"A lot has happened during these months, from family reunions, watching new movies, enjoying summer vacation, meeting old friends and making new ones, it was all fun.

But of course came a some sad moments, from me getting really sick, having family members in the hospital or died from natural causes and even supporting your friends from their hardships and dream.

I even found love but then it shattered because you're not what they want you to be and asking you to change, which is stupid cause nothing will make me change who I am, as long as I have my family and friends who love me for being me, I will always be happy.

So why I'm saying all this when you rather be reading the chapter, its because this is all I can say for the reasons I couldn't update. All I can do is try my best to find time to write and update when I can.

So once again Thank you everyone for staying with this story"

When I said that I meant I didn't have water for 3 moths I meant there was no water from the area where I live, heck there are still some areas that don't have water even now. We had plenty of water to drink thanks to the government and the USA army, but for taking a shower and cleaning we found plenty of rivers to gather water to clean and do laundry it was quiet an adventure

At the end we manage just fine and me and my family are all doing okay. Thank you

Chapter 7

Iona was standing outside of Chief Stoik the Vast house in the earliest of hours, one of the many reasons why the Viking girl was here, is because she needed to talk to the Hiccup. Ever since what happened at dragon training, Iona couldn't stop thinking about how the small clumsy Viking was able to confront the Zippleback and after his sudden run away from yesterday and being at the forge at night making who knows what with little miss seaweed red hair, she was getting more curious to know what was going on.

Iona knocked on the door three times and waited to hear Hiccup's voice calling out or the sound of his footsteps stomping through the wood of the house, but she didn't hear any reply from the clumsy Viking or his footsteps. She knocked on the door again three times harder but after another minute of silence there was no respond from him at all.

"Hiccup" called Iona but got no respond from the Viking boy. "Hiccup!" she raised her voice higher thinking he might be asleep but again nothing.

"HICCUP!" Iona voice was so loud it frightened a few birds that flew away and even she heard the voices of other Vikings from the village yelling for whoever shouted to shut up. But yet again she got no respond from Hiccup which means he was not home, and that only got the Viking girl to wonder even more why Hiccup wasn't at his house? And where in Thor's name could he possibly be at this early hour?

~0~

Hiccup turned his head towards the direction to where the village was and couldn't help but feel that someone might have said his name but he shrugs his shoulders thinking that it was all in his head. The Viking boy was on his way to the cove to quickly test the leather belt and cord before dragon training started. With a basket, saddle and fin in his hands Hiccup was feeling excited to see Merida after they finally made amends and became friends again. He hasn't felt this exited since he caught Toothless with his invention, granted he cause the dragon unable to fly but still he was doing everything he can to fix it and was glad that he had Merida to help him.

Merida was sitting on a log waiting for Hiccup to show up while tying her hair with a thin cloth while she waited, it was never easy brushing her hair since it's impossible to tame her wild curls but she liked it that way, nonetheless it had to be tied up since it could get caught on something or be burned by a dragon. When she was done tying a knot at the end of her hair, she suddenly heard something. She began to worry that perhaps somebody may have followed her. She took her bow and arrow, got off the log and quickly hid behind a tree. Merida stayed quiet and heard the sounds of footsteps, it could be Hiccup but she didn't know for sure if it was him, so she waited until whomever or whatever it was came a bit closer. As soon as the footsteps were close enough, Merida took a deep breath, got her bow and arrow ready and jump out.

"AH DON'T SHOOT! DON'T SHOOT!" Shouted a freaked-out Hiccup, raising both his hands to block his face making him dropped everything he was holding.

Merida flinch and didn't let the arrow go, when she saw that it was only Hiccup, she made a big sigh and put away the arrow in her quiver " Dornt sneak up oan me like that"

Hiccup lowered his hands and let out the air he was holding. "I-I-I wasn't even t-trying to" he said still half-scared from almost getting shot.

"Sorry Ah thooght somebody might have followed me" she admitted feeling a little embarrassed.

"It's okay. B-But I'm glad that nobody did follow you" said Hiccup as he grabbed the saddle from the ground "Does Gothi know you're out here?"

"Yes, she knows" answered Merida as she grabbed the heavy basket. "But she'll think that Am out in the woods shootin' arrows, so there's naethin' to worry about" she assured him.

