"Tell me about the time you two met each other." Scorpius froze at her request. Scorpius was one of the few people she allowed to do her hair. Despite him having a completely different hairtype he knew how to treta her curly hair without damaging it.
She was sitting at the foot of his bed, between his legs while he was braiding her hair in a complicated braid she would never be able to replicate.
Albus was laying on his bed, reading a Muggle comic book. She wondered why he didn't read a Wizarding one until she remembered that he had Muggle cousins.
The two boys shared a look. "You never told her how we became friends?"
Scorpius flushed. "I just told her when we became friends but never really how."
Albus hm'ed. "I didn't like Scorpius at the start. I found him annoying and thought it was weird when he started trying to chat to me… while we were in the loo."
Hailee giggled.
"I was also a bit judgmental of…well people with families like yours…"
Scorpius and Hailee snorted.
Albus sighed. "I like to blame my uncle Ron for it but part of it was because of my own fears. But Scorpius kept trying to talk to me and well…" He blushed. "I guess I just accepted him in the end."
Hailee awed. Why was he so cute?
"I mean we are kind of similar. A lot of people have these expectations of us because of who our fathers are, you know. " He shrugged and reopened his comic book. "So yeah…"
Hailee had the feeling he wasn't telling everything but she decided not to pry.
She longed to have a close female best friend like Scorpius, Albus and Louis had each other. Sure, she didn't mind having male friends but she needed to interact with girls of her age too.
They had cornered her during the weekend. The day started out good. She still had her hair in the nice plait that Scorpius had done for her and was wearing a nice comfy sweater ad pants that Albus had lend her as she had no Muggle clothing. Sure they were a bit big on her but thanks to wearing a belt she barely noticed it. Just like every other day, she had eaten breakfast with Albus and Scorpius, waving at both Louis and Lorcan.
Albus had then gone off to Quidditch practice. Scorpius had joined him, though she had the feeling that he was mostly there because he liked how the Quidditch uniform looked on the male players. She had decided not to join them and instead work on her essay( which she perhaps should have done sooner with Scorpius' help but she had been lazy).
It was on her way to the library when it happened. Before she knew it she was hanging upside down, the baggy sweater over her face so she could barely see anything and revealing to everyone who walked past what she didn't want to see. She heard giggling.
"Nice tits, Riddle girl."
Hailee was mortified. She wanted to cry.
"How about we dump her in the Great Lake? Serves her right."
" Petrificus Totalus."
She felt someone doing the counter spell on her and suddenly she was back on the floor. Embarrassed she pulled her sweater down and crossed her arms over her chest, tears in her eyes.
In front of her the Slytherin male prefect, Jerome, stood. "Are you okay?"
She whimpered. He awkwardly looked away. "I didn't really see anything, don't worry."
She burst out crying and Jerome looked pained. Sighing he walked closer and gave her a tissue. He then turned and glared at the still frozen assaulters.
Three girls and one boy from Gryffindor, one of them being Polly Chapman. "30 points from Gryffindor. I will also take you to the Headmistress so she can decide your punishment."
He looked back at her. "Will you be fine on your own?"
She nodded. He unfroze the assaulters and urged them towards the headmistress. They did as told, glaring at her as they went. She walked away from the direction to the library. She didn't want to go anymore. She just wanted to curl up in a ball and cry.
She bumped into someone. Looking up she was looking straight at James Potter's angry face. "Watch where you're going." He snapped at her, before roughly shoving her aside to continue walking. His cousin Roxanne was following behind him, giving Hailee an icy glare. She was surprised they hadn't done anything to her yet.
Hailee let out a sob. Why did she come here ? She wasn't going to survive here until the end of the school year. Should she just go home ?
"Hailee? "
She turned and saw Louis looking at her, surprised. "Why are you alone? Where are Albus and Scorpius? "
"Q-Quidditch practice. I wanted to go to the library." She wiped away her tears.
Louis frowned at her. "I come from the library. You're going the wrong way "
She didn't want to have this conversation so she turned away. He walked towards her and grabbed her wrist, stopping her from walking away. "Tell me what happened."
She let out a shaky laugh. "What always happens. People don't like me, so they hex me."
He looked livid. "Who? "
She looked away, the fire in his eyes made her uncomfortable. "People from your house. I only recognized Polly though."
