A/N- I know what you guys are thinking. Why aren't I updating In Annabeth's Eyes? Answer- Writers block. Extreme writer's block. I took a break for a bit, and I am now working on it again, so no need to worry. I should probably post again by December at the latest. Anyway, this was a random idea that I had last night, so enjoy! PLEASE comment, and give me new ideas about what ifs that I can do in the future. It shouldn't take me off my schedule, this one only took a day to write, so... yeah. Enjoy!

Annabeth was getting pulled down. She looked down, and there was a string of spider silk around her ankle. She cursed her stupidity as she tried to get it to come off. Unfortunately, all of the wriggling of her ankle caused her grip on the edge to loosen. "Hey, Seaweed Brain! A little help here?" She tried to disguise the terror in her voice, but she knew that Percy would be able to tell.

"Annabeth!" Percy ran over. "Oh gods, Annabeth. Hang on!" Percy grabbed her hand, and crouched down. He inched closer and closer to the edge as Annabeth started slipping off the ledge, only one hand on it. The other was dangling in the darkness. "Hang on Annabeth! I need to get Riptide!" Percy sounded so distressed. "Percy, no! If you go and get Riptide, I'll fall." Annabeth knew that if he let go, she would fall into the abyss. Riptide would be useless then, and she'd have to bear falling into Tartarus. Alone.

"Percy, wait for Riptide to come back into your pocket. Then give it to me and I will cut the silk attaching me to Arachne. I will try to keep it in my hand, but if it falls, it will come back to you. You will pull me up, and we will go back to the Argo II. That's the plan. Got it?"

"How do you come up with a plan while hanging over a cliff that leads to Tartarus? If I were you, I would be terrified."

"Shut up, Seaweed Brain. And I am terrified. I just know how to keep a cool head in the face of fire. Now, do you know the plan?"

"Yes. Hang on, here is Riptide." Percy held out Riptide, and Annabeth reached with her other arm to grab it. Then, she slowly brought it down, and sliced the silk with the gleaming blade.

"Got it. Percy, pull me up."

"Gotcha." Percy strained to pull her up, but eventually managed to get Annabeth up and lying on the ground. She immediately got up, and started running towards the ladder that Leo was hanging down from the Argo II. She knew that if she hesitated, she wouldn't make it. She was running on adrenaline at this point, and if she stopped, she would crash. Frank swooped down in the form of a giant eagle, and Annabeth clambered on, Percy right behind her. Frank flew them to the deck, and then morphed back into human shape.

"Leo! Do you have the Athena Parthenos?" Annabeth was out of breath and in extreme pain, but she managed to keep standing as she asked. This was the only reason she had come to face Arachne, the only reason she had gone under Rome by herself. The Athena Parthenos was the goal. And if they didn't have it, if it had fallen into Tartarus, they were doomed.

"Yep!" Leo replied. Annabeth sighed in relief, then promptly fell to the ground.

A pair of arms caught her, and started helping her to the sick bay. "Hang in there Wise Girl." Percy said. Then Annabeth passed out.

Annabeth awoke to fuzzy shapes hanging around her. Slowly, they became more focused and she could pick out who they were. One was definitely Percy, and the other one was… Piper? She had a concerned look on her face, and Annabeth could tell that something was wrong.

"What? What's wrong now?" she said, exasperated.

Percy exchanged a look with Piper. "Well," he said, " there's been a slight complication. Nico is here, and he told us that the Doors of Death have to be cut on both sides. And one of the sides is in Tartarus. Soooo-"

"Someone has to go to Tartarus." Annabeth interrupted.

"Yes," Piper said, "but the only question is who."

"I'm going." Annabeth said immediately. Piper shot Percy a look.

"Told you." she said. Annabeth turned to Percy.

"If you ever tell me I can't go, you will be on your back in approximately five seconds. I'm going."

"Fine," he said, "but I'm coming with you. And I really don't care what Coach Hedge says."

Piper turned around, and walked towards the door. "I'll tell them the decision." she said over her shoulder, "I don't think that they will be very surprised. Leo is turning the ship around right now, and we should be back in Rome by noon."

Annabeth turned to Percy, a dangerous look on her face. "How. Long. Have. I. Been. Asleep."

"Ummm, about 12 hours. But I didn't want to wake you up, and everyone told me not to, and-" he stopped when he saw the smile on her face. Honestly, he was such an idiot sometimes. But that was why she loved him.

"You should have woken me up." she grumbled. But there was a slight smile on her face. She could never stay mad at him for long. He was too adorable, like a baby seal. He leaned in for a kiss and she obliged. Things were good, for a short time.

They got back in Rome by 11 am, and Annabeth was out of the hospital wing. When Piper told them the news, no one was surprised. Coach Hedge was running around saying that they couldn't go together, because of what happened in the stables (and the fact that they were technically still 'grounded'). Hazel finally managed to convince him that they were literally going to Tartarus, and they would be too busy fighting for their lives to even kiss. Annabeth didn't know what she'd do without Hazel. Leo called "We're here!" Sure enough, they were right above the sinkhole. Annabeth tried to calm herself down, but she found it was impossible.

Annabeth and Percy climbed down the ladder that Leo rolled down. "You ready Wise Girl?" Percy asked.

"Ready as I'll ever be. Are you ready?"

"Nope. Not now, and never will be. But we have to. Ready?"

"Ok. 3...2...1... JUMP!" They plummeted into the darkness. But as they fell, she heard him say

"You're not getting away from me. Never again."

A/N- I needed to put that line in there. Anyway, hope you guys enjoyed! Comment your thoughts, and give me ideas for other what ifs! It doesn't have to be Percy Jackson, it can really be anything. This was just a random oneshot that popped into my head last night. Anyway, PM me for questions, comment, and have a great day!