Hiccup gave a small smile. "That's good".

"I'll tak' the baskit" she said while placing the basket on her back.

"Thanks" says Hiccup as he adjusted the saddle and fin on both his hands "Let's go".

Hiccup and Merida began making their way to the cove; neither said a word or tried to make a conversation feeling no need for it. They felt casual around each other now that everything is good between them. Both Viking teens arrive at the entrance to the cove. Hiccup went in first then Merida, as they made their way down, they saw the Night Fury sleeping at the far side of the cove than he was yesterday. Toothless heard the sound of human footsteps and opens his placid green eyes and sees that the small Viking boy was back and so was the red-haired Viking girl. Then the dragon smelled something tasty he lifted his head to know where the smell is and realize that it was coming from the two humans, which meant they brought more fish for him to eat.

Merida places the heavy basket down and rubs her wrist to sooth the pain from carrying it. She was about to grabbed her bow and quiver to place them on the ground but was caught surprise by Hiccup suddenly standing in front of her with one hand back to shield her while the other was raised towards a very excited black dragon.

"Easy bud. Easy, easy" said Hiccup trying to calm the dragon down in which Toothless sat but his wide eyes were focus to where the basket was. Hiccup knew that Toothless wasn't going to hurt Merida, he was just hungry and wanted the fish but was worried if the Night Fury had come charging towards the red-haired Viking, she will react on instinct and accidently shoot him.

Hiccup looked at Merida and made a gestured with his head that pointed to the basket, Merida nodded understanding his message, and with both hands she took hold of the basket and handed it to him. Hiccup thanked her with a nod and walked away with the basket which made Toothless to follow right behind him. Hiccup found a nice spot for Toothless to enjoy his breakfast without being disturbed; he opened the top and spilled all the fish out. Toothless quickly dug in on the fish and Hiccup back away and tried not to vomit.

Hiccup returned to where Merida was, she was sitting on the ground eating half of a piece of bread, she notices his approach and extended the other half of the bread for him. Hiccup gladly accepted the offer and sat down next to her. "Thanks. And s-sorry about Toothless" he said giving her an awkward smile.

"It's alrecht. Ah would act th' same way as heem if ye waur bringin' me food" said Merida taking another bite of her bread. Hiccup nodded and took a bite.

When he finished eating the bread, he notices Merida grab something from her bag and it was a red apple. Merida used her dagger to slice it in half and then gave him the other half.

Hiccup took it and couldn't before help but laugh a little "I see you still like apples" he said as he remembers the times he would give her an apple to cheer her up or when she got mad.

"Not like Ah ever stopped" Merida smirk as she took a bite from her half.

As they were waiting for Toothless to finish, Merida added a few more carvings on her bow and Hiccup was looking over the saddle and fin to make sure they were ready for another test flight. He suddenly felt a tap on his shoulder and turns his head towards Merida, she pointed at something and he sees that Toothless has finished eating.

"Ye better test out whatever it is ye want, because dragon trainin' will begin soon" informed Merida as she looked at the sky, it was very cloudy but she knew that it was already the time for everyone in the village to be awake.

"Right" Hiccup grabbed the saddle and fin and he went towards the dragon.

Toothless let the small Viking put the handmade fin on him and didn't run away when he placed the saddle on his back. When Hiccup was sure the saddle and fin were well adjusted, he then tied a rope to the fin like before, but this time he will attach the other end to his left foot. Hiccup figured that he could control the tail fin with his foot while he kept both his hands on the saddle, so it is easier to hang on and not to fall out. Hiccup then took off his fur vest and put on the leather belt; he then got on Toothless and attached the two cords that were on both his sides to the saddle which will also keep him from getting thrown off.

Hiccup pull the leather cords making sure it was sturdy, he looks over himself and Toothless and gave a nod approval that their ready for another test flight.

Merida came in closer and didn't know whether or not she should be impress seeing Hiccup on a Night Fury again but something tells her that she will ever get tired seeing him on a dragon anytime soon. She noticed that he tied the rope that connects to the prosthetic fin to his left foot and was starting to worry.

"Hiccup. Are you sure about having that tied to your foot?" she asked pointing at it.

