Chapter 5 – the battle begins
Hello again and welcome to Chapter 5 of The Venom Captor, where the battle between Spider-Man and The Venom Captor begins. Enjoy.
Spider-Man could not help but wonder about who the Symbiote had bonded with. Whomever it was, they were a lot smaller than Eddie Brock. Heck they seemed to be a lot smaller than Spider-Man. Regardless, Spider-Man knew it was unwise to underestimate the strength the Symbiote gave someone. Spider-Man also noticed that the Symbiote seemed to be holding a staff. What this was for, Spider-Man did not know, but he had a feeling he would soon find out. Before starting the fight, Spider-Man decided that maybe he should try reasoning with the Symbiote. Maybe he could get through to whomever was being controlled.
"Whoever you are, we don't have to do this. I've bonded with the Symbiote before. I've felt the power, I know it feels amazing, but you'll lose yourself and forget who you are. You need to let it go, and I can help you," reasoned Spider-Man.
Without warning, the Symbiote dashed at Spider-Man and threw a vicious punch. Like before, Spider-Man managed to jump out of the way and landed behind the Symbiote.
"Nice try Parker, but no one and nothing will stop me from defeating you. I have complete control over this human's body and abilities and there's nothing you can do to stop me," said The Venom Captor, more eager than ever to begin the fight.
"Well it was worth a try. You still going by Venom, or do you have a new name? Midget Venom maybe, or The Venom Shrimp?" asked Spider-Man jokingly.
"Very funny Parker. Call me, The Venom Captor," replied The Venom Captor.
"The Venom Captor? Well that's just silly. What do you do, collect Venom from snakes and throw it at people?" joked Spider-Man, who could not help but laugh at the Symbiote's new name.
"I've had enough of your jokes. This fight begins now," said The Venom Captor, raising her staff into the air.
"Very well. Whoever's in there, I'm truly and deeply sorry about this," said Spider-Man, taking his own fighting stance.
Spider-Man half expected the Symbiote to charge at him again, but instead she did something completely unexpected. She threw a card into the air and raised her staff.
"DASH," said the Venom Captor, activating both her staff and the card.
"Huh," was all Spider-Man could say in response, before The Venom Captor dashed at him with such amazing speed, that he could not dodge the next punch.
Spider-Man flew of the building and started to fall into the streets below. He recovered quickly enough to Spin a web and start swinging.
"Ok, that's new. I knew the Symbiote was fast, but I've never seen it move that fast," said Spider-Man, a bit blown away by what he had seen.
The Venom Captor was not going to let Spider-Man escape.
"WINDY," screeched The Venom Captor, activating another card.
"Windy?" asked Spider-Man confused.
Before Spider-Man could react, he was caught in an extremely powerful wind that caused him to lose his grip on his web. He started falling again but managed to shoot another web at a nearby building, pull himself towards it, and stick to the building. Although the wind was powerful, Spider-Man managed to remain where he was. After the wind cleared, Spider-Man noticed that the Symbiote had flown down and was only a few feet away from him, with wings sprouting from her back to keep her airborne.
"Don't you normally turn your arms into wings in order to fly?" asked Spider-Man, who was still a little shaken as to what had happened.
"Normally yes, but this is easier to accomplish and allows for greater flexibility," answered The Venom Captor
"I see, and I'll admit, I'm a little surprised by your new abilities. What'd you do, take control of a wizard who uses magic?" asked Spider-Man.
"In a manner of speaking, yes I did," answered The Venom Captor, preparing to attack again.
"Oh man, where's Doctor Strange when you need him?" asked Spider-Man, a little worried as to what might be coming.
Meanwhile with Tomoyo, Shayaron, Meiling and Kero
Sakura's allies were in one of the many cars, driven by one of Tomoyo's many bodyguards. They had recently arrived in Tokyo and were frantically looking for Sakura. Thankfully for them, both Kero and Shayaron had managed to sense The Venom Captor, using Sakura's magic in the fight against Spider-Man.
"Guys I can sense it, Sakura's using her magic," stated Shayaron, getting concerned about the situation.
"I sense it too," said Kero.
"Can you pinpoint where she is?" asked Meiling.
"Not precisely, but she's on the move. Tomoyo, can you get your guards to go where I tell them?" asked Shayaron.
"Shouldn't be a problem, besides we've got to find Sakura," said Tomoyo, getting worried.
"Hang on Sakura, we're coming to help you," thought Kero.
Back with Spider-Man and The Venom Captor.
Spider-Man swung through the streets of Tokyo as quickly as he could. Unfortunately, The Venom Captor was flying right behind him and attempted attacks, at every chance she got.
"What's your plan here? Just keep flying after me and attacking, with the hopes I won't get the chance to attack back?" asked Spider-Man.
"Seems to be working. You've yet to attack me back," stated The Venom Captor, who continued her pursuit.
"Maybe so, but that actually gives me an advantage. From what I've seen, you can only use one of your spells at a time and since your using the fly spell, you can't use another," stated Spider-Man.
"Oh Parker, if you honestly think I can only use one spell at a time, then you're not going to like what comes next. SWORD," said The Venom Captor, activating yet another card.
Spider-Man turned around mid-swing to see what was happening. He managed to see The Venom Captor, turn her staff into a sword.
