"As you all know, we have a new student who is going to start attending her second year here at Hogwarts" The headmistress started.

Whispering was heard and looks were thrown her way. She gripped Louis' hand nervously, the boy gave her a worried look. Because she was a special case, they decided to do her sorting after the first years. It was already wellknown that a descendant of Voldemort was joining them at school, thus people were giving her wary looks and barely conceiled glares.

She probably overdid it, sitting at the Gryffindor table; right next to a Weasley. She just sat there because Louis had dragged her alongside him, the boy was honestly not the smartest. Or maybe he noticed the tension and was just ignoring it.

"Hailey Riddle, can you please stand up?" Louis gently stroked her hand, trying to calm her down but it didn't really work. The murmuring got louder as she stood up. Everyone in the Great Hall having their eyes on her.

"You should have been aborted!" Hailee had to do her best to not cry as she heard someone yell that at her.

"SILENCE!" McGonagall ordered, giving the student a hard glare which had him look away nervously.

With an encouraging nod from Louis, she made her way towards the hat. The teachers also gave her distrustful looks. She started wondering whether going to Hogwarts had really been a good idea. Slowly she sat down as the hat was placed on her head.

The hat laughed. You're related to him? How interesting.

Please not slytherin... She didn't need people to mistrust her even more.

He tarnished your last name, but I believe that you can change that. The hat told her gently. I won't change my mind, I truly think you're fit for...

"SLYTHERIN!"

Hailee bit her lip, taking the hat off and slowly making her way to the Slytherin table. Even they didn't look happy at her being there. Of course, why would they? They probably had to deal with stereotypes and bullying from the other houses. She was just going to make things harder for them.

She stood at the end of the Slytherin table, hesitating on where she should sit. She wanted to sit next to Scorpius or Albus, but would they want her to? She wouldn't be angry if they preferred to not be seen with her in public. She realized that she was taking too long but she couldn't help it. This was too much. She hated him. She really did.

It was so unfair that she had to pay for his wrongdoings. She didn't care anymore, she let the tears fall. Murmurs were heard and she thought that she heard some chuckling.

She felt someone gently grab her hand and gasps were heard. She opened her eyes, looking into worried green ones. She opened her mouth to say something, but nothing came out. Albus had stood up from his place and grabbed her hand in his. Albus. Albus Potter had grabbed her hand. A Potter grabbing the hand of a Riddle. He led her further down the table, ignoring the shocked looks of his fellow students and had her seated next to him. Scorpius was sitting in front of her, handing her a tissue to dry her tears. She gratefully took it.

McGonagall coughed. Just like everyone else, she had looked on with shock and surprise. "Let the feast begin!" Food appeared on the tables and people awkwardly started eating. After a few minutes, they got more comfortable and started talking amongst each other.

Hailee started eating slowly, watching Albus and Scorpius having a conversation. She still didn't feel comfortable because she felt people taking glances at her every now and then.

She was also scared. When she hesitantly looked at the Gryffindor table, while Louis had given her a smile, his family gave her murderous glares. Saddened, she started playing with her food. She felt Albus petting her head. "Ignore them, the looks are probably meant for me."

She didn't believe him.

"I'm happy that we're attending school together." Scorpius said.

They were making their way to their common room. Hailee didn't answer, she just kept on walking. The two boys shared worried looks.

"I really, really am happy." Scorpius continued. "Even though I had Albus and Louis, I was still a bit sad. I mean how couldn't I, we're inseperable."

Hailee stopped walking. "You should be very happy I came."

"Well yeah.. I just said that," Scorpius said slowly while Albus let out a snort.

Hailee smirked at them. "All the bullying you endured is now only going to be directed at me. You're welcome!"

They stared at her in shock.

"We won't let them hurt you," Albus said quickly. "I mean, okay I totally hate your grandfather and he's- I mean was- a disgusting human being. b-But you, I like you. You don't deserve this." He stepped forward and hesitantly reached a hand out before placing it on her shoulder. "Ignore them. You have Scorpius, you have Louis and you have me. We're your friends, ok?"

Hailee's cheeks flushed, she was glad that her skin was dark enough that they couldn't see her blush. "Wow... Thanks Albus. I feel a bit better. I'm happy you consider us friends.."

They all smiled at each other before making their way to the common room.

Hailee bit her lip. Cold and eary. That was what the common room was.

And so were the people...

The people who were present all had their eyes fixed on them, no her.

Sighing, she dug out the paper on which her dorm was written from her pocket. She looked at it and was about to make her way to the girl's dormitory when someone stepped in front of her, blocking her path.

Albus groaned. "School has barely started, can you not?"

The boy didn't even spare him a glance. "Shut up Potter, I deal with you later." He slowly travelled his eyes up and down her body. She felt uncomfortable with the concealed anger in his eyes.

Even so she could appreciate his face. He really was beautiful. Olive toned skin, dark eyes and wavy dark brown hair. He finally spoke. "How disgusting. After everything your granddaddy has done, you think you can just waltz in here and think we're going to treat you as one of us?" His glare itensified. "Your life is going to be a living hell if you stay here, I can promise you that."

"Shut up, Emanuel. She hasn't done anything," Scorpius defended her. Hailee didn't expect him to speak up. Scorpius was the shy type after all.

Emanuel gave him a disgusted look. "Dude, you already get bullied for being related to the Malfoys, you really want to make it worse by hanging out with her? You're really not the brightest."

"Who cares about what people think?" Albus rolled his eyes at his classmate. "She's attending Hogwarts and she's in Slytherin. She's here to go to school and learn magic and there's nothing you can do to change that."

Emanuel scoffed and walked away.

"Lovely." An older student raised her hands exasperatedly. "We already get shit for being Slytherins and now we're housing a mini Voldemort? How amazing is that?"

Other people started speaking up too, voicing their anger. Hailee looked down at the floor, with Scorpius rubbing her back in a way to try and comfort her. She had never felt so hated in her life before. No wonder her mother sheltered her. She couldn't help but worry about her mother. If she already got treated this bad, her mother as his daughter, had it even worse after the war ended.

"Silence." A tall and striking black boy bellowed. "I understand the concern but there's nothing we can do. Stop complaining and leave her be."

"But Jerome-" The girl who started complaining earlier started.

"Shut up Lexie. It's already embarassing enough that you're picking on a twelve year old," He told her.

Lexie rolled her eyes and looked away.

"I'm going to have to deduct House points if you don't leave her alone and you know we need those points." Jerome warned.

Hailee quickly understood that he was Slytherin's male Prefect. She was thankful that he stood up for her but was aware that he may feel exactly as the other students. The Slytherins started complaining, but listened. No one spared her a glance anymore. At least for now.

"Hey boys, I'm going to the dormitory. I'm tired."

"Yeah, sure, see you tommo-" Albus started but Hailee already left for the stairs.

The girls in her dorm gave her wary looks. One of them even made a disgusted face. Hailee ignored them and choose the only left over bed.

She got dressed in her sleepwear(which was just an oversized grey T-shirt) and was contemplating on whether she should write her mom a letter today or tommorow. She eventually decided to do it later. After tying her hair in a bun, she closed the curtains and got in her bed. She tried her best to sleep but soon started sneezing. She couldn't stop. She sat up and kept sneezing. She suddenly heard loud laughter from the other girls and realized that she had been hit with the Steleus hex.

With tears in her eyes she kept sneezing. She had hoped to make friends with her roommates, but clearly that was not going to happen.