"Just an idea to see if it works and it'll be easier to hang on" replied Hiccup as he got himself ready to take off while Merida took a few steps back and watched them from a safe distance.

Hiccup looked at the dragon "Ready for another test flight?" Toothless got into position and spread his wings out "Let's go"

They flew up and Hiccup kept both hands on the saddle with as much grip as he could and moved his left foot up to open the fin and for a second, he was doing fine but the fin closed up and Hiccup feels Toothless falling down and they crash landed. Merida gave a sigh and makes a mental note to bring healing supplies next time before the Viking boy and black dragon get seriously hurt. Hiccup was still on the saddle thanks to the leather belt that was still connected to the saddle and felt relief that he didn't fall into the water again.

"You alright bud?" He asked and Toothless nodded "Want to try again?"

The dragon merely got into position and spread his wings again, Hiccup smiled and once again they took off.

With a loud roar, Toothless flew as high as he could around the cove while making sure that the small Viking boy doesn't fall off, Merida couldn't stop the small smile forming on her face from seeing them flying. Hiccup held on tight and turns his head to look at the prosthetic fin, he tried to pull open the fin but it just kept closing. He was able to get the fin to open but then it closed and it threw their flying off balance, with a panic screamed they landed in a field of tall green grass. The landing threw Hiccup off the saddle and he luckily landed on his feet for once. Suddenly Hiccup heard what sounded like a mixture growl and a purr, he turns back towards Toothless and was completely dumbfounded by what he saw.

The Night Fury was still in the same spot that he landed which was now flatten thanks to his big body but what Hiccup couldn't stop looking at was that the dragon was on his back turning from side to side with a blissful expression on his face. Toothless kept turning and stretching all around the grass, making him feel so good and relax that he wouldn't mind staying like this forever. Hiccup was really confused at Toothless strange behavior until he notices that he was rubbing his head against the grass a lot, he pulls some of the grass with his hand and smelled it, the scent that the grass gave was a bit garlicky. Hiccup gazed back at Toothless and came to the conclusion that perhaps the grass was giving out some sort of strong scent that might seem fine to him but seem to have an effect on the dragon, which apparently makes him act less aggressive and more rapturous.

"Hiccup!"

The auburn boy turns his head to the direction he heard his name from and already knew who the voice belongs to. Merida was looking from left to right for any signs of the Viking boy and Night Fury, when she saw Hiccup and Toothless fly up and crash land somewhere off the cove, she immediately left the cove and started scouting from where she last saw them.

"Hiccup! Hiccup!"

"Merida!"

The red-haired girl turned her head to where she heard the voice and quickly ran to that direction but then got herself surprise by almost running into the Viking boy and luckily, they both stop right on time before they could collide at each other like last time.

Merida gave a sigh of relief "Hiccup are ye alrecht?" she asked with worry in her voice.

"I'm fine but you have to see this" without giving her time to respond, Hiccup reached out for her hand and briskly drags her to where Toothless is.

Before Merida could say anything, she was pull along to a field of tall grass and was met with an unexpected sight; she saw the unholy offspring of lighting and death itself rolling along a field of grass purring with a joyful look on his face. Merida looked at Hiccup with a perplex expression to what she was seeing, the Viking boy understood her stump look since no one would ever imagine seeing the deadliest of dragons of all act so… well like that.

"It seems to be this grass" Hiccup replied showing her the grass in his hand in which she grabs it and her blue eyes examined it "I think that the scent it gives out is making him act… well like that"

Merida smelled the grass that she was holding and recognizes the scent as one of the herbs that Anma uses for her remedies, she looked back at the dragon and still didn't understand why Toothless seems to enjoy the smell of the grass so much, sure it smells sort of nice but she still doesn't quite get it. Suddenly Merida realizes something that she should have earlier, she glances at her right hand and sees that it was still being held by Hiccup's left hand and he hasn't let go since. Merida glances at the Viking boy and sees that he was not even aware of it, he was still staring at the black dragon but his mind was somewhere like always whenever he discovered something new.

"Umm Hiccup…" she said while her face was turning a bit red.