He sighed. "There's something seriously wrong with that girl. Albus and I refused to come over uncle Ron's house during summer break because that girl was obviously invited by Rose to sleep over. Can't believe they're friends."
Hailee had no trouble with believing that. Rose Weasley was obviously a very judgmental person.
He suddenly started dragging her towards the other way. "I can help you with whatever you have to do in the library. Let's go."
A couple of minutes later they were in the library. Louis sitting on a chair, watching how she took a couple books from a shelf. "What are you actually looking for? I know we have a potions essay coming up, but that's not the only thing you're looking for, right?"
She suddenly stopped.
"Hailee?"
The girl bit her lip. "I'm going to borrow a book talking about him."
"Oh." He was surprised. He thought she hated the man so much she didn't want to talk about him.
"I just… I don't know."
"You don't have to explain yourself. I mean I'm quite curious myself." He gave her an encouraging smile. "We can read together."
She hesitantly smiled back before taking the seat next to him placing the book in the middle. She was dimly aware of how their arms and legs were touching and was happy that her skin was too dark for him to see that she was blushing.
Just like that they read through her grandfather's biography; though a few minutes into reading she noticed students from a nearby table looking at them. Their looks weren't friendly at all. Letting out an inaudible sigh she turned back towards the book. When she noticed that they were still throwing stares at her she angrily shut the book. Realizing that Louis was reading with her she turned to apologize but the boy had stood up and was glaring at the students form the other table. "Take a picture, it'll last longer." He then gripped her wrist and pulled her from her chair. "Let's go." She simply nodded.
She smiled fondly at the three boys walking ahead of her. Louis was reading Albus' Potions essay and teasing him about his handwriting. Albus was biting back, ears red in embarrassment, how his handwriting was even worse. Scorpius was alternating between admiring Louis' looks and trying to get Albus to calm down. If someone had told her a year ago how she would be able to attend Hogwarts and make three close friends she would have thought they were making a cruel joke.
She quickened her steps to catch up with the boys as they entered the classroom. "I like how we don't just learn about potions by reading through our textbook. We actually get to make them." She said excitedly, a bit loud as some Gryffindors looked at her.
"Of course the Riddle girl is thrilled." Polly said, a nasty smile on her face.
"Who was talking to you?" Louis asked her icily. "Don't concern yourself with her. Your existence is merely an annoyance to Hailee."
"Louis.." Hailee said worriedly as she noticed that students had stopped talking to focus on them.
Polly snorted. "Well if she finds me so annoying, I'm sure she's plotting my death already. I wonder what spell she's going to use..?"
"Take that back." Louis said, his eyes hardening.
"Cunt," Albus muttered under his breath.
Polly was about to say something when Rose tugged on her wrist to make her sit down. When the girl gave the redhead a questioning look, the girl simply shook her head.
Letting out a breath, Louis went to sit next to a Gryffindor friend of his.
Scorpius and Albus gave her a look and went to sit down too.
Sighing, she slid into the seat beside Martin Zabini. Like always , he ignored her existence as he looked at the board. Zabini, not the one sitting next to her but his father, entered the classroom and took his wand out. In a couple of seconds ingredients were laid on the board. It was funny how quickly Slughorn had retired. Luckily they were able to quickly find a replacement. And the girls in her year were very happy about it. Mr. Zabini did inherit his mother's beauty after all. And now that she thought about it, Martin also inherited his grandmother's beauty.
She let out a sigh as she put her curly hair up in a bun. From the corner of her eye, she saw that Martin was eyeing her, an unreadable look in his dark eyes. When she turned to look at him questioningly, he quickly looked back to the front. She raised an eyebrow in confusion.
Here are the years everyone is in:
2nd-- Albus, Rose, Scorpius, Louis and Hailee
3rd-- James, Roxanne, Fred II
4th-- Dominique, Molly
5th-- Lucy
7th-- Victoire
I looked it up and Louis Weasley is canonically around 13 years old during the time of the epilogue, making him two years older than Albus and a year older than James. In this story I decided to make him the same age as Albus and Scorpius.
Thank you to the people who have been reading this story since the beginning. I know I take a very long time between updating so y'all are some patient mf'ers lmao