"Me and my big mouth," groaned Spider-Man, fearing what was to come.
Spider-Man turned back around and started swinging again. He was swinging as quickly has he could, but it was not enough. Just as he had shot his latest web, The Venom Captor cut it with her sword, causing Spider-Man to start falling again. Spider-Man had a feeling, that any web he tried to spin from then on, would be cut by The Venom Captor's sword. There was only one thing he could do. He had to get back to solid ground. Spider-Man saw a small building, whose roof was below his current position. It was now or never, he had to take the risk. He shot a web towards the building's roof, and pulled himself towards it. Thankfully, he had managed to land on his feet without injuring himself. Unfortunately, he barely had time to breath, before The Venom Captor activated yet another card.
"WATERY," screeched the Venom Captor.
The Venom Captor released a great deal of water on the rooftop upon which Spider-Man was standing. Spider-Man nearly fell of the roof but managed to keep his footing and just ended up getting soaked.
"Is that all you got? If anything, I should thank you for that. I actually feel kind of refreshed," joked Spider-Man.
Not wanting to respond, The Venom Captor simply launched her next attack, with the activation of another card.
"THUNDER," said The Venom Captor.
Spider-Man did not need to be told what that card did. Not wanting to be electrocuted, he jumped into the air as high as he could, as lighting came from Sakura's staff and struck the drenched building. Just as Spider-Man thought, the water from her previous attack, caused the lighting to conduct electricity across the whole roof. Had he remained where he was, he would have met the same fate. Spider-Man landed, just as The Venom Captor stopped her attack. During his time in the air, Spider-Man had managed to come up with a plan to hopefully stop the Venom Captor from using her magic.
Although it appeared, she was able to sometimes use more than one spell at a time, she still had to stop briefly to use her spells, by throwing her cards into the air. Spider-Man had a feeling, that if he managed to get the cards away from her, before she activated their magic, he might stand a chance. All he had to do was make sure his timing was perfect. As soon as The Venom Captor took out another card, Spider-Man prepared himself to steal it. The Venom Captor threw the card into the air and was about to call out the card's name, but Spider-Man shot a web at the card and pulled it away from her. The card flew towards him and he caught it. Spider-Man took a moment to look at the card.
"The Dash? They must have been trying to charge at me again," thought Spider-Man.
The Venom Captor was not happy that Spider-Man had just prevented her attack, so she decided to freeze him where he stood. She took out The Freeze card, but Spider-Man quickly shot another web and prevented her from attacking a second time.
"Nice try, you may have gained some new abilities from your host, but I've already discovered a crucial weakness. You can't use the magic unless you have these cards, meaning all I have to do is steal them before you get the chance to use them!" explained Spider-Man.
To his surprise, The Venom Captor started laughing.
"Parker, do you really think it will be that easy? I have over fifty cards at my disposal and each one carries with it a unique spell. You've only captured two," stated The Venom Captor.
"Well then, I better just ensure my timing is perfect," said Spider-Man, preparing to steal another card should she attempt to use one.
"Fool, even if you did manage to steal all the cards, it would make no difference," stated The Venom Captor.
"Why's that?" asked Spider-Man curiously.
"Because what you don't understand, is that these cards belong to me and they obey their master," said The Venom Captor, who activated her staff to make the stolen cards return to her.
Without warning, Spider-Man found himself being pulled towards The Venom Captor by the cards. He let go and jumped backwards to ensure his own safety. He could not believe it, it was as if the cards had a mind of their own. Then again they probably did.
"Well, so much for that plan," sighed Spider-Man, having been foiled again.
"I have to say, I commend your effort Parker. Completely unfamiliar with this human's abilities, yet you quickly discovered ways to fight back," said The Venom Captor.
"Well I am top of my class for a reason," stated Spider-Man.
"Make all the jokes you want, but you've only lasted this long, because I've allowed you too," said The Venom Captor.
"What do you mean?" asked Spider-Man confused.
"I have cards that could have made this fight very quick and painless for you. I could've used The Small to shrink you too a tiny size and squash you like the bug you are. I could've used The Big, to grow to a ginormous size and squash you!" explained The Venom Captor.
"Repetitive much," thought Spider-Man to himself.
"I could've used The Sweet to turn you into a giant piece of chocolate and eat you. Unfortunately, this human's subconscious won't let me eat people," stated The Venom Captor.
"Well, at least the host had enough of a moral compass to not let the Symbiote have full control," thought Peter.
"I could've used The Sleep to knock you unconscious, or I could've simply used The Erase to wide out your existence completely!" explained the Venom Captor.
"Alright I get it; you have many cards at your disposal that could've defeated me immediately. If that's the case, why haven't you used them?" asked Peter.
"I want this fight to be memorable, we've been fighting each other for a long time and I feel it would be kind of anticlimactic to simply defeat you, without giving you a chance to fight back!" explained The Venom Captor.
"So in other words, you want to humiliate me before you defeat me for good?" asked Spider-Man.
"Of course. I'm confident that I can defeat you without using these cards, but I want everyone to remember the day where I, The Venom Captor, finally took down the friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man!" explained The Venom Captor.
"Well if that's the case, I'll just have to find a way to defeat you, before you decide that you're getting board," said Spider-Man, knowing that he had to keep fighting no matter what.