Hiccup blinks and turns his attention at the red-haired Viking girl, he was confused that she was not making eye contact with him and also wondered if she was feeling well since her face seemed a bit red. Merida glance at him but her eyes were narrowed which made Hiccup feel nervous thinking that he did something to make her mad again.

"You can let go now" she said flatly.

Hiccup didn't understand what she meant until he looks down and his eyes go wide with shock that he was still holding her hand. As if it was on fire, Hiccup snatches his hand back and jerks away but that cause his foot to slip and to fall on his back. Hiccup was very grateful that his fall didn't hurt so much thanks to the grass but just like Merida his face turned red from embarrassment.

Merida was startled when Hiccup swiftly back away and then fell down, before she could stop herself, she let out a small giggle from seeing that silly display. Hiccup still felt embarrassed but scoff at it and gave a small smile. Merida held out her hand offering assistants in which Hiccup gladly took it and was easily hosted up in zero seconds.

"T-Thanks" he says nervously.

Merida shrugs her shoulders but then looks up and places her hand on her hip "We need to heed back" she said seeing the sky as clear as… well day. "Befair anyain starts to actually wonder whaur we are"

"I know but first…" Hiccup looked back at Toothless and gave a sigh; the dragon was still rolling on the grass without a care in the world "We need to get him back to the cove" he said knowing that it was not going to be easy.

Merida watched as Hiccup tried to get Toothless to get up from the grass, but was not having much luck. The dragon was basically addicted to it which was good for him but bad for Hiccup if he can't get the scaly lizard to move away from it.

Merida picks a bit of grass from her hand and then a thought came to her that might just work "Hiccup" the Viking boy stopped pushing the dragon and turns his attention at her "Ah think Ah have an idea"

Both Viking teens finally manage to get Toothless away from the field of grass thanks to Merida's idea, in both arms she was carrying an arm full of the scented grass and got the dragon to follow her as she made her way towards the cove with Hiccup on the saddle. When they arrive, Merida was at the edge of the circular cove, she looked at Hiccup and asked him if he was ready and he replied with a nod. Merida made a ready stance and briskly threw the grass into the cove and without delay moved out of the way. As soon as the grass was thrown the Night Fury made a beeline towards it and jumped into the cove and with Hiccup's help, he manages to open the fin long enough for them to fly down safely.

Once on the ground Toothless seemed to slowly go back to his normal behavior, Hiccup then remove the saddle and fin from the dragon. Hiccup patted the dragon on the head and told him that he'll come back later; the Night Fury nodded and then made his way to the lake to drink. Hiccup picks up the saddle and fin and hides them behind some rocks; he figures that the items will be safer here than in the forge or his house where no one will find them. He will however bring the leather belt with him to make a few changes to it.

~0~

When Hiccup and Merida returned to the village, Hiccup quickly left the leather belt at the forge and then he and Merida made their way to dragon training. As they were crossing a wooden bridge, they were caught surprise seeing Iona at the end of it, she had her mace on her right shoulder and was looking at nothing but the sky until her eyes notice their approach.

Iona turn her body towards them and then place her left hand on her hip "Where have you been?" she asked directly at the auburn-haired Viking.

Hiccup was taken aback by her sudden interest in him but answered "I-I was at my h-house"

"Really? Because I went to your house earlier but you weren't there and I didn't see you at the forge either" said Iona as she narrows her eyes.

"O-Oh that's right! I w-was actually at Raven's point training w-w-with Merida. Yep just training! You know how it is, got to stay fit for the next dragon battle" babbled Hiccup hoping that she bought it.

Iona looks suspiciously at the small Viking but then she turns her gaze at the red-haired girl "Since when did the two of you started training together?" She questioned.

"Don't see how that's any of yer business" replied Merida her eyes narrowing at the Viking girl.

"Maybe, but I am curious to know why two certain pair of Vikings were at the forge in the middle of the night making who knows what" retorted Iona.

Hiccup eyes went wide from what he heard her say, but Merida didn't show any signs of surprise, they were both thinking the same thing wondering if she knew anything related to a certain black scale dragon but knew that if she had known something the whole village would have known by now.

"If ye must know" spoke Merida with her arms crossed "I was helping Hiccup with his new invention that will help heem catch dragons"

Iona rolled her eyes "Like every single one of his other inventions that always end up in disaster"

"I guess you would know since you always end up a disaster at the ring" replied Merida.

