him at this hour for, placing the scroll next to his ears, he hit the answer button.

"Hey Saphron, what's up. I was going to call you tomorrow since it's Saturday." Jaune answered the scroll and immediately got into asking questions of his older sister.

"Oh, hey Jaune. Sorry for the random call, however, I need to talk to you about something important." Saphron's normally rather calm and collected voice was filled with nervousness and timidity over the scroll.

"OK... what's up?" Jaune asked, becoming rather confused about what his sister would want to talk to him about.

"Well... you know how myself and Terra are having our second anniversary soon?" Saprhon asked over the scroll, her voice seemingly getting more timid as she goes along.

"Yeah? Oh, I need to call her and say congrats to her." Jaune said, rather glad that he was reminded about the anniversary right now.

"Jaune... I want you to come back to Argus for a week or two." Saphron stated, after hearing Jaune's little sound of confusion she continued, hoping that her little brother would accept what she was about to offer. Taking a deep breath which was very audible over the line, she added the next part, "We have decided that we want a kid, however, we don't want to get someone random to help us... that is why we chose you to help us with that." Saphron said, after she said that, there was a heavy pregnant pause lingering about.

Jaune's mind blanked for a moment, the sudden request to come home to Argus, and now his sister mentioning that she wanted Jaune to become a baby daddy, by what means he didn't know, however, it was a large thing to have placed on you so suddenly, "U-uh...-" Jaune was cut off when his sister sounded rather desperate now.

"Jaune listen. Terra and I want you to do this, we both trust you and she loves you like you are family, if you accept this, we would be forever greatful. I know that our family wasn't all that happy about us being together... however, if you were to give us this child, it would have the Arc genes in it. Both of us would technically be the mothers while you will be the father." A sharp inhale was heard along with a deep exhale, "Just... please, give me a call. I will give you some time to think about this. Love you, and good luck in the future."

The sudden beep of the scroll managed to knock him out of his little shocked state, he slowly brought his scroll down to his lap and looked rather blankly at the screen. His mind once again going through everything that was just mentioned to him. He sighed to himself, pocketing his scroll once again, he looked up to the sky once more before shaking his head and entering back into the dorm room to sleep on it.

It's not like he didn't want to help them, in fact, he wanted to have a family at one point... however, having been asked to do something like this at the age of 17... it felt like it was suddenly dumped on him... he understood the reasons why Saphron would want him to be the father of the child, mainly because he was loved by both of them, but because he was family to Saphron, and he wanted to help her out... he just needed time to think about all of this, and hopefully tell someone trusted about it.

'Come on Jaune, just take some time to think... this is as big for me as it is for them.' He thought to himself, before stripping down to his nightwear and flopping down onto the soft bed, almost as soon as his head hit the pillow, he was out. His mind finally having a chance to calm down once more.

END CHAPTER

Alright, so how did you like this chapter, as you can see, I did give Jaune and Ren a conversation, which I hoped wasn't too forced. I also gave the start to Glynda's attraction towards Jaune just by having her listen to his conversation with Ren at the final moments. This was not forced by the way, she was just in the right place at the right time after getting her stuff from the cafeteria.

Let me know on what you thought about this chapter. Please review, follow and favorite, and also check out my other works if you haven't already.
