Early the next morning at the 12th precinct

Kate Beckett hated the paperwork, she was still mad at her team, the 13th precinct, the captain over there and lastly she piss off at her favorite author. She hated that the 13th precinct had a bigger closed rate more then them. Kate wasn't sure what made the 13th precinct looked so damn good. Was it because their female captain had married a celebrity of all people. Because the captain had really good looked on her. Kate was extremely jealous of the woman. Kate really wanted to a captain at her precinct. But ever since that stunt at Castle book launched party. Now she wasn't too sure, if she would ever get the job or not. She had made a huge mess of her life. Not only with her captain and her team, but maybe her chances at being a captain. Kate had gotten another refill on her coffee. It wasn't really good coffee, that was by now very cold and old. She threw the rest of the coffee and start a fresh pot of hot coffee. Kate was going through everything. Her captain wasn't too happy with her. She need to get back into his good graces and fast. Kate got up when a call came in about a homicide in central park. Kate was in her car; she called her boys letting them know about a murder. When Kate had arrived there, she is looking around see the body by the lake. She walks over to the dead body, see that their someone else looking at the body.

"Excuse me, but I don't know who you think you are. But this is the 12th precinct investigation." The person looking at the body, looks up at her. "In case you haven't been listening over the radio. It's no longer the 12th precinct case. It's the 13th precinct case." The good looking older man told her. Kate couldn't took her eyes off him. "Why are all of you getting this case?" She asked him. "Cause the 12th huge fuck up." Kate couldn't believe it. Ever since she had made everything worse at the precinct. "Do, mind if I ask you a question." The older man looked at her and replied. "Sure, why not. What's your question detective." Kate had one question, "does your precinct have a problem with me?" While was still looking at the body. He answered her question. "Yes, we have a really big problem not just with you." Kate wasn't sure if she believed him or not. "Do you hate me?" The older man said; "I don't hate you detective. But, you could have treated our detectives and our friend Rick with some respect." Kate couldn't understand, why did they have so much respect for Castle. She thought he was nothing more then a playboy. "What has he done for all of you?" Kate was trying to figure out what had Castle done. To get everyone to back him up at the 13th precinct. "Rick has done a lot of things for everyone at our precinct. Most of all he made Emily a very happy woman."

Kate was curious about the captain at the 13th precinct. "So, how did he make Emily a happy woman?" He was trying to do his job and answered her questions at the same time. "Look as much I would love to answers all of your questions. I really have a job to do." Kate hadn't realized that she was distracting him from doing his job. "Sorry, I guess I'm being too noise. I'll let you get back to work, it was nice talking to you." The man looked at her and said; "Dr. Willis. But you can call Ethan." He went back to work, she walked back to her car. Sure she was disappointed that the precinct don't have a case. But now she was very curious about the captain and her relationship with her favorite author. Kate Beckett drove back to the precinct, she was walking over to the elevator. But when she got on, saw a handsome cop get on the elevator with her. "Hey I'm Tom Demming and you are?" She held out her and shake his. "I'm Kate Beckett from homicide. Its nice to meet you." Both of them talk for a few more minutes and both of them get off at her floor on homicide. Kate goes back to her cold case file's. Tom pulls up a chair beside her desk. "Going through some old file's and you look unhappy about something." Kate couldn't took her eyes off the charming detective. "Yeah, I really fucked up on a case I was working on. My captain was really piss off at me."

Tom listening to her story, "you could work a case or two with me. That is if you will have dinner with me tonight?" Kate had thought it over and said; "sure dinner would be good." He got up and left after that. Tom got up and left after that. She was going to get back into everyone good graces. Kate Beckett got back to work, she was very hopeful for her future. Kate Beckett would show everyone, that she was the best lead detective for a reason. She is looking through each of the cold cases again. She is trying to figure out an old cold case. It was a murder of a young woman; "I'm not going to let anyone down again and I'll show that precinct and their captain." Kate saw her team return with lunch for them and her.