After hearing that Iona gave the redhead a death glare and Merida gladly returned her own death glare to little miss big mouth. Hiccup was having a sense of nostalgia seeing the two Viking girls going at each other again like when they were little. 'They haven't change at all' thought Hiccup and started to wonder how he can stop them before they decide to kill each other.

"What are you guys doing?"

Hiccup, Merida and Iona turn their attention to see Astrid walking up to them looking at the three of them with a confuse expression and so did the rest of the Viking teens "Is there a problem here?" she asked.

"Oh, ah n-nothing really just having a small talk that's all" stammered Hiccup and quickly starting walking ahead "We uh b-better get going, don't want to be late to fight dragons am I right?"

Merida and Iona gave each other one last glare and then began following the small Viking boy, Astrid still suspected that something happened between them but saved it for later as she and other Viking teens made their way to the training ring.

As they all entered the arena, the young recruits took notice that there was a small audience above them. Hiccup knew that the Viking adults were there to watch how all of them can handle fighting the dragons but a small part of him knew that they're also here to see if the rumors about him taking on the dragon all by himself were true. That only made Hiccup feel more nervous than he already was.

The Viking teens were at the center of the ring waiting and without their weapons, because Gobber took them when they entered. They notice Gobber entering the arena with a look that says: 'If they are ready for today's training'. The recruits know that the peg legged Viking was going to do something unexpected so they are more or less prepare for anything he's got for them. Goober stops in front of one of the cells and just like last time he opened the cage without warning and the Gronckle got out and was flying and crashing all over the arena.

The Viking teens quickly split up and took notice that there were weapons and shields scattered all over the arena, and the first thing they all did was grab hold of the nearest shield they could reach. Gobber was pleased that the young recruits remember the lesson he taught them the first day of training and was egger to see what they will do next especially his small apprentice. They all avoided the charging dragon and each manage to find swords, spears, hammers, and axes to use against the dragon, Hiccup however remain without a weapon and just sticks to the shield.

The Gronckle ate a few rocks and then shot a fire ball at the small humans, Astrid and Fishlegs managed to dodge the shot but Ruffnut didn't have much luck as she use the shield to block the ball of fire leaving her expose and to run for cover. Snotlout tried attacking the dragon but he could barely touch it since the dragon was flying too high for him to reach, the Gronckle charges on him and use his tail like bolder to smack the buff boy to the wall with a loud thud. Then Tuffnut charged at the dragon but the Gronckle simply head-butted him sending the blond boy flying and dropping his weapons.

While the dragon was distracted, Iona took that moment to use her mace and landed a hit on its tail, the Gronckle roared in pain and quickly turn to the human who did it and shots its fire. The Viking girl swiftly uses her shield and the blast caused her to be pushed down, Iona looks up and sees the dragon was about to attack but then a hammer hits the dragon. Iona looked and mentally curses that she was once again save by the redhead Viking, Merida had her shield and sword up keeping her eye on the Gronckle. The dragon turned around and flied straight towards the red-haired human, Merida was about to jump out of the away but all of a sudden, the dragon stops a few feet from her.

Merida was confused that the Gronckle instantly stopped but then she notices that the dragon was sniffing for something and then his slit eyes went wide and the expression on its face look strangely happy. Merida began thinking about Toothless all of a sudden, but then she was too much in her thoughts that she didn't act fast enough when the dragon swiftly tackled her to the ground and cause her to drop her sword.

Hiccup was hiding behind one of the barriers in the arena, as he leans his back on the hard wood his mind was trying to come up with a plan to use the grass from the field on the Gronckle but suddenly he heard the sound of panic and recognize it as Merida's voice he looks to where she was and his green eyes went wide from shock to what he saw.

Merida's voice yelled out in panic as her back was press down on the hard ground, her hands griping to the shield to block the big crazy dragon that for some reason was desperate to get closer to her. The other Viking teens were baffle to the Gronckle's sudden interest to the red head and wondered if they should do something or not. Gothi had a tight grip on her staff as she saw the young girl struggling against the dragon and pray to the Gods that she will be fine. Gobber was going to help the lass but part of this training requires that the recruits learn to fight against dragons on their own, but if he sees anything that might endanger her life, he will immediately step in. Hiccup didn't understand for the dragon's strange behavior towards Merida, but knew that he had to help her but his head was so full of worry that he couldn't come up with a plan that wouldn't get both of them killed.

Iona was puzzle to what was happening but knew that she couldn't just sit down and watch forever, so she stood up and grip the mace in both hands and ran towards the Gronckle. She gave a strong battle cry, then jumps up and uses her mace to pound down on the dragons back, the dragon gave a loud cry of pain and turn towards the human that did it.

Iona simply gave a smirk "Do you want more?"

The Gronkle growled and began to fly towards the human girl, Iona started running so that the flying beast will go after her and lead it away from Merida, the dragon threw another fireball at her but Iona quickly rolled over and dodge it on time. Merida sat up still feeling a bit overwhelmed from the dragon's sudden charge at her but was glad that it was off of her and gave a depressing sigh that she was again saved by the loud mouth Viking girl.

"Merida!"

Merida turns to see Hiccup running towards her and kneeled down to level with her "Are you hurt?" He asked as he scanned her for any bite marks, scratch or bleeding.

Merida gave a small smile for his concerned "Other than mah back achin', Ah think I'll live" she replied.

Hiccup was relief to hear that but knew that this was no time to relax, he stood up and offered his hand to her, and Merida gladly took it and was hoisted up. Still holding her hand Hiccup guided Merida to one of the wooden barriers, they sat down catching their breaths, Hiccup let go of her hand then took a peak and saw that the Gronckled was still flying around attacking the other recruits.

Hiccup turn to Merida with a confuse expression and asked "Why was the Gronckle so desperate to get closer to you?"

"Ah have nae idea" replied Merida still confuse about it herself "One second the dragon was ready to attack me and then all of a sudden it looks at me as if Ah was the most delicioos thing it ever saw"

Hiccup couldn't understand himself for the dragon's odd action but then he caught a whiff of something in the air. He scrunches his eyes and sniffs the air concentrating on the familiar scent, and he recognizes it as the grass from the fields that he landed on during the flight test. Hiccup then turns his head to the left and sees that the scent was coming from Merida, before he could think twice, he leaned in closer to her and sniffed her.

Merida was weird out that Hiccup smelled her so unexpectedly, she leans away from him but he kept getting closer "H-Hiccup" she stutters.

"You smell…" said Hiccup not choosing his words right.

Merida glared at him "What?! Something wrong with my scent!" she said raising her fist to hit him.

Hiccup blinks as he realizes what he just said and quickly backs away "N-No! No wait! I didn't mean like-like that!" He stammered using the shield to protect himself "T-The grass! You smell like the grass!"

Merida still glare at him but took a second to process his words "What grass?"

Hiccup lowered the shield so his face could be seen and hopes she wouldn't kill him "The g-grass field I landed on earlier the grass that made Toothless act so strange. That's what you smell like"

Merida was puzzle to what the auburn-haired boy said but then gave it some thought and then smell her long sleeves and her fur coat and surely both clotting gave the same garlic aroma from the field of grass. "Yoo're right" then it just accord to her that when she had the grass on her arms earlier the scent must have gotten attached to her.

"That could be the reason for the Grounckle's sudden behavior" said Hiccup as his mind began to process the possible theory "It tackled you because it could smell the scent of the grass on you"

"So, it wasnae gonnae eat me? That's good tae know" mumbled Merida feeling a bit relief.

Hiccup's lips form a smile for the conclusion of the theory; he looked over the barrier and sees that the big dragon was still chasing after the other recruits, if his theory is correct then that means the plan he was going to use against the dragon will definitely work.

"Merida, I have an idea"

The Grounckle charged at the young recruits, Astrid, Fishlegs and Iona manage to avoid the dragon's approach. The dragon turns around and shots another fireball at them, Astrid and Iona were able to leap away but Fishlegs wasn't so fortunate and got hit by the blast and was knock to the ground but then he got up and quickly ran away screaming. With an axe and shield in both hands, Astrid took a stance and was ready to take on the dragon, Iona stood next to the blonde girl and was thinking the same having her mace ready for the beast. The Grounckle was about to fly towards the two humans but then got hit on the head with a shield. The two girls turn their eyes towards the one who threw it and were surprised to see that it was Merida. The dragon turns around and its eyes went from fierce slit to wide friendly when it lay on the red-haired human girl.

"Hey remember me?" Spoke Merida loudly.

When Merida saw the happy expression on the Grounckle's face, she swiftly turns and began running and the dragon chases her. Merida was making her way to a specific barrier and hoped that Hiccup's plan works.

"Hiccup!"

Hiccup stood up and moves to the front of the barrier, as soon as she got close; Merida used her right hand and jumped over the wooden barrier. She then sat down and pressed her back to the wood and had her eyes closed waiting for whatever it is the Viking boy was going to do. Hiccup saw the approaching Grounckle and he really hope that his plan works; he extended his left hand to the dragon, close his eyes and turn his head away. As soon as the dragon got close it landed on the ground and was completely at bliss, Hiccup looked up and sees that just like Toothless, the Grounckle was entrance by the grass in his hand. Hiccup rubbed the grass on the Grounckle's nose which made the dragon even happier from the way his tail wag and his eyes going even wider. Hiccup then moved his hand which made the dragon to roll over and simply laid there.

Merida waited for anything that could indicate that the plan didn't work and that Hiccup was getting eating by the dragon but it never came. Her eyes instantly opened when she heard the Grounckle's growl but it sounded less threatening, in fact it sounded friendlier. She stood up and was surprise to see that the dragon was lying on the ground blissfully smelling the grass from Hiccup's hand. Hiccup turns to Merida and gave her the cheapest smile feeling relived that his plan worked and that he wasn't dead. Merida merely sigh and was just glad that he didn't get hurt like last time but couldn't help but give a small grin for his successful plan.

Neither was paying attention to the small audience around them, from above the ring the Adult Vikings were completely shocked to what they just witness. The useless, small, weak Viking Hiccup somehow manage to survive in the ring with a dragon but more shocking is that he took on the Grounckle with nothing but his bare hand, some looked impress and others still couldn't believe that Stoick's little embarrassment won without even getting burn alive or eaten.

Gothi was a bit relief that the young redhead girl was safe but was once again intrigue that the small Viking boy was able to handle a dragon all on his own but she still couldn't comprehend how he done it without so much as using any weapon. Gobber's jaw was drop from what he just saw but then he quickly recovers and immediately made his way to the dragon to get it back in its cage, and knew that as soon as Stoick comes back from the search he will tell him about the remarkable progress that his very own son made.

Hiccup was walking back to the village but he was not alone, he was surrounded by his fellow recruits. The Viking teens have been bombing him with many praises and question for what he did to the Gronckle ever since they left the arena. Hiccup didn't know what to do in this particular situation, this is the first time he ever got attention from the other Viking teens since he practically grew up being tease or ignore by all of them and now that they're interested in him because he took on a dragon. However, Astrid and Iona were not in the group both of them were walking a bit behind because neither felt the need to be near the small Viking.

Hiccup was feeling a bit uncomfortable by all this attention he was having and wished that Merida was here with him but she had to go with Gothi, and she told him that she will meet him at the cove once she gets rid of the grass scent off her.

As they walked across a bridge, the group still hasn't stop praising his epic battle at the ring and Hiccup really needed to get away from the group so he can go to the cove.

"What was that? Some kind of trick? What did you do?" asked Fishlegs.

"How'd you do that?" said Tuffnut

"It was really cool" says Ruffnut

"Hey, Hiccup, I've never seen a Gronckle do that before!" said Snotlout.

Hiccup squirms out of the group and quickly invents an excuse "I left my axe back in the ring. You guys go on ahead and we'll catch up with you" he turns around and caught both Astrid and Iona by surprise he stops before he could collide with them and quickly runs pass them as he ran off. Astrid watches him with suspicious and so did Iona, both girls had a feeling that he was hiding something.

As he made his way to the forge Hiccup had a worried look on his face, now that they saw him take on a dragon by himself word will soon spread all over the village again and every Viking will be staring at him more than yesterday something that will not be so easy if he wants to sneak out to see Toothless. But he'll worried about that later right now he needs to go to the forge to make adjustments to the belt.
